Where dose Logic/Mac Pro store its audio units?

Hello,
dose anyone know wich folder AU (audio units) are stored on a Mac Pro? they are usually in Library>Audio>Plug-ins>Components. but there is nothing in that folder and i am trying to get one of my plugins (Atmosphere Intel Mac Wrapper) to find its AU, its in that folder but the program is not finding it. so i thought if there was a diferent folder that AUs are stored it might find it there.
thanks!
Luke.

are you looking at a users library? try the system drive... select hard disc then library e.t.c.

It is an iOS app in the iTunes store.

  • Are Logic's instruments and effects Audio Units yet?

I quote from the logic manual: +"Audio Units is the standard Mac OS X format for real time plug-ins. It can be used for audio effects, software instruments, and Generators. The Audio Unit format is incorporated into the operating system, and installed Audio Unit plug-ins can be simultaneously accessed by all applicable programs. Logic Pro supports all Audio Unit format plug-ins."+
If this is the case, it seems odd to me that the "audio effects, software instruments and Generators" that come with Logic are not Audio Units (or weren't in Logic versions < 8).
"Why do I care?" you might ask? Well, mainly because I'm interested in using different Audio Unit hosts -- specifically, I'm playing with "live coding" (see www.toplap.org), and the instruments and effects in Logic would be wonderful to be able to live-code to.
I just scanned through the manual (it's nice that it's posted), but it mainly focuses on the Audio Unit host features of Logic, and doesn't mention the components.
Can anyone answer whether this decision has been changed yet?
    thanks!

You're confusing an API with a set of Plug-ins. Yes, Logic's plug-ins are all AU's. They all conform to the AU specs. However, they are exclusive to Logic. To believe that the plug-ins will ever be available outside of Logic is more folly than anything else. It would go the same for any DAW. Logic is no exception to the rule.

  • Where to Buy Mac Pro?

    Hello Folks,
Any recommendations on the best place to buy a new Mac Pro, the Apple Store, online, LA Computers, MacConnection, Amazon and would you recommend the purhcase of Apple Care?
    Many thanks for your help.
    Jim

would you also recommend that I buy the least amount of ram from Apple and then buy from Crucial or the like?
If you intend to immediately buy 3rd party RAM then yes. Apart from the convenience of buying it preinstalled there isn't any really compelling reason to buy it from Apple. There was a time that 3rd party RAM was either not available nor cheaper than RAM from Apple so many of us bought Apple but that has long past (Ned having been one of the s*ckers that had to pay through the nose for his).
In addition have you also heard that there have been some problem issues with boot camp 1.3 and running XP?
I have although I couldn't give any specifics. Mostly it's regarding Parallels users having a dummy spit at it not working right. You might want to look in the Boot Camp for better details on this. The MacFixIt web site…
    http://www.macfixit.com/
… is really helpful too. I've personally not got around to installing version 1.3.

  • No sound out of my MAC PRO Optical Digital audio port

I own a Mac Pro early 2007, running MAC OS X Ver 10.6.7
I also have  a set of Logitech Speakers Z5500 connected to the Optical digital port
    No problem ever until now
Suddenly I am not getting any sound out my Mac Pro.
The speaker are testing fine, the volume is set correctly and in the system preferences, in the Sound function the device is selected for Digital Out.
I am at my rope's end.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Thanks

  • Mac Pro no analog audio input

The analog audio input on my Mac Pro has stopped working.  Audio output still OK; USB audio input works fine but nothing from analog audio input.
I know it's getting a signal as I can send the mixer output to a Zoom H4n and it records fine, but I need it to go directly into the computer for tutorial voiceovers.  I've tried recording in Quicktime Player, Soundtrack Pro, Camtasia and Screenflow.
I get no volume indication in the System Preferences>Sound panel.
I opened Apple Midi Setup>analog input and I can adjust volume on the two channels but "Master" is stuck at zero.  Could this be the problem?

See if a smc reset shakes it loose.
Just to be clear here.  Are you inputting into a program and expect to hear it as well? If so, then unless the program itself has some kind of audio playthru to the speakers you need a app like LineIn to handle that function.

  • Logic Pro and Basic Audio Units

Is anyone else having an issue with Logic Pro 9.1.8 and using legacy/basic audio unit effects located in the Audio Units > Apple location?  It seems as though anytime I try to use an AU* type plugin with my project the EQ freezes like it did before the 9.1.8 update was applied.  I've noticed the issue occuring when I have 8+ tracks with midi, samples, and Apple Loops in the project.  The HD and CPU meters are very low (1-2 bars) and it just hangs.  I don't think track count or track type has anything to do with this issue as my last project had ~24 tracks and did fine up until I added in AULowpass and that is when I started having problems with the EQ.

