Where is 8.1 for Samsung ATIV SE!! This is getting totally ridiculous!  At least an answer would be nice, an estimate, anything!!

When is this update going to be released? Have my phone since ?June and still no 8.1. What is going on? Why does ATT have 8.1 for all their windows phones? Getting ready to take my phones to another carrier.

Be careful what you wish for. I have a Samsung ATIV SE II, which I've been really happy with. I was offered the 8.1 upgrade tonight and let it download, and now this is only able to be used for phone calls and texts. None of my 5 email accounts work. I can't open any apps at all. Most of my tiles on the home screen are now just gray squares. My gmail accounts all say "Attention required", but I can't access them. I deleted one and attempted to recreate it, but when I click the Add Account + sign, nothing happens. My Outlook account tile shows new messages are arriving, but I can't open it to read them. Every app I select just takes me back to the home screen. I'm now forced to do a factory reset just so I can use it again. Who the heck tested this?

Wondering when Windows 8.1 will be available for the Samsung ATIV SE?

    To Verizon Wireless:
Please help us.  If it isn't apparent, your customers are becoming increasingly upset that we haven't been even remotely engaged with any information about the Windows 8.1 update (soon to be 8.1 update 1).  Many people, like my wife and I (yes, we each have one), bought this phone on good faith when one of your sales staff told us that the phone(s) would receive the 8.1 update as soon as it was officially released.  If I recall correctly, it was something to the effect that the phone shipped with Windows 8 to get the product in the hands of the consumer but that 8.1 was already tested and ready for "immediate" release.  This approach would apparently get 8.1 out way faster because it was quicker to push the update over the air than it would be to wait until the official release date and then ship with 8.1 from the factory.  Reading the boards, I have a pretty strong feeling that I'm not the only one who got this information for more than one model of handset.  To make matters worse, when asked for information you try to placate the masses with an update link (go ahead, click Pamela's response to DeeCT) that doesn't even apply to the specific piece of hardware.  If you're going to string us along at least please don't do it with the Samsung Odyssey... why not go all in and link it to the Galaxy S5 or a Blackberry or something?  Otherwise, you could simply admit that you told us what we wanted to hear until you got us to to sign.  This is the same move that Buffalo Bill pulls in "The Silence of the Lambs" when he tricks the girl into the back of his van.  The best part is that everyone else saw it coming: "Probably not a good idea... this sounds shady... his arm isn't broken... why are you getting in the van?  Idiot!"  Unfortunately, I'm a loyal, long-time customer with few previous issues and took you at your word.  I should have done more research into Verizon's reputation for timely updates and general concern for existing customers before I pulled the trigger.  Well played.  I get to put the lotion on my skin for the next 2 years.  Well played.
I apologize for my frustration and bitterness, but I am tired of getting punched square in the groin every time my wife sees the Windows 8.1 "Siri vs. Cortana" commercial, as she reminds me how I convinced her against the iPhone.
That being said, on a positive note, my main gripe isn't with the phone.  It's a good piece of hardware and works very well.  I just didn't buy it for Windows 8.
Please just tell something... anything.  If the phone wasn't successful enough to merit the update just tell us.  If it's going to take more time then give us a better estimate than "we have no info".  I understand that you have no obligation to provide the update and that the product shipped in working order with the "advertised" operating system, but you should understand that when your sales staff promises an immediate service and you fail to address your customers' concerns... you risk losing those customers.
So, throw me a bone.  I just want to know if I get to hear about it during every commercial break for the next two years.  Especially when the iPhone 6 comes out.  That will be fun... I'm looking forward to that.

  • Where can I look for my SPAM, I am not getting some emails I am expecting?

I am expecting a refund from Wal Mart and they said they have sent it to me and that I should check my SPAM if I haven't received it, I do not let garbage or SPAM enter the inbox, so I have no idea where to look to see if indeed they have sent me the refund and it did in fact go into SPAM. Would appreciate the help, thank you.

