Where does iTunes 11 put rentals?

After downloading a rental, I can not find where iTunes 11 puts the Movie Rentals. I know that it is in my "Movie" folder and I can play it from there, but where is it on iTunes 11, so I do not have to open up the "Movie" folder to play it?

I have a follow up. I found the answer on another thread. When you rent a movie, you can't have the sidebar view on. Turn that off, and click the "movie" tab. On the top of the screen, the menu options at the top "unmatched/movies/genres/home movies/list" adds another option -- "rented" when you purchase a rental. I just rented something for .99 to test it, and indeed it works, And, I even got the "your movie is available to viewed, do you want to see it now" message.
Oh, edit: you can have the sidebar on. It is just that I never noticed the "rented" option. You have to click on "rented" to see the movie icon in your library. Odd that I did not see that before.

Where does iTunes put iPhone backups in a PC (Windows 7)?

Apps are not backed up, app data is. Apps are already located in iTunes and thus do not need to be backed up. See this support document for information about what is backed up via iTunes.
Are you sure about that, because when I backed up my iPad Mini w/7.0.4 and the newest iTunes, it made a 10gb Backup, which is pretty huge considering I only have a "16" Gb Slate iPad (More Like 13.5 Gb).
When I restored it after Jailbreaking, it moved ALL of the Apps I had bought back in - A neat trick if the Apps themselves are not part of the Backup package- Because the apps had NOT been backed up into iTunes on that PC.
iOS 6 did NOT restore my Apps, even though it did restore my folders.

  • Where does iTunes 7 keep the iPod software?

    Hi All,
I work in technical support and am a bit let down by the current embedded iPod updater in iTunes 7. This works ok except for one thing, after downloading the latest iPod updater from within iTunes 7, i want to transfer the updater to various machines. Searching the libraries came up with nada. Only once i opened up the iTunes 7 package did i find "iPodUpdater.framework" in contents. It also appears that a different updater is downloaded for each model of iPod as opposed to the old stand-alone all-in-one iPod updater. So, Where does iTunes 7 keep the iPod software? We are very bandwidth challenged in my country so it is very handy to be able to keep the latest updates on an external drive, usb disk, etc.
While the embedded updater is nice and clever i think a bit more needs to be done, maybe put it into the Application Support Folder or something?
    Thank you in advance

    Thanx for your reply SeaBeast.
Erm, ok maybe I'm not being clear.
Pre iTunes7: iPod's were updated using the iPod updater application located in /Applications/Utilities. This could be downloaded as a standalone app and showed up in software updater when updating of the app was required. Easy.
iTunes7:iPod updater is now part of iTunes. Updates are downloaded from within iTunes ( iPod model specific it seems ) and sometimes it has to be forced to update, see
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060912144151766
Where does it keep these downloaded updates?
Does it modify the existing "iPod Updater 2006-06-28.app"?
To my knowledge it is now seperate from this. If it was still seperate i could download it from Apple as a stand-alone but as far as i can see this is no longer the case. Please help. Maybe I'm just being a ******* and missing something simple here.
    Thanx again.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.

  • Where does iTunes 11 on Mac OS X store backup files?

I am running Mac OS X 10.8.2 and iTunes 11. Where does iTunes 11 store the backup files for iPhone, iPad, etc? I have looked for a directory ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ -- the MobileSync directory does not exsist and I am looking at all hidden files as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Paul

Make sure you are pointing to the right folder wich is in the home directory:
    i.e: "$HOME/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup"
    Where "$HOME" stands for "/Users/YourUserName"
There is another "Library" folder in the "Macintosh HD" disk
and this one is a non-hidden folder when the one in "/Users/YourUserName" is indeed hidden. This is probably where the confusion comes from (happened to me...)

  • Where does ITunes store my apps on my PC?

Does ITunes store my downloaded and/or purchased apps locally on my PC? My SSD hd was filling up so I moved all the directories from the C:\...Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup directory to my D: hd and now I'm having a problem getting apps to restore to my IPod that I had to wipe clean and do a restore on. So, I need to know if I moved those apps or what.
Also, is there a way to re-download those apps back to my PC if I did move them?
I need to get this IPod restored back to my ITunes account so all my apps will be associated back with this IPod.

iTunes playlists are stored within the library database iTunes Library.itl. Perhaps you need to create a m3u playlist for use with your other software. Right-click on the playlist name in the sidebar for export options.
Or use iTunes to manage the content on the device in the way that it is designed to.

