Where have my iPad iPhoto albums disappeared to?

iPad mini (retina), 64GB, iOS 8.1.3, iPhoto 9.6
iMac Yosemite 10.10.02
I used to have my special photos (eg our son's and daughter's weddings, Beijing trip, etc) on my iPad. I have a separate album on my iMac that I named iPad so that only these folders would copy over to my iPad. Now when I go to my iPad to look at these folders (Photos > Albums) they have disappeared. In Albums I now have All Photos, Videos, Last Import and Recently Deleted.  In Photos everything appears to be in date order dating back to January 2011. No sign of my special albums.
In iTunes, when I go to iTunes, Devices, my iPad, there is no longer a Photos tab, only Music, Movies, TV shows, Books, Audiobooks and Tones. How can I get my albums back? Any help gratefully received. Thank you.

Most of the time in these cases, the user has more than one email and therefore more than one revel account. When you were logged in before, was it with a different email, or google or facebook? My best guess is that you logged in recently with a different email.  I will send you an email so you don't have to post your email addresses online. The account using the gmail account you use on this forum was only created 7 hours ago, so it is not the same account  you were logged into previously when you added photos.

  • I have on iPad iPhoto, how do i import to my mac the albums that i created on the iPad iPhoto?

I have on iPad iPhoto, how do i import to my mac the albums that i created on the iPad iPhoto?

Here's a Mac World article that may help. Still not perfect but will help transfer edited photos. If done in groups you can re-create the Albums on the Mac.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/2010727/the-ultimate-iphoto-workflow.html
Basically the process requires "Sharing to iTunes" through the iPad's app then syncing with iTunes. The shared photos will be found in the File Sharing section of the Apps tab of it's sync settings, not the Photos syncing tab.
The other method is to save your edited photos to Camera Roll and import through iPhoto on the Mac or Photo Stream. Once again you'll need to do it in groups to save your Albums then recreate them on the Mac.
I should also mention I have yet to use iPhoto on the iPad and there could very well be a better method out there. I have been researching for the best work flow to copy photos from my iPad which will be copied to the iPad with the camera connection kit, organized and edited on the iPad then copied in that state to my Mac once I get home. I like the idea behind Photo Journals while traveling and was disappointed to find they can not be saved, backed up or viewed through iPhoto on the Mac. I'm sure there are easier work flows but this is probably close to the route I will be taking.
    Any other input?

  • How to keep photos in order i have them on Iphoto album when I burn a CD?

How can I keep my photos in the order I have them on IPHOTO in albums when I burn them to a CD.
They do not stay in order, but scatter all over the CD.   I number them starting at 1 using no 0 nor double
numbers.  When I need a double number I use a letter,  like 9f.
How can I keep the people's names under the photos when I burn a CD?

Files on disk have no order - the order is supplied by the viewing program (like the finder) - for example using the finder you can view the same set of files in alpha order, by size, by date created, etc, etc - so all you can do is give the files an atribute that the viewing program can use and tell the viewer what view options to use - you have no control over it
The most common way to do this is to export photos using the sequential file name option (see the user tip on exporting fro details on the available options) and then have the viewer view in alpha sort

  • How do I recover missing iPhoto albums and pictures?

