Why have I lost Adobe Acrobat when it has been on my PC for four years?

Now what exactly do you mean? You did not provide any system information nor do we know what versions of the programs. Also, what program exactly - Reader or Acrobat?

I was looking for the same thing. I'm running Win 7 64 bit OS but I'm using firefox 32 bit because most of the plugings I used are not 64 bit. One I need to find is the 64 bit win 7 adobe reader and flash plugin if you have it.

Where are adobe reader log files?

Where are the log files for Adobe Reader?
When one of our clients opens a form off our liquid office server we receive an error. If possible I would like to find a log file that might give some sort of clue as to why this is happening. Thanks

I'll make an inquiry about that and if we have to contact liquid office at some point my guess is they may request that we do that if there is likely to be any useful information there. It is likely going to be pretty difficult as we have lots of clients opening forms constantly throughout the day.
I did find adobearm log file and also adobereaerbroker log file in the temp files on my own. So it does seem like reader logs some of it's activities. I haven't examined them completely yet but a quick comparison between a working machine opening our problem form and the one the computer that doesn't open it properly seems to show no obvious differences. They both seem to show problems with access denied and registry entries. However one works and the other doesn't even with the same issues in the log.

Where is Adobe Reader 10

Having downloaded Firefox 3.6.15 I was advised to download the latest Adobe Reader 10. I have done that bu can not find it anywhere

You need to install Reader 10 after downloading it. Adobe has to install a plugin for Firefox and it can't do that while Firefox is running.
Tools > Downloads - then right-click the Reader setup download in the Downloads window and select '''Open Containing Folder'''.
While keeping that Containing Folder open, close Firefox. Then double-click the Reader setup to start the installation.

Maybe I lack understanding in Mac environment, but I downloaded (and tought I had installed) Adobe Reader and Firefox, but can<t find anything else than rhw .dmg files (instead of the normal icons for the installed programs) on the desktop.
How ca I get a program that will 1) install permanbtly, 20 will leave me with a nice icon and simple name on desktop (instead of <<Firefox 2.0.0.2.fmg>>, and 3) will appear in my applications list as a permanent program instead of something that seems to istall from scratch every time I double-click on iyt ??...

welcome to the apple discussions!
when you download an application, it usually gives you a .dmg or disk image. double click on the disk image and it will mount it. click on the mounted image and in it is the downloaded application or installer. when it is finished installing the application will be in the application folder. Sometimes the disk image will have the app itself and you can drag that to the applications folder. (double-click macintosh HD on the desktop, and on the sidebar will be the application folder.)

Where's Adobe Reader

I have a strange problem. No matter how many times I install Adobe Reader, I simply cannot find the application. Can anyone clue me in to what's going on here? Thanks.

Well, I run through the basic download method. Downloader Manager Installer comes up, tells me it's installing. I see the progress bar showing the download. I get a screen telling me the software has been successfully installed. But when I look for it? Nothing. Any ideas?

How to set a form field in pro so an 'adobe reader' user can insert a jpg (not a pdf) as an image. It used to work but now doesn't.

I think this question has been asked a million times before but I'm hoping something has been resolved now! It did work for me and my client a few months ago (by using the 'event.target.buttonImportIcon();' script. I'm 99% certain it worked fine a few months ago, where the adobe reader user could select a jpg to insert...but now it only allows a pdf. Does anyone know if anything can be done? I know you may say LiveCycle but is there really nothing else?

There's nothing to solve. If Reader (XI only) is used only PDF files can be selected. This is how it's supposed to work (although I agree it's silly and should be changed).

Your reply would have been helpful, if you had told me, what it took me another +/- 30 mins to find out, that the link was in V10.
You can now help me by advising why was it removed and what alternate feature V11 uses to achieve the same purpose?

Disable "Save a copy" in Adobe Reader

Can anyone suggest me of disabling the "Save a copy" menu item...

I have a scenario where a Adobe Reader PDF file consists of a blank page with a signature...
Now few users in a group must have the privilege of "Save a copy" option and few others in the same group must not have the privilege to do so.
Is there any approach to achieve this , if not with disabling "Save a copy" button.....

Inconsistencies Printing pdf's in preview and adobe reader

Hey, we have been having a lot of trouble recently printing pdf's, the quality varies depending on the app we print with.
Preview seems to give the best results where as Adobe Reader seems to make text pixelated as tho there is no anti-aliasing going on.
We would switch to using Preview only in some cases we are finding it dos not display the pdf's correctly e.g. there are random lines draw round text and things like that!
Any help would be great, we are using an OKI C5600 if that is any help.

Select a PDF file in a Finder window and click the More Info button; the pop-up information will let you specify the app it should be opened with, and allow you to click "change all" to use the same app for other files of the same type.

The graph you cited shows this years' sales fugures and not the actual number of WM6.x users.
I understand that some platforms (like WM2003) are out of date and support had to be stopped, but top-of-the range WM 6 units were on sale some months ago and Adobe should keep on supporting these users for at least 2-3 years.

