Where does Firefox store images saved as desktop wallpaper?

Where does Firefox store images saved as desktop wallpaper? i was playing around with windows theme and I can't find the wallpaper that was displayed before.

Firefox saves downloads to wherever you specify. Check your settings in Tools > Options > General, Download section. If you have it set to "Always ask me where to save files", then only you know where they were saved.

  • Virtual PC 6 for Mac - where does VP store my saved documents in Panther???

We have a 15" PowerBook running 10.3.9 with Virtual PC 6. We bought the software so we can run GoldMine for our client database. Can anyone tell me where Virtual PC stores my saved documents in Panther when VP is not running?
Like any application I am assuming there has to be a root folder in the system that it accesses while running? You can see the saved documents in VP but I am having a difficult time finding them in the system. Of course the Microsoft website is a joke when it comes to support.

"You can see the saved documents in VP but I am having a difficult time finding them in the system."
That's because they're in your installation of Windows, and not on your Mac. Therefore you can't access them unless you've booted into virtual PC. Your only option would be to setup a shared folder from within VPC and save your documents there. That way you can access them from both Mac and Windows.
Also, since VPC is not an Apple product, I suggest you head toward the Microsoft Office:Mac forums found at http://www.microsoft.com/mac/community/community.aspx?pid=newsgroups
That group is dedicated to user questions about MS Office:Mac applications, including VPC. You'll find more answers in that forum rather than an Apple forum dealing the Mac/Windows compatibility.

  • Where does Firefox Store the bookmarks in the bookmark bar for Windows and is t viewable using a text editor?

''Duplicate post, continue here - [/questions/776604]''
My PC's motherboard has fried and as such I am working of a beatup laptop. I have a device allowing me to hookup my sATA drive to my laptop and would like to find my bookmarks I store in the bookmark bar without losing the one on my laptop.
    Thanks.

The bookmarks are stored in a file called places.sqlite in the [[profiles|profile folder]]. This file is not viewable in a text editor.
One way to do this would be to create a new profile (Firefox stores user data in the profile folder), you can then copy the bookmarks and other user data such as passwords to the new profile. You will then have access to the data from the PC and will still have your current laptop data in its own profile.
For details on doing this see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows Creating a new Firefox profile on Windows] and [[Recovering important data from an old profile]].

  • Where does firefox cache the form parameters to be used in the reload event of a page that was the resposne of a HTTP POST request?

Suppose there is form in a web page and it submits data in HTTP POST method. After submitting the form, if I reload the page [either by the refresh button or back button; whichever applicable], firefox asks permission to resend the form data by saying "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action...". Now if the user clicks on the resend, firefox resubmits the form data.
So where does firefox store this from data for such future resending/resubmission?
Is it possible to retrieve/manipulate those stored form data?

I thought I'd tried that, as tried lots of other things like encoding URL, but obviously not as this works.
    Thanks for the quick reply.

  • Where does Keynote store the audio files in a presentation

I have slides with individual audio files. When I import or attach the file and then save the presentation, it changes the file name to .mov extension. Where does Keynote store those files? I would like to edit the saved Keynote version, but cannot locate the .mov file!

I'm not exactly sure of what you want to do, and I'm not sure if my answer is the most efficient, or even wholly correct, but here goes ...
When you save a KN presentation (a KN doc) which includes an audio (or movie) file, you can save it 2 (3?) ways: either without or with the file being copied into the document, or as a "package". In a test file I just made with 3 white slides (title, slide with song, second slide with song) the results:
without: 3.8 MB; with: 9.4 MB; package: 9.4 MB. The essential difference, aside from size, is that if saved without, if you play the KN on another machine which doesn't have those audio files on it, the audio won't be there. To make the KN truly portable, you must save with, or as a package. (I'm not too sure of the concept of package in KN. In PP, saving as a package means you end up with a folder, which contains the PP and the media files, each as separate entities. Saving a KN package yields not a folder but a file, which looks to me identical to the result achieved by simply saving with, and seems to behave identically, as well.) The audio file you used will in any case remain where it was before you used it, but, if the KN doc is saved with, or as a package, a copy of it will go into the KN doc.
But then, what do you mean by "edit"? What do you want to edit, the KN presentation, or the audio file within it? If the former, I don't understand where the problem might be. If the latter: using the QT inspector within KN, you can change the length of the audio file (where in the song it starts and stops), whether to start it on click, or automatically after transition, or to loop it. If you wanted to do some other, more exotic audio editing, like reverbs or other effects, I'd do that on (a copy of) the original audio file (found wherever it was before) with another app (GarageBand, for instance), and then I'd replace the first, non-edited, version of the audio file in the KN doc with that.
    Have I missed something?
Message edited by gbdoc: maybe someone will chime in to clarify the difference between "saved with" and a "package"

  • [Mac][JS] Where does InDesign store last "Save As" folder path?

