While working with ADF-BC we always have 2 options, setting it inside VO or inside EO, where do you guys put them?
I usually prefer to put it inside EO because of reuse, but I want to hear from someone that uses it inside VO his/her reasons
to do that.
Two label's with different names for the same attribute? Sounds a bit strange to me...

The best practice is to put it at the lower level - EO - since then it applies to any VO based on that EO.
The reason you can put it in a VO is for cases where you want to overwrite the way it is displayed in specific scenarios.

Where do you set drawing mode in preferences? Can't find anywhere

I read Chris' response to the issue of the screen going dark when using tools. He said to set the drawing mode to basic in preferences. I can't find an option anywhere in preferences to do this. Where do I go to accomplish this?

Preferences -> Performance -> GPU section, click the Advanced button.
But you're still better off updating the video card driver from the GPU maker's website to work around the Win8 GPU bug.

Where do you set bits per sample from 16 to 24 bits in 5.1.

When making a 5.1 and compressor I seem to have a problem setting the bits per sample. It seems to be locked in at 16 bits I would like to set it to 24. Cannot seem to find where to set it up.

HI James, just a thought, I think you'll be abe to specify this in the Copressor.app V4.1 Inspector with that batch sub-item selected.
Try this.
in Compressor.app V4.1 UI "Current" select the subitem that you want to deal with.
Open the inspector (+4, command+4)
select the AUDIO tab in the inspector (right hand side upp screen)
Scroll down to: Audio Properties and there might be something there that has "Sample Size" or similar.
See if that works.
Post your reults for others to see.

How / where do you set the print gridlines?

I have searched for the format link to print the horizontal and verical (column and row ) gridlines. The print preview shows the gridlines but the finished page omits them.

I wonder if you have a printer problem, or if the lines just need to be thicker or darker for them to print well on your system.
The default lines are thin and faint, very understated. It's a what you see is what you get system, but seeing on the monitor can seem different than what you get on paper when it comes to color.

How do you set up User Groups?

I will be setting up several user accounts on my mac (running OS 10.4.6). Next, I would like to be able to share certain folders and files on my mac with only some of the users. I can see that in the ownership and permissions tab (under "get info") there is a tab for selecting "groups". How can I make use of this?
Where do you set up groups of users? I would like to assign some of my users into a single group so that when I set a file to be accessible to this group I may do so simply by selecting the file and assigning it to this group but I can't seem to find a place to set up the user accounts into groups.

What are all the default groups that I see when I scroll down the menu of group choices?
PS What does it mean to assign a file's owner to "system".

PS I am running a regular client version of OSX Tiger (not OSX server). I mention this because I have a bad feeling that "groups" may only be an option if you are using OSX server but I would need this to be confirmed.
Now that I have written my question I think I have found another solution using Netinfo to create groups however the most important link is broken:

Open the NetInfo Manager in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, click the padlock, type in your password, and then duplicate an existing group, such as admin or certusers. Assign the newly-created group an unique name and numeric gid; the gid should be between 400 and 499 to minimize the possibility of it conflicting with something added in future. Click the triangle next to the users property and change the entries in that property to match those of the accounts you want to be members of it. All the existing groups will be shown here as well; they are necessary for various system-level functions, and shouldn't be deleted.

This changes the owner to the root account, which is basically Mac OS X itself, as opposed to someone logging into the machine.

Where would you check performance of webi? query is taking long time to run

In the bex query world running on portal you were able to go to sm50 and check what the query is doing and where it is taking a long time or atleast you were able to see the processes runing.
Where would you check the running processes when you are running a webi query, we are trying to write a webi report which is on universe which is created on bex query. The report is very simple just two fields and an mandatory variable which is coming from bex query (have defined the variable in bex query). When we exeute the query it is taking a long time just spinning and I am not getting any data back, on the same query before even hitting the run query button, I am trying to put a object in query filters and set the filter as In list from Value(s) from list and it is taking forever to set that filter.
Can we go to CMC or BW backend and check anywhere we are using sap authentication, I see the number of sessions in CMC but that is it.

All our universes are on BEx queries designed in SAP BW in that case does the array fetch size matter and array bind size matter? I had read this in oneof the universe designer manuals for OLAP universes The Array fetch size, Array bind size, and Login timeout parameters are not used for OLAP connections

when i activated the account i ticked the upgrade button, should i have ticked the new account button?
anyway, when i do what you say (below) there is not a manage "Accounts button" so i went to reactive it again ( for a new account) and is says that the activation key is all ready in use.
Denis, go to www.mac.com and sign into your account. Click on the word "Account" at the top of the left hand column. You will need to sign in again for security purposes. Once your account settings show up, click on the "Manage Accounts" button and you can take care of everything.
i think i hit a brick wall !!