ADOBE READER doesn't respond (Highlighting Tool)

I like making use of the highlighting tool in a pdf that can be highlighted and I like to change the colors as I would if I were using this as a book to help me study.
When I highlight and click properties to change the color....I go through a lengthy process where first ADOBE READER doesn't respond.
Then to add to my 4-7 minute wait the entire screen turns a faded white and I see that blue circle rotating around as a cursor.
When the program decides to advance it leads me to "Highlight Properties" window which sometimes works but as of lately doesn't.
This entire process is very painful. To a Dad who likes watching UFC and ACTION/VOLENT MOVIES, the pain is comparable to watching "My Little Pony" or "One Direction" videos or being forced to watch a "chick flick marathon" on Father's Day! No offense to any of those who may partake in that sort of thing.
Can someone please help me before I take this program out of machine for a replacement?

Having just read your inquiry (I don't work for Adobe, but have used Reader and several other products) by any chance is the document you're trying to work with one that was created as a PDF from a scanned document? If what you're currently looking at was created from a scanned document, then Adobe can't "read it" in that format, as it views it as though it were an "image". Get it? And it can't highlight images, as it doesn't recognize the text. (If this isn't the case, sorry, but I can't help. I purchased a program called Nitro Pro, rather than purchasing Adobe Acrobat, and it lets me create and edit PDF's. You might want to have a look at it.) I logged on here today to view a document I'd uploaded some time ago (prior to purchasing the 3rd party PDF program and just happened to see your question. I was trying to use this online version to convert a scanned document into a Word document, as long as I was here, but it appears that THIS site along with its features, are very limited. I can store PDF's that are already created, but without purchasing, not much more can be done, other than adding text to an already PDF, or highlighting, which you've had problems with.) Don't know what browser you're using, but in Chrome, they have free extensions, including highlighters, that will let you do what you're asking about on any web page. You just download the browser extension through Google Play Store, and go to it.

Deploying Adobe reader plugin not working

I have an adobe reader plugin that works on my development machine. It displayes the toolbar in the "Extended" tab. I copied the .api file onto the plugins folder on another machine but the extended tab does not display. I also copied this onto the plugins folder just to test and this works.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is there some place where it(adobe reader) logs errors?.

One of the limitations of plug-ins (in many apps) is that they tend to have to be developed in the same language as the host. Otherwise the cost of converting linkages makes plug-in performance unacceptable; similar to the reason 32-bit apps have 32-bit plug-ins and 64-bit apps have 64-bit plug-ins. Acrobat is written in C/C++, hence so are plug-ins. If Acrobat was ever written in C# (unlikely while it is also on Mac), then no doubt all the plug-ins in existence would need to be rewritten in C#.
Personally, having developed many and very large Acrobat plug-ins, I don't see that C# would be an advantage. Of course what is popular and what is marketed to developers is not always what is the most practical.

Specify author name for annotations when opening Adobe Reader

I need to specify the author name (for annotations) programatically each time I open Adobe Reader from my application. Is that possible and if yes, how ?
Here is how I open Adobe Reader in my application :

The application I'm developping needs to be able to allow its users to open existing pdf files and annotate them with the username they've given when logging into the application. Unfortunately, I've not found any satisfying library to edit existing pdf files on Android nor in AIR for Android. I'm thus trying to call Adobe Reader from my application (this I can do) and set the author name for annotations...
I've found that Adobe Reader stores the author name in /data/data/com.adobe.reader/shared_prefs/com.adobe.reader.preferences.xml
Knowing that my application will run on rooted Android tabs, do you think it would be posssible to modify this file each time before launching Adobe Reader from my application (could be a dirty workaround but still a workaround) ?

Adobe Reader disabled part of the audio in a Livescribe pdf

I was reading a Livescribe pdf and listening to the embedded audio. I pressed the go back button several times and it diabled the audio in the mid patrt of the page. I do not how to re-enable it. Any ideas? Technical support was no help. Wanted $39.00 to even talk to me. Adobe reader should NOT be able to disable audio in a pdf file. It doesn't have editing capability yet it did. Green is enabled audio. Black is disabled
I reloaded the orginal file from the CD and the same proble exits. Tried downloading new version of Adobe X, same problem. New computer profile, same problem.
Where does Adobe reader store the information whether or not a portion of the file in enabled? Anyone know? Can it be deleted? Here is the screen shot: I am hoping the developers take a look at this and see that Reader CAN disable content.

Just to say I am having exactly the same issue on my MacBook Air. I can't remember what I did but after this happened a few times, and once I had clicked on the Japanese pop up, I managed to do something that now means I get the pop up in English, saying 'Adobe Reader blocked for this website'. When I click on it it asks me to trust the content and then I get a bar with the text in Japanese. Eventually the pdf does open. However it's very irritating that I have to trust every pdf individually which I never had to do before the latest upgrade, and I don't understand why I get messages in Japanese. I will be interested to see whatever answers other more technical people may provide!
