Where does my incoming mail go?

Every time I check to see my mail I see that it says "incoming x amount"(30, 40 or any number) but when I check the folders - every folder - they don't show up. Where should I look, where are they or they're not coming in?

Did you try rebuilding your mailboxes - that can cause stuff to not show up...

  • Where is my incoming mail?

Send mail and all filed mail are on my Library -> Mail folder, what Apple Mail calls "On My Mac." The inbox isn't there. Where is my locally-downloaded inbox? I really don't want to be subject to the mail server's automatic deletion rules.

I have a second user account on my iMac at work for personal use. I have the same e-mail accounts set up as I do at home (G4). Same OS: 10.3.9. Same exact Mail version: 1.3.11(v622/624).
The work iMac has all my incoming and sent mail since the day I set it up back in Feb.
I don't know if this means anything, but there are differences in the advanced preferences on the G4.
*the BLUE is the iMac; the GREY is the G4*

Forgetting about recovering that old mail, is there a way to keep this from happening? It looks like after 30 days or so, everything gets cleared, and I have never touched any settings.
Why would mail that I have read (and should be saved locally in my library) be disappearing?

  • Where has my incoming mail gone ?

    email : [email protected]
    Comments : I wanted to delete an address from my address-book. On the address-card I marked the to-delete-name and clicked "delete" - it didn't work - I couldn't delete the address;
I went in my menu to "Postbus" (mailbox) while my address-card was still on my desk-top.
I clicked "verwijder" (delete). I still have the address that I wanted to remove but I lost all my mail at once. My Mailbox is empty and I can also no longer retrieve new mail. I can send mails out though, but I can not retrieve new mail although I can see that I do have several messages waiting to be picked up. I checked my accounts and everything is still there. I re-entered codes and passwords but nothing seems to work when I hit the get-mail-button. What shall I do now ?
    Sincerely

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • HT4864 How come when I use the automate iCloud setup, does the incoming mail server have a different address then specified by these instructions?

The IMAP sever that automatically set up is p08-imap.mail.me.com?

So I guess using Apple Token for authenication is OK, instead of the prescibed Name and Password per the http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864?

  • Where does the Mail cache file reside?

My email inbox suddenly doesn't show anything newer than April 2011. The last time this happened, Apple Care walked me through deleting an AOL or Mail cache file, but I can't find it now. Where does the archived mail cache hide?

If you have iTunes set to consolidate your Library, then yes, you have 3 copies of the movie, USB, ITunes library folder, and iPad.
If not, then iTunes merely adds a pointer to the current location of the file, and then copies it over to the iPad.
If the USB is removed, the movie is still technically part of the library, but will not be accessible, it will show up grayed out and not be playable.

  • I have a new Mac and mail is showing thousands of incoming mails that do not show up on the computer.  does anyone know what is going on?

I purchased a Mac OS x 10.9 in December. When using Mac Mail i get thousands of incoming mails that do not show up on my computer.  Does anyone have any idea what is going on?  this sure never happened on my old mac. i have three email accounts.  gmail, verizon and hotmail.

I posted the same question a day ago with no response. I'm using an Acer x193w. You actually don't have to switch monitors to get it to work. Just make sure you turn off the monitor after shutting down the Mac mini (actually push the power button on the monitor, not just let it go to sleep). If you turn on the monitor (push the power button on the monitor), then power up the Mac mini, the monitor is recognized. The issue didnt exist with Snow Leopard for me. It only started after I started using Lion. Hope this issue gets fixed In a future OS update.

    Sorry for the delay...
I did what you've told me, new account and manually copied my files from Time Machine. I had lots of permissions problems, but at the end, almost everything is in order... It seems it had to be with some of the Apple Preferences, but I can't be sure, as most of them were dumped to the trash can.
I still don't have my Mail Rules back, unfortunately, although I did goggled some. It is a pity, as I had around 30 or 40 of them, getting my mail in order to each of its mailboxes, but it is a small price as the rest doesn't show the before syntoms.
    Thanks for the help, anyway!!

  • Where does Mail store its todos?

Where does Mail store its todos? I'm trying to restore lost todos from time machine. help!

