Where has the Join Tracks command moved to in iTunes 11?

I have installed the latest version of iTunes and began rippng an audiobook. It took me a few minutes to navigate the new interface to figure out how to Join CD Tracks, but the first 10 CDs worked fine, then the last CD had no visible "Join CD Tracks" item on the Options pull dowm. I selected all the items but no 'Join' appears. In searching the online resources it appears iTunes does not think these are joinable, but they are certainly next to one another on the CD I am ripping. Any idea or hellp would be appreciated.

Are thre tracks listed in the correct order? If you select a different sort order to the track number (i.e. songs title alphabetical order, by clicking on the top of the name column), then you cannot join tracks.
In the screenshot below (that I took for another post, earlier today);
notice the arrow at the top of the number column. That tells me that the tracks are in track order. If the arrow is pointing the other way, or it's at the top of one of the other columns, you cannot use Join Tracks. In that case, simply click on the top of the number column until the arrow is pointing upwards.

My iPad is a first generation so it on IOS 5 and I am running iTunes 11. Shows up for me as I said above. Maybe somebody else knows whay it doesn't work for you.
Probably try all the usual suspects Power on and Off for ipad 9 Not Standby, hold down Power button until a red slider appears. The when off keep it pressed for 2-3 secs and iPad will reboot.
Also switch of iTunes and Computer and the switch back on.
Never know it might help certainly wouldn't hurt

Where has the backup to disk option gone in iTunes 10.4?

The option to backup your library is gone from iTunes 10.4 (or at least I cannot find it) and that was a feature I used regularly as a secondary backup solution. Where has it gone? Is there no easy way to backup your library to disc now? Is the only way to backup now with time machine?

I logged a case with iTunes support and received a call back yesterday. The agent had no clue that 10.4 did not have the backup to disk function. After i insisted that it was gone, I was put on hold, and he came back with an amazing explanation. All he could tell me is that it was because the "iCloud" would now be the way for users to backup, but at a cost of course. He was unable to give any details or point me to any refrence material on this change. in my opinion, this is an amazing change in the way apple does business. Like the US congress, they changed the rules in the shadows, and did not tell anyone they were doing it. OK, i understand that tech savy users will see this as no problem, but how about good old normal Joe who is not a techie and uses the backup to disk function as his primary backup? Joe will now have to wait for the iCloud to become mainstream, wait for instructions that do not exist today and pay for the ability to backup. Apple has gone the way of all the others now, revenue befoe the customer! This is a very shady way to change a policy and changes how i think of apple as a company. When will they come clean and tell everyone about the change, and how? Bad move Apple!

Where is the total tracks and size information in itunes when I select multiple items?

In older versions of iTunes, when I was creating a playlist for burning to a cd, I was able to see the number of tracks selected and the total size. Is this information still available somewhere?

Yes, it is in the Status Bar at the bottom of the playlist or library. It shows song count, time, and total file size.
If you do not see the Status Bar, enable it by using the command View > Show Status Bar, or the shortcut CTRL+/.

Where has the 'send a gift' section gone in iTunes?

A while ago I sent a piece of music as a gift to a friend. It was done by clicking a link on the iTunes page when I selected a song and went on to pay.
I tried to do this again today but the link doesn't seem to be there.
There is one for vouchers, etc but not individual songs.
Any ideas anyone?

I just took a look at several albums chosen at random in the UK iTunes Music Store, and every one had the Gift This Music link. So the feature has not gone missing, at any rate. Select the album and it's right under the album title. If you want to gift just a particular track, each track (unless it's an album-only track) will have a button for "Gift Song".

Two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates. Use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.

where has the visualizer button gone in the bottom right corner?
bit of a pain as i used it quite often

iTunes 7 is pretty smart overall, nevertheless I have a few serious gripes with the interface. Firstly the little 'snowflake' icon on the bottom right that switches on the visuals has been replaced by the browse and burn icons. Was there a problem with the previous layout? My wife and I use that button everytime we turn on the visuals on our Mac Mini sound system in the living room. It was super convenient because you could move in a single mouse sweep from selecting a playlist to switching on visuals. With iTunes 7 you have to either select from the pop-down menu or switch to the keyboard and press cmd+T. It might not seem such a big deal to some but it's definitely a backwards step, no matter how small.
The album art selector/display is very cool and niftily programmed however I'll never use it. The reason? Because if you fill it with album artwork, all those images are displayed over the visualiser at the start of each tune, which I HATE. I don't want sleeve designs ruining the beauty of G-Force which I paid good money to see. It's bad enough having the track info show when I already know what's playing! iTunes 7 is simply not configurable enough if you ask me, and hey, you shouldn't have to start configuring Fkeys to make up for the fundemental lack of choice in the program preferences.
I have a pal who loves the gapless playback in the new iTunes 7 because it's great for mix cds. Well maybe that's the best playback feature of iTunes 7 but I'm afraid it doesn't make up for the loss of the visualiser button, so there!

Where is the audio track in a dvdproj file?

I have a number of old iDVD projects stored on hard disc that I need to convert to a useable format. I've been able to find the MPEG compressed video files by right-clicking on the .dvdproj bundle and opening the Contents/Resources/MPEG.nobackup folder, but the files have no audio track. Where is the audio track stored?

Unless you've created an archive iDVD project file the audio is only linked to the project from wherever you kept the files when creating the project.

Where has the calendar list view gone?

Where has the list view gone from the calendar in iOS 7 iPhone?
The current view is awful and verges on unusable.

I was also kind of annoyed that they got rid of list view. You now have to click the magnifying glass at the top and it will give you the list view. There should be a dedicated button for the list view but hopefully they will change this in a future update.