Is this location accessible to scripting? I've looked around the preferences objects as well as the "Class" properties of the File and Folder objects without finding anything.
Coming up empty-handed there, I looked through the filesystem for .plist files it might be using. It must be stored in some such place, because the location persists across sessions and survives a trashing of the InDesign Defaults file at ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 7.0/en_US/InDesign Defaults. It also seems to write the location to wherever it lives immediately upon a Save As rather than at application close. I've tried discovering the location with lsof but either can't catch it in the act or am missing which of the hundreds of files InDesign has open is the culprit.
It does not appear to be in com.adobe.InDesign.plist or com.adobe.mediabrowser.plist. There is a path property (NSNavLastRootDirectory) stored in the former file but it's not the one.
I hope I'm making this more complicated than it is and that it can be accessed in a DOM property somewhere. Does anyone know?
    Jeff

So you're asking the wrong question. You dont' care "where does InDesign store it," you care "where can I get it?"
Actually I'd like to set it as well as get it. I would like to integrate with InDesign's expected behavior as much as possible; it would be ideal if, the next time a user did a Save As, it defaulted to the location they had chosen when they ran my script. Little inconsistencies like that drive me batty. It's a small issue and quite likely not worth the time I'm spending on it, but at this point I'm so confused by how InDesign is maintaining these paths that I would like to understand for understanding's sake.
The InDesign Saved Data cache file you pointed out does indeed contain a lot of paths, and these kinds of save, import and export locations appear to be among them. They jump around in the file a lot, though. If you have any experience parsing this file and can help me look for whatever markers it uses I would be grateful.
While in my earlier tests I never saw any path property in com.adobe.InDesign.plist but NSNavLastRootDirectory, I have since sometimes seen NSNavLastCurrentDirectory:GetFile:0 and NSNavLastCurrentDirectory:PutFile:0, and these do hold what you would expect. However, all installed versions of InDesign read and write to this file without affecting each other's behavior in this regard. And I haven't been able to figure out yet when InDesign writes or reads the path to its cache file and when it uses the .plist file.
Complicating things further, it looks to me like calling File.saveDialog() in CS5 brings up the folder in NSNavLastRootDirectory, regardless of what was last chosen during a Save As in the UI, while CS4 respected the last Save As. Using the value in NSNavLastRootDirectory via
    var startFolder = Folder(app.doScript("return (do shell script \"defaults read \" & \"com.adobe.InDesign\" & \" NSNavLastRootDirectory\")",ScriptLanguage.APPLESCRIPT_LANGUAGE))
will at least allow me to prevent the user from landing in a restricted folder in CS5.

  • Where does mail store downloaded photos

Where does mail store downloaded photos?

If I understood you... you can export your entire iPhoto library to an external Hard Drive? I could only see import option...
You're welcome. Yes, that is correct. In iPhoto, File > Export... > Select external drive.
You said your drive has to be specially formatted - is that for if you want to export your photos to that drive? Or do you mean if you wanted the iPhoto library to be located primarily on the hard drive?
I meant the latter > specifically, your external drive would need to be formatted in this manner if you wanted your primary iPhoto library to reside on an external drive and function correctly. This format is the format of your MBP's internal drive.
Format the drive as FAT32 using disk utility to make the drive universally compatible between OSX/windows. Place the JPEG images on the drive. Transfer between machines with no problem.

  • Where does MAX store channel config such as names, input type, and scalers

Where does MAX store the channel configuration such as the channel names, input type (volts, current, etc), and scaling info?
Unfortunately, our hard drive failed and our Labview back up folder didn't include the MAX channel description/configuration.  Our hard drive is currently at a data recovery service and it would be much simpler if we could recover the file instead of re-creating all the channels within MAX.  Any help to find the actual location and file name/s would be greatly appreciated.
We are currently using Labview 7.1 on an XP platform that is now freshly installed.  Once I complete the install, I plan on making a ghost image of the drive to prevent this from every happening again

  • Where does Firefox cache videos? (I checked the Cache foler. Not there)

The FireFox' disk cache foler is set to ''D:\Cache'' (I set it so from about:config).
I cleared the disk cache, watched a YouTube video (almost 2 minute long), then looked into ''D:\Cache''. But the video I had watched was not there! (I found two .SWF files. But their sizes were smaller than 250K. And, stand-alone SWF players couldn't play them. Therefore, they can't be YouTube videos.)
So, where does Firefox cache videos?

Firefox doesn't cache videos on disk. The Flash player that plays the videos is in the cache, but the videos are streamed and not saved. They may be kept in the memory cache during the play.
You can check the cache on the about:cache page.

Where does Messages store attachments on the iPad?
some photos are quite large, so it would be good to know where they go, and how to manage the app.... ;)

Managing memory usage is not possible because the user does not have access to the file structure (unless you have jail broken your iPad that is).
