Where does Indesign CC pull fonts from?

I think it is only pulling from my user profile, not my hard disk. Frustrating!

It will read any valid, well constructed font that is installed in your operating system as well as a couple other places like in a font folder under the document folder.
What font are you having issues with? Where are they installed? What OS?

Where does the data get saved from (notepad) or Notes on Windows Mobile 5?
(ON the Phone)  Sticky note like program WM5
I ask because I synced my Blackjack 1 to my pc after about a year and MANY notes later, All the notes from the PC remained but ALL new notes on phone (a years worth) were deleted from the phone.
I would like to attempt a data recovery on my mobile device- that was an insane endeavor but i got it to work now i just need to know what to look for (what type of files to recover) and or where to recover from?
I did make the phone a drive already and have data recovery software that can pull deleted files from the phone in fat or raw data format.
    Thanks.

  • [Mac][JS] Where does InDesign store last "Save As" folder path?

Is this location accessible to scripting? I've looked around the preferences objects as well as the "Class" properties of the File and Folder objects without finding anything.
Coming up empty-handed there, I looked through the filesystem for .plist files it might be using. It must be stored in some such place, because the location persists across sessions and survives a trashing of the InDesign Defaults file at ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 7.0/en_US/InDesign Defaults. It also seems to write the location to wherever it lives immediately upon a Save As rather than at application close. I've tried discovering the location with lsof but either can't catch it in the act or am missing which of the hundreds of files InDesign has open is the culprit.
It does not appear to be in com.adobe.InDesign.plist or com.adobe.mediabrowser.plist. There is a path property (NSNavLastRootDirectory) stored in the former file but it's not the one.
I hope I'm making this more complicated than it is and that it can be accessed in a DOM property somewhere. Does anyone know?
    Jeff

So you're asking the wrong question. You dont' care "where does InDesign store it," you care "where can I get it?"
Actually I'd like to set it as well as get it. I would like to integrate with InDesign's expected behavior as much as possible; it would be ideal if, the next time a user did a Save As, it defaulted to the location they had chosen when they ran my script. Little inconsistencies like that drive me batty. It's a small issue and quite likely not worth the time I'm spending on it, but at this point I'm so confused by how InDesign is maintaining these paths that I would like to understand for understanding's sake.
The InDesign Saved Data cache file you pointed out does indeed contain a lot of paths, and these kinds of save, import and export locations appear to be among them. They jump around in the file a lot, though. If you have any experience parsing this file and can help me look for whatever markers it uses I would be grateful.
While in my earlier tests I never saw any path property in com.adobe.InDesign.plist but NSNavLastRootDirectory, I have since sometimes seen NSNavLastCurrentDirectory:GetFile:0 and NSNavLastCurrentDirectory:PutFile:0, and these do hold what you would expect. However, all installed versions of InDesign read and write to this file without affecting each other's behavior in this regard. And I haven't been able to figure out yet when InDesign writes or reads the path to its cache file and when it uses the .plist file.
Complicating things further, it looks to me like calling File.saveDialog() in CS5 brings up the folder in NSNavLastRootDirectory, regardless of what was last chosen during a Save As in the UI, while CS4 respected the last Save As. Using the value in NSNavLastRootDirectory via
    var startFolder = Folder(app.doScript("return (do shell script \"defaults read \" & \"com.adobe.InDesign\" & \" NSNavLastRootDirectory\")",ScriptLanguage.APPLESCRIPT_LANGUAGE))
will at least allow me to prevent the user from landing in a restricted folder in CS5.

  • Where does the default route come from ?

    Dear All
As we know, the edge router in client side gets default route from ISP' edge router. Where does the default route come from in ISP? If the ISP edge router has full route table, it produces there. If not, it comes from its upstream router until full routes table(only BGP). Please correct me if I am wrong. Thank you.

    Hello.
While establishing BGP with ISP, there are three options for a client:
    > Default route (used in general) - client router forwards every request (for destination route) to ISP router.
    > Full route - ISP router's complete routing table would be received and maintained in client router.
    > Partial route - Only specific route would be received from ISP (Head office - Branch office scenario)
ISP generate default route from their peering router that should have full routing table or knowledge of the router having it. A local ISP may generate default to their client and have one received from their upstream or global / larger ISP. Hope this helps.

The answer is that your iPhone (the device you are turning AirDrop on from) supplies the contact details.

  • Where does destination country info come from on SD Billing ???

