Where does iphone back my pictures up to?

I see my photo stream pictures in iphoto and I want to delete many and leave only my favorites.  When I delete from the iphoto Event "June Photostream" does that mean that photo is gone for good, or just from the photo stream?  I'm confused.  Also, I was wondering where on my mac is a folder of all my iphone photos?  If I want to perminetly delete a photo how do I do it?
Thank you, Michele

you can not pic and choose which photos go in photostream and delete the ones you do not want- they either all go in or not at all

  • Where does iPhone configuration utility store data?

Where does iPhone configuration utility store profiles and other data on the system? I know you can export the individual profiles to back them up, but I would like to just backup the entire iPhone Configuration Utility storage location.

Thanks for the reply. It helped me get more information on where to find it on the Mac. Here's the location for the Mac if anyone else needs the information:
Your home folder > Library > MobileDevice
There are folders in the "MobileDevice" folder that contain data for iPhone Configuration Utility (configuration profiles, device information, etc.)

  • Where does iPhone store contacts?

    Hello,
I will be in a different country for a few days and I will buy a SIM card from a different operator over there.
Where does iPhone store contacts? Will my contacts stay on the phone with the new SIM card?
    Thank you.

Contacts are stored on the device. The iPhone does not store contacts on the SIM. Make sure you have been backing up the device and syncing your contacts with a supported application on the computer or iCloud or other cloud service. Changing the SIM will not affect your contacts.

  • Where does iPhone store backups in Mac and Windows?

Sorry I could not find the answer elsewhere.
Where does iPhone store backups on Windows and Mac?
    Can the location be changed?
    Thanks!

    Mac:
    Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
(Note you may need to turn on show hidden files and folders to see it on Windows)
As far as I know, you can't change it.
    Good Luck!
EDIT: Too slow to post :P.

If it there is a backup you will find in in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup.  (Just open Finder>Go>Go To Folder..., past this in the path box and click Go.)

  • What's the Deal with the iPhone Backup? Where Does It Back Up to?

When my iPhone does its backup thing (and gee I wish I could turn that off permanently but nothing seems to stick in the preferences... have to stop it manually in iTunes each time... anyway...), where does the backup reside? It takes a couple of hours to do a backup, so I'd think there was a lot of actual content being moved to my Mac. But there's 14GB of content on my iPhone and my hard drive isn't losing 14GB of storage space... not even 100MB from what I can tell!
So what's really happening during a "backup"? If I wipe the content off my iPhone with a restore, where will the backup content come from?

On a Mac, the iPhone's backup file is stored at Home > Library > Application Support > MobileSync > Backup.
The iPhone's backup stores data such as most iPhone settings, SMS messages, email account settings, notes, recent calls, call favorites, 3rd party applications or some 3rd party applications and any data created/stored by a 3rd party application, and photos captured by your iPhone.
The backup does not store iTunes content, contact information, bookmarks, or photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone. This data should be available on your computer.
Basically the iPhone's backup stores all data not included with the sync process.
When performing a Restore with iTunes, the options are to restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, or as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
If you constantly cancel the backup process, this may cause the backup to become corrupt and if you never allow it to finish, you won't be able to restore what should be saved with the backup.
How many 3rd party applications do you have installed and regularly use that create/store data?
And do you have a number of photos that were captured by your iPhone available that have not been imported by your computer and then erased from your iPhone as with any other digital camera?
If so and you regularly capture more photos, these are included with the backup.

  • Where does iphone backup when hooked to mac

When I plug my iphone into my Mac.  It automatically backups up when iTunes launches.  Where does it backup to and can I turn this off?

Just to 'Help' and not to 'Bash', my personal experiences are that having backups enabled (both in iCloud and on my Mac) is a VERY secure and safe set of options, even if I have to select each option independently in order to benefit from both!
Having had a Mac failure and a 'connected device' failure in succession, I've been able to recover both from backups (including a Time Capsule in the mix) without ANY data-loss, solely because of having adequate backups in the 'Apple' world linked to my AppleID.
I have friends who think that Apple has some 'other' motive for backups: something to do with spying on individuals (or other mistaken reasoning).
Someone said "Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean that they're not out to get you!", but who is SO important that Apple would waste their time using their SERVICES to HARM any individual by spying on them?  If an individual is worried about 'others' having access to Apple, then perhaps that individual needs to think more about their possibly 'questionable' activities which might make that individual a target for the 'others' about whom they are so concerned?
To me, if a company offers a service and breaks its own rules surrounding that service then SUE THEM FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL!!  Otherwise, use the service, wisely, for your own benefit!

  • Where does iphone 4 store files

I was looking for a free ebook file which I found through Safari on my iPhone 4 but accidentally clicked the link to download the file which I meant to do at home on my iMac. I don't know if the download even worked but if it did, does anyone know where the RAR file may have been stored. If it was, do I need to be concerned if I can't find it? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

That's good to know. I was worried that it might do something to the system if it was downloaded. Thanks for the info!

  • Where does iphone put backup files? I have time machine, ios 10.6.7, iphone 3. Thanks!

SMS's are included in the iPhone backup:

iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

Restore to Factory Settings will not affect any Backup made with iTunes or iCloud.
Once you have Recovered your Device...
Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

  • Where are iPhone/iPhotos stored?

Here is the short version. Upgraded to a new iPhone 4G. Synced my iPhone 3G first. Laptop took a serious dump. I was able to make a backup of the user data before I had to reinstall. Now iPhoto says library is corrupt (won't repair either and have even tried iPhoto Library Manager). My question is where does iPhone/iPhoto store the orginal .jpg files. I would be willing to copy them somewhere - even if I do lose some metadata.
    Please help!
    TIA

You can view the contents of your iPhoto library by option-clicking your library, and selecting "Show Package Contents". The photos that were (in some cases) re-seized for iPhone will be accessible from there.
That's one way to view the contents of your library. If that way fails, they will probably be in your iPhone backup, whether it was made in iCloud or iTunes.

  • I have backed up iphone where does the info go?

i have backed up my iphone where does the infromation go

I'm not sure what you're asking. The "info" is the data sync between your address book, calendar, etc so all that info is supposed to be synced between those apps on the BB and the Mac so the data is resident in those apps.

  • When itunes backs up my iphone where does it store contacts

When itunes backs up my iphone where does it store contacts

iTunes places the backup files in the following locations:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and then choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start, and then in the search bar type %appdata% and press the Return key.
But I doubt you can retrieve contacts from there.
