Where does iDVD 4 store the Templates on the HD ?

I'm hoping that I can import an iDVD 4 template into DVD studio pro.
Can anyone tell me where I could find them on my HD ?
Just looking for "Wedding Bronze 1" template from iDVD4.
Any help appreciated.

I wish it was that simple. iDVD and DVD SP have different needs.
You can probably easily find the Wedding Bronze theme package with a File>Find search (I just did). Then contol-click on the theme package icon to show the package contents. This will enable you to find the background imag(s) used so you can create your own theme in DVD SP.

Why does iDVD store stuff "all over the place"? Project now broken

Hi all,
did an hour long family movie project, and in the meantime cleaned up my documents folder and deleted some stuff that I thought was internet downloads etc, or extra working files.
Turns out it was the important audio stuff for iDVD!
I've broken my project... the stuff was obviously important, and now when I open this project it has a big broken chain on it.
Why does iDVD store important stuff "all over the place" like that? I mean, it's confusing enough (for newbies) to learn where the events and where the projects are stored, but why does it strip off the sound and store them in documents where ANYTHING could get deleted?

Just to add, an iDVD project should be thought of as a shell, an empty container. It has references to the media files used in it, but does not actually contain these files. The files remain in their normal locations. When you burn to disk, or create a disk image file, iDVD pulls these files just for encoding onto a DVD disk or into a disk image file. It does not really move these files into its project files. Your iMovies, photos and audio files remain where they are. If you move, change, rename or delete any of these files, iDVD will not be able to locate them, and you will see the broken link images.
For this and several other reasons, it is a good idea to leave everything alone and not go deleting any files until you have finished your iDVD project.
Then, when you are ready to burn it to DVD disk, be sure to do a 'Save as disk image' to create a disk image file of the project. This process looks like the burn process, and the encoding will take just as long, but the end result is a self-contained disk image file, not a burned DVD disk.
The advantage of the disk image file is that you will have an exact copy of your iDVD project with all the media files encoded into it. You now can safely delete all the media used in this iDVD project without losing the project. Now you can clean up your documents folder! Deleting all the files used in the project will also save you drive space.
You can save disk image files as backups and can move them to external drives or other computers. You can burn DVD disks from disk image files using Disk Utility or Toast. You don't have to worry about your burned DVD disk breaking/melting or having something spilled on it (kids in the house!). You can always get the disk image file and burn another copy. (Great for the relatives who somehow 'lose' the great DVD you made for them!).
You cannot edit the disk image files however, so you should be creating one only when your project is completely finished.
If you wish to save all your iDVD files while you are working on a project, you can archive your iDVD project. I have not found the need to do this, but the link J Keller gave you for the tutorial explains how to save as archive and as disk image. Obviously, the archive project will be larger since it is saving all the media. Archived projects can also be moved to other drives or computers.
Hope you can recreate your project.
Note to J Keller: the video tutorial was quick and gave the brief how-to and why. Nothing complicated.

Where does iDVD store my ingested video?

I tried to do a One Step DVD, and I think ran out of storage as it was encoding. Now my hard drive is full. Where can I find the file of the ingested video so I can trash it?

What happens if you launch iDvd and then go File > Open recent?
Does it open the most recent or not?
If by chance it were to open, then go to File > Save as (and save it to the desktop. Drag and drop it to the trash and lastly restart your mac. (Might also want to repair permissions in the event the above works).
But if the above fails ......
One can type the following into the finder and hit return :
.dvdproj
This will generate a list of all iDvd projects on your mac from which you can select which to maintain or dispose of.
However one step dvd’s are a bit different. Typically this type of dvd generates a .mov
so type in the following into the finder and hit return:
.mov
Most likely if you’ve been working with video for a while you’ll see many items.
Suggestion: Go thru each item, one at a time until you find the project you last worked on. Drag and drop to the trash. Empty the trash.
Restart your mac and repair permission from appl’s disc utility.

Managing memory usage is not possible because the user does not have access to the file structure (unless you have jail broken your iPad that is).

Where does Keynote store the audio files in a presentation

I have slides with individual audio files. When I import or attach the file and then save the presentation, it changes the file name to .mov extension. Where does Keynote store those files? I would like to edit the saved Keynote version, but cannot locate the .mov file!

