Where does system update keep downloaded files?

hey guys. i was prompted to download the 10.5.3 update package in my system updates. however when i rebooted the computer to commence the upgrade, the progress bar doesn't budge. i've left it on for half a day, so im thinking i got a corrupt download. so how do i get rid of the suspect 10.5.3 patch so i can start out clean again?

Hi Maos,
You'll find the Software Update's temporary downloads in Mac HD > Library > Updates

Where does Microsoft office 2011 download updates?  I am just wondering where microsoft update stores those huge dmg files.  I want to get rid of them to save disc space.

...since upgrading from a Macbook pro to a retina pro (with the latest OS) I cannot get Outlook to work, it freezes when I try to add my email accounts info...
The latest OS is 10.8.2. You've posted in the Lion (OS 10.7.x) forum.
...I don't have a clue what can be going wrong, it was all working fine on my macbook pro with Snow Leopard and the same setup is not working with Mountain Lion on the retina, ...The only reason I upgraded from Office 2008 was because I couldn't get it to stop closing down every few seconds with 'a problem'...
Different operating systems canNOT be the "same setup."
In my original installation of Office 2011 on a 2007 MBP with OS 10.6.8, I followed the guidelines Tips for a Successful Install. In launching Outlook 2011 for the first time, it recognized that I had Entourage 2004 and I was chose the option to have all the data transferred to Outlook 2011. While that was well over a year ago, I'm fairly certain that I did not need to manually set up my multitude of existing email accounts. Subsequently, I've added new accounts. A couple of months ago, I got a new mid-2012 MBP (non-retina) with OS 10.7.4. I used Pondini's advice , which I found here in the Apple Support Community for OS 10.7, to setup the new MBP from the old MBP with Setup Assistant. Afterwards, I manually installed my applications. I am certain that I did not need to manually setup any email accounts when I launched Outlook 2011.
That said, if you did not fix the problem that you were experiencing with Office 2008 (and more specifically Entourgage 2008) but migrated that data to your new rMBR, then your problem may lie within the old data. You have not provided information on how you installed Office 2011, if your setup of Outlook is as new or datea ported from Entourage, and what troubleshooting steps you have tried. As Kurt Lang suggested, the Microsoft Community would be best with your specific issues as stated.

  • Where does iTunes 7 keep the iPod software?

    Hi All,
I work in technical support and am a bit let down by the current embedded iPod updater in iTunes 7. This works ok except for one thing, after downloading the latest iPod updater from within iTunes 7, i want to transfer the updater to various machines. Searching the libraries came up with nada. Only once i opened up the iTunes 7 package did i find "iPodUpdater.framework" in contents. It also appears that a different updater is downloaded for each model of iPod as opposed to the old stand-alone all-in-one iPod updater. So, Where does iTunes 7 keep the iPod software? We are very bandwidth challenged in my country so it is very handy to be able to keep the latest updates on an external drive, usb disk, etc.
While the embedded updater is nice and clever i think a bit more needs to be done, maybe put it into the Application Support Folder or something?
    Thank you in advance

    Thanx for your reply SeaBeast.
Erm, ok maybe I'm not being clear.
Pre iTunes7: iPod's were updated using the iPod updater application located in /Applications/Utilities. This could be downloaded as a standalone app and showed up in software updater when updating of the app was required. Easy.
iTunes7:iPod updater is now part of iTunes. Updates are downloaded from within iTunes ( iPod model specific it seems ) and sometimes it has to be forced to update, see
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060912144151766
Where does it keep these downloaded updates?
Does it modify the existing "iPod Updater 2006-06-28.app"?
To my knowledge it is now seperate from this. If it was still seperate i could download it from Apple as a stand-alone but as far as i can see this is no longer the case. Please help. Maybe I'm just being a ******* and missing something simple here.
    Thanx again.

  • Where does iWeb save the site file?

Sorry guys but this is a lazy man's question.
Where does iWeb save the site file when you click the save button?
Is it saved as a seperate file or is it hidden within the program?
I not talking about publishing it.

Yes there is...I'll refer you to Apple's own technote...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303670
But you probably don't want to keep it on your iDisk. The file could be huge and the back and forth network bandwidth involved may make iWeb opens and saves unbearably slow. I've always recommended one of those cheap USB flash drives to keep a potable Domain file on.
Has this been "helpful" to you?

  • Where does system output go to in Unix?

Where does system output go to in a Unix operating system for java?
    System.out.println

If you've started your process from a shell, then standard out is that shell - since you're asking this question I suppose it's safe to assume you didn't start this process from a shell, in which case stdout might be /dev/null or might be some log file - if you have access to the source then look and see if output has been redirected (per a previous post) if you don't have access to the source ask the folk who wrote the code where the logs are.
    Good Luck

where does my accompaniment song downloads go?

Look under the iTunes Advanced menu for the "Check for purchases" command and run that. You may find the tracks there to be downloaded.
If it says they were downloaded and you just can't find the tracks, take a look here for some tips on how to look for them.
If the iTMS says they've been downloaded and you can't find them, contact the iTunes Music Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of this web page and explain the problem to them.

  • Why does my emails keep downloading after deleting them?

Why does my emails keep downloading after deleting them?

It sounds like you may be "synced" to an IMAP email server with your ISP.  You would need to go into Mail>Preferences and set the messages to be removed from the IMAP server after some period of time so they don't redownload to your computer.  That's one possiblility.  Another is if you are synced with iCloud, then the mail is stored on your iCloud server backup and will redownload until you remove it.
    Hope this helps

Where does pacman store the downloaded stuff?
How do I get rid of them?

    /var/cache/pacman/pkg
    pacman -Sc  or pacman -Scc
i recommend -Sc ,  -Scc can be harmful in the long run if you ever need to downgrade a package