A week ago, all my iPhoto Albums disappeared that normally would appear in the left iPhoto column under LIBRARY and RECENT. When I opened the iPhoto app from both the Dock and the Applications folder, an iPhoto window opens and asks if I would like to set up my iPhoto Library. The first few times this happened, I ignored the request and tried again with the same results.
I tried unsuccessfully finding and restoring the iPhoto Library Database from my external 3TB Time Machine hard drive. I couldn't find any full iPhoto Library Database backup and my backups go back a year. Instead, all I found and restored are photos and videos that were saved outside of iPhoto on the Desktop and in hard drive folders. Several months ago, there was a similar occurrence, but I was able to restore the Library Database. With no luck this time, I eventually allowed iPhoto to start up as if it was being installed for the first time and I never had the option to load an earlier backup Library Database or choose an automatic restore from an earlier version or backup.
While trying to go through various recovery choices with iPhoto, I started getting iCloud login popups asking for my Apple ID and password. I kept cancelling these because I had not previously set up iCloud. When iCloud messages persisted, I finally used my ID and password and the popups stopped. I'm clueless why this was happening and I remain clueless as to what occurred after I tried many cancellations, then finally entered my ID and password. Since then (two days ago), there has been no evidence of iCloud operating or requiring my attention.
After holding the command+option keys to start the iPhoto app, I've tried all the radio button options, one at a time, to Repair, Rebuild, Recover, Examine with no luck. Instead, all that is found are the same files I already mentioned. When I start iPhoto now after allowing it to start up from scratch, the Library Database shows iPhoto Library Recovered Photos (2 photos), Resources (176 photos), a CD backup, Desktop, and lots of short collections of media, resources, thumbnails, and other graphics images I don't recognize and are probably Invisibles. The only photos that appear when Photos is clicked in the left colum of iPhoto are photos that were apparently imported from backed up desktop and hard drive folders. All the photos that were previously imported to iPhoto and stored in iPhoto albums no longer appear individually or in albums in the left column of iPhoto.
    I'm using a one-year old iMac running Mac OS X Version 10.7.5 with iPhoto '11 Version 9.2 (626).
I'm reasonably confident the phtoos and albums are recoverable somewhere, but I'm at a loss to find out where. I've been running Macs since 1984 and this is the first time I have been totally unable to explain or recover from an OS, hardware, or app-level problem.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. If absolutely necessary, I could pack up all my gear and take it to an Apple office 23 miles away for help.

My problem was not so much the loss of pictures, but the loss of their virtual association into albums I created because the albums were no longer appearing when iPhoto was started. I was reluctant to do any reinstalls of the OS, Tme Machine, or iPhoto because I was confident the existing installs were as they should be. Instead, I explored earlier Time Machine backups of iPhoto-related files and folders. I tried several different files/folders to see what I could find when I restored and opened them. To my delight, I found an earlier "iPhoto Library (original)" that, once I restored it to my desktop, iPhoto automatically found the virtual album-photo associations that existed prior to the earlier loss of albums; the restored albums appea as they should in the left column of iPhoto. This "fix" was not intuitively obvious to me, but I was pleased it worked.
A simple iPhoto explanation through iPhoto Help would have been very helpful if the explanation would have said iPhoto Album and Smart Album photo associations are logical, not physical, and the associations and album names are store in the iPhoto Library folder.
At this point, I'm hesitant to move the restored "iPhoto Library (original)" from the desktop, perhaps to the Applications folder, because I don't want to run the risk of undoing what seems to be working. Should I leave this on the desktop or move it?

  • How to order iphoto albums by date?

I have resorted my Iphoto albums over and over. They STILL rearrange themselves. What am I doing wrong? Heck.

iPhoto 1.0 did that automatically until iphoto 4 or so... it even sorted photos in dated folderes using exif data. For whatever reason a "brilliant" person in apple decided  to date the folders with the importing date, some absolutely useless. And also decided to take out the calendar feature and created the also useless events concept, which is ok for a couple of mum and dad pictures, but useless if you have thousands of pictures and hundreds of events and projects.
Aperture mimics iPhoto and missed this too for the sake of compatibility. Flickr has way better sorting capabilities in that respect than Aperture & iPhoto. In flickr you have a calendar where you see all pictures by date...  something absolutely ease to implement in both Aperture and iPhote but Apple decided not to.
Halfway Solution: Smart Folders and show date under every picture. That way if you create a Smart Folder 2012 (11) NOV: inside you will see all pictures of that month and you can spot fast the pictures shot on Nov the 10th.
This is the way a name folders and pictures:
Year (Month Number)  Month's Name 3 first letters - Day of the Week 3 first letters - HourMinuteSecond - Event Name or Activity - City - Country
    2012 (11) Nov Sun 13h23m34s - 11 Apostoles - Great Ocean Road - Victoria - Australia
I've being naming my pics this way for the last 10 years and I spot instantely where I have take every picture just reading the name. You can use IPTC and Aperture or other rename app.
    I name folders like this:
Year (Month Number)  Month's Name 3 first letters - Event or Activity o Proyect
    2012 (11) Nov - Event or Activity o Proyect
Using Month Number sorted folders and pictures by date.