  • Please help me find a color profile for Samsung 2343bwx

    Hi Everyone,
Im just trying to get started in the graphical design field, I just bought a Samsung 2343BWX Lcd monitor (i know I know TN isnt the best for graphical design but im not rich), the color profile that came with the monitor is defective and displays everythign in a deep yellow tint, Ive tried using samsungs Natural Color Pro monitor profiling software but it results in a really ughly profile that is too dark and has a blueish tint to it.
Samsung's support isnt much help (no sprise there) and I cant afford a spyder or eye-one hardware calibration tool at this point.
Does anyone have or know where I can get a good color profile for this monitor? You have no idea how much I would appriciate it.
Thank you in advance for your help
    All The Best

    You have a few choices....
    1.  Use the generic monitor profile supplied with your monitor, the one that came with it when you bought it.  This will be generic, and will not account for drift, and probably won't be all that accurate.  But, at least it should be in the general ballpark since it represents a cross section of a grouping of similar monitors.
    2.  Try one of the presets that came with your monitor. I don't know what presets or controls are offered with this monitor, but I would shoot for a color temp between 5000K and 5500K, a 2.2 gamma, and a reasonably dim brightness setting.
    3.  Find someone who can do a hardware/software calibration, either a friend, or someone who will do it for a fee.  This will get it right once (if they know what they are doing), but will not account for drift over the long term.
    4.  Search online and see if you can find some visual calibration target and do it by eyeball.  This is usually not easy to do, and probably won't be satisfactory, but you can give it a try.
    5.  Buy a calibration package and do it yourself.  You should probably calibrate an LCD monitor at least monthly (I do mine weekly).  This is the best way to go, at least if you are serious about accurate color.  And this doesn't guarantee that your monitor and print will match.  For that, you need to calibrate your printer for each type of paper you use, or rely on generic printer profiles.  Then, you have to make sure you set everything up properly and utilize all your profiles properly.  Sorry, but this is all part of the price you have to pay if you want good color. The fee involves money for the proper tools, education on how to use them, and experience in applying them properly.

when go into 'help' it shows 'downloading firefox 3.6 11' this has ben like this for 2 days - is this normal?

On a broadband connection the download would normally take less than a minute. The software update process may have run into a problem, try the procedure in the "Software Update not working properly" at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update
You may have to manually reset the software update feature as shown in that article.

Personal rant, why do people write the entire problem in topic line
It's not possible with Windows Phone 8.  What's the point, a call is coming in and the phone allows you to answer.

...but you're correct in saying that they're not generally available. You have to know where to find them. Evidently, you don't...and obviously I didn't either, or I wouldn't have asked. But I think I know how to find out where they are now.

  • Can Samsung ATIV 32 bit OS, 1.80GHz, Windows 8 be networked for Remote access using Tier Medical software

I was able to successfully download and connect to my employer's Tier Software.  I  tried to run the TIER training module and received an error message with a code number and problem with Tier.exe.  When I contacted our system
administrator as directed by this error message I was told that my screen was not big enough because it was a tablet and the screen is 10.1 inches. New Hires are required to have a computer or a laptop that runs The Tier Medical software purchased at
our expense.  There is no Full -time computer administrator.  I would like to encourage the employer to consider a consultation with a Tier consultant or computer consultant and what the approximate cost would be.  This could resolve my problem
and at least 2 other health service professionals the expense of buying a new computer.  Please advise me about some alternative solutions if there are any.

  • Windows 8.1 on Samsung ATIV-SE

I am absolutely disgraced with Verizon Wireless. I just bought a new Windows Phone Samsung ATIV-SE. I assumed it would have the latest Operating System. I guess that is what Verizon counts on. Of course no one can even tell us when it will be available. Samsung and Microsoft support it. What's the deal? Roll it out already. I have five phones with VWZ and the other four are being switched out as soon as the contracts are up. VWZ should be ashamed of themselves.

People want usable, actionable advice.  My advice is: Get the cheapest wifi hotspot or tetherable phone you can get and carry around a Windows tablet.  As an IT professional, I see a trend for the USA to be behind other countries in technology in the name of "security".  We need to get used to the "brave new world" of available smart phones being behind the technology curve and find the best workaround as the new normal.  Smartphones will never be "in-synch" with the "one OS, many devices" model.  Expect the WP 8.1 rollout for your ATIV SE about the same time Windows 10 is released.
The rest of the world doesn't jump down on their carriers throat about things going wrong with their devices overseas just because we sign a 2 year agreement for our devices(other countries have contracts too).  I bet you being a software Engineer would understand... If you are getting blamed for things out of your control you'd want to test some things on your own correct?
Maybe we should move to a pay to play model.  If you want to update you pay for it.  Don't blame anyone else but the device manufacturer if things go wrong?  Maybe things will be updated faster.  I still believe manufacturers delay updates on their own because they have little incentive.  Now with them actually getting paid to update their devices maybe they'll work faster...  HTC and Motorola going transparent with their update process and taking ownership has shown... They can update on Verizon very quickly...  They also go on record saying they'll update their devices within 90 days from OS release.  The ones that don't take ownership and say "We already gave it to them" are the ones being delayed.  Something doesn't seem right to me?  Does it to you?

