Where does my video that I captured go?

If I don't use all the video I captured - but want to use it later - where is it stored? I can't find it on my hard drive at all???

If you control click on your project's icon you'll get a new menu. You want to select 'show package contents', then look through the media folders to find your stuff.

If I've understood you correctly then the ALLEXCEPT function may be what you're after and it could be applied in a similar way to the following...

Cant see the videos that I captured from my camcorder, into iMovie, on my hard drive or in FCP.

I can only see these files in my iMove Library. I cant see them at all from inside FCPX. I just want to import the video's I already captured from iMovie into FCPX.

Version 10 of iMovie and 10.0.8 of FCP X Trial. If I could just locate where the video's I captured are in the Macintosh HD then surely I could use that video. They are large files I assume since they were captured from 1 hour long DV tapes but I just dont see them anywhere on the HD.

I JUST GOT A HP PHOTOSMART ESTATION.   THE PART THAT DETACHES LOOKS JUST LIKE A IPAD.
What i'd like to know is can it be used just like an IPad? and does HP have Videos that can show and/or teach us
how to use this detachable part to it's fullest abilities?    The printer makes great pictures. I really like it. I had no problem connecting it up. long as you read good and follow instructions it all worked perfect the first time i connected it!

and enter "zeen" in the search field you can find 23 courses that tell how to use the printer/zeen combination and also what to do if something goes wrong.
They actually seem to have some very good courses. Some take just a few minutes.
Also the Zeen isn't exactly like an ipad. It's more like a control station. It's designed to do a few more things, but it's not an ipad by any stretch.

Where does the movie that iMovie prepares go?

I wait for an hour while imovie prepares the movie for iDVD. All seems fine. But then I run out of time and iDVD gets closed. I assume that the prepared movie is there somewhere, but next morning I cannot find it.
Does it get erased if iDVD is closed? Does that mean I have to allocate the time both for imovie preparation of the movie and for work with iDVD? Otherwise I'll lose it??

1) Is there a way to get my I-movie 11 project over to Final Cut? I tried to find I-movie 6 but apparently, it is no longer on the site for download. I have final cut but it won't import the project. Or will it?
1a. No not as an editable project with transitions, texts and so on in a still editable way - BUT
• You can Export out raw material to be used in FinalCut - and -
• You can Export out as full quality QuickTime movie and use this in FinalCut as template and re-build project ontop of this
1b. iMovie HD6 has never been free to be downloaded - has to be bought and now as second handed - try e-bay
2)The quality is pretty bad when I go to I-DVD. Is there a suggestion for a better video editing program? I hear Final Cut is on the way out cause it's too complex. Premier? Vegas?
2a. This has several layers depending on
• What material is used
• DVD is as standard only SD-video (No HD-DVD)
• DVDs are interlaced and then video-editor should export this
iMovie'08 to 11 don't handle interlaced video
iMovie HD6 and FinalCut does -- and deliver full quality over to iDVD.
2b. FinalCut has gone trough same disaster as did iMovie so the new version is no evolution from FinalCut Pro 1 to 7 or Express 1 to 4. It's wrongly named and iMovie X Pro might be more close to the truth.
If You are home in iMovie'08 to 11 - I guess that FinalCut Pro X will be familiar to You and might work very well.

When I sync, I have a number of videos and "other" that take a lot of space. Where are the videos that are synced ... there are no movies or music videos? Also what is "other"? Thanks

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

Where does it show that the F8 key opens itunes?

This is one of those questions that isn't critical but is driving me crazy. I learned through a post in the forum on Snow Leopard that the F8 key opens iTunes which explained how iTunes was starting up "by itself" on my iMac. (actually when my cat walks on the keyboard) then I tried to find out where this information was. It isn't part of any keyboard shortcuts that I looked at, or in any of the in line manuels I have looked at or even in my copy of the "the missing manual". If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Seems like somewhere this information is written down.

The option you are referring to is part of the "Keyboard Shortcuts" which must be manually attached.
No: it's one of the built-in shortcuts with the metal keyboards - F1 and F2 are brightness, F4 is Dashboard and so on. F8 opens iTunes; a second press starts it playing.
Hit option f8 which then opens the shortcuts menu in which you can attach certain commands to different key combination.
Option-F8 is the same as holding the Option key while opening itunes, it asks you to locate a Library.
These shortcuts are hard-wired and not listed in System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts. In the Keyboard pane you can check 'Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys'. This will require you to hold the 'fn' key while pressing an F key for these shortcuts, which will make things a lot more difficult for thje OP'\s cat.

After editing raw in external editor, where does Aperture store that image?

