  • Where does mail store downloaded photos

Where does mail store downloaded photos?

If I understood you... you can export your entire iPhoto library to an external Hard Drive? I could only see import option...
You're welcome. Yes, that is correct. In iPhoto, File > Export... > Select external drive.
You said your drive has to be specially formatted - is that for if you want to export your photos to that drive? Or do you mean if you wanted the iPhoto library to be located primarily on the hard drive?
I meant the latter > specifically, your external drive would need to be formatted in this manner if you wanted your primary iPhoto library to reside on an external drive and function correctly. This format is the format of your MBP's internal drive.
Format the drive as FAT32 using disk utility to make the drive universally compatible between OSX/windows. Place the JPEG images on the drive. Transfer between machines with no problem.

  • Where Does Mountain Lion Download To?

I'm in the process of downloading ML so taht I can create a second bootable drive. Where does the ML download go to? I' ve looked several times throguh my downloads folder but I don't see it in there.
    Thanks!

    In the Applications folder.
You can make a backup or a bootable installer disk BEFORE you install ML: after the install the installer is gone.
Use Lion Diskmaker, works for ML too.

  • Where does the song metadata reside (cover art work and other information)?

I edit the metadata for each album/song - add cover art, correct any album name or artists erros, make some notes to myself to help search/browse. Where does this data reside - with the song file or the library file or somewhere else? BTW I don't download the cover artwork from iTunes. I just find it online and copy and paste it into the metadata window. I have too many obscure albums to rely on iTunes.
The reason I ask is because I double backup my music and iTunes files. Normally, when I rip new albums I just add the new files and updated library files to me backup hard drives, by sorting by the modified date. But I'm now going back and editing all of my oder albums/songs metadata as I just described. In order to make sure this information gets backed up I'm simply backing up the entire iTunes Music folder, which takes all night cause it's around 500GBs. But I'd prefer to only add the modified files to the backup, which usually only takes a few moments.
When I sort by modified date the albums/songs I edited metadata for do not show up as modified that day. So, is it pointless to always backup the entire folder when all I have to do is back up what was modified? And if so, what are those files?
Also, is there a good app that will compare two hard drives and keep them in synch? So that I can basically do what I want to do automagically? Set one as the master and one as the backup, and ahve the app always synch the backup to the master. That would be nice!

If you're not downloading artwork from iTunes, all of the tags and artwork are stored with the individual song files. Some iTunes-specific data, like play count and rating, are stored in the iTunes Library database file.

  • "where does firefox 'profiles' end up in Windows 7? I see there are duplicate 'default'profiles in a local and roaming folders.

I am moving my 'profile' from one netbook (which uses Windows XP) to a newer netbook (using Windows 7 starter). I have found two folders off the 'users/(my name)/local' and 'users/(my name)/roaming' that seem to be duplicate default profile folders. When I copy my profile from the older netbook, how do I know which folder to put it into.
    Hope this is clear

The profile folder in the path '''''users/(my name)/local''''' only contains the Cache folder/files and the Safe Browsing information (''urlclassifier3.sqlite'') and a couple of other files. See information about "Cache" and "Offline Cache" under "4.1 Folders" in this article and how to find their location with '''about:cache''': http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox#Folders<br />
    Also see: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About_protocol_links<br />
You do NOT need to copy/transfer the files & folders in this path to your new notebook, as these files will be automatically rebuilt on the new notebook.
There is also information in that first link about files and folders in your "main" profile folder in the path '''''users/(my name)/roaming'''''.<br />

  • Where does a developer download iOS5 beta for iPad?

I'm a developer, but where exactly do I download iOS5 beta for iPad? In the Dev Center I only see the SDK for 4.3. Thanks.

Thanks, I wanted to make sure. Many people mistakenly think that the iOS betas are available to the public or non-paid developers. If you can't find the beta, I'd suggest you ask for pointers in the developer forums:
    http://developer.apple.com/devforums/
and if you can't get help there contact Apple Developer Support. We're really not allowed to discuss any specifics about unreleased Apple software in these public forums.
    Regards.

  • [SOLVED] where does pacman keep downloaded packages?

Stupid question, I know - but I seem to be having a tough time finding the docs or config that describes where pacman stores the downloaded packages during upgrades and installs.

Right on, thanks guys.   I had even looked in /etc/pacman.conf and somehow still missed it...  sheesh.

  • Where does apple tv download tv shows

if i purchase and download a tv show episonde on Apple TV, does it automatically download to my iTune account or to the Cloud?

