Where do you find deleted Photos when they are not in the Trash?

I deleted my photos from the Album which meant deleting them completely. How can I restore them? Can't find them in the Trash

Here's how to delete photos from different parts of an iPhoto Library:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

  • Help, Help, Help!!! I deleted pictures and they are not in the trash......

I created a folder on iPhoto with sub albums in it. I cut and pasted pictures out of other folders into my newly created ones. Afterwards I deleted the old folder. Doing so, it deleted the new ones I had made as well. When I looked in the trash, nothing was there, and I didn't empty the trash or anything. Is there any way that I can retrieve these lost folders???

Sorry I don't mean to nitpick, but to understand exactly what you're saying:
I had an album on iPhoto. This album had sub albums or folders within it. (Album A)
No you didn't. Albums can't have "sub-albums or folders", they can contain only photos. Neither can Events. The only item in the iPhoto Window that can contain albums or other folders are Folder.
This is important, why? Because if you're working in an Album or Folder then you're working on a Refernece to a file. Working in the Library (i.e in an Event or Photos view) is directly accessing the file.
I edited the pictures within these folders
Unless you specifically create a duplicate first, when you edit any instance of a photo you edit all instances of a photo. So, in other words, edit a pic in an album and you edit the pic in the Library as well.
I created a new album with new sub folders (Album B)
    Again, not an album...
I cut and pasted photos out of the sub folders in Album A and and put them into sub folders of Album B
I'm sorry but you simply cannot do this in iPhoto.
A sa general rule: if you delete something from the Library, it's deleted for all Albums as well. If you delete something from an Album then it's only deleted from the Album.
Folders cannot contain photos, they can only contain Albums.
Sorry again, my intention is not to nitpick but until we can understand what's happened we cannot know how to progress.

  • Help moved copied pictures to trash from my flash drive but some were put in trash and they are not in the trash?  Help

I was moving some of pictures from my compact Flash card and move to trash. Of course I did not double save them to another drive......:(   I realized that I did not copy everything so I went to recover them in the trash but none of the pictures I sent to the trash were there?  Help?  Is there somewhere I can retrieve them if I can not see them in the trash can.  Oh I did not empty the trash.

You can't actually retrieve files once they are deleted by looking for hidden files.  Yes the data isn't (immediately) overwritten (unless you do a secure erase), but the directory entry is removed.   Something like Data Rescue might be able to find and retrieve the data.  But no guarantees.  There are no hidden files representing the deleted data.

  • Why are guides embedded in my photo when they are not turned on?

They hey and are not visible to me but only show on another person's computer.

Hard for me to say what transpired at your end. I even forget what switches I flip in this program. I remember dimly getting a file with guides in them. Perhaps the author thought that hiding them on his side would hide them when I opened the file.
Anyway perhaps this will help avoid that issue in the future:
Even if the guides are hidden, if View > Clear Guides is active, you have them. If the command is grayed out, there are no guides to clear, and you can send them on. Hope that helps somewhat.

  • In two email accounts, the msgs that are downloadednjust disappear when the ipad is turned off.  They are not in the trash file, but just gone.

    If someone has an answer...
    Thannks in advance
    <Email Edited by Host>

I have an itouch that has the same two email accounts as I trying to use on the ipad.  Same accounts are set up on a desktop computer (almost never sync either one with it) and an android smartphone.  The itouch keeps msgs on it in the inbox (both accounts) and in the trash folders until I delete them...........same with the android phone.
If I download msgs to either account to the desktop where it is set up to remove them from the ISP server, then I understand they won't come to any of the other devices, but the android phone and the itouch will have them in their in boxes (they come in through the wireless router here at the house.
The problem I'm having is that the ipad is set uo just like the itouch, but it sure acts differently with regard to email..  This morning, it had about 40 msgs on one account that I use for aviation and vietnam list groups and then checking it about two hours later, all of them were gone,,,,,,,just gone and all the folders were empty.  I had not used the desktop computer during that time.
I've deleted both email accounts and started over from scratch a couple of times and that hasn't fixed the problem.............

  • I can't find my photos. They are not in my Iphoto, what do I do? where do I find them?!

I tried to save a picture that a friend sent to me from her blackberry. Now my I-photo is empty and it asks me to create a new library. I have very valuable photos in my original library with several albums; they must be somewhere. If someone could help, please!
thank you, thank you, thank you!

I am doing some testing and I think that what I did was to replace my library, is there anyway to restore my original library?

If you do not lock that folder immediately after deleting all the contents, it will simply populate again (Resume - a "feature" in Lion). You do that by doing a Get Info (highlight folder and press Command + I keys), unlock the lock at the bottom, enter your admin password, then check the box to lock the folder. lock the lock and you're done.
Yes, that is correct. The alternative is to quit all applications prior to logging out. Lion will then have a chance to remove the saved states.

    And, for the OP:
It has also been a regular feature of Mac OS to automatically open any window that was open at shutdown. To avoit that behavior, simply close any Finder windows and  properly quit applications by closing their window and using Command + Q (or File >Quit).
This was true only for the Finder. Prior to Lion, no other apps would launch unless they were included in the Login Items for the account. And the OS would not restore windows for other apps.
A very small number of apps (TextWrangler is an example) implemented this capability prior to Lion. They could restore previously opened windows. But that is an application feature, and can be controlled by the application's preferences. Lion implements it at the system level, and users have virtually no control on a per application basis.

If you want help you’ll need to give us more information. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • I recently had to get a new computer, my list of audible books is there but can't open because original file cannot be found.  how do I find them or redownload them when they are not in my purchased list anymore?

I recently had to purchase a new computer, after doing so I no longer can open my audible books.  the list is there, but I get an error message telling me that the original file cannot be found.  How can I redownload them when they are not in my purchased list anymore when I go to the Apple Store??

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

You cannot backup photos to iCloud.
You can enable Photo Stream (in Settings > iCloud) but only for 30 days and only a max of 1000 photos.
Then what does this mean? It was copied from the kb article that I posted above.
Reducing the size of your Camera Roll backup
If you take lots of photos and videos with your iOS device, you may notice your Camera Roll takes up most of your iCloud Storage backup. To check the size of the Camera Roll backup on your device:
On your Home Screen, tap Settings.
    Tap iCloud.
    Tap Storage & Backup.
    Tap Manage Storage.
In the Backups section, tap your device.
In the Backup Options section, the backup size is displayed under Camera Roll.
To reduce the size of your Camera Roll backup, save your photos and videos locally to your computer with iTunes, and then manually back up your iOS device. If you want to keep your photos and videos on your iOS device, you can turn off Camera Roll in Backup (see the "Deleting backups and turning off Backup for your Device" section above) orpurchase additional storage.

James Ward4  Thanks for your suggestion.  I have tried the video app and it appears to have some, but not all of the downloads which are viewable without wifi, so I will now review the download process and see if I can capture the missing episodes.  Thanks again.