On our SD invoice - in the lower portion of Item Details tab - I can see the first field as
DestCtryOrde  - this shows the value  CA or Canada
When I check my SD order - nowhere do I find the field Destination Country  ( I have also checked sold-to and ship-to party)
Can anyone please let me know - where does the value DestCtryOrdr in the invoice come from???
    Thanks,
    SM

    Hi,
Destination country is same as the country of your ship-to-party.
    Go to the T.Code "SE11/SE16".
Enter the table name as "VBPA".
Enter your sales order number for the field "VBELN".Execute.
Get the "KUNNR" for the PARVW = "WE".
    Goto the table "KNA1".
Pass this "KUNNR" here and Execute.Get the value of the field "LAND1".
It is the same as the value you have identified in your invoice.
Goto the T.Code "VA02".Enter your Sales order number.Enter.
    Goto Header-->Billing document tab.
Goto the field "Tax destination country".This field is used for  determinining the tax.The country of the ship-to party is used as the tax country of destination. That is field is also similar to this.Even this field is blank, the field you have identified in invoice will be having a value because ship-to-party's country is mandatory one.

  • Where does Photoshop CS5 pull custom color profiles from?

Photoshop CS5 is not seeing my new custom color profiles for my scanner when i try to "Assign profile" or "Convert profile". it sees my old profiles that I used in CS4. i have made sure to copy the profiles the following directories:
    /System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
    /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
    myuseraccount/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
where else does CS5 pull color profiles from? By the way, those old color profiles DO NOT exist in the above directories. your help is greatly appreciated.
    I am running Photoshop CS5 12.0.1 x32 on mac os x 10.6.4.

In all honesty, I've never had occasion to think about any such "reconciliation".  I've never re-named a profile's file name in the Finder, and in the few cases where I've run into a discrepancy there, I just make it a point to remember the internal name and forget about the other one.

  • InDesign CC removed fonts from my system

    Hi Folks,
Installed the new InDesign CC on my system last night and it removed a number of open type fonts, which I was using in some books I been creating.
I had creative suite 6 previously installed, which was not removed after the InDesign CC, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC and Bridge CC were installed.
I am not sure whether or not the previous software should have been removed first or the CC installation just upgraded the existing software installation.
Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

    Hi pgons,
I have installed all the latest updates to InDesign CC, the last was was two days ago and it all works now.
After further investigation, for some reason it does not actually remove the fonts, but refuses to recognise them, but my ID CC now works fine.
One of the things from the old days, which I keep doing is after installing new software, I always shut down and then restart my machine and it seems to cure most problems.
I do think that Adobe seem to have rushed the release of ID CC, but they seem to be on top of fixing the problems with it.
Sorry I cannot be of anymore use to you, but if I come across any specific solution, I will post it on this thread.
How you get it sorted - I know how frustrating it is.

  • Does InDesign rasterize SVG's from Edge?

I created an Edge animation whose ultimate destination is for an iPad app authored in InDesign. To avoid any font issues and to make this viewable in all iPad flavors (retina), I imported three lines of text as well as a text logo as SVG files from Illustrator. All fonts were converted to paths:
    http://www.ampersandmiami.com/edge/
The link above is what Edge created when publishing for web. It is indeed SVGs and they do appear as such in my desktop machine, on my ipad and on my iphone when I view it using Safari. When I pinch and zoom in, all is rasor sharp. Perfect.
    Here is the issue…
I unzipped the .oam file Edge creates for import into InDesign. Just to make sure, all my SVGs are there in the images folder. Edge did not create raster versions of any of them. So far so good...
But, when I place the .oam file in InDesign and preview the app on my ipad using the Aobe Content Viewer, the SVGs are rasterized. I zoom in and they are pixelated. Not good for retina ipads.
Is there a way of importing my Edge animation and retaining the SVGs as vectors and not making them rasters? Is this an InDesign limitation?
My solution might be to create PNGs at twice the size and scale them down in Edge rather than using SVGs. This way, they might display properly on retina ipads.
    Any thoughts?

Hey Troy, apologies for the delay.
I just tried this and did not experience the issue you describe. I went through nine copy (Illustrator) and paste (Edge) process. Each came through successfully.
I don't suppose you are hitting a memory issue! I have 16gigs of Ram so I may be getting more use out of my upper memory allocation. I am also using the latest versions of both - is this your case as well.
If need be and you want to get all of the states separated as svg, individually, you may want to have to a look at this Illustrator script - Export Illustrator Layers to SVG files | Thomas Byrne

I'm trying to figure out a larger problem with InDesign and InCopy files and was curious about where the names comes from. When I add a story to an assignment it doesn't ask me for a name. It seems it is using a name from sometime in the document's past.