I'm not saying I wouldn't download the content but it would be nice to be able to choose when to download it. I know you can pause all downloads then just redo each one, but if I recall this only works as long as iTunes is open. Once you close it, it will default to downloading all remaining content unless it's paused again. And again. And again. Not an issue if just buying one movie or a season pass at the start of a season and you just get an episode a week, but if buying an old season downloading 24 episodes at once is just madness - depending on your ISP of course.
I think a perfect solution would be that once you purchase in iTunes no download starts immediately. Just like buying on the ATV. You can then go to the purchased section in iTunes whenever you want to and download 'all' or one by one. Like you though I am starting to consider the pros and cons of not downloading (unless bought in iTunes when not downloading isn't an option) when weighed against the cost of repurchasing or losing the programme if it's removed from the store at some point.
This backup stuff though really gets me down sometimes. We're supposed to have the copy on our local disk, a backup on another local disk, a backup off-site and a backup in the cloud. With the cost of all that backup media I may as well just buy Blu-Ray/DVD boxsets!!
Just scanning the last sentence of your 2nd paragraph it brings to mind something that's bugged me for a while with iTunes. If you buy something from iTunes then have some sort of storage failure, if Apple have stopped selling it for some reason then you're out of luck, it's gone. I also use Audible, and even if a title is removed from sale you can still redownload your purchase at any time. I've done it actually. I wish Apple could have got those sort of sales rights for content.
    Ah well, we can dream.

  • Where does Snow Leo download the upgrade packages?

The software-upgrade function starts automatically in my osx 10.6, it downloads all the upgrade packages but before installing them, it asks me if I want to install all of them or few of them. Last time, I wanted to install only few of them. Now my question is: where did Snow Leopard download the rest of the upgrade packages that I didn't install? Can I delete them?
Thanks a lot for your answers.

Software Update will always download the updates to /Library/Updates.  That is the Library folder at the root of your hard drive.
There is an option in SU to have it automatically download updates in the background.  In this case, all updates may already be downloaded by the time you see them listed in SU.  Downloading and installing are two distinct processes.  Just because SU downloads an update, it will not install the updates until you tell it to.
There is also an option to not have SU download the updates in the background.  In this case, when SU notifies you that there is an update available, it will first have to download the software before it can install it.  Again, the download will be temporarily placed in the /Library/Updates directory.

  • After purchasing a song, where does the song go?!

After purchasing songs on my iphone through itunes they used to go to my purchased songs in the ipod app. I updated my iphone and now after I purchase a song, I cannot find it and it is definitely not in my "purchased" songs. Anyone have any suggestions as to where they could be??

Go to iTunes on your computer and click on "Check For Available Downloads..." under the Store drop down menu on the menu bar. If the song(s) won't download, check your purchase history on your iTunes Store Account to see if it was indeed purchased.
As for the iPhone, try a reset (holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons until the iPhone restarts showing the apple logo screen). Ignore the red power slider.

  • Where does my backup files reside in windows

I backed up my ipad (using iTunes) to my laptop (running Windows 7).  Where can I find the backup files?  Also, the ipad that I backed is no longer mine.  My wife has an iPad Air 2.  We want to get the content (especially the pics and videos) of the backup onto her iPad. Can we do this, even if the backup is from Tom's iPad, and my wifes ipad is Mary's iPad?

You do not have the ability to pick and choose certain aspects of the backup file to restore to another device. A restore is either all or none. You can purchase 3rd party software to open a backup file and try to remove some parts of it. The backup files is a special SQLite file that needs special software to read. It is really intended just to use to restore an iOS device if necessary.  However, this support document will tell you where your backup file is located on the computer. Many of these are hidden files, so make sure you have the ability to view hidden files switched on. If you can't back up or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using iTunes - Apple Support

  • Why Does Adobe Reader download button  launch windows Media Player?

I want to download an owners manual for my dishwasher. When I go to the mfg. site and locate the PDF file and click it to 'run' or 'save' (to desktop), Windows Media Player  launches. What's going on?? Please respond soon and thanks. Steve   Win 7, IE 10, Reader 11

That sounds like your file association for .pdf files is hosed; you need to assign it to Adobe Reader instead of Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-default-programs#1TC=windows-7

Clone your Mac OS volume to another hard drive, boot from there, ERASE the drive (not the volumes) if Disk Utility First Aid hard drive repair fails to work.
