Where does my footage go if i abort a batch capture???

does anyone know where to find this hidden captured footage.?

If you've actually captured any footage, it will be in your Capture Scratch folder:
Final Cut Pro > System Settings > Scratch Disks (will tell you where the media files are).

  • Where does imported footage go?

i got 20GB of dv footage that i imported in imovie and burned in idvd. now i'm done, but i cannot find the 20gb to delete them. in final cut pro, you have a folder 'capture scratch' in documents for that...
    thank you
    ja

iMovie uses no "scratch" folder. All the imported video is stored inside the iMovie project.
To recover the disk space, drag the iMovie project to the Finder Trash, then empty the Trash.

  • Where does ARD store temporary files / incomplete file transfer

I have ARD 3.2 I was wondering where ARD stores file transfers that are incomplete or aborted. If ARD shows a file transfer as 50% complete, but then the transfer is aborted, where does ARD store the incomplete transferred file. Thanks

  • ProRes LT codec: Where does it live in the system?

I always convert H.264 footage from a Canon DSLR into ProRes LT for editing in Final Cut 7.  I recently updated one of my hard drives to OS 10.6.8 for testing, as I was afraid to leave the excellent stability of 10.5.8.
Now my only choices for transcoding are ProRes 422 and ProRes 422 HQ.
I don't need the bigger file sizes of 422 and 422 HQ, so I was wondering if there is a way to search for the ProRes LT codec and see if it is still there?  Maybe hiding in some utilities folder?
And just a general curiosity question:
What happens when you transcode from H.264 to ProRes LT?  The file size goes from 330 megabytes per minute to about 750 megabytes per minute.  Where does the extra data come from?  Is Compressor or MPEG Streamclip creating new information out of thin air when they transcode?  I would think this would hurt the sharpness of the original video.
    Thanks for any insights,
    jimbee

I'm not sure that knowing the specific location of ProRes LT would help here...  If you have correctly installed FCS3 on the new system drive, it should be there for use by any FCS apps requiring it. If it's not, you need to re-install FCS3.
What happens when you transcode H.264 to ProRes is analogous to "decompressing" footage back in the olden days.  H.264 is basically a very sophisticated compression technique based on mathmatics. That's why it hard to "decompress" on-the-fly like they did with HDV. The transcoding converts the footage to a "lossless" format that, although it is a larger filesize, is very easy for FCP to cut. Without the H.264 compression you probably couldn't capture the HD source on a DSLR because the bandwidth and storage requirements would be astronomical.
Yes, Compressor is creating new information, but by reading the results of the playback mathmatics rather than from thin air. The playback data is then encoded using the ProRes codec to expand the colorspace and arrange the data in a "lossless" array.

  • Where does one set space after paragraph in the new Pages 5.0? It used to be under text in the Inspector in the previous version, but I just can't find it in this new version.

Where does one set space after paragraph in the new Pages 5.0? It used to be under text in the Inspector in the previous version, but I just can't find it in this new version. Paragraphs seem to only be dealt with in styles, and the Formatting window for text doesn't seem to have the space after paragraph contrtol that the older Inspector had. What am I missing?

Sorry I did this without looking:
    Side panel >Text > Style > Spacing > Turn the triangle > Before Paragraph/After Paragraph/

  • Where does firefox cache the form parameters to be used in the reload event of a page that was the resposne of a HTTP POST request?

Suppose there is form in a web page and it submits data in HTTP POST method. After submitting the form, if I reload the page [either by the refresh button or back button; whichever applicable], firefox asks permission to resend the form data by saying "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action...". Now if the user clicks on the resend, firefox resubmits the form data.
So where does firefox store this from data for such future resending/resubmission?
Is it possible to retrieve/manipulate those stored form data?

I thought I'd tried that, as tried lots of other things like encoding URL, but obviously not as this works.
    Thanks for the quick reply.

  • Apple maps has received a poor performance rating just after introduction of the iPhone 5. I am running google maps app on the phone. Siri cannot seem to get me to a specific address. Where does the problem lie? Thanks.