I'm not exactly sure of what you want to do, and I'm not sure if my answer is the most efficient, or even wholly correct, but here goes ...
When you save a KN presentation (a KN doc) which includes an audio (or movie) file, you can save it 2 (3?) ways: either without or with the file being copied into the document, or as a "package". In a test file I just made with 3 white slides (title, slide with song, second slide with song) the results:
without: 3.8 MB; with: 9.4 MB; package: 9.4 MB. The essential difference, aside from size, is that if saved without, if you play the KN on another machine which doesn't have those audio files on it, the audio won't be there. To make the KN truly portable, you must save with, or as a package. (I'm not too sure of the concept of package in KN. In PP, saving as a package means you end up with a folder, which contains the PP and the media files, each as separate entities. Saving a KN package yields not a folder but a file, which looks to me identical to the result achieved by simply saving with, and seems to behave identically, as well.) The audio file you used will in any case remain where it was before you used it, but, if the KN doc is saved with, or as a package, a copy of it will go into the KN doc.
But then, what do you mean by "edit"? What do you want to edit, the KN presentation, or the audio file within it? If the former, I don't understand where the problem might be. If the latter: using the QT inspector within KN, you can change the length of the audio file (where in the song it starts and stops), whether to start it on click, or automatically after transition, or to loop it. If you wanted to do some other, more exotic audio editing, like reverbs or other effects, I'd do that on (a copy of) the original audio file (found wherever it was before) with another app (GarageBand, for instance), and then I'd replace the first, non-edited, version of the audio file in the KN doc with that.
Have I missed something?

Why does iDVD revert to the template at the end?

Hi Guys,
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter break!
I'm trying to produce a workflow for a project I'm currently working on in both iMovie & iDVD.
My problem is:
Once I've chosen the "Share" option in iMovie and iDVD opens, I;m going to need to burn the footage onto DVD without the use of a template! So I choose the map view, drag the footage across to the first window & test it (as it tells you to do in the map window)!
That's OK too . . . .. but why oh why, when the DVD finishes, does iDVD revert back to the template (Usually the Revolution Theme)?
I need to DVD to loop back to the start of the footage at the very least (would be better to simply stop at the end of the DVD) . . . how do I do this?

Depends on game, i would look first on the game file itself, right click (or ctrl click) the game file you installed (Applications?) and select show package contents, its usually a application bundle, as in basicly a folder where the application and the required files and subfolders are.

We have an intranet application, we use the portal security and login screen, etc.
I have written a stored procedure which requires two parameters. One of them we already have at the time we need to call it. The other is username. All we need
to know is how to get the username at the time we must call it. Where does portal store the username after a successful log in for the particular session this user is logged into?
I tried using the following syntax,
When i log in using PORTAL30 then it returns,
SQL> select portal30.wwctx_api.get_user()

PORTAL30
But when i logged in using some other user i.e.rtemps it returns,

PUBLIC
Why does it return PUBLIC, instead of RTEMPS?
rtemps is a Database user though.
How do i test this script for portal users?
Also my application is a multiple user application.
So at a given time, there could be more than user logged in, also there could be more than one sessions of the same user logged in.
what happens in that scenario?

The first page my user goes to log in, is

when i look at this stored procedure, it makes a call to the following procedure,

and passes a parameter ssousername
From here my user is directed to the home page, which is built using the portlets, the URL for the same is,

I have 1 HTML PORTLET, on this page, and the code behind this looks like,

Again this is a HTML portlet, so i don't think it will recognize the psp tags.. so that probably might be another issue.
But this is what i want to accomplish. So i can use the user who logged in, for my audit trail application, which will be inserting a record in a database table, everytime, the user runs reports that are being clicked.. like link 1 in above example.
I don't understand why this is so hard.

I have already wasted my 2 to 3 hour just trying to find "where does ODI stores its value for variables if type is text". Certainly "SNP_VAR" is not the anwser.
Following ways I have tried:
(1) Cannot find any column tat can hold more than 400 characters in my work repository.
(2) Trying to set up trace on Oracle drive to find out sql getting issues when we hit refresh button on ODI variable. Is anyone aware how to trace driver sqls ?

Hi Amit,
When it is a text variable it is stored at SNP_EXP_TXT in so many records as necessary once the text is "broken" in blocks of 256 character lenght. It means that if the variable has a text with 700 characters you will find 3 records at SNP_EXP_TXT.

Example: We have Content Administration under which we create iviews, pages, worksets and roles. Where does this gets stored ? do they get stored in some table as shown below ?

To get the data from the portal database you need to use a datasource lookup.

Where does EBS store customized LOV elements?

We are developing a report on EBS r12 >> Payables >> Payments screen.
The Functional Consultants Team added a DFF ( view_inv_pay.DESC_FLEX ) with only 1 segment and its description at the Invoice Payment block level ( VIEW_INV_PAY )
which synchronizes with each matched row in this block.
The values of the DFF come by selecting from an attached customized List of value that the Functional Consultants Team had populated its elements using data loader.
We have a requirement to display the DESCRIPTION of DFF segment in the report not its actual value.
So the question is:
Where does EBS store the data related to a customized LOV ?
And how to join between the LOV’s under laying tables and the below report tables
( AP_CHECKS_ALL AC , HZ_PARTIES HZP , AP_SUPPLIERS PV , GL_DAILY_CONVERSION_TYPES GDCT , AP_INVOICE_PAYMENTS_ALL AIP , AP_INVOICES_ALL AI ) to display the DFF description?
Since, only the actual DFF values are stored in AP_INVOICE_PAYMENTS_ALL table.
