Where do you put instrument drivers and DLLs?

Recently I have been using instrument drivers to communicate with the test equipment. I have just been putting these drivers into the isntr.lib folder on the C drive. However, in the lab we have multiple PC's, so every time I start using a new driver I need to go around to each PC and install the same driver. This is a tedious process, and was wondering what everyone else does in this situation...
Is there any reason not to just store these drivers on the network? Since we are on this topic, I have also wondered the same thing about DLLs that some of my applications need to run, is there any good reason not to put these on the network too?
Is it okay to store LabVIEW native drivers on the network, such as DAQmx? And how about OpenG libraries?

I've also been using Subversion for years and MS Visual Source Safe before that). Here's what I would recommend:
Install Subversion (http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/) on all the computers.
Create an identically-named root directory to check out files to on all the computers (I use Source Code).
Create a subdirectory within Source Code called Drivers.
Whenever you need to update/add driver files, check them all IN to Subversion from your desktop computer.
Check out the entire Driver subdirectory onto the target computers. That will update any changed files.
While you're at it, you could create other subdirectories as well: DLLs, Utility VIs, OpenG, etc.

1) double clicking it
2) dragging it onto a PS application
3) running it from inside PS via File->Scripts->Browse
If your OS is Vista, you will probably need to start Photoshop using
'Run as administrator' because the installation script needs to install
CSX into Photoshop folders that are normally protected.
If you have more than one installation of Photoshop on your computer, you'll
need to run the installation script for each copy of Photoshop.
When the installation is complete, you can removed the contents that you
unzipped before.
MANUAL INSTALLATION:
You don't need to do this if you ran the InstallCSX script.
If there are previous versions of this script, be sure to remove them at
this time.
Unzip the distrubution file in your Photoshop Presets/Scripts directory and
restart Photoshop. "CSX-1_4_2.jsx" should appear in your File->Scripts menu
in CS2.
With CS3 and CS4, CSX should appear under File->Automate menu as
'Contact Sheet X v1.4.2...'.

I am manually restoring files from a back up. Where do I put my iTunes and Garage Band Folders?

I had the Apple store clean my entire hard drive and they restored it to new. I now need to manually restore my backed up files. Where do I put my iTunes folder that is on the back up hard drive back to my computer?

Hi I hope you can help me we have our own icc colour profile that i want to synchronise in adobe bridge to use on the whole suite. Can you tell me where i have to put the profile for it to appear in the list when i go to creative suite color settings in bridge. Hope someone can help me please this is driving me mad !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are right, that is not possible. Use Finder to manual copy the icc
profile to a place as described in a copy of a text from an Adobe Press
article that I pasted in this mail, choose which one you need.
Then in PS again go to color setting, under working spaces find the newly
added color profile in either RGB section or CMYK section and select it.
Also check the other settings you want to have active. Then save this color
setting with a clear and understandable name and hit OK. Then go to Bridge
color settings and now your newly saved profile is in the list and you can
choose it. Now you are done. You can also easily get it undone again by
checking an other one of the list.

Mac OS X offers a bewildering variety of places to store profiles. You'll
find them in the System\Library\ColorSync\Profiles folder, in the
Library\ColorSync\Profiles folder, in the

Support\Adobe\Color\Profiles folder, in the Library\Application

I do a bit of amateur editing, and I have a bunch of codecs and plug-ins. And a few months ago, I realized I MIGHT have been putting them in the wrong folder!
Macintosh HD / Library / Quicktime
So... I "copied all" and I pasted into the OTHER folder that seemed to have some codecs and plug-ins:
Macintosh HD / System / Library / Quicktime
Then, I "copied all" from THAT folder into the other folder, not overwriting duplicates.
I DO remember that there were some in BOTH folders before I started adding...
HELP! Where should they all go?

Um, mpeg2, Divx, etc... flip and perian are fine, but don't come anywhere NEAR allowing you to play the totality of formats out there.
However, I guess my question should have been, which ones are "Apples" and which ones aren't... I'd love to NOT have duplicates in both folders.
Is there anywhere that lists the "default" Apple Quicktime Pro codecs and plug-ins that should be in that "apple only" folder?

How do you import/where do you put video clips?

With my Windows Vista PC, video clips taken by my iPhone or digital camera were imported by Windows Photo Gallery and stored in the same directories as the photos. These videos could then be synced via iTunes in the Photo tab, when you selected a photo directory that contained video files and clicked on the "Include videos" box.
Now on my new iMac, I see the same "include videos" box under the Photo tab for any given iOS device in iTunes. But, iPhoto did not import even my iPhone-created videoes when I migrated my photo library.
So my question (i'm a mac newbie in case it was not clear): How do I need to setup the video import process so that camera and iPhone videos are stored in the places they need to be, so that they can be synced in iTunes during photo sync? Does iPhoto need to be configured in some way to import the video, or am I supposed to use iMovie to import video clips into a library which can be used by iTunes for syncing during the photo sync process? Or is there some other program I have to configure? When I connect cameras with video clips, my iMac is not bringing up any program by default to import the video - is there some sort of configuration option I am supposed to select?
Second question: I have a lot of video clips in avi format created by older digital camers. What format do I need to convert them to in order to get them into a format which can be imported into a library and synced to my iOS devices? Previously on my PC, I converted the AVI files to MP4 format, and it worked just fine. However, again iPhoto did not recognize these files (maybe if I get question #1 answered this will no longer be an issue).

