Where does Reader X save update preferences?

I'm trying to copy preferences to all users folders so anyone logs to the computer will have the same settings... I'm interested in update settings preferences in particular. I set it to don't download and would like to replicate that to all users.
I tried both C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0 folder and C:\Documents and Settings\<user Name>\Local settings\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0 but it doesn't look like it keeps it here.
I couldn't find any reg key that has anything to do with update preferences.
Please advice.
Thanks
Ed

It's most likely this file
com.apple.CharPaletteServer.plist
which is in the directory:
~/Library/Preferences
From looking at the file, it's not clear that it has anything more than the last time it was used.

  • Where does 3.0 save synched Notes on the computer?

    Where does 3.0 save synched Notes on the computer?
    thanks

    Solved now thanks to another discussion.
    Attempting to sync brought up a message 'Syncing Notes' but I couldn't find them.
    A terminal search revealed no sign of Notes.mbox in my ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes folder even after multiple sync attempts. I had a look to see if there was a Notes.imapmbox there as well, as IMAP mailboxes have a different suffix but that wasn't there either.
    The poster advised taking the following steps (first make sure that you have Sync notes checked in the Info tab of iTunes:
    1. eject the iPhone from iTunes and disconnect it from the USB port
    2. force quit iTunes using Command-Q
    3. switch off the iPhone completely
    4. reboot the iPhone
    5. re-connect the iPhone via the USB port
    6. allow the sync to take place
    I had my ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes folder open in a Finder window and shortly after the sync, up popped Notes.mbox. I still didn't see anything under Reminders in Mail but I selected Mailbox/Rebuild in Mail and now I have Notes available under Reminders. I have five active email accounts, each with a Notes folder available, but the one note I had left after losing all the originals during one of my sync attempts appears under On My Mac.
    To be honest, now I have got it working, I'm not sure how much use it is so I doubt if I will use it. I had thought that it would sync via Mobile Me and that there would be a desktop application to go with the iPhone one, or it would be integrated into iCal.

  • Where does HP BIOS flash update tool save old BIOS backup by default

    Where does this HP BIOS flash update tool save old BIOS backup by default ?
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-69499-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&...

    I think the gpu has failed again, if the bios was dead you would get no beeps, it is the bios that generates the hardware failure beeps.
    Home brew reflows generally do not last too long or can cause more damage.
    The reason the gpu comes loose on most of that vintage was due to 2 problems
    1. Overheating
    2. Poor quality solder used when the gpu and other motherboard components were flowed at the factory.
    Reflowing it does not always work because of the quality of the ball solder they used, also you only get one reflow attempt, doing more than one weakens the original solder even more. Most likely the seller reflowed it shortly before selling it to you.
    Proper repair is what is called a reball (solder replacement) of the gpu, not may repair facilities have the equipment to performed this, and is usually expensive procedure depending on the motherboard design.

  • Does Reader support saveas conversion to tiff?

    Hello,
    I am working on a form that has javascript to save the document as TIFF images.  The scripting works fine in both Adobe Standard and Pro.  However, when the document is saved as "Reader Extended PDF" in pro then opened in Reader X, the file conversion run by the submit button fails.
    I have read that Adobe Reader X had issues where it only supported save functions to temp or appdata folders, but an update (10.1?) was supposed to address this issue.
    The code in the folder level js file is:
    mySaveAs = app.trustPropagatorFunction(function(doc, path)
         app.beginPriv();
            doc.saveAs(path, "com.adobe.acrobat.tiff");
         app.endPriv();
    myTrustedSpecialTaskFunc = app.trustedFunction(function(doc, file_path)
         // Privileged and/or non-privileged code above
         app.beginPriv();
    try{
              mySaveAs(doc, file_path);
    app.alert("Thank You - File Has Been Saved And Will Print Next",3);
    }catch(e){
    app.alert("Could Not Save File - Please Contact Administrator");
    this.print({bUI: false, nStart:1, nEnd:1, bSilent: true, bShrinkToFit: true});
    this.closeDoc(true);
    app.openDoc("/C/waivers/myfile.pdf");
         app.endPriv();
    Code under button is:
    // Get the field value
    var fn = this.getField("PrintedFullName").valueAsString;
    // Specify the folder
    var fldr = "/c/waivers/";
    // Determine the full path
    var file_path = fldr + fn + "_" + myDateString() + ".tiff";
    // Save the file
    myTrustedSpecialTaskFunc(this,file_path);
    On clicking the submit button, I get the error in the app.alert above "Could Not Save File" in ReaderX, however it works perfectly in Standard or Pro.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....this is the last hurdle before we can call this completed!  Thanks!