  • Delete iPhoto Album/iPhoto Library

In my home Picture Folder I have
    A's iphoto Album
    iPhoto Library
    iPhoto Library_2
    The third being the (default)
I know that is in the other two and have no use for them.
Can I safely delete the other two?

I have no idea what "an iphoto Album" is
If you have multiple iPhoto libraries and you are SURE that you do not want one or more of them you cna simply drag the one you are SURE you do not want to the trash - probably a good idea to test iPhoto prior to emptying the trash to avoid human errors

  • I have my wallpaper/screensaver pointed at my iPhoto album. why does a photo of half dome pop up occasionally? where is the photo stored?

i have an late '09 27" iMac upgraded to yosemite (I've accepted all upgrades from apple along the way). i have my alternating backgrounds & screensaver pointed at my iPhoto album. so why does a photo of half dome pop up occasionally? where is the photo stored? i have been to yosemite many times and do love the scenery there, but i'd like to be in charge of my screensaver. i've tried looking for the photo by name/name fragment,  but of course, if apple doesn't want us to find it, we won't find it. i don't like apple preventing me from setting up background/screensaver to my liking. apple makes the computer for the rest of us.

    You're welcome.
have you noticed for yourself if these photos are always mixed with one's selection via system preferences?
Actually no.  What I have always done was this:  I have a collection of custom desktop pictures   I made a custom folder for the pictures & placed them inside the Machintosh>Library>Desktop Pictures folder.
Then I went into System Preferences>Desktop & Screensaver>Desktop, clicked on the plus sign to add my custom picture folder.
    Restarted my comp.
Never had any issues by doing the above.  I have always done it this way since the Tiger OS.

  • All my MacBook Air iPhoto (9.5.1 on OSX 10.9.4) albums are missing; where have they gone?

All my iPhoto (vs.9.5.1) albums (normal, smart and folders) are missing. On MacBook Air (2GB, 128GB SSD, OSX 10.9.4)
Where have they gone, and how can I get them back?

    Give this a go:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
    User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Photos and photo albums disappeared, but iPhoto library still has 60 GB.

Photos and photo albums disappeared, web gallery titles remain but show (0). iPhoto library still has 60 GB size. How do I retrieve photos, events and albums. Thanks in advance.

Are you getting an "!" in the window when you try to edit a photo. The "!" means that the library has lost the file path to the original file. This happens when there has been an interruption to iPhoto while it is writing to it's database file, Library6.iPhoto. Moving, renaming files or folder inside the library package while in the Finder is another way you can get that indication. Try the three fixes below in order as needed:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
2 - rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. Report back on how long it took and how many photos you have in the library so we can give other users an idea of how long it may take.
3 - start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I have lost my photo albums on my iPad Although the photos are still there. How do I get the albums back?, I have lost my photo albums on my iPad Although the photos are still there. How do I get the albums back?

It's version iPhoto '11. I sent the photos to the trash from in the resident iPhoto application, but not to the iPhoto trash, but the OS's trash in the bottom right task bar (Finder Trash).
Realizing what I had done, I dragged the picture folder back into the "Pictures" folder under my name in the Finder. I also dragged the iPhoto Library file back, but it said a new one had been created... I still attempted to replace the new with old iPhoto Library file.
The pictures are back and i can see the album names under events. The problem is that the album covers, nor the pictures themselves show up as thumbnails like they did before... they only show when you individually click on the photo to bring it into full view. I only see a grey background where the thumbnail was.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Evan