I guess the reason I like the iPhoto approach is that it arranges my photos chronologically/as events, which makes it easier for me to view. I also like that I can sync my videos by event. This workflow works for me because I have a tendency to make a lot of video and only get around to editing later, but often still like to look at the raw video from time to time. Meanwhile, I note that viewing clips in iMovie is far less convenient - clearly this is for editing only rather than viewing. So if I understood it correctly, to do it this way, I should convert video clips in iMovie to, I guess, the *.mov format and move those into iPhoto, yes?
I just took a video with my iPhone and confirmed that iPhoto did import it. However, I still can't figure out why iPhoto did not see the existing iPhone mov files in my PC photo library from the USB hard drive when it imported all other photos from the same. I then dragged and dropped some of those mov files manually into iPhoto, and this worked... but not well. Those videos got arranged as a separate event, and then I had to go and put them back into the correct event.
I have hundreds of photo subdirectories from the PC library, and I don't remember which ones have iPhone video files. Is there a way to search the entire photo directory for *.mov files and drag them from there into iPhoto? If I could then see the file name or time/date stamp of the individual mov files, I could then sort the mov files manually into the correct events.
What if I were to make iPhoto reimport from this photo directory, with the hopes that it would automatically pick up the mov files? Would I get duplicates of existing imports by this method?
Finally - am I correct in assuming that I only have to convert my existing avi video clips to mov format in order for iPhoto to be able to handle them?

I think there are two or three bookmark buttons.
The one I think you mean is the the same as the keyboard shortcut to show the '''bookmarks in the sidebar''' ("Ctrl+B"), but it could be the button to replace the loss of the menu bar which is a drop down replacement. Or you could just put things back to normal...

How do you setup environmental entries that can be lookup via JNDI.
I was doing this:
1.) In web.xml put the following:

</resource-env-ref>
2.) In global-web-application.xml, then put the following:
<env-entry-mapping name="myStringName">myStringValue</env-entry-mapping>
However, the web.xml is not able to find the <env-entry-mapping> to "myStringName"
Any help on this is much appreciated.

I just received my Leica M9 and downloaded from chromasoft a camera profile for the M9. it is a .dcp file but I can not find where to use it.

Dependent on OS. On Windows vista the usual location is Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CamerRaw\CameraProfiles .
Or you can place it directly in the folder where the Adobe profiles are located, usually Users\All Users\Adobe\CamerRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera|Leica M9
on OSx /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles
The actual profile is used via the calibration setting in the develop module.

I just bought me some slightly used t7700's, and I noticed that it has the cable with 4 colored plugs at the end- one grey, one orange, one green and one black. However my sound card (Audigy 2 zs) only has 3 holes for inputs! On the website where it says how to plug them,

The audio cable that are bundled with the speaker had 3 plug on one end and 4 plug on the other end. You are to connect those 4 plug end to the subwoofer and the 3 plug end to the sound card. If you had purchase from another person then it's best to check with him if he had given you the wrong cable.

Where do you download display drivers for GeForce 770m (gt70 20C)?

I have noticed that my new MSI laptop has been experiencing strange framerate drops in some games. Dota 2, for example, will drop from 60fps to 9fps, and will not come back up unless I restart client. Assassin's Creed 3 does the same thing, but can be solved with an alt-tab
So I went to look for new Geforce drivers. I was shocked to find that I could not install the nvidia drivers from nvidia.com. wow!
So are we at the mercy of MSI for display driver updates? I did manage to find a driver on MSI.com, but it was actually an older version than the one that came pre-installed with the machine.
So is there anywhere else we can download more up-to-date drivers from??? As this is my first every MSI notebook, I am concerned that MSI is not going to provide timely driver updates.
Please tell me it isnt so.

311.83 is the latest MSI driver. MSI will release a new driver if necessary. It is also quite normal that the nvidia drivers don't work with customized OEM solutions. You can ask MSI for the next release: >>How to contact MSI.<<

Where are you getting backgrounds, textures, and templates for CS6?

I'm just curious about good web sites to download royalty free backgrounds, templates, textures, etc. for Photoshop. I'm willing to pay a small annual fee to join the site, but of course free is always good too. I'd rather avoid places like iStock- I'm looking more for a site that has Photoshop or other design applications in mind.
I've found a couple of sites through Google, but they seem old and not updated as often (they still mention compatibility with CS4 and 5).
So what are your favorite sites?

Thanks, but I'm thinking more along the lines of something like cgtextures.com. Great site with lots of stuff but the vast majority are photos. I'd also like templates and non-photo images.
For example, the other day I had to create a "Wanted: Dead or Alive" poster for someone. I found some good tutorial instructions on how to do it (I'm a photographer, not a graphics artist, so I need all the help I can get when it comes to graphics). One of the steps had me downloading some textures for the poster's background that no longer existed on the Internet, so I had to improvise a little.
I'd love to find a template for something like that that already has all the important elements in it. While I love learning new stuff, sometimes I have a deadline and it just has to get done. Open template, pop in picture, do some adjustments, etc.... done.
So I'm looking for templates along the lines of Photobacks, for example.
And I'm looking for non-photo graphics like you'd find on, for example, a band or movie poster.
Again, not being a graphics artist, I'm not going to go and recreate all that stuff. I have no problem paying a small fee... I just don't want to pay $30 for a star burst or a bolt of lightning that will end of being one little tiny element in a bigger work.