    Just execute that code from the JS console. If TIFF conversion is not available, then you're out of luck.
    It might be possible to develop a Reader plugin that does that, but you'll need to ask in the Acrobat SDK forum about that.
    My understanding is the JS console isn't available in reader without adding scripts, changing registry settings and then it doesn't show unless you add code to pop it up or it blows an erorr.  Is this true on Reader or is there an easier way to find this out.
    Man....I have to believe someone has run into this and just knows if Reader supports TIFF saveas versus doing a bunch of reghack to test it myself. You'd think this would just be documented clearly somewhere at Adobe. Yikes.
    Anyone know for sure before I start modding my test pilot PC just to find out?

  • Where does Word pick up colour preferences from when printing to a pdf?

    Hi there, I work in a studio with a dozen Macs. We do a lot of bid and tender work creating high volumes of pdf documents from Word.
    The issue is that even when using the same process to create a pdf from different machines (Command-P, then the pdf drop-down to 'save as pdf') the colours print differently depending on which machine the pdf was created on.
    Can you tell me where the machine picks up its preferences to create a pdf from Word so we can ensure each machine is the same?

    Print > Adobe PDF Printer would invoke the Preferences for the Adobe PDF printer
    From the Control Panel and/or Printers and Faxes, select the Properties for the Adobe PDF printer
    I surprised myself by selecting (right click) Printing Preferences first and then (right click) selecting Properties > Advanced > Preferences; I have different options enabled in the screen shot below.

  • Where does SharePoint Foundation save the uploaded documents ?

    Hi,
    Can anyone here please let me know where does the SharePoint Foundation 2013 & Standard edition save the uploaded documents ?
    from the past SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007) experience, it is saved in the SQL Server
    WSS_Content database, is that still the case ?
    is there any way to redirect it to another file server / file share or even the locally attached SharePoint server itself ?
    /* Server Support Specialist */

    If SQL is down, then SharePoint is down..
    If your content databases are full then you'll likely still have access to the sites, but you'll hit errors when trying to perform any action that wants to write to the database.
    It's not possible to divert the content onto the file system, all you can do is increase the storage available to SQL. (Or if you're using the free SQL databases that have an upper limit, you'll need to migrate the data into a full version of SQL server.)
    Paul.

  • Where does OS X save your Web Clip widgets?

    Hi,
    Does anyone know where Leopard saves your webclip widgets? They are not in user/library/widgets or in Mac OS X/library/widgets.
    Thanks
    S

    Ok. My best guess is based on using Activity Monitor to inspect the process, and look at "open files and ports".
    From this a candidate directory stands out to me:
    /private/var/folders/<random characters>/-Caches-/com.apple.dashboard.client/
    This has a cache.db that could be involved.

  • Where does the manditory CF10 update needed to be copied to?

    We are running ColdFusion 10,282462 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) server.  There are several updates waiting to be downloaded and installed.  Before I can install these updates I need to download and install a manditory update.  I have downloaded the manditory update, but I am not sure where on our server that I need to copy the files included in the cf10_mdt_updt folder which I downloaded from your website.  Where do I copy the downloaded files to on our server?

    The file I downloaded was downloaded with the following filename cf10_mdt_updt.zip.  I then ran an extract all and saved the extracted files to a folder called cf10_mdt_updt.  I then copied the folder with the extracted files to the following folder c:\ColdFusion10\jre\bin.  I then ran Command Prompt as Administrator and got the error message shown below.

  • Where does Reader pull the version number

    I use Zenworks to patch my Adobe Reader installs. I would like to push only to machines that have do not have version 9.1.2 yet as we have a lot of shared machines and the patch would push for each user. I can not figure out a file to point to and can not determine where the version is pulled from, the version that you see in add/remove programs.
    Thanks

    I apologize for posting on the wrong forum.
    The problem with the activation/deactivation of PSE8 was solved, but first I will explain in detail what the problem was since all Adobe applications go through the same process (serial number activation/deactivation).
    ORIGINAL PROBLEM: I had installed PSE8 twice and then deinstalled it at later dates. However, deinstalling an Adobe application does not deactivate the serial number (this number is left behind somewhere in the system along a few other files). So, I installed CS5 on this iMac a few months ago, and got rid of PSE8. Then a few weeks ago I bought another iMac and installed PSE8 on it, and here is where the problem began. When launching PSE8 on this iMac, a window would appear on the screen indicating that I already had the same serial number installed in two other computers, and that therefore I had 30 days to solve the problem.
    SOLUTION:
    a. Reinstalled PSE8 on the older iMac, launched it, and then chose "Deactivate" from the Help Menu and proceeded to deactivate PSE8
    b. Then I "deinstalled" PSE8 from this iMac, since I don't need it (I have CS5 on it)
    c. Launched PSE8 in the new iMac, and chose "Activate Serial Number" on the window mentioned in the last sentence of the "Original Problem" above, and this time it accepted the serial number because it could not find it in the older iMac that was still on my home network
    I hope that this could be of help to others.

