Where do you all get videos?

Besides iTunes of course. I try to get stuff off Limewire (movies, not music videos), but I'm never very successful. I also try bit torrents, but sometimes those take so long to download, and I am on T1, so it shouldn't take that long.
Many people rip DVDs, but I don't have the hardware needed to do that.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I'm sure there's alot of non-copywrited stuff on limewire so you can't assume she is breaking the law.
She's talking about movies and music videos. It's pretty clear what she means.
Plus people should let the proper athorities worry about laws being broken.
If I see someone being mugged on the street, I'm going to do something about it. If I see someone stealing movies and/or music, I'm at least going to tell them that what they're doing is illegal and immoral.

Where do you store your videos?

My 80 GB iPod has more space than my computer does, and after buying several seasons worth of TV shows, I've run out of room on my computer, but still have space on the iPod. Where do you store all of these video files? I don't have a DVD burner (just a player), so I can't burn them onto DVDs.

Sorry if off topic. I use premiere cs4 and AE. I work for a non-profit org so all my work is for them. I would like to start doing small projects outside of work. I placed ads on craigslist but all i seem to get is spam replys. production hub seems slow. How do you guys put yourself out there? I don't really have any connections.

In my case, most of my clients come either from my still client-base, or via word of mouth. Many of the latter seem to come from my circle of "friends," and from people related to my social endeavors, i.e. networking.
One possibility would be to offer to do pro-bono editing for other not-for-profit groups. With permission, add full credits, including contact info. I sit on a few charity boards and we often do some major AV productions for the events. As these involve much more than just editing, and I also have a full "dance card," we use some pro-bono (in kind donations) productions. All of our printed materials have full credits to the production houses, and we ask that each do a full credit portion. For materials that we hand out at the events, or use in pre-event promotion, we ask that those production houses put their credits on the printed discs. This obviously helps us (pro-bono production), so we want to help them. I will also donate editing time, where appropriate, to those suppliers, should they need additional work.
Back when I was shopping my portfolio more actively, I donated my services to organizations like the Denver Art Directors Club, and the Denver Ad Federation. I picked up dozens of clients from the donated projects. It also gave AD's and Creative Directors an opportunity to work with me on the pro-bono projects, so that they knew my capabilities and personality - at no charge to them.
Lot of good comes from doing a "favor" under the right circumstances.

Where do you guys get art for games?

I'm a decent programmer but a terrible artist. Where should I go to get textures and models to use in a game? Do I have to hire someone to make them, or is there an easier/cheaper way?

There is a site uGameDev that if for mac games. They have lots of free* assets for starting out. You just have to download stuffit expander ( yuk, makes me want to kill someone ) to read the .sit archives.
* Some assets are GPL some are uGameDev license. uGameDev basicly states it's free for Mac games so you might wnat to ask before you assume that's and a-ok for java development too.
I have no quams about stealing assets for development, asking and creditinging for a demo, but I would never use a stolen asset in a commercial/shareware game.

How did you all get your new alum iMacs so quickly?

As you can see from my profile, it it time for a new Mac! I have been told by various Mac suppliers in my area that they would not get their shipments of alum iMacs until the end of August. I tried to get one through the Apple online store, same release date.
However, since reading this forum, as well as the display forum, I am starting to have second thoughts, due to the calibration and screen quality issues.
Could it be that Apple is delaying shipments now, because they are busy fixing the bugs in the screen?

+A handful of people who do not actually own a new iMac have generated a large number of posts about glossy screens and color matching between the iMac monitor and paper printing being unsuitable for professional graphics design work. It's a tempest in a teapot as far as the rest of us go.+
I am beginning to agree with this statement! It is easy getting caught in "the tempest" while one is reading all the various posts. It is heartening to read more and more posters having positive experiences with the new iMacs. I am not a graphic artist, designer, nor a professional photographer. I do use iphoto and photoshop to "tweak" my family photos. I also enjoying tinkering with idvd and imovie with my kids. My son especially enjoys making stop action Lego movies! My PowerPC has handled these tasks admirably, yet slowly, so it is time to move on.
I don't rush into any purchase of this sort without extensive research and reading. I obviously get full value out of my computer purchase (10+ years since the last one), and I don't feel the need to buy another computer anytime soon.
Now I just need to decide on the 20" or the 24". Any thoughts?

