Where, if any, Word Count and Word Frequency tools on Apple Works or MS Wrd

Hi C,
In an AppleWorks WP document, go Edit > Writing Tools > Word count. This will give you a count of characters, words, lines and paragraphs in the document or, if you have selected a portion of the document, in the selection.
To my knowledge, there's no tool to give a word frequency figure, although that could be done with some fairly easy manipulation involving a spreadsheet.
For MS Word questions, I'd suggest checking the Word section of Microsoft's Mactopia site. Try searching "count words".

What happened to page count, word count and the toolbar at the top?

Is there any way to edit the toolbar so that when I want to switch fonts I don't have to keep opening the toolbar on the side? (Is there anyway I can get the toolbar from the previous version back?)
Also, is there a way for the page count and word count to show up and stay there for future documents? I had the word count appear and tried to save that as a template but when trying to open up new documents I have to go back and make it so the word count shows up again.

Yes. Menu > View > Customize Toolbar... drag/drop the Fonts icon adjacent to the Comments icon on the Toolbar. The Fonts icon now becomes a toggle to show/hide the Fonts toolbox, which you could also produce with a command+T.

No. Available via Menu > View > Show Word Count. This produces a floating box at the bottom of your document. When you roll over it with your mouse, you have a selection of words, characters, and paragraphs. The word count excludes spaces.

PDFMaker (Acrobat XI) add-in causes Word 2010 and Word 2013 to crash

Hello. I'm having an issue with Acrobat XI and Word 2010 and Word 2013. Whenever I try to create a PDF using the Acrobat tab on the ribbon, I get a message that Word has stopped working.
I have installed the updates for Acrobat.

Any ideas why it is crashing?

I'm still suffering the same issue. I am also running Word 2010 SP2.
My brother installed on his system which is Windows 7, Office 2010 and it works fine.
I have now gone back to Actobat X and it's working.
The issue doesn't occur in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
Adobe have not been helpful at all. I am seriously getting the mind of asking for my money back.

Does anyone know why the word count in Word for Mac changes so drastically? In one document it goes up and down by several hundred at a time when I have done nothing but scroll through the document.

I am new to the wonderful world of Mac and all of my documents were created in MS Word on my old laptop. I noticed that the word counts were slightly different when I opened the documents in Word for Mac, but then I noticed that they changed drastically. For intance, I opened a document today and after the initial period where the word count shifts, it seemed to settle on 13,171. I left the document for a while to work on some other things and when I came back the word count had changed to 11,677. I didn't do anything to the document. Word counts are important to me since I need at least 60,000 for my PhD Dissertation. Which word count should I trust?

Word Count and Footnotes

Hello,
I have looked at some of the posts on word count but I need to do a word count that automatically includes footnotes. MS Word supports this. Does Pages and, if so, how?

Does anyone know if pages have a word count for just typing papers and seeing how many words I've typed?

Do you know that many questions like yours are answered in the resources delivered by Apple ?
Here we aren't sooth sayers. We are unable to guess which version of Pages you are using.
In Pages '08, the word count is available thru two paths
(1) Edit > Writing Tools > Show Statistics
(2) Inspector > Document > Info
In Pages ’09 the described paths are always valid but there is a complementary one :

Created a pdf from a word-file and inserted formfields. The fields works in other pdf-readers(nitro,reader etc), but not in adobe reader and acrobat. Please help.

I have created a pdf from a word-file and inserted formfields for a work related file. I've used nitro pro to create the formfield. They works in nitro, reader, foxit etc. but not adobe reader. From page 3 and out, the font wont show when writing in a formfield. Some formfield doesnt even show.
Please help me fix this (hopefully before the presentation at work friday) :-)

Agreed. Adobe makes no claims that their Reader will work properly with forms made from third party software.

i worked on standard leave request demo workflow templette, in that revise(update), delete the leave request, in that manuually delete the request , that to be extended to when revise the leave request more than 3 times it automatically delete the leave request.i created one container element INDEX of type SYST-INDEX, where do i increment the counter and where do i check the condition.

You can increment the counter using Container Operation type step in Workflow. You have also Condition step that you can use in Workflow.

Reset the tools. Look for this> and reset all tools
If that does not fix it, reset preferences to default. Go to Edit menu>Edit>Preferences>General and look for this
Close PSE and relaunch

Word counts and character counts

Hi,
I'm using Pages '06. I would like to be able to count the number of words and characters in a paragraph in Pages. I know that if i go to the Document Inspector and click info, it gives me word and character counts for the entire document. Is there a way to do this for individual paragraphs?

After you install WordService (see link in Dennis' post), you can access several new services in the Pages menu. You may have to restart Pages &/or your Mac.
WordService & CalcService add their functions to any OS X program that has been programed to utilize Services. I've been using them since shortly after I got iWork '05.

PS 9 crashes when using Healing brush. Clone tool and all other tools seem to work ok.

Just installed v9 today. Have been using v7 for a long time and there is a little difference in using these tools, but as soon as I start to paint with healing brush (with the content aware button on)(or any other variation for that matter), the program crashes. This seems to be the only problem although the Topaz filters seem to be pretty slow as compared to using them in version 7. I have 2gb of ram and a 2.4 mhz Intel processor with a GEforce 5200 128mb graphic card. I think that all of the other sys requirements are met or exceeded as well. Anyone got any ideas?????????

Feathering and Refine Edge Tool will not work.

I am working correctly and selecting pixels correctly, but when I try to feather or use the refine edge tool, none of the changes are saved. For $40. Adobe thinks that they can solve this problem, but after paying $2500. for the CS4 Master Suites, I think this is excessive. Is there ANYBODY out there who knows how they're going to magically obviate these issues remotely? Any clues?

I think you may still not grasp what a Selection does – but I could be wrong.
You can feather a Selection, but unless you base some operation on that Selection it has no bearing on the pixels in an image.
A Layer Mask on the other hand can be filtered or edited in the Masks Panel or …

Spot healing, lasso, and the move tool don't work

These tools don't do anything. I can find them and select but nothing happens.

Selecting the Tools should not cause anything much to happen yet (apart from the cursor icon and the Options Bar reflecting the Tool selected).
What exactly do you do for example with the Lasso Tool?
Could you please post a screenshot to illustrate the issue?