  • Where does Flash CS4 put installation info in registry?

    Hi, everyone!
I want to know where Adobe Flash CS4 puts installation-related info into registry for Windows 7.
For example, Adobe Flash CS3 puts the following in the registry, for Windows XP:
    Location in registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Flash\10.0]
    Elements:
         ApplicationPath => C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS4
         LanguageInstalled => en_US
Can anyone tell me where I can find this info?

After having played with this feature a bit more I believe Aperture uses the Facebook name of a contact. So this must EXACTYL match the name of your contact in address book.
If they are the same, Aperture will treat them as one.
If they are different, even when a name has an o or an ö. Aperture will treat the two contacts as different.
So far so good. It is a pain to change contacts and match them to facebook.
But what happens if someone changes their name on Facebook, to be funny, or maybe get married? Do I have to change the name again?
    That would be very annoying!
I am wondering if anyone else has any thoughts or experiences with faces in Aperture and Facebook.

  • Where does itunes put files downloaded to pc from the cloud?

I reformatted my pc. If I restore music from itunes match, where on my computer does it place the files? I also have the option to restore from Carbonite. If I put all the music back in its original location, how do I "coordinate" with itunes and itunes match?

  • Where does iTunes Match look for my music files?

When iTunes Match scans my "library" which library is it looking at - simply the list of songs within the iTunes interface? Or is it looking for the actual music files? How does keeping most of your music on an external hard drive affect this process?

I don't know this for sure, but I suspect the scan process is reading the 'iTunes Library.itl" file and not scanning the actual files. So keeping your files on an external drive shouldn't affect the scan, although I would recommend having the external HDD connected to your computer while the scan in is progress just in case.

  • Where does iTunes store the custom EQ settings on my hard drive? (OSX 10.6)

Bought a new Mac. I moved over my iTunes library via export and then import. The songs are on an external drive. Everything went perfectly... except for my custom EQ settings.
The songs still have the custom EQs, but the equalizer itself doesn't have those settings anymore.
For example: for quiet songs, I have a custom EQ called "+6" that boosts the overall volume by 6db (far left EQ slider). If I click Get Info on a song with that custom EQ, I can see that it's still there (in the song's info, I mean), but the EQ itself is missing all of my custom EQs.
I have a full backup of my previous hard drive (not to mention that I still have the old Mac). Where can I find those EQ settings? Surely they're in a file somewhere, right?

The last time I did a clean install of Windows on my PC, I backed up the entire iTunes folder on a separate HD partition. After reinstalling iTunes, I copied the iTunes folder back to the C drive and all of the many EQ presets I had created were restored, along with the music. That was in late 2011. I came to the conclusion that this was how you back up the custom EQ settings.
I guess I made a mistake by assuming it would work again this time. Did I? I repeated the process today when I reinstalled Windows, and all the presets I had created did not get restored and now seem to be gone... Is there any way to recover them?
I spent a lot of time tweaking the different frequencies to get them just right and hope to not have to repeat that process.
All of the settings were created using the custom presets, and not on individual MP3 tracks themselves.
    (iTunes version just installed: 11.0.2.26)

  • Where does iTunes keep the "comments" field info?

I've lost all the comments I recently entered for a particular CD
and I need to figure out what file iTunes keeps that infomation in
so I can get only that file out of a recent back up.
This info is not in the file titled "iTunes Music Library.xml" is it?
I looked in there by opening it in TextEdit but that didn't seem to be
the file so it must be kept someplace else. UgH!@

    Matthew,
thanks for the quick reply but...
I have not actually ripped a song so this info can not be in the song file.
Here is what i have going :
I put in the CD and I have titled each track to give it a descriptive name and
further added comments to the comments fields.
    I eject the CD.
When I insert the CD again, all this info shows there again, it's like
iTunes just knows it's this CD and what the song titles are etc.
So this song title and commments info couldn't be part of the song file because the songs are still on the CD and iTunes can't make a change on the CD, it's a commercial write protected CD, know what I mean?
Also, the song title and comments info isn't kept in the "iTunes Music Library.xml" because iTunes shows song titles and comments that are
not in this file when I search in it with TextEdit. This is making me nuts!

  • HT1414 where does Itunes store previous backups in a Windows 8 environment

I'm trying to restore from a previous back up and I used to be able to locate them in Vista - but I haven't been able to find all the previous backups in Windows 8

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.
