Where does itunes store my playlists on my pc,I can locate my itunes media which contains all the albums and artists but not my playlists?

Im a bit of a tech dummy and am trying to add a playlist to an iphone that is NOT synced with my itunes account, with ipod/ipad this is simple as I can manually manage content, however this feature doesn't work on iphone. I have a program installed which allows me to add to the iphone however I need to add directly from the itunes folder not within itunes. I have created a playlist in itunes to add to this device however I can not locate this folder in my itunes files!! I'm sure I am missing something simple here

iTunes playlists are stored within the library database iTunes Library.itl. Perhaps you need to create a m3u playlist for use with your other software. Right-click on the playlist name in the sidebar for export options.
Or use iTunes to manage the content on the device in the way that it is designed to.

  • Itunes erased all the album and artist info when reloading library!!!

My problem is a big one. I've got 8600+ songs (800+ albums) on my hard drive. These are all from physical CDs; I ripped them in wav, then converted them to mp3. When I did this, I kept both the wav AND mp3 files in each respective album folder; about 400G of wav and 80G of mp3.
OK, so a couple weeks ago I got hit with a virus. It messed up my XP OS to the point where I needed to do a reformat and reinstall. All of my music files are on an external hard drive, so no big deal there. I finish the reinstall, re-download itunes, and tell it where to find my music, and to import it into the library.
This is where things go horribly wrong. Itunes imports all the mp3 files in as separate folders/albums, just like before, with all the track and artist info intact. However, for some reason, it took all the wav files and dumped them into one giant Unknown Artist/Unknown Album folder. In doing so, it appears to have stripped the artist AND album info from every single one of the 8600+ tracks! I don't know why it did this, as the wav files in the itunes folder all had the exact same track info as the mp3s.
My question now is: is there any way I can get this info BACK, any program that can look at the individual tracks and figure out what artist and album they go with? Or is there something within itunes that can do it that I haven't found yet? There's no way I can go through and do this track by track; I can't even begin to calculate how long that'd take. My only OTHER option would be to re-rip all the CDs, but again, that took months the first time and I don't want to do it again. However, these files are pretty much useless as they are, in a giant pile that seems only to be organized by the songs' respective track numbers.
I am screaming HELP in capital letters here. Even if I could find a program or solution that would find MOST of the tracks' info, I'd be happy. I'd also be interested in knowing why itunes did this in the first place, for future reference.
And just to head off one solution I expect to be offered, no, I did not have the files backed up anywhere else; reimporting an un-reorganized version of the library isn't an option. I had just finished ripping them and hadn't picked up a second hard drive yet. I know, first thing I should have done.
In any event, any help would be appreciated. Please feel free to email me. Thanks.

I just remembered some older posts talking about some software from musicbrainz.org.
It might be able to make some sense out of all those WAV files, if you decide to spend the time on it. Honestly I'd prefer to rip my CDs than go through something like that, because I'm a control freak and would not trust the program to really find the right info....but that's just me. It might be easy to set up and a snap to use, for all I know.

  • Can itune create inventory reports of the albums and Artists in my library?

I want to create an album inventory report for my large itunes library which consists of only CDs I have purchased.  There are a couple of reasons for doing this.  The first is to share the report with my insurance company in case of a burglury and second is to have an inventory of what I already have in my library so I don't buy duplicates.  I have approximately 3000 CDs in total.
Can anyone help me with this?

With the music library open, File > Print > Song Listing (or Album Listing), and direct the output to a PDF file.
This will create a nice readable listing that you can store in a safe place.

  • I was in Country Genre and after trying to update album names and artist iTunes changed A LOT of the albums and artist names in that genre to the same one! How Do I make everything go back to normal?

Take My Nashille Album, Which had the right Album name and right artitsts is now "American Ride" By Tobey Keith!!! And there are many more like that!

Backup with this User Tip, restore the library to the new computer using the same tool, keep the backup up-to-date in future. Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer need to access protected content on it.
As to your issues with compilations albums select all the tracks, set the Album Artist to Various Artists and on the options tab set Part of a compilation to Yes. See Grouping tracks into albums for details.

  • I lost all of my artist names and album names for my iTunes library. They are all now on one album. How can I get the album and artist names back?

I lost all of my artist names and album names for my iTunes library. They are all now on one album. How can I get the album and artist names back?

I have a script called ExportImport for this task, but it only runs in Windows.
In principle something similar should be possible in AppleScript, but I don't currently have access to a Mac to write it myself.

  • My pc crashed and I lost all my pictures and music that was stored on the pc.  Now i have a new pc and when i connect to itunes using my password all my music and photos are not available.  they appear to be lost.

my pc crashed and i lost all my pictures and music that was stored on the pc. now i have a new pc and when i log into itunes all my music and photos are not available.  I guess i dont understand the pupose of itunes and its worth.  I thought it backed up all my photos and music, but apparently not.  So what do I use so that when i lose data on  my pc i can retrieve it again at a later date or after a crash?/

Your content will only be where you put it.  It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone: File>Device>Transfer purchases.
You can import your pics taken with the iphone as you would with any digital camera.
You can e-mail the other pics to yourself, they will never be of the original quality.
You can out a unique contact and calendar entry on the computer.  You should get the option to merge the data when you sync.

  • Does iTunes 11 spell death for the album cover?

Letter To Apple, From A Music Nerd.
iTunes 11 offers many visual interface innovations, however there is one drastic omission: the ability to display Album Artwork at a large size... (previously one could scale the art in "Cover Flow", or view the artwork in Full Screen size mode).
Apple has now robbed us of our ability to enjoy the detailed and creative world of album covers. In the age of high-res Retina displays, this is a step backwards. Such an iconic form of cultural artistry should not be confined to medium/small thumbnails.
Apple built a reputation as a computer for creative minds -- and this change is a slap in the face to musicians, photographers, artists, designers, and fans who have poured considerable amounts of time and money into these artworks.
The fix is simple: reinstate the "view full screen option", and add a slidable view so one can increase artwork within the browser to a large size.
Until then I am reverting to my old iTunes, and looking to other media players for innovation in the way we experience music.

