Where does Manual Feed as a Default Come From

A couple of computers on the school network, when printing to a network laser (different kinds) always send out manual feed jobs. This is true whether they IP print directly to the printer or through a server queue. We had tracked down a reference in the com.apple.print.custompresets.plist to "manual feed," so deleted the plist. The plist was recreated and had the same reference to manual feed. With unaffected computers - the same plist does not have this "manual feed" reference. Where is the system getting the instruction for manual feed? We've been to the print dialog settings, and paper feed is set to Auto Feed, but when we print, the job is configured as manual. Any ideas what to try next?
Notes: It makes no difference whether the user is local or server-based, a standard user or administrator. From the affected machine, all print jobs to certain printers are manual feed. Printers in System Preferences have been deleted and recreated to no avail.

change the default in the .ppd file.

    Nick -- Thanks for the kind words.
    While we don't have plans to make the look and feel available outside of the IDE,

    There is a distinct interest in developing C# clients purely due to the

    that Swing doesnt perform and doesnt look good. JDK1.4 reportedly has
    numerous performance improvents. What is missing is a good look and feel.
    The Jelly Beans look and feel is quite good (I suspect that it is no
    accident that its flat look is similar to Visual Studion .NET.).
    I think that encouraging developers to remain with Java for GUI clients
    can
    only be good for Java and in turn J2EE as a whole. A pure java environment

    Aside from the ultruistic viewpoint, we would dearly like to use it in

  • Where does a file called "sun_jch.jar" come from?

    Hi,
    we're using jdk142_05 from Sun with Bea Weblogic on a Sun Fire V240 running Solaris 8.
    Some days ago, as part of a testing, the network interface connecting this server to the database server (Oracle 9) was shut down abruptly while Weblogic was running.
    After restoring the connection to the database, all the applications using that jdk were perfoming very slowly their database queries (even if they were outside Weblogic).
    It took us a long time to determine that a jar file called sun_jch.jar located in the jdk142_05/jre/lib/ext folder was the root cause of the problem.
    It contained a lot of classes related to oracle and their creation date was exactly the date when the connection to the database was cut.
    Does anybody know is this file comes from Weblogic or from the JVM itself? I can not find any information about it over internet.
    Thanks!

    Hello again,
    yesterday I found a tool called "Javac Compiler Helper", available at http://freshmeat.net/projects/jch/.
    I don't know it this tool can anyhow be related to the file I mentioned, as the initials match "sun_jch.tar".
    We're not using this tool, but it's the only thing I've found over Intertet.

  • Where does the «On my Mac» mailbox come from ?

    Hi ...  In the my Mail's Trash mailbox in the sidebar, recently a sub mailbox called «Sur mon Mac (On my Mac)» mailbox (see here) was created.  Where does it come from and what is it's purpose?

    If you add/import your own mailboxes (I have a lot of them because I like to be organized), the system will automatically add a separate trash can for anything you may delete from one of those because the system treats those separately and, by default, assigns them to "on my Mac". If you delete anything from one of your own folders (not the system default mailboxes), it will wind up in the On My Mac trashcan.
    Any mailbox under my heading of IMPORT is considered "on my mac".

    I'm trying to integrate with Adobe InDesign and a plugin the is already created. Where do Instance and Document Id's come from? Are they meaningful or just a place holder to identify a file?

    Are you talking about the Document IDs from the Media Management Schema (xmpMM:DocumentID)? If so, those are generated by the CS apps, usually on Save/Save As.. commands, and are designed really to be used by DAM systems.
    See the XMP Specifcation on Page 43. It discusses the MM Schema.
    Hope that helps.

  • Where did the iPhoto 10 iCloud Photostream come from and how do I get rid of it?

    I just updated my MacBook Air to mavericks.  I have an iPad and iphone as well just updated to ios7.  My Mac updated iPhoto as well.  Now when I opened iPhoto I got my flickr and Facebook integrated folders in the left pane plus an iCloud photostream.
    I didn't have that before and it has 287 pictures pulled from many devices but I didn't set that up.  I only had/have a private photostream with a particular name and about 10 pics in it.  this new one is just called iCloud photostream and it has 287 pics of which some I know I took with my iPad and others with my iphone.  I of course sync both devices with my Mac so this pics are in my iPhoto library as well.

  • Where does iCloud source all it's contacts from?