  • Where does the CS5 Automatic Update put temporary files?

    I am getting the same error that I see other people have had.  When I try to download and install CS5 updates using the automatic updater, I am told that the download failed and that I should try again later.  My guess is that one of the files was damaged in the download, and that it chokes each time it tries to open it.  I suspect that the "fix" is to delete all of the downloaded and temporary files and to start over, but I don't know where they are.  Anybody know?  Thanks.

  • Does reader support saveAs conversion file types ?

    Hello,
    The "JavaScript for Acrobat API Reference" doc specifies that second parameter 'cConvID' of the doc.saveAs function is conversion file type id. This method is supported since 5.0 version. There is no restrictions available for reader accept security.
    I tried to convert pdf document to tiff using folder level script:
    doc.saveAs("/e/test.tiff", "com.adobe.Acrobat.tiff");
    This produced the following error: "An unimplemented or obsolete function was called". I'm sure this is not a security issue as I'm able to save the document as pdf if second parameter is not specifed.
    From another side I tried to test which conversion types are supported and executed the following code:
    for ( var i = 0; i < app.fromPDFConverters.length; i++)
    app.alert(app.fromPDFConverters[i]);
    In this case I got: "Get not possible, invalid or unknown" on app.fromPDFConverters. My document is not hidden and this app property is supported from 6.0 reader version without any restrictions.
    I don't have an idea what's wrong here - the only explanation that reader scripting does not support conversions. Online Help states these features are supported:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.524.html
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.110.html
    Reader versions I tested it: 9.3 and 9.3.3 with win7 and Snow Leopard. If you have any related info please share it with me.
    Thank you a lot,
    Alexey

    Hi GKaiseril, thank you for reply,
    There are my answers:
    Have you read the section about  the 'quick bar' which appears at the top of each object, property, or  method page?
    - yes, I read
    What  is the box at the far right of the bar for?
    - Availability
    What is the meaning of the  black 'S' in that box mean?
    - Requires the document save right, my document has extended usage rights including save. In addition, I'm able to save the document using saveAs function without second param specified. The problem is only reproduced if I specify conversion type id.
    Have you looked in those references for the  application object's 'viewerType'  and 'viewerVariation' properties, and the description for the quick  bars?
    - Yes, I looked. There is no such restriction for the method and property specified.
    What are the values for  those properties?
    The first box indicates that saveAs was first  added to Acrobat/Reader in version 5.0. The box at the far right of the bar show S - means you need document save right only, so saveAs function will work in  all versions and variations of Acrobat, including Adobe Reader since 5.0 version and if document have Save usage  rights.
    Have you read the section about trusted and privileged functions?
    - yes, I read. Again, I'm able to save my document without specifying the second argument  - it means my script environment and function call conditions satisfy the requirements.
    The note for the 'saveAs'  method:
    "Note: This method can only be  executed during a batch or console event. See Privileged versus  non-privileged context for details. The event object contains a discussion of JavaScript events."
    - it also can be executed from folder level scripts. For reader you need extended usage rights.
    Reader can only save as a  PDF.
    - Could you please provide more info/links for this statement? Accordingly to online help it should be possible to use "saveAs" function with conversion  type id for reader.
    How  to save a PDF with Acrobat JavaScript by Thom Parker - I read it sometime ago - did not find anything related to the issue.
    Thank you,
    Alexey

  • Where does Internet Connect store its preferences?

    I've managed to mess up my Internet Connect settings (which used to work fine, with VPNs etc. etc.). Fortunately I have a complete mirror backup of my disk from before this problem. I don't want to do a full restore; does anyone know if there's a file that stores the Internet Connect preferences and settings that I can just copy over?

    Hi Michael!
    Maybe
    HD > Users > Your Account > Library > Preferences: com.apple.internetconnect.plist this one?

  • Where does xcode 5 save the executable files that it creates?

    I already built my console application, and I can run it from xCode as well. Now I'd like to find the executable file it generates. I saw in an old tip in this forum that it's just to right-click the corresponding product item and select Show in Finder in the menu. However that option is disabled, as you can see in the picture below.
    I also tryied the bin\release\debug and it's not there as well.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Tks in advance,

    I checked the Locations and they're default, as you can see below:
    Am I correct?
    Opening the default path in Finder:
    Do you think it should be here? Where?