    Send iTunes your feedback!

Absolutely agree with your point on resizable artwork. I also hate the automatically generated thumbnails; they're extremely low quality and therefore look blurry. If they at least used a bigger image that then resized to the size the thumbnails are now, it would look better already.
The "use custom colors for open albums" option also butchers the album artwork by blurring the edges, thereby cutting of heads and text and generally making it look like a 12-year-old's first Photoshop project.
The album art player Varjak refers to is a feature that was already present in iTunes 10. It has minimal functionality though and launches an extra window, when what most album art lovers will want is a hi-res image in the iTunes window itself.
Since the left column where album art was displayed in iTunes 10 is probably not coming back, the best solution would indeed be to re-introduce the size slider, and/or display large album art in the tracklist previews (and maybe make those resizable?).

  • Why does iTunes use 100% CPU all the time, hogging my Macbook Air?

Decided to post this here instead of the iTunes forum, since it might be related to hardware too.
New owner of a 2011 13" Macbook Air, core i5 based.
My problem started about 1 week ago, after it had run out of power completely one day. At the first boot after that it was incredibly sluggish, totally unusable. After waiting for 5 minutes and still being unresponsive, I turned it off and then back on. Then it booted fine. HOWEVER, ever since that time I noticed the following behavior:
    - iTunes stays at 100% + CPU all the time, mostly between 100-120%. Even if it's not playing. Even when I deleted the entire library and left it empty.
    - iStats reports CPU idle between 50-65%. However, CPU temperature is still about 55 degrees C (which, I think, is far less than what it should have been with 50% idle cpu). I can confirm the low temperature by touching the chasis.
    - the cursor freezes and jumps every few seconds, making the mac kind of unusable with iTunes open.
This has been going on for 2 weeks now. The problem goes away every now and then (iTunes sometimes goes back to regular CPU usage of 3-5%), but most of the time it's there.
    Help!
    P.S.
    Mac OX X 10.7.2
    iTunes 10.5.2

Cee Pee You, is a OS modification. Apple recommends that you un-install these prior to a OS update because Apple makes changes to the OS all the time which breaks programs like these.
I avoid Unsanity LLC products like the plague. Notice the company is a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC), which makes it difficult to sue the company in case of a defective or malicious product. So the risk using their products is all yours. Their APE framework modules have been used for malicious purposes because anyone can write a module that uses the APE framework.
I also avoid installing anything that requires a administrative password unless I completely trust the source, like Apple mostly. That admin password is the key to the security of our machines, not to be given out lightly or carelessly.
You'll have to contact Unsanity's [email protected] because what I'm reading online is it's very difficult to remove as it doesn't "exist".

  • Why does iTunes drop many songs from an album and will not add them back?

iTunes regularly droping songs/tracks out of albums I've previously added to my library.  The files are present in the album folder, but if I delete the album from the library and add it back, it still will not include the previously dropped files.  Sometimes I can add them individually using "Add Files" instead of "Add Folder".  This is a real pain in the backside, since when I play any album in my library, I can't be certain that all the songs/tracks will be played.

Are you burning as mp3 CD or Audio CD?.
If mp3 CD - then iTunes may remove the .aac audio files. (Just a thought)

  • I downloaded Itunes on  a new computer but  all my albums and apps  are not there

Can anyone help me i got a new laptop and it is windows 8. I downloaded itunes but it does not have all my albums or apps and so i am afraid to back up my husband and my iphones or ipad. I can still do it on the old computer but would rather just be able to use 1 computer. I have authorised this computer and hone network sharing. Please help

To get your apps or your music on itunes you have to log in to your itunes account in itunes then, normally it will automatically find your music and applications...
You then need to sync them with your computer and I hope you will then have them on your computer.
    Have fun

Ok.  Not really ready to kill me, but I really need to find an enduring fix that allows me calendar access via VPN, Wireless and on site.

  • TS3899 How can I change server info it keeps saying incorrect username and password but not and the server is written smtpaol several times and I cannot change that  what does that mean?

My apple I pad mail app will not let me send mail I can receive it but it keeps saying username or password wrong but its
Not, because I can send mail thru a Internet site.
It also has smptaol over and over as server and I cannot erase that. I do not know what to do to just make it aol.com
    Any suggestions?

The outgoing mail server should be smtp.aol.com. This is the correct server setting. Try using another server under Other Server. Turn the Primary Server Off and use another server under Other SMTP Servers.

  • Where does iMovie store the individual clips?

I know where iMovie stores the project file (which has all the clips inside it), but where does it put each individual clip itself? I want to edit them using another program, but the only way I can do it for now is by opening the project file and exporting each individual clip.

    Hi Steve
My bet is that it will crach Your project.
I would if satisfied with my editing. Copy back to Camera to TWO new miniDV
tapes. Carefully secure that there is a great overlap - say several minutes.
(Why - errors on miniDV tapes are more common in beginning and end of tape)
Then when ready - delet the movie project and - re-import tapes into a
    new project.
ALL editings will be un-undo-able. So this is a nerve shattering experience.
Alt. Get a big external hard disk !!! Mac Extended - formatted !!!
Mac Exchange / DOS / UNIX formatted WILL NOT do.
And copy the movie project to this for further editings or just to store it.
(I don't use "Empty - trash" in iMovie even if several in this forum says that's
not so destructive as in previous versions of iMovie)
    Yours Bengt W