I haven't seen any HT capable ones out there. I got mine from Knowledge Micro. They were the only ones at the time that clearly said no HT. At the time there were no HT 655Max boards out there. MWave also has them.

Hi guys. Just a quick question/discussion. Did a search, but it came up with no good results.
Where do you guys get your daily fix for Linux news, for everything new and exciting in the Linux world?
I'm still fairly new to Linux. First used it back around Ubuntu 8.10, but then switched back to Windows within a few weeks. Then got back into it around the beginning of this year with 10.04. Before eventually moving to Sabayon for quite a fair bit of time then just recently trying out Arch, and loving it.
As an Ubuntu user originally, I like to check out the articles on OMGUbuntu for news and info on new applications, or changes, being developed and also DistroWatch for news on new distributions or updates. I also like to read the occasional Linux article on Gizmodo or Lifehacker that they sometimes feature.
Anyway, where do you like to get your news?

By and large, I get online news by subscribing to RSS feeds (--I use Google Reader to aggregate them, but there are other options too--), not through normal web pages. If it weren't for RSS, there's no way I'd have time to visit all the webpages I'd want to visit every day. Indeed, I mainly become aware of new posts in these forums through its RSS feed.
Anyway, here are some broadly linux-related RSS feeds I subscribe to. Most of them have associated webpages too. (Thank goodness I can just export a list from Google Reader or I'd never remember them all...)

Where do you get vide

I just bought the Video:M. I know it takes avi and mpeg but where do you actually get things like movies? I'd love to be able to rent movies to watch on it when I travel on the plane. I tried downloading a video from iTunes but the movie converter software couldn't recognize it.
Is there software that will translate a DVD into a format that the Video:M can play?

I'm afraid we cannot allow discussion on copying/ripping commercial DVD since that would usually involve breaking the disc protection on the disc and that's illegal in most countries.
I'm leaving the thread open at the moment since you have other questions that other users might be able to share with you.

You should still have your profile folder, so when you install 3. you will get your bookmarks and other user data back.

I have one question. Are You All Able to get the Output In EXCEL Format?? I am working on Oracle Apllication 11.5.10.2 and my XML builder is 5.0.1. Problem which i m facing is this...... Whenever i am submitting a concurrent program with format type different from PDF i could not able to view the ouput in desired format. When i am pressing view output it gives me a file in XML and when i save that file with extention 'xls' or 'rtf' then i could able to see the saved file in desired format.
Can anyone tell me where is the problem??? Is it a bug?
I am using microsoft world 2000 sp-3.
Please give your valuable comments. May be your comments can solve my problem..

Backup do not contaiuns music or apps, you will either need to resync them from your itunes computer, or you can go to purchase history in itunes or app store app and go to purchase history and redownload them.

How can I play all the videos I have saved to a playlist? I only am able to get one playing at a time then I have to select the next and play it.

I am not able to get all/any of my videos to play one after another like my music playlists. I thought it worked once but I am not able to recall how.
Your help is greatly appreciated. I am tired of having to go back after each video (be it a music video, tv show, movie...but music video in particular).

The Videos that do not play - Are they all Checked.
Right Mouse Click on a video, If at the bottom of the popup it has Check selection then that is what is missing. Suggest you select all your videos, Right clcik and mark all as checked in 1 go. Then your playlists will run through them.
I think they only play one at a time because when you double click on them to pl;ay for that 1 video it overides the checked/ Unchecked feature

In case anyone has had the same problem as me, I have just managed to fix this by doing the following:
Switch off Mac
Switch back on in Safe Mode (Hit power button, then hold Shift key until a loading bar appears at the bottom of the screen).
Switch off Mac again
Remove power cord and wait 15 seconds
Plug power cord back in and hold down the keys alt, cmd, p, r all at the same time until you hear Starting chime for a second time and hopefully your audio will back.

I've managed to go some time like this, but right now it's just really annoying me. HELP!!!

Just drag the small window to the top right below the toolbar, you'll see the area highlighted and when you drop it the file should dock.