  • Where to request support for unsupported (so far) VM argument (pmoffscreen)

    hi,
i'm serving an app via web start, which has been great so far, but the app is very slow when viewed by a remote x-server. i found the VM argument pmoffscreen to be very useful for speeding up such response, but unfortunately i find that this VM argument is not supported for VMs started via web start. does anyone know why (buffer overflow issues or somesuch?), and where can i go to register desire for the support of this argument in web start VMs (if not here...)
    thanks!

    Hi Svet,
i have bought a Samsung 830 SSD for my gx660r notebook, but i realized that it is not recognized in the BIOS in AHCI mode.
The MSIHQ Flashing Tool says the following about my BIOS:
    Mainboard:  MS-16F1
PCB Version:  To be filled by O.E.M.
    BIOS Version: E16F1IMS VER3.0J
    BIOS Date:  28.03.2011
    EC-FW Version:
Could you provide me with a BIOS that works with my Samsung SSD?
    I already donated some bucks.
    Yep, check PM
    Quote
And can you give me a hint how i can rescue my system in case the update fails?
As far as i know, my notebook does not have m-flash (at least i've seen no reference to m-flash), is there another way to restore the backup bios in case something goes wrong?
Nope, in a case of bad flash there is no recovery.
Else if everything goes fine, you can restore original BIOS if you want to do this for some reason.
    Quote
BTW: Im using the latest version of the flashing tool, but it does not offer the mode 2 (where i can point to a single bios file).
To prevent using the wrong flasher[which can kill the notebook],
Tool automatically Disable Mode2 when notebook is detected.

Can you provide the modded bios as a zip/rar file so i can use it with mode1?
    Yes, ofc. Check PM

  • Review Samsung ATIV SE

I have the Samsung ATIV SE switching from an LG Android to Windows.  Really like this Windows Phone.  I can pin often used numbers to the Desktop and have on the Main Screen all applications that I often use.
The problem I have with the Samsung Phone is not Windows it's the hardware.  The Volume Button on the left of the cell phone is in the wrong position.  When picking up the phone I often accidently lower the volume without realizing this.  I receive calls but do not hear them because the volume is off or too low. This is my main complaint about the hardware.  Another item I'd like to see changed is the Power/Lock button which is to the right of the phone across from the Volume Button which is held too while picking up phone.  My previous LG phone had this button on the top which was nice but I can live with this button on the right.  Phone does not shut off that easily.

You're with Verizon and you are thinking of getting a Samsung ATIV SE? Don't!!  Verizon's track record for upgrades is not the best.  Their track record for doing Windows updates and upgrades is horrible.  Why do  an upgrade when you can go out and buy their next "Great" Windows phone with 8.1 already installed.  The Samsung ATIV SE is a good phone and has served me well for the last 5 months.  I have however given up on Verizon putting out the 8.1 update .  It ain't going to happen.  I think Verizon is doing Window phone users a great disservice by not following through and putting out the update.
Oh Please Verizon surprise me and put  out the update.  Restore my faith in Verizon.

  • RUMORED VERIZON GETTING LUMIA 920 and Samsung ATIV S

According to Phone Arena, one of their tipsters has informed them that Verizon will be carrying the Lumia 920, Samsung Ativ S, and the HTC 8X (which we already knew was confirmed).  Penciled in dates are in November.  Their source is unofficial, but has given them reliable information in the past, so they have reason to beleive it to be reliable.  Let's hope that it isn't someone with a sick sense of humor.....

    http://www.wpcentral.com/leak-roadmap-verizon-get-nokia-lumia-920-htc-8x-and-samsung-ativ-s

I sent an email to the Verizon Executive Assistant, or whatever her title is, that I spoke with a couple weeks ago.  I gave her links to the leaked information so that she can see what we know, so that if it is not true, Verizon can step on it.  It would not be wise for them to let the information stay out there without saying anything if it is untrue, and let customers expect it, only to be let down when device announcements are made.  I also included a link to this thread, and identified myself by my screenname.
For every customer that leaves, it costs between $400 and $600 in marketing and such to replace that customer, so it is in their best interest to keep their existing customers happy to minimize customer churn.  One of the ways to keep us happy is to give us the phones we want.  We want the #Nokia #Lumia920.
Verizon, are you listening?  Can you hear us now?
