Where does Mountain Lion store iCloud files?

Mountain Lion knows a bunch of iCloud-enabled apps. For back-up considerations, where on my HDD can I find the files, stored in iCloud, for programs like Pages, Preview and TextEdit ?
I'm sure they must be cached locally somewhere.

~/Library/Mobile Documents

Edit: To get to your home Library folder, go to the Finder and option(alt)+click the "Go" menu.  This will list your Library and clicking it will get you there.

Where does GUI_UPLOAD function store the files?

    Hi Audrey
Here is an example of accessing files from application server:
open dataset w_file for input in text mode.
      if sy-subrc <> 0.
message e895 with 'Unable to locate file'.
      else.
        do.
          read dataset w_file into it_data.
if sy-subrc eq 4.            " End of file reached
            clear it_data.
            exit.
          else.
            append it_data.
            clear it_data.
          endif.
        enddo.
        close dataset w_file.
In the above example, w_file is declared as string containing  c:\usr\sap\test.txt
And this file should be there on this path on application server.
And, yes, you need to declare it_data as an internal table containing fields corresponding to file from which you are reading data.

  • Where does Creative Cloud store my files?

Does Creative Cloud store my files on my hard drive or can they be stored on my server?

You store your files wherever you like as you normally would.
Cloud apps install and run locally (same as perpetually licensed apps).
You save your files locally on oyur hard drive or server or wherever you like.
Your Cloud membership also includes 20GB of offsite storage in the Adobe Cloud which you are free to use or not use.

  • Where Does Mountain Lion Download To?

I'm in the process of downloading ML so taht I can create a second bootable drive. Where does the ML download go to? I' ve looked several times throguh my downloads folder but I don't see it in there.
    Thanks!

    In the Applications folder.
You can make a backup or a bootable installer disk BEFORE you install ML: after the install the installer is gone.
Use Lion Diskmaker, works for ML too.

  • Where does KN 09 store .mov files when these files were not copied into the KN document?

I saved a 'test' KN document without copying the movie files into the document.  The size of the document was less than half the size of the actual movie files themselves, so I figured they were not embedded into the document.  I then played the KN slideshow on a different drive that did not contain the actual movie files.
But it played!!  How can that be?!
I had created the document leaving the box for copying audio and video unchecked!  It was saved as a package.  By the way what is a "package" anyway?
Can anyone shed light on this dilemma?
    Thank you,
    Howard
PS - the reason this is important is that I want to edit my real Keynote document as it gets bigger without the constant spinning color beachball appearing everytime I right clickk or edit.   This doc is 9GB already and will get a lot larger.  If I can edit without the beachball appearing by saving as a package without embedding the video that would be great!
My other option is just to leave the videos in a separate folder and then click on them at the appropriated moment.  That is what the Apple tech support guy told me is what lots of Apple people do when presenting Keynotes in their stores.
    Thanks again.

I decided to try double-clicking one of the files in my library, whereupon iTunes told me that it couldn't find the file. I clicked the button to find the file myself, and was pleased when the dialog box opened up in the right folder.
This made sense, as iTunes knew where the file should have been, so offered that folder as a starting point.
I then tried another file (from a different album), and iTunes offered me the same folder as before. This was logical, as most Windows applications remember which folder you last chose. I navigated to the correct folder for this file, chose the file and closed the dialog.
I then tried another file in the second album, and guess what? iTunes offered me the very first folder again! No, it didn't remember my last folder.
So now if I want to tell iTunes where the files are, I have to double-click each of the 100 files that it's lost, then click the button to say I'll find the file, then navigate away from the wrong folder to the one that it should have remembered from the previous time, and then choose the folder.

  • How long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?

how long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?

It's totally dependent on your broadband speed.
It took me about 45 minutes to download, but I have a reasonably fast connection.
It will often say in the purchased pane of the Mac App Store how much longer it will take.

Where does time machine store content that would be found in the Finder window under "All Images, All Movies, All Documents"? Also, I have many Garageband projects and mp3 files I can't find.

Easiest way to find time machine files is to open up the folder or application(works for email and iphoto)  they were in - then click on time machine ICON or enter time machine from the time machine menu to go back through the files.

  • Where does Bridge CS5 store the metadata files?

Where does Bridge CS5 store the metadata files that are created under the Tools menu?  I moved CS5 from one drive to another on my Mac Pro and lost all of them.  I'd like to recover them is possible.

    Yikes!