    Hi,
    I have a really random thing happening on my iCloud (obviously effecting all my apple devices, iPhone 4S, Macbook Pro):
    I have recently had a whole lot of old contacts turn up in my iCloud contacts. Now there weird thing is:
         - these contacts are from a cell phone I would've had about 5 years ago
         - it wasn't a smart phone, was something like a basic nokia or sony ericsson or something
         - the phone was on a different number, and a different sim card, and possibly a different network
         - the contacts weren't stored on the sim card that is currently in my iPhone
         - I didn't do any importing of any kind, they just showed up in my contacts
         - The names of the contacts are showing exactly how I put them in my old phone, ie, the name + some way to remember them (like Gary the guitar guy), so can't have been synced from anything like Facebook.
    My question is, where does iCloud gather it's contact info from?? Over the years I have had hotmail, gmail, facebook, myspace, bebo, etc, does it link with them somehow?
    I receive Microsoft Exchange mail and Gmail on my iPhone, but none of these old contacts show up in the contacts of these two accounts?
    So confusing, and kinda creepy! Anyone know what is going on??
    Thanks

    Ohhhhh whoops just realised what I have done haha

  • Where does WebDynpro ABAP URL get defaulted

    When creating a WebDynpro ABAP application, the URL gets generated automatically.
    My question is where does this path get generated from.  Is there a place to edit the settings?
    The reason why I ask is that the Basis team has disabled protocol HTTP and are now using HTTPS.
    The problem is, our WebDynpro ABAP applications still get defaulted to HTTP in the URL string.
    Where do you change the settings?

    Yes, I replied to your question before realizing the answer had been given by Shruti.  By going to tcode SMICM, in GOTO/services menu, I noticed that HTTP and HTTPS were both set to active.  So, I inactivated the HTTP and by doing that the WebDynpro ABAP application URL's that get defaulted (tab folder adminstrative data) now default to HTTPS and the port defined in SMICM.
    The Basis team had disabled HTTP, I assuming by removing the port address, but keeping the HTTP service active and this was causing a problem for all the WebDynpro ABAP programs.  They were still defaulting to HTTP.  Why they did not make this change I just did, I don't know.
    I couldn't get anyone to take charge of this, so I did.
    Problem solved.

  • Where does the svc system get its infos from?

    The longer I work with Solaris 10, the more I dread this awful "services" construction and its unwieldy administration.
    I have a newly setup machine with two zones, one created right after the other, meaning they should be identical.
    /usr is, as usual, lofs'ed into both zones, and contains a /usr/local/samba dir with a handcompiled 3.0.30 release.
    I have not created any manifests as I intended to simply delete the 'onboard' samba service and start the new version
    via the classical init script.
    I boot both zones.. and one starts "/usr/local/samba/smbd -D -f /etc/smb.conf", and the other starts (or tries to) "/usr/sfw/sbin/smbd -D".
    I inspected the manifest xmls for the network/samba service, and in both zones the entry lists /usr/sfw as start method.
    svccfg listprop network/samba also reports /usr/sfw for both zones.
    Where did the one zone get the info to start the /usr/local samba installation, and where did it get the (correct) conf file parameter?
    Why does svccfg report a different startup method property than it really runs on svcadm enable?
    I have grepped through all of /lib/svc, /etc/svc and /var/svc and nowhere is any reference to the /usr/local file nor the conf parameters.
    Swapping the svc repository.db file between both zones also swaps the problem around - so it must be somewhere in there,
    but as it's no longer a human readable file, I'm out of luck there. How did the /usr/local path and parameters get into that DB file?
    Does the service system search the filesystem for known daemon binary names and other guesswork? And if it does such voodoo,
    why didn't it do the same in the other identical zone?
    rant Did we really need to get this svc "feature"? Until now I have seen no advantage from it, and only incurred a huge load of inconvenience,
    be it the additional work of creating manifests for new services or debugging problems that I never had in a decade or two of init script usage.

    What do you get for:
    svcprop -p start/exec network/samba:defaultThat should display the start string it uses.
    Where did the one zone get the info to start the /usr/local samba installation, and where did it get the (correct) conf file parameter?I can only assume that some program inserted that string into the service. As you said, it's not in the manifest, so it didn't come from there.

For starting a single job, you won't see the benefits as much.
    Of course, the milestone services still run startup scripts out of /etc/rc[S23].d, so those are perfectly valid places to run a startup script.

  • CCMS: where does CCMS collects the database space information from?

