Where is a rationale or orientation lesson for Lion

Having posted objections to Lion changes on this board, I do NOT want to be misunderstood in this question. My point here is NOT to object or fight the change but try to see if I can embrace the change.
For example, versions. It seems a lot of thought has gone into Versions by the engineers. From comments I read on it, the paradigm they have created is not obvious to all of us.
I can learn by trial and error. This risks a certain amount of error which might even add risk to my data.
If someone clever in user training would put together a training video which illustrates a goodly number of 'how-tos' many of us can learn pretty fast and not only learn the specific lessons given but extrapolate into similar things that obviously seem to follow from the first.
I've considered the demos given in WWDC and similar forums. They are not really good for this. They are design to knock our socks off by the sheer cleverness of what they've done.
I'm not sure that the things I'm asking for may not already exist online. Obviously third party contributions are welcomed. But how many times have I had a question on something on Mac OS X or othr Apple software and asked it here when someone points out there is a nice article posted by Applle on Apple.com that deals with the question.
Does anyone have any hints as how to find such nuggets of treasure on Apple's website or on third party sites? I'm not only asking about things for versioning but other new approaches to user interface and paradigms which Apple is bringing out here.

and make sure you have the 'Enabled' boxes checked for both 64 and 32-bit.
Finally, in
Safari > Preferences | Security
make sure the 'Enable Java' box is checked.

Previous OS X releases came with a DVD that included an "SDK" package to support normal unix software development (gcc, make and so on). Having just bought a new macbook pro with lion pre-installed, there's no DVD, no SDK. Does this exist anywhere?

If I toggle the button in the top right of the HUD it 'unlocks' and I can drag it to where I prefer -- at the left margin; (for over a decade) my dock has resided at the right margin so all my slider manipulation over countless editing sessions in Aperture has been ingrained to work at the left margin -- but, the vast majority of the time, the HUD overlaps the image I am editing in this 'unlocked' mode.
Every occasionally I enter Full Screen View and it positions on the left margin *without* superimposition...(!) My great joy is modulated into aggravation, however, should my tracking cursor drift all the way 'out of bounds' -- to call in the hidden pane of adjacent images sequenced in the library... This dramatically shrinks the Full Screen display and re-locks the HUD; if I toggle the switch to re-xpand the image it re-positions at the right margin!!!! I SOOoooooo wish I knew how to control the default 'locked' margin of the HUD in Full Screen View...

My daughter and I both have iphones. I created an account (not separate itunes) for her on my computer so she could sync her phone/itunes but not have it interfere with mine since we have WAY different taste in music. Creating a different computer profile should work if you have separate itunes accounts, too.
If you all use the same itunes account, you can turn on Home Sharing. That way you can all download the same content without having to pay for it again. Not sure how or if that works with separate itunes accounts.

In moving from XP to Windows 7, I opted for Thunderbird as email client in order to bypass Microsoft's hyper-intrusive Windows Live Mail (I used Outlook Express for years).
I have a very complicated email structure, and it's taken me weeks (seriously) to learn how to replicate it in TBird. Now I'm trying to customize TBird further, but none of the TBird articles/forum Q&A's/Google searches address my questions.
There is no live tech support for TBird, and I'm just about ready to leave it for good. However -- one last effort: where can I find detailed, systematic HELP for advanced topics relating to Thunderbird?

I am no expert, but I don't know of any authoritative reference as to what elements of HTML and CSS are supported in Thunderbird. However, as I believe you appreciate, it's more than just what Thunderbird supports, but one must also think about what is likely to work in other email clients. Keep it simple. Avoid ancient deprecated tags that other email clients may not support, and for similar reasons, avoid cutting edge technology. Remember that recipients using tablets or smartphones won't appreciate large fancy email documents.
The only thing ''guaranteed'' to work in email is plain text. ;-)
If you haven't already discovered it, the Stationery add-on is designed specifically to support OE stationery in Thunderbird. Your existing stationery may "just work" in this add-on. It makes switching between various stationery templates much easier, but I'm not confident that it will affect interpretation of your CSS or HTML coding.
Your code is at least clean and minimal. Most times my involvement with troublesome templates and signatures centres on the horrible bloat and mso custom code generated by Word or Outlook.
Having said that, you and I are mortal enemies, as I don't have much patience with what you aspire to achieve. I specifically don't like background images, nor being obliged to suffer other folks' bizarre choice of typefaces and colours (but your simple 12pt black Tahoma is quite inoffensive. ;-) ) I'm of an age where my tolerance and eyesight are easily offended.
Nonetheless, I'm intrigued by how to parse the tag for the background image, as it doesn't look like a legitimate pathname to a graphics file. Does the background image actually appear as required?

I have just ordered a new iPhone 5 from the apple website and it comes as an unlocked phone. Therefore I need to buy a new 'nano sim' to fit the new phone.
Does anyone know where and how I go about doing this?
I've seen that vodaphone have apparently got 500,000 of these new Nano sims in stock, but are they only for people who have bought the phone through them?
Do you know any other networks or providers that are selling the nano sim, even if you haven't purchased the phone from them?
Any advice or tips would be much appreiciated.

Which is why in the UK it is not really worth purchasing an iPhone directly from Apple - it's a no brainer. You should always purchase through the phone companies themselves and you'll get a much better deal always.
I have been with 02 on a contract since I had my first iPhone and have always upgraded for less than half the cost of the iPhone directly from Apple.
I really don't understand why someone would want to spend at least £525 to £600 on a phone from Apple when you could get it for less than half the cost with the UK phone companies, unless of course money is no object!

I dont have any connection - I found their eBook in the store long ago and used it to learn more about iBA.
The best advice though, is be patient, go back over the process step by step, I cannot access the Help files for some reason.. but i am sure its in their.

where can I change the font settings for the name of the month in iPhoto's calendar project? I just ordered two copies of a calendar I designed in iPhoto and was surprised to find that the calendar's months were printing in something like an Arial 10 pt font. On previous calendars I've printer via iPhoto and Apple, the font was much larger. I've tried every menu option in iPhoto and the Calendar Project program and can't find where this is modifyable. Which leads me to ask, what the heck happened here in the first place? I did not consciously change the default.
I do remember that I got some notice when I first tried to print the calendar about the default font having been changed, but I don't know how this could have happened, and I didn't know what impact that had on the calendar until it was delivered. I typically print about a dozen annual calendars but won't buy another until I've got a handle on this problem. For the most part, the rest of the calendar is okay.
As a P.S. is there anywhere where one can get a power user's manual, or instruction on iPhoto?

"Maximum" and "12" usually refer to compression (influencing image quality and jpeg file size in bytes); and as Curt wrote, dpi is meaningless for display by and viewing in web browsers. (It could be a different matter if you are uploading the jpeg files for someone to download from the web to print.)
What are the sequence of steps that you and your batch processing take from Bridge?
You can use call Photoshop's Image Processor from Bridge to create the jpeg files (Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor). In the Image Processor you can set jpeg compression, pixel dimensions if desired, also convert to sRGB (good idea for web display). In my experience the image processor leaves unchanged whatever dpi is set in the source file; or, if none there as might be for a pdf, it will set the dpi value in your New Document Preset Print Resolution (from your Photoshop Units & Rulers preferences).
