Where do small CDMA carriers get there iPhones? Like (nTelos, Golden State Carrier, Virgin Mobile)

I was wondering what the activation process of my Golden State Cellular iphone 5 would be because I don't have the sim and i want to use it as an iPod. Oh and do CDMA Iphone 5z require a sim to activate? or are they just for LTE?

Several confusing pieces of information here.
First, the link to Virgin Mobile in the first post is for Virgin Mobile Australia. They will unlock their phones if you ask them.
Virgin Mobile USA is a different company (in a different country) and does NOT unlock phones.
Second, the iPhone sold on Virgin Mobile USA does have a SIMM card slot, even though VM network is CDMA. These iPhones are hybrids and have radio circuitry that supports both CDMA (Verizon, Sprint, VM USA), as well as GSM (T-Mobile, AT&T in US, as well as the rest of the world). When activated on Virgin Mobile, phone uses CDMA and the SIMM card is inactive (as well as the circuitry supporting it). However, when you put an active SIMM card (for example, T-Mobile's), the phone should be able connect to a GSM network. The problem is, this doesn't work because the SIMM slot is locked and doesn't allow SIMM cards from other carriers.
Virgin Mobile iPhones are somewhat different from other American carriers, and it appears that there is no unlocking solution for these. I have searched the web thoroughly and haven't been able to find anyone who would be able to unlock an iPhone sold by Virgin Mobile USA, so that it can be used with a SIMM card of another mobile carrier (domestic or foreign). For iPhones on Verizon, unlocking isn't even necessary; they are CDMA phones, which means that the CDMA circuitry can only be activated on Verizon (therefore no Sprint or Virgin Mobile), but the SIMM slot is unlocked and can be used with any global carrier. With AT&T and T-Mobile, unlocking is required, since the two are GSM operators which use SIMM cards, so the phone is locked to the carrier. Unlocking can be done, in some cases (if you've been a customer long enough) even by the carrier itself, and there are third-party unlocking services out there. Unfortunately, Virgin is the only one where this, for some reason, cannot be done.

  • Where do I go to get my iPhone fixed in Malaysia?

My iPhone 4 has a faulty home button. It is now out of warranty.
I have just moved from UK to Malaysia so have no idea where to take it.
There are lots of Apple resellers but no official apple shops with genius bars in my area.
Please advice what I should do. How much is it likely to cost to get it fixed?
    Thanks.

It should get it right after Cricket, right?

Whenever Virgin Mobile and Apple announce it will be available.

  • Virgin Mobile unlocks iPhones for free?

I currently have an HTC phone on Virgin Mobile, which has given me pretty good service for the monthly rate. I want to upgrade to the iPhone 5s and continue to use Virgin Mobile since it has given me such good service. However, I will be moving out of state next year and am worried that Virgin Mobile will not provide good service there, so just in case I want to be able to switch my iPhone to a different carrier. Virgin Mobile says they will unlock iPhones purchased from them for free (https://community.virginmobile.com.au/t5/Phones-knowledge-base/How-do-I-unlock-m y-Apple-iPhone/ta-p/80), but after doing some research, apparently it is really hard to switch carriers on a Virgin Mobile unlocked iPhone since they use CDMA. Sorry, I am not a techie, so am really unfamiliar to all of this. Will someone explain what that means, and if I would be able to potentially switch carriers?
    Thanks!

Insert a SIM from a supported carrier.
Where did the phone come from,  it sounds like the device has been hacked or jailbroken to be unlocked and updating has re locked to the original carrier. It is also possible that the SIM simply needs to be reseated or replaced.

Depending on where the iPhone was purchased, you may be able to
return it for $/credit and then buy the color you prefer. If past the
return window the seller allows, use a case like Briansyddall suggested above.

  • I want to get an iPhone 4S, but I already have a contract, so where can I get one without a contract? How much would it cost?

    Anyone know where? o_e

You can buy from most anywhere that sells iphones.
Click Store at the top of this page:

The unlocked iPhone works only on supported GSM networks, such as AT&T in the U.S. When you travel internationally, you can also use a micro-SIM card from a local GSM carrier. The unlocked iPhone will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.

  • Where can I get my iphone 4S fixed? I can't get any help! Not even from Apple!

My sim card reader in my iphone 4S is damaged and does not read my SIM card. Unfortunately, my phone carrier will not help me. I went to the Mac Store, they told me it had to be fixed but can't do it through them. I tried Apple website and no luck. I even called both the Support and the main Apple corporate head office in Cupertino which is closed even if its past 8 Am pacific time.  The issue is that I am customer in Panama City, Republic of Panama. There is no support or any post purchase service from Apple here. I am willing to ship my phone to where ever Apple wants to get it fixed. If I only could ask someone from Apple...

Assuming you purchased the iPhone in the USA then you can only obtain serice and support IN the USA
You can not mail or courier the iPhone to Apple they do not accept international service requests
Either take the iPhone to an Apple store in US or mail it to a friend or relative in US for them to handle the repair and then return the iphone to you
If you purchased from another country then exactly the same procedure must happen but to that country Apple Store
Tha iphone warranty and post warranty service is not international

  • Where can I get an iPhone 3?

I am moving to Vietnam for 8 months and am looking to bring a smartphone with me (I currently don't own a cellphone). I am NOT interested in the iPhone 4, 4S or 5 as I have been advised to only bring a 3G. I went into the Apple store and they were obviously not helpful as they just wanted to sell me a new phone. Does anyone know of a good source to get an iPhone 3/3G in good condition for a reasonable price?

Adding to what tonefox has correctly advised:
If you are afraid of getting mugged do not get a smartphone; get a standard throwaway, cheap phone on a local network when you get there. ANY smartphone (3G , 4, 4S, Galaxy) is bound to attract attention. If you still insist on getting the 3G please be aware that you will have to get a SIM unlocked phone (or one that is locked to one of the Vietnam carriers) if you plan on using a local carrier as your service provider, something logic dictates that you will do. If you plan on using a carrier from home, you incur HEFTY roaming charges that will break your budget.
Many phones advertised on the Web (ebay) etc claiming to be unlocked usually are NOT or they have been hacked to unlock them; something that will bring a ton of headaches.  As to the map function, paper seems to work well.
    Your choice...

  • Never-hacked 4 gets "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone" after update to 7.0.2

I was using iOS 7.0.1 an hour ago.  Upon update to 7.0.2 I get "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate."
I know I haven't a SIM.  I threw it away.  I moved on.  New carrier - HTC phone.  I've been using my iPone 4 as an iPod without the SIM for over half a year.  Before that I did the same with my iPhone 3 for much longer.
What hoops do I have to jump through now to recover my iPhone 4?
The phone has never been jailbroken or altered.
ATT was my original sevrice provider while I bought my device from Apple.

All iPhones require activation after a restoration and an iOS upgrade.  There really was no reason to throw your deactivated SIM  from AT&T away.  You'll need an AT&T sim to activate that phone.  It doesn't need to be active, however.  Borrow one from someone to get your phone activated

Is there any way to get my iPhone 4S from Verizon to work in Hong Kong?  So far it only says cannot activate cellular network.  I have cleared all settings, turned off CDMA...etc and still nothing.

If you are there now, there is nothing you can do.  Before going you should have talked with Verizon, they have international service programs they can activate, but it has to be before going.