    Hi,
    We are experiencing a kind of inconsistency in the data that CCMS is collecting for the space tablespaces related MTE's. Here is the thing:
    - RZ20 > SAP CCMS Monitoring Templates > Database :  will show the PSAPSRQ tablespace at 94% (which is wrong)
    - DB02 will show the same tablespace at 88% (which is the correct value)
    - BRSPACE will also show the 88% (the correct value)
    Note that CCMS is do active and collecting (the value is not obsolete as you can actually see the timestamp being updated for the respective used space MTE).
    Do you know why are we seeing this inconsistency? Where does CCMS collect the tablespace information and how often?
    Any ideas or help to avoid this inconsistency will be helpful, as basically CCMS is sending us false alerts/emails.
    Thanks and regards

    Jesus,
    I just came across this issue myself after assuming that I was collecting the correct data.   The problem is that SAP is collecting the column Total Used (%) in DB02 instead of Used (%).   You should see your 94% as reported in CCMS in the Total Used column in DB02.
    What we need is the Used (%) column which is much more critical than the Total Used (%).
    I have not found an MTE to report this data.    Until then, we have to manually check every server for Tablespace levels instead of in our Central CCMS.
    If you have a solution, please send.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • [Solved] Where does Chrome get it's GTK+ info from?

    In XFCE I use Greybird as my gtk2/gtk3 theme and Zukitwo for my window manager theme.  I like the way Chromium looks when you click on "Use GTK+ theme" but the titlebar doesn't match the rest of my windows.  As far as I know there's no way to set up a manifest.json so that Chrome uses system icons so I'm going to have to edit Greybird.  My question is what file in the Greybird theme does Chrome pull it's GTK+ info from?
    Here's a picture of the differences between my custom theme and 'use gtk+ theme'.

    The Shimmer Project added the above mentioned customizations to Chromium in their Greybird theme. This can be found in the file gtk-2.0/gtkrc:
    gtkrc wrote:
    # Google Chrome/Chromium theming (requires 9.0.597 or newer)
    style "chrome-gtk-frame"
        ChromeGtkFrame::frame-color = shade (0.5, @bg_color)
        ChromeGtkFrame::inactive-frame-color = shade (0.5, @bg_color)
        ChromeGtkFrame::frame-gradient-size = 100
        ChromeGtkFrame::frame-gradient-color = shade (1.08,@bg_color)
        ChromeGtkFrame::inactive-frame-gradient-color = shade (1.08,@bg_color)
        ChromeGtkFrame::scrollbar-trough-color = @base_color
        ChromeGtkFrame::scrollbar-slider-prelight-color = @panel_bg
        ChromeGtkFrame::scrollbar-slider-normal-color = shade (1.4, @panel_bg)
    class "ChromeGtkFrame" style "chrome-gtk-frame"
    Keep in mind, this is a GTK2 override and has nothing to do with the window decorations. They themed Chromium's tabs and the like to match the xfwm4 Greybird theme. Without this override, the colors would not match. I actually like what they've done. Chromium is not the only application they customized to match Greybird.

    I have an interface using DBLink. When I tried to insert data to the target table, I got the following query. I don't know where these C?_ come from? The KM just select expression from source and source table only has columns without C?_. But it is just work table and the target table for the previous interface has all correct column name.

    All KM I used work for another case. The only difference between these two cases is on the previous interface. For the one which is working, the target table in previous interface (which will be used as source for current interface) is populated by another table. For the one which is not working, the target table in previous interace is populated by flat file joined with other tables.

    I am afraid there is no easy and direct way to pull the answer from the data dictionary.
    But with some work, you can get to the bottom of this.
    This query shows you how much redo is used by the sessions in your system currently:
    select a.sid , a.value  from v$sesstat a,  v$statname b
    where a.statistic# = b.statistic#
    and b.name = 'redo size'Unfortunately, I am not aware of a AWR view (license required!) that corresponds to v$sesstat, so it would not be easy to look back and see which session generated the redo.
    One way is to troubleshoot the problem online, using a utility such as snapper- http://blog.tanelpoder.com/2010/03/22/oracle-session-snapper-v3-10/ . See which sessions generate most redo and see what SQL they are running at that time.
    The other way is to create your own “repository”. Sample V$SESSION, v$sesstat , v$statname and possibly V$SQL frequently (every few seconds) and record how much redo and what SQLs are running by each session. Once you gather enough data, look which sessions had the biggest “redo size” delta and what SQL were they running at that time.

  • Where does Adobe CS3 install by default?

    Hey there,
    I'm trying to install Adobe CS3 Design Premium on my MacBook Pro.
    I was wondering once installed in the default installation location "/Applications" does it install each individual application in the Applications folder, or does it create another folder automatically that installs every application in there?
    I'm asking, because if it automatically installs everything in the applications folder, i could create a new folder "Adobe CS3 Design Premium" and have everything install in there.
    Thanks,
    Saeid

    In any case, if it does, I explained that the installer would allow the creation of that folder. Also, my "yes" was in reference to the OP's suggestion of directories for standard install, and making a new folder. Redundancy is not necessary here. Nothing was made clearer. read my statement below. It applies to almost every post in here. A tenet not followed by many.