First of all, all Adobe applications really need to be installed and reside permanently on your boot volume, i.e. the same volume where your OS resides.  There will be endless grief if you install the applications elsewhere.
Secondly, I hope by "moved" you mean that you deactivated CS5 and then used the Adobe Uninstaller to uninstall CS5, then re-installed CS5 from the original media, from scratch, and not just drag-copied the Application folder.  And hopefully there's an OS installation on that other drive that will allow you to boot off that drive.
Third, you need to refer to your preferences in Bridge as you set them to find out whether you were keeping the cache in distributed folders or were using the central database, whether you were using separate xmp sidecar files, whether you had Export Cache to Distributed Folders set in Bridge preferences, etc..

  • When I transfer photos from my camera to my computer, where does the computer store them?

When I transfer photos from my camera to my computer, where does the computer store them?

Assuming you're using iPhoto 09 or later.
By default the photos are stored in the iPhoto Library in your Pictures Folder.
The iPhoto Library is a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. This is a simple protection from users inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
Want to look inside?  Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Standard Warning: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things,, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
As an FYI: There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Where does DW CS5 store FTP and other data in W7

My computer self destructed the boot sectors of it's system disc. I managed to get a clever chap to rescue all the app data and have managed to get back all my browserss book marks, pass words etc.
My next stap is to try and get back all my presets and FTP data for all my client's web sites in dreamweaver, without all the pain and grief of reloading it all manually.
So - where does Dreamweaver CS5 store all the site data etc on a Windows 7 (64bit) machine?
    Many thanks

The only way to retrieve site definitions is from previously exported .ste files.
To backup, go to Sites > Manage Sites > Export...
To recover, go to Sites > Manage Sites > Import > browse to .ste files on your hard disk, local site folders or removable flash drive.
If you didn't backup your site definition settings to a safe place,  I'm afraid you'll need to manually input this info again.

On average how long does mountain lion take to download from the app store?

Always keep an eye on 'More like this', the column to the right of your initial post.    You will often find answers and direct leads to your questions there.
In fact it relates to your ISP and the download speeds you have.   I believe it is 4GB in size.

  • Where does OS X store previous display configuration data?

    Dear forum,
Where does OS X store the configuration data regarding external displays? My settings are screwed up and I think that if I remove my configuration and let it discover my display as though it was the first time, it may work. Right now when I plug in my dongle, OS X sees it and goes into dual-display mode, but my big monitor (the primary one) never wakes up.
I have tested my PowerBook with other displays using the same cables and DVI/VGA dongle, and it all works swimmingly. My display works with my other laptop (which is a Windows box, so perhaps my mac smells another computer and is throwing a jealous fit).
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello Gabe:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
Preferences are stored in "plist" files. Do a "find" on 'plist.' All of the preference files will be displayed (typically several hundred). You can hunt through those to see if you see the one you reference. You can safely trash a preference file. OS X rebuilds them as needed (you do have to reenter your personal preferences).

I've just installed mountain lion and my files are all out of their previous folders. Can I set them back or do I need to manually put them back in order??

    Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the response.  So, after the computer did it's restart thing after installing I went into finder where I usually have everything come up including my Macintosh HD folder and all it's folders and files.. Anyway it was this that hadn't come up and all the files were listed under All My Files and out of all their folders.  I totally switched the computer off after posted the problem and now having switched it back on I see that it's all there and in it's proper files.

  • Why does mountain lion "bunch up" all my microsoft office documents that I have open when I hit f3? When I had snow leopard for example, if i had 4 or 5 different microsoft office documents open at the same time I could hit f3 and easily pick one of them

Why does mountain lion "bunch up" all my microsoft office documents that I have open when I hit f3? When I had snow leopard for example, if i had 4 or 5 different microsoft office documents open at the same time I could hit f3 and easily pick one of them.
Notice how in the photo, I can't identify which MS office document I would like to switch too. Perhaps since the Dashboard and Desktop windows are at the top of my screen now Apple doesn't let you have all the applications take up the full screen and be sized individually so that you can have a better idea on what to pick.
I like the idea of grouping to an extent... If you have a bunch of random things it was hard for me to decifer between what was safari, chrome, or word. But now that they grouped them like this, if you have multiple pages of one program running, you can't switch between those pages easily like before.

If I wanted to open any of my Applework documents I had to open them one at a time and resave them with pages. This could take weeks.I have 1000s of apple work documents.
You don't have to open and re-save every AppleWorks document you have right now. Just wait till you need one, then do it. The documents aren't going anywhere.
Am I dealing with Microsoft? This was a BIG surprise to me that Apple would release an OS without testing all programs.
Frankly, it is not Apple's responsibility to ensure compatibiltiy with every piece of software available for OS X. That is the responsibility of the software vendor. Lion has been available to developers for several months before it's release, so Microtek had plenty of time to update their software. Yet they did not. How is that Apple's fault? I think Apple was very generous to give you a refund for Lion.
I'm not trying to belittle your frustration but I do think your ire is misplaced.
