Where does this /etc/init.d come from?

Hi,
I just noticed that I have a /etc/init.d, which I am pretty sure doesn't belong there (at least it wasn't there before).
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-01-16 16:31 init.d
I checked my pacman.log for packages I've installed the day this directory was created:
glib2 2.14.5-1
kernel 2.6.23.14.1
less 418-1
thunar 0.9.0-2
xorg-init 1.0.7-3
python-pysqlite 2.3.5-1
namcap 2.0-1
devtools 0.4-1
The only package from that list from which I, as the luser that I am, think could potentially cause this is xorg-xinit. I had a look a the PKGBUILD but couldn't find anything to back up this assumption.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
PS.: I swear, by the flying Spaghetti Monster, that I didn't create it myself .

Nothing to contribute, but I just appreciate how phrakture, and other devs/admins, are involved in the forum, it helps create an amazing community.

  • Where does the smiley Mac face come from?

    Hi folks,
Forgive me if I have the wrong forum but I couldn't find a more appropriate one. A few times recently I have come back to my machine when I've left it with aMule running (an eMule file sharing app) and I've found a smiley Mac face on the bottom of my desktop, just under where the Widget icon appears in my dock.
This face then remains on top of any other window I open. If I reboot the machine it disappears but I am just very curious to hear if anyone can explain how or why it gets there?
With my utmost thanks as always to anyone who takes the trouble to respond to my pesky query (thank heavens it's all I have to worry about for once

I guess that's the best place to ask. I am assuming it must have something to do with aMule but I just wanted to check in case anyone else is familiar with this scenario and can explain it. It seems to be malign enough, but I am a little concerned as it would suggest that the fact that I've only granted access to my shared folder for public use, this does not prevent me from the possibility of receving some unwanted stuff elsewhere and I am therefore a little concerned I might be leaving myself open to more malicious actions?
Much appreciate you bothering to get back to me

  • Billprint program where does the prior reading value come from? which table

    hi all,
In billprint pgms  the value is stored in structure ERDZ but i'm not able to find how these values are populated and where?
i need to know from which table  prior reading and current readings are populated..
is there any program that triggers the billprint forms, if so how to find it?
    pls suggest those pgm names.

    Hello,
If you have already attached the form in your contract account and you have done your meter read and Billing, you get these values during running of Invoice program.
    Pls look into EABL

  • HT6240 Where does the DEP Supervision Profile come from?

I've configured a server instance in DEP and successfully enrolled an iPad with OTA Supervision using Casper 9.4. I cannot figure out where it got the Supervision Profile from, and why it correctly states the name of my school district. I did not upload it anywhere that I remember..
    thank you,
    chris

Thank you. I now see that is coming from the DEP account information.
I was looking at an iPad that enrolled using the prestage settings but must have been supervised still from Configurator.. And the district name was slightly different than the DEP info! Confusion reigned at the end of my day..

  • Where does the name space prefix come from

When I test my mapping in the Integration Builder both my mapping type and my name space get prefixed with nsX (ie ns1, ns2, etc). How can I tell in advance was the X value will be?
    Thanks
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
    there is no possibility.
According to the XML namespace declaration the prefixes are just internal aliases with no external meaning.
    E.g. <ns1:abc xmlns:ns1="http://www.sap.com" /> and
<iLikeLongPrefixes xmlns:iLikeLongPrefixes ="http://www.sap.com" /> are totally equivalent according to the XML namespace specification.
Therefore, everyone (human or machine) who produces a program can choose the prefixes as he wants. Moreover, he may change the rules for creating these prefixes without being incompatible.
Consequently, the namespace prefixes should not be important for you.

there is a bunch of music in my library under "purchased" that I did not purchase. where does this come from?

It is possible you accidently added these songs to it. Even though the Purchased playlist is kind of a smart playlist you can still drag and drop songs from your library into it.

One thing that comes to mind is that the literal string pool is limited - do you have lots of string literals or itern() lots of strings in your code?

  • Where the value of systimestamp/sysdate comes from and dbms_scheduler

I saw bunch of other posts but I could find the post that exactly explaining about where the value returned as systimestamp/sysdate comes from or impacted or I’m missing something and need some help.
    Here is my situation
I have an access to this db (let me call db A) and when I access it, I get following result. I don’t have full access to this db so I cannot experiment a lot here.
    SYSTIMESTAMP CURRENT_TIMESTAMP LOCALTIMESTAMP DBTIMEZONE SESSIONTIMEZONE
    27-MAR-13 02.31.55.041411 AM +00:00 26-MAR-13 07.31.55.041416 PM -07:00 26-MAR-13 07.31.55.041416 PM +00:00 -07:00
    I’m in PST timezone.
I have my db which I have full access as well as its host.
I can make result like db A on my db if I started up db and its listener while TZ environment variable equal to UTC.
Now I saw in other post that someone was trying to retrieve systimestamp value in a job executed via dbms_scheduler.run_job.
So I did that in two ways. 1 with use_current_session = true and 2 is false for the same.
On my db, results are the same (both returns time in UTC) but on db A, I got UTC time when use_current_session = true and PST when use_current_session = false.
    So questions are:
What could be the difference in setup between my db and db A?
Is there a query, logfile, or anything I should check to find out what can be the difference?
Any clue about where to check will be appreciated as well and please let me know if there is some additional information necessary to provide me some help on this.
I tried to find the cause with my db and I could see the same result as db A which is to see UTC time if use_current_session = true and PST time if use_current_session = false by bringing up the db listener after I set TZ environment variable equal to PST8PDT. However this causes systimestamp from sqlplus session become also a PST time.
The reason I’m playing around with the setup and checking systimestamp value is because we are facing the situation where everywhere except pl/sql job submitted by enterprise scheduler service is pointing wrong timezone (PST instead of UTC) and I’ve been searching the solution or clue for where to look at.

    Hi Stephen,
I think your first thought about using a javascript timer, call an APEX application process to get the new value and finally set it in the page 0 item would be the way I would take. :)
+"Also, the message shown may vary depending on who is logged in, i.e. the user session. More than user is logged-in at the same time."+
In case you use an application process this shouldn't be any problem.

    OK - I think I've got it.
It's picked up my contacts from my Exchange account - and it's also picked up "suggested contacts" as well. Which is where I was getting confused.

  • [solved] Where does yaourt store packages it creates from AUR ?

    Hi !
Using yaourt for AUR access, pretty happy with it, too (most features & fast enough for me).
Now when I install something from the AUR, I'd like to keep a backup copy of the package (handy especially for some git / svn packages that do not always build). This leads to the question, where does yaourt store the packages before installing (should be able to grab a copy then ...) ? Or does yaourt itself keep a backup copy somewhere, like pacman does ?
    Thanks, A.