This is because you have Punch on the fly enabled under Options (top menu)>Audio>Punch on the Fly.... signified by the letter P instead of the letter R

  • Where to most Mac App store "would like to see someone develop"

Where do you post such things:
Not sure where to post this other than in this topic hoping that developers might be looking here.
Now that Dataviz discontinued MacLink Deluxe, there are no good apps to convert old WriteNow (one of the early Mac word processers) into a modern format. Sure MS office "kind of" works, but I would defenitely buy an app that only converted (similar to MacLink) old WriteNow 3 and 4 documents into either rtf or doc formats that can be used today.
Sorry if this is not the place to post such a thing.
MacLink was good, but had way to many complicated, bloated options. It would be nice just to have a simple app to convert this old format. Maybe alternative apps of this kind could then be purchased to convert more of the file formats that MacLink converted. I think you would sell more of an app that just converted one older file format, however.

Besides, if you dont' ask, how do you know if anyone else is interested.
At some point, someone probably asked, "wouldn't it be cool if there was a Mac App store like iTunes for the Mac..."
    Absolutely!

  • Accessing my Mac Pro for its software

    Hello,
Here is the set-up. I have a Mac Pro with various software on it that I use for work. There are times during the day that my wife needs to use some of the things on this machine. She has a Macbook.
    Here is the ideal:
My wife would be able to access my machine to use software (such as taking care of our book keeping) while I continue to go about my work.
So this is different from remote access.
She would not be taking over my machine, just having the ability to use the data and software.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Set up a wired or wireless network, open the Sharing preferences on your computer and turn on File sharing. Your wife should be able to access your computer via the local network. You should create a user account for her on your computer that she can log into. You can assign her the files she needs.
You can find information about this using your online Help.

  • Where on the Mac Pro do I find my video clips?

Is there an Icon i should activate?  New user attempting to navigate photos and video clips.

    pslpeggy wrote:
I found them using the spotlight.  But, shouldn't they "be someplace?"  Do i make a folder?
In some ways it should not be much different than Windows. Using Spotlight is like using Windows Desktop Search: It only finds stuff that's already stored "someplace"! So your clips are already on the disk in folders.
Here's what you want to do. If you used the Spotlight icon on the menu bar to find the file, select the file in the search results that drop down and press Command-Return. This will open the file in its enclosing folder, showing you exactly where the file is stored on your desktop.
If you used the File/Find command in the Finder (another way of using Spotlight), the results show up in a Finder window (the same as a folder window on a Windows desktop). There, you can select the file and choose File/Open Enclosing Folder (or press its Command-R shortcut).
Furthermore, if you can see a clip in iMovie you can find out where it is stored on the disk. In the Event Library in iMovie, simply right-click the clip and choose Reveal in Finder, and, once again, the clip will be shown on the desktop in the folder it is stored in.
Notes: If you are not using a right-click mouse with your Mac, you can get the right-click menu by Control-clicking or configuring your trackpad to right-click. Also, the "Reveal in Finder" command is very similar to the "Show in Explorer" command in Windows. Again...it is more like Windows than you think, don't let yourself be intimidated.

  • Using Mac Pro on its side?

My first mac ever, the MacPro is due next Wednesday and I am wondering if it is possible to use it by turning it "on its side", ie, 90 degrees from its normal orientation.
Secondly, if that is possible, and I get a LCD monitor, could I place the monitor on "top" of the MacPro in this orientation".
Am concerned about air flow, etc, and sure don't want to do anything that would hurt the operation of my first Mac....

I may be a little nuts, but I thought perhaps it just might be more stable on its' side
They're pretty sturdy in their expected orientation. At 20+kg it'll take quite and effort to tip it over.
and the thought of a little grandchild "accidentally" bumping the MacPro over when I was not looking seemed like a reasonable apprehension
True, although one option is to screw a small bracket to the table to stop this from happening. I've see a couple of people do this for child-proofing (though not specifically for a Mac). Two small pieces of wood to size in an L-shape and four angled brackets and screws.
As for the optical drive try, in a vertical orientation (for the drive) there needs to be a little clip that extends over the discs to stop it falling out when inserting and ejecting it. Without that (it'll be part of the tray) it's not avisable. You could always swap the optical drive (or install a 2nd drive) with one that has this clip.

  • Where on earth does akonadi store its data?

    Hi there!
I got into trouble trying to upgrad to KDESC 4.6 beta1. So I thought for debugging it would be useful to start over with vanilla KDESC without any settings. Thus I created a new user. But after the first try I can't get rid of KDESC's configuration. I deleted ~/.kde4, I deleted /tmp/ksocket-<username>, and I deleted /tmp/kde-<username>. Still, e.g. kmail2 remembers something like the accounts I had set up before deleting these directories. So what do I have to do to make KDESC forget about all its settings?
    Best wishes,
    Rufus

Ah. Could've thought about this myself. Turns out there's some more stuff in ~/.local and ~/.config. Thank you very much!

  • Where the **** is the audio line-in plug on the Mac Pro?

I must be very dumb, but i cannot find any audio-in on my mac pro (black urn)...

All it has for audio input is:
Headphone port: The right audio port with a headset icon is a 1/8" stereo minijack for headphones. When you plug in headphones to this port, sound is redirected from the internal speakers to the headphones. Headphones will appear in System Preferences > Sound > Output. If the headset contains a microphone, it will appear in System Preferences > Sound > Input. iPhone headsets including mic and inline controls are supported. Digital output devices are not supported on this port.