When I have Aperture send a raw file over to Photoshop for more editing, Aperture creates a PSD (or TIFF) and saves it to its internal library. So, since my raw images are imported into Aperture as referenced files (I want to maintain my image library on external disks) how do I get Aperture to create, and save, that PSD (or TIFF) to the folder where the original raw file is stored? I want to do this because sometimes I want to access that PSD file from within Photoshop. As far as I know, PS cannot access the PSD that resides in Aperture library.

Unless things are changed with Ap 2.0, the round trip file is stored in the Aperture Library. I too have complained about this exact issue. I have Ap 2.0 but have not bother to try it out.
My workaround is to export tiff/jpeg from Ap to the folder that has the referenced master, then open and edit the file using PS (or whatever else) and save there. Go back into Ap and import the edited image in the same location as the original referenced master version in aperture (project/album) and stack.
Not great but it works. Each round trip from Ap to external editor using psd or tiff adds 40~70mb of file size into the Ap library so it can balloon rather quickly, if you edit using PS often.

Where does it say that I can make the trade-in for my iPhone 6 in a Verizon Store?

I know some you you may feel this has been asked and answered, but I need a definitive answer that I can show someone in my local Verizon Company Store.
I need to know where I can find definite wording that states that I should be able to walk into my local Verizon store and trade in my old iPhones for the $200/each credit as promised by Verizon. The Verizon associated at my local store have given me two different answers. The first girl told us we could bring in our iPhone 6 phones, get them activated and at the same time trade in our old iPhones for our credit. When our iPhones came we went back to the same store and the guy activated our new phones but wouldn't allow us to trade in our old phones. He said that we had to do it online. Since then I've see several comments from customers a Verizon reps stating that I can make the trade in at my local Verizon Company Store. If I have the actual wording from Verizon then I should be able to convince the reps in my local store to accept my trade-in and credit my Verizon account. Thank you for any help on this.

AirPlay - Mid 2011? Where does it say that anywhere? LAME!!!!

I am a 15 year user of Apple products and this is the first time I've ever been upset enough to write. Nowhere in ALL the hype, literature, or ads did I see anything about my mid 2010 model 27" iMac not being able to use AirPlay. I don't see it even mentioned here (http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/features.html)
I am constantly upgrading my Apple gear, from AppleTV and iPhones, to my iMacs and Laptops. It is very expensive as is, but as a media producer they are tools that help me enjoy great career.
That said, AirPlay was the only feature I cared about. To not have this working on mid 2010 models is pretty lame, but not nearly as lame as not mentioning that anywhere. We've come acustom to Apple providing the basics, and ensuring full backwards compatibility for sooo many years, and now your starting to do things like Microsoft!
To top it all off... I can't even return the worthless $20 upgrade.
Way to go on this one Apple... way to make a loyal customer feel screwed. Feels like I'm running Windows these days.

TS3276 Following above directions, I clicked on Window, but there was no option for Connection Doctor, the next step. Where does one find that?

When asked to povide an email password (after you set the mailbox up & have been using it), you are told to go to Window. Then choose Connection Doctor. There is no such option under Window. How do you get to the Connection Doctor?

I just checked again in Mtn Lion, which is what should be on your new machine, and see this in Mail. So, all I can suggest is for you to reinstall the OS. Boot into recovery mode (restart, holding down the CMD+R keys). Alternatively, contact Apple's Express Lane and let them deal with it, since it's a new machine.

My camcorder videos are not capturing properly

The same thing is happening to all the video that I capture from my video camera: Once or twice every second, there is a "pop" in the audio, and then the audio skips ahead by a fraction of a second. Sometimes the video skips ahead too, but not as frequently. I've made several capture attempts, and sometimes the audio and video get out of sync and sometimes not. But it always does that popping and skipping ahead thing.
The first time this happened, I got an error dialog that said something about the sample rate, but then I never got that message again, so I really can't say exactly what it said.
I used to capture video from this camera all the time with no problem, a couple years ago. But now, no dice. I've tried it on both of my computers and the same thing happens. I've also tried iMovie -- again, same deal.
My first thought was that maybe I had changed the audio sample rate setting on my video camera, but I've searched the manual and it looks like my only options are 12bit and 16bit. I tried both and got the same result.
I'd sure appreciate any help you can provide, cause I'm completely stuck until I figure this out. Thank you!

At first I thought you might be a newcomer doing something terribly wrong but it appears you have successfully used FCP and that camera on previous occasions.
Does the camera still playback correctly?
What version of FCP have you got and have you updated your OS recently as there may be an incompatibility?

It will be right next to the movie in your library and the jpg file will end up on your hard disk right next to the movie file. You can see the actual file by right (or control) clicking on the image in the library view and selecting "show in Finder/Explorer"
