Where is a spell checker in english

where is the spell checker in pages? and keynote

Nothing to do with Pages as such.  Turn it on in settings > general > keyboard.  Language follows the keyboard being used.

How can I adjust my Pages spell checker for English as opposed to American English?

Use the Inspector palette > T tab > Tabs. You can write the fraction number. Clicking on the arrow button has 1 cm increments which isn'r helpful for us using centimetres instead of inches.

  • Spell check in english in pages doesn't work

I've recently purchased Pages for my imac.  The spell check is still recognising the American spellings rather than English e.g.  recognize rather than recoginse and color rather than colour.  I have opened the Inspector>Text>More and checked that the language says British English but it still picks up on American Spellings.  My language is set to British English within the settings on the computer.  What else can I try or is it a glitch in Pages?

You have to set the system preferences to British English. For americans  American english is English!!!!
System preferences > Language and text > Language > Edit list > check British English > Ok. Make sure that B.E. is at the top of the list if you have more than one language there.
Log out and in again in your account. Open Pages and check that the default language is B.E.

  • Switch iPad to spell check uk english for crying out loud

Started with simple document created on iPad2 using Pages 1.6 (504) - noticed spell check default is US English (eg summarize) but I need UK English.
Went through all the settings in iOS Pages to try to switch - no luck.
Went to my iMac, Safari, iCloud, pulled down document, (incidentally noticed it had a problem with missing font despite fact that I'm using defaults throughout), opened in Pages '09 v4.1 (923) selected all, went to inspector, changed to UK English, saved.
Uploaded document to iCloud/iWork - selected 'replace' when given option.
Went back to iPad. Noticed Pages documents had not refreshed. Shut down iPad. Re-started. Selected document, opened, and magically it had reverted to US spelling. Also now has a problem with missing font Calibri - in fact I don't give a tinker's cuss which font it uses, I simply want it to spell in vernacular.
Repeat all of above. Confirmed document when opened on iMac had indeed kept UK spelling, ie problem has something to do with iPad settings.
All-in-all wasted an hour. So much for iCloud/iWork. iGiveUp.
    Any ideas?

You can make it clear by holding down the "globe" key and choosing what you want from the list.  Or how about deleting the keyboard which does not say English (UK).
Spellcheck normally follows the keyboard on iOS devices and what app you are using is irrelevant.

How do I change the language from American to English?

Please do not label me as someone who has someone who is nostalgic for Empire. It is just impolite.
Then direct your ire at dalstott for labelling some languages as imperfect, misspelled, mispronounced, untrue/false.
I am only wanting to be recognised as English because I was born and live in England and do not want to have my language "English" redefined.
You just want "English" to be your English and you want it on top, where it belongs. Isn't that right? The fact that the MacOS X spelling system actually doesn't have any plain "English" setting is apparently irrelevant. Each dialect is labeled as "Australian", "British", "Canadian", and "U.S.".
You may label you own version using whatever label you care to use.
I do and I (and the MacOS X spelling panel) call it "Canadian English".

where is my spell check on my computer?
Im new to apple and I cant really get the full effect of it to I learn it please help

You don't have a Classic operating system, if you have a Mac Pro.  Classic operating systems went extinct in 2006.    Depending on your application the spell check is built-in.      What program are you using?  What operating system are you using?

  • Spell Check Text in Spanish in Acrobat Pro 9

I can only spell check in English and I work in various languages. I went to File > Properties > Advanced > Reading, changed it to Spanish
Then Edit > Check Spelling > In Fields editable text, comments  then when it opens it does not show Editable Text.
How do I set my text to Editable Text. I have searched and have not found the solution. There are documents that I have created myself. Thanks for the help ...

Figured out the solution: Go to Edit > Preferences > Spelling > Check the languages you wish to use and move them up to the top. Make sure the language you wish to use in a particular document is at the very top since it seems the Adobe is not intuitive. . I guess it will not check multiple language in the same pdf document.

  • Spell Checking occasionally works with Pages 3.03 update

I have been experiencing problems with spell checking since the most recent iWork update. If I save an old document as a new file, spell checking for modifications doesn't work. If I create a document from scratch, spell checking works until I paste text from other sources. This is a very strange problem.
I have searched the support forums and have seen many solutions that seem to work for others, but most seem to relate to have multiple Spell Checkers installed or having corrupt preference files. That is not my situation. I would appreciate any insight on this issue.

I have found that my spelling is set to Swedish as default. If I use English in my document, have all styling in set to English spelling check, i still get pasted text to Swedish. I have to select the new text and use the styles or in the Inspector tell it to be spell checked in English. I guess it has to do with which language I use for the System.

  • How to default the spell checker to Britain?

when I set language in pages to spell check in English Britain and close a document and re-open another blank document the spell checker reverts back to the English setting(US). Is there a way to save the changes I make in inspector so that I can set to a default setting of Britain?.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Go to System Preferences > International > Language & drag British English to the top. You may need to log out & back in for it to take effect.

    Hi,
As the log, MSGR2CZ.DLL and wwlib.dll were both of the Microsoft libraries, not the third-party libraries. Thus, we need to analysis what happened with the dump file. But, it is beyond what we can do in the forum. I recommend you open a ticket with Microsoft
    engineer.

  • Internet Explorer 11 on 2012 R2 as RemoteApp - buggy spell checker

    Hi all.
Please read carefully if you are willing to reproduce this problem.
On Server 2012 R2, I can start a full RDP session, start IE and spell checking works without Problems. I can Switch between languages (english and german), all is good.
However, If I start Internet Explorer as a remoteApp, which is the way we want to use it, I cannot Switch between languages. Instead, when I rightclick a reddish underlined (incorrectly spelled) english word, and try to set the spell checker to english,
the remote language chooser starts, but using it has no effect at all because I cannot save the changes. The remoteApp still only offers german as correction language.
This was reproducible on a perfectly clean test System as well. This used to work on remoteApp-IE11 on Server 2008 R2, by the way.
...The results? See for yourself: in this text, auto-correction has capitalized several words against my will... :(

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Please try to download and install Spelling dictionaries for Internet Explorer 11 and check the result.

  • Non - American English Language Mail Spell Check?

I am curious, is there a way to set up spell check in Mail so that it corrects for Canadian English instead of US English? Pages, does this - and in fact for numerous languages - nicely, but I haven't seen where one can do this in the Mail app. You know, odd items like "travelling" vs "traveling" or "colour" vs. "color". That sort of thing. Our British friends must have encountered similar issues, come to think of it. What do you all do?
    Thanks,
    john

Spot on, Tom! Good that you mentioned the 2 parts to the solution, because when I only changed the spelling in Prefs/Language, etc. nothing took place. I needed to also go to Edit/Spelling etc. as you point out. Also, I shut down and re-booted to enable everything.
    Thanks kindly,
    john