    I also found my to-do's for my imap account in /Users/<username>/Library/Calendars/(long letters-numbers name).imap/(long letters-numbers name).calendar/Events/(long letters-numbers name).ics.
In addition, I found to-do's created in iCal in /Users/<username>/Library/Calendars/(long letters-numbers name).calendar/Events/(long letters-numbers name).ics. Scroll through the files in the events folders, find the date created or due date of the to-do and double click it. It will take you to the to-do in iCal.
In general, the to-do's will be in the Events folder of the Calendar they were created in. The iMap to-do's add another layer to the file structure.

  • If I make a copy of an e-mailed attachment , where does it go and how do I access it?

If I make a copy of an e-mailed attachment document, where does it go and how do I access it?

i actually got it figured out. I have multiple email accounts i have to use due to different corporate offices ( which can be a real headache at times). The exchange account is an active server used by Hilton and its an actual account. What was happening is my mail was getting kicked back to their server for storage. Once I contacted Hilton, they corrected it on their end. Thanks for trying to help out.

  • 10.9.4 Mail activity shows incoming mail downloading but does not put in mailbox

Been testing all day with no results.
The hosting company says there is no problem at there end. All mail can be found the their webMail.
iMac Mail connection doctors show all good connections.
Mail activity shows incoming mail downloading but does not put in mailbox, they simply disappear.
Still searching for a fix for this serious issue.
Any ideas or a proven solution is most welcome.
    -Thanks in Advance -

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

  • Hi ,I have a Mcbook Pro Mail version 6.3, since we changed from ADSL to fiber the incoming mails stop coming.out is fine after we changed the ports etc. does anyone know what alse we shall do?thks!

hi, I have a Mcbook Pro Mail verson 6.3,
since we changed from ADSL to fiber the incoming mails doesnt work.
out is fine as we have configurated the e mail account with correct info.
so what can be the problem? anyone that can help out?
its my first time out here...thks!

It's either a problem with your incoming mail server (are you using POP or IMAP?) or, possibly, a problem with your new router.
Which mail service are you using and what is your incoming server address? Does it require a special port?

  • Where does mail store downloaded photos

Where does mail store downloaded photos?

If I understood you... you can export your entire iPhoto library to an external Hard Drive? I could only see import option...
You're welcome. Yes, that is correct. In iPhoto, File > Export... > Select external drive.
You said your drive has to be specially formatted - is that for if you want to export your photos to that drive? Or do you mean if you wanted the iPhoto library to be located primarily on the hard drive?
I meant the latter > specifically, your external drive would need to be formatted in this manner if you wanted your primary iPhoto library to reside on an external drive and function correctly. This format is the format of your MBP's internal drive.
Format the drive as FAT32 using disk utility to make the drive universally compatible between OSX/windows. Place the JPEG images on the drive. Transfer between machines with no problem.

  • Can I change the time format of incoming mails, in Mail? Now I have AM/PM, but I live in Denmark where we don't use that format. We have a 24-hour clock format i.e. 14:52 instead of 2:52 PM.

  • Where does my Mail go?

I have a few Email accounts on my iPhone, Gmail, Exchange, and a couple of regular Email accounts for Domains I own.
If I send an Email through my Exchange or Gmail accounts, a copy is also available on Gmail on the Web or through Outlook at work in addition to being on my iPhone.
However, if I send an Email through my iPhone via my own personal Domain Name accounts, there is no record of my ever sending the Email: it's neither on the iPhone Sent Items nor is it on the Web? Where does a copy of it go if I want to re-read it, check it, or resend it?
    Many thanks
    Brian

My ISP is Earthlink. I have three email addresses. Earthlink has an excellent automatic spam blocker. Very little spam gets through, maybe three or four a week. It has been wrong two or three times in the years it has been active.
I switched all triangles to point down in Mail. I have looked in every account. The seven emails are nowhere to be found. I have been aware in the week that I have used Mail of a lowering of the amount of emails received daily. But as I was not missing anything important, I paid no attention, too busy setting up my new computer from backup to my crashed G5.

  • Pressing Save in iMac Mail Compose where does the file go

On my 27" iMac YosemiteMail app tried to press Save button in Compose mode, but can't find the "saved" file .  Where does it go.  And is there a auto-save function in Yosemite Mail?
    George

There is no an auto-save function in Yosemite Mail
After making a draft just click on the red button, Mac Mail ask if you want to save the draft,  click on Save.
