Where do you plug in the mains cable on an iMac?

Hi
So I am a new MacBook Pro and iMac user as I am a youtuber and now partner verified. Now, a few days ago I realised that I have birthday money as it has recently been my birthday and I now have money to get a macbook and an iMac. Currently I am not in the correct level of editing due to being partner verified and due to being partner verified, my editing now needs to be top notch, and not just windows live movie maker.
Now a few days ago I went bust, because my laptop (Acer 5742Z) just died. Completely. And to be honest, I have wanted a mac for a while. I will be getting Final Cut Pro and all. But, what I need to know is, what will I need except RAM, HD, PSU, Keyboard, Mouse, Power cable and everything else built into the mac? This is important because I am buying this mac and macbook with no accessories, so no sarcastic ironic answers as this question is urgent
Thanks

Hi Ben Furuta
I am buying it from a private seller
He no longer has the keyboard and mouse as the other one had to go with the keyboard and mouse and it went for too much money for me
I do have a mouse and keyboard already
I worked my old mac to death that's why
I am also buying a MacBook Pro
My nearest apple shop is 1:00 hour away
Thanks

  • HT4437 how do i mirror without using apple TV .....like the old OS platform where I just plug in the HDMI cable and it recognizes the i pad and then projects it onto the TV.

I do NOT want to use Apple TV only a cable.
I spent 59 minutes with APPLE tonight and they were useless.

my ipod is broken in where you would put the usb cable into the ipod to charge it or to connect it to the laptop does anyone know if it can be fixed

Any Apple store or an AASP will repair it for a fee!  If you want DIY instructions try the iPod Repair Tutorials and the YouTube "How To" tutorial websites.

  • Iphone 4 unresponsive and flashes apple logo but itunes wont recognise it . when plugged into the mains it turns onto recovery mode and asks to be plugged into itunes, when i unplug it from the mains it turns straight off again

please help! my iphone randomly went unresponsive, when plugged into itunes it flashes apple logo and itunes doesnt recognise it and when plugged into the mains its in recovery mode, asks to be connected to itunes, but immediately turns off when unplugged from mains

You could try to do a hard reset, sometimes resetting the phone helps. Hold down the sleep/wake button on the top and the home button until you see the apple logo, this make take a minute or two but this might help.

  • HT4060 My iPad needs recharging. I plug in the charge cable in what I think is the recharging slot. I cannot find anything in any of the literature on the website that identifies the charging slot but the plug seems to fit! But it won't charge.

Ther does seem to be  quite a lot of comments about this issue
It seems the charger is a little slow and takes upto 4 hours to charge
closing all apps and leave the  ipod in standby seems to off the best charging experience
    I hope the Photo helps
In my view apple should have included a better charger for the price, the new 12w adaptor will reduce the charge time and resolve you problem, however its about $15

  • Will dead battery stop netbook g62 from booting up even when plugged into the mains

Had the battery warning (last week)
did not replace now will not boot up even when plugged into the mains.  Is this likely to stop booting or just a case of more than one thing wrong at the same time. New battery expensive to buy if it is likely to be something else wrong.

A battery can be so dead it will keep the laptop from powering on fully when the dead cells suck up too much of the power. Will it turn on with "mains" connected but battery removed?

  • After you plug an Apple USB SuperDrive into an iMac, what must you do to view and burn DVD videos?

After you plug an Apple USB SuperDrive into an iMac, what must you do to view or to burn DVD videos?

    What iMac..?
The Apple USB SuperDrive only supports new iMac's that did not come with a built-in SuperDrive.
    System Requirements
    Compatible with the following computers:
    MacBook Pro with Retina display
    MacBook Air
    iMac (late 2012)
Mac mini (late 2009) and later

  • I have a 2nd or 3rd generation iPod touch. Recently, it doesn't recognize headphones and will only play music through it's speakers. I've tried cleaning the area where you plug in the headphones but this has not helped. What should I do?

My ipod touch (2nd or 3rd generation) won't recognize headphones anymore! I have'nt gotten it wet or dropped it. I've tried cleaning out the plug where you plug the headphones in. I've had no luck. Is this fixable or is it time to trash this iPod?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
    Replace the jack yourself

It i likely not worth getting it fixed if a bad headphone jack

  • Ipod touch does not charge and sync/appear in Itunes or on my computer - But will charge when plugged into the mains?!

    Hi
I have a IPod touch 32GB, but im having a few problems with it.
When i plug it into the computer its doesn't charge or appear in ITunes and 'my computer'.  However when i plug it into the mains it charges!
Any idea what's happening the my iPod?!   Any help to save my precious iPod would be very helpful!

If the cable works from a wall charger, then I'd try a different USB port, verify your USB ports support USB 2.0 (may be a setting in BIOS), or try a different computer...
For the last test, if the computer has iTunes installed, DO NOT SYNCH your iPod!!!

  • Why won't my time capsule show up when I scan for a wireless network when I plug in the ethernet cable from my comcast modem?

I just setup my cable and internet at my new place yesterday thru comcast.  The internet works when it is plugged directly from my modem to my iMac but when I try to plug the modem up to my time capsule to set up wireless and go through air port utilites it can not find my time capsule

Anytime you change networking hardware, it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of your networking components.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • Updating without plugging into the mains...argh help please?

Hi, I've just installed new software on my iPod Mini and now want to get on with loading more songs onto it. The trouble is, it won't recognise my ipod on itunes until I've plugged my iPod into the mains using the regular charger. I don't have the regular charger on me!! Is there any way to still use my ipod with my pc without connecting to the mains? This is the only chance for me to add more music.
    Please help, thank you lots!!
    Samsung PC   Windows XP

Your other options are to connect it to your PC via 6-Pin powered firewire port if you can... or possibly a car cigarette lighter charger.
At this point, your iPod needs to complete the update process and connecting to an external power source is the only way to complete the process.

  • Plug off the ethernet cable, ox y yosemite crashes, laptop shuts down

Hi, I Just had recently another  problem :
I use the etherent cable for faster internet speed, but if I unplug it, or it comes off, my entire computer shuts down.
Is PRAM the answer, I seemed to read that everywhere with Yosemite bugs,
    thanks for anyones input!

The "do something with the battery" you're referring to would be to unplug it for a minute. You can go to ifixit.com and get detailed instructions on how to do it for your model. The other thing I'd suggest, though I'm not sure it'll work with your machine in this condition, is to reset the SMC. You can try.

If your MPB is a 2009 or later, follow the "for a battery you should not remove" instructions.