Apple maps has received a poor performance rating just after introduction of the iPhone 5. I am running Google Maps app on the phone. SIRI cannot seem to get me to a specific address. Where does the problem lie? Also can anyone tell me the hierarchy of use between the Apple Maps, SIRI, and Google maps when the app is on the phone? How do you choose one over the other as the default map usage? Or better still how do you suppress SIRI from using the Apple maps app when requesting a "go to"?
I have placed an address location into the CONTACTS list and when I ask SIRI to "take me there" it found a TOTALLY different location in the metro area with the same street name. I have included the address, the quadrant, (NE) and the ZIP code into the CONTACTS list. As it turns out, no amount of canceling the trip or relocating the address in the CONTACTS list line would prevent SIRI from taking me to this bogus location. FINALLY I typed in Northeast for NE in the CONTACTS list (NE being the accepted method of defining the USPS location quadrant) , canceled the current map route and it finally found the correct address. This problem would normally not demand such a response from me to have it fixed but the address is one of a hospital in the center of town and this hospital HAS a branch location in a similar part of town (NOT the original address SIRI was trying to take me to). This screw up could be dangerous if not catastrophic to someone who was looking for a hospital location fast and did not know of these two similar locations. After all the whole POINT of directions is not just whimsical pasttime or convenience. In a pinch people need to rely on this function. OR, are my expectations set too high?
How does the iPhone select between one app or the other (Apple Maps or Gppgle Maps) as it relates to SIRI finding and showing a map route?
Why does SIRI return an address that is NOT the correct address nor is the returned location in the requested ZIP code?
Is there a known bug in the CONTACTS list that demands the USPS quadrant ID be spelled out, as opposed to abreviated, to permit SIRI to do its routing?
Thanks for any clarification on these matters.

siri will only use apple maps, this cannot be changed. you could try google voice in the google app.

  • In Forms 10g Where does SQLs execute?

In Oracle Forms 10g there is Java Applet on top of which our Application runs. Now suppose we have a button and in that we execute a SQL to get a column value.
Now where does the SQL fire?
Does it fire in the Applet (i.e in client) or does it go to the App Server and then execute?

    RTM first!
If it's PL/SQL written in the form, that executes on the application server, that has a PL/SQL engine.
If it's a call to a procedure stored in the database, that executes in the database.
If it's SQL, then that can execute nowhere else except in the database.
Do not imagine that the applet does any other thing except rendering what you see on screen and handling the clicks and keystroke to the application server (which does the further processing, handling to the database the SQL that has to be executed).
    Briefly, that's the basics.

  • HT3078 When I opened up my Apple Wireless Mouse to replace the batteries, there was a metallic "strip" inside. I have no idea how it goes back in and it isn't shown in the instructions here. Where does it go?

I have an Apple Wireless Mouse (model A1015 EMC No. 1938).
I metal "strip" fell out. I can not figure out how to put the strip back in.
Leaving it out, the mouse doesn't work (no light, no nothing).
Does the strip actually belong and if so, where does it go?
I went to the Apple site and looked up how to replace the batteries and started off saying to turn off the mouse. I have no idea how to turn off the mouse. It also did not show a metal strip on the inside.
When I opened the mouse, the battery cover popped off. Without the metal strip, the cover does not pop off and is very hard to remove.

  • Importing audio from CD-where does it go?

I tried importing audio from a cd tonight for the first time, from within the audio window. Where does the file go? After I quit the song and tried to open again, the file could not be found. I tried importing again. When I put the CD in iTunes opened up and somehow renamed the CD "John Ford Radio"!? Anyway, I figured out that once the file was in the audio window I used the "move" function to copy the file to the song folder.
Is there an easier way to do this?

If you import audio from a CD, it stays on the CD. You probably saw a message something like "Insufficient privileges" which means that the OS recognised that it couldn't write the calculated wave overview back to the CD.
The best method is to copy it to your hard disk and check the Ownerships and Permissions within the Finder info. You need to have Read/Write on any audio file.
Finally, when saving your work, always use Save as Project since that will create a single folder with all your files nicely tucked away.

Where does Messages store attachments on the iPad?
some photos are quite large, so it would be good to know where they go, and how to manage the app.... ;)

Managing memory usage is not possible because the user does not have access to the file structure (unless you have jail broken your iPad that is).
