Where is bookmark storage

I recently installed firefox as a backup backup browser to Safari (5.1) and when I imported my bookmarks it only imported a ragtag set. I noticed it is the same set that shows up when I click bookmarks on the menu bar. Usually I get to bookmarks by clicking the icon on the toolbar. That gets me the set I would get by clicking show all bookmarks in the bookmark dropdown menu. That has gotten me to wondering where the bookmarks are stored, and the best way to have a complete set accessible from Firefox or Chrome (Chrome did a better job of importing, but it would be nice to keep all in synch.)
Thanks for suggestions.

For Safari, ~/Library/Safari. What you want is the Bookmarks.plist file from the Safari folder.
~ (Tilde) represents the Home folder.
For LIon:   To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

Manually delete applications you drag-installed and use a provided uninstaller or software such as AppZapper for others.

  • Where is "bookmark this tab" feature in ff4 and ff5? Why is it removed?

Where is "bookmark this tab" feature in ff4 and ff5? Why is it removed?
Usually the goal is to improve the software, not to reduce its helpful features.
    This is really disappointing...

Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).<br />
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or Alt+B to open the Bookmarks menu and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.
    * "Bookmark All Tabs" (Shift+Ctrl+D) no longer shows in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
    * "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of that browser page.
    * "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.

  • I want to be able to dictate where my bookmark is saved

I absolutely preferred to decide where a bookmark was going to be saved! Now it will only allow me to save it where it wants to? I have no issues changing which browser I use. I will change if I can't do simple little things as decide where my bookmark page will be saved.

The various bookmark-related icons were consolidated. The star that turns blue works the same as the old star in the address bar that turned yellow: it instantly saves the current URL to the Unsorted Bookmarks folder.
To call up the dialog where you choose a folder, you can use one of these other methods:
    * Ctrl+d
    * right-click the page (avoid links, form fields, images) > Bookmark This Page
    * use the classic menu bar > Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page
If you prefer a toolbar button that works like the old Bookmarks drop-down menu, I think you would need an add-on to modify it.

  • I want to import my bookmarks from my old hard drive to my new computer. Old hard drive is in new computer as secondary drive, can't run firefox from it. Would like to find the file where my bookmarks are stored

have looked in the old hard drive for the file where my favorites would be stored. the only file that I can find is not the latest. I did not back up my favorites on the old computer.

Bookmarks are no longer stored in an html file. Instead, they are stored in a file called '''places.sqlite''' in your '''Profile''' folder.
    # Locate the '''places.sqlite''' file in your old hard drive.
    # Copy it into the '''Profile''' folder of your new hard drive.
    # Note that since you would be overwriting the places.sqlite in your new drive, your current bookmarks/history etc would be overwritten by the ones in the old drive.

  • How do I find where a bookmark is in my folder tree?

I use the bookmarks menu a lot, and I have created many folders to organize them. But when I use the search function, all I see are the pages I have saved, NOT where they are in the folder tree.
Sometimes I wan to reorganize the pages differently, but I don't know where they are!

  • Where are bookmarks and bookmarks toolbar saved?

I lost part of my hard disk and have to recreate it from a backup. I have reinstalled Firefox but need to get the Bookmarks and Bookmarks Toolbar from my backup. If I know where they are stored I can copy them across to the new version.
Could someone advise in what folders they are stored? And any other files I may need to bring across? I'm using v5
    Bob

Wow, thanks very much, cor-el!! I didn't know that feature existed. The only thing I didn't see restored were the unsorted Bookmarks. However thy were among the least important. I got back 280 plus folders and their Bookmarks.
Now, what about the last/second question, pasted here:
Then, whether recovered or not, how do I create separate instances of Firefox, that do not share any files? I don’t mind if the add-ons/extensions, and scripts are duplicated, but I can do that separately.
Also, “firefox.exe –p”, which worked previously, now will not work. The error message is:
"Windows cannot find ‘firefox.exe’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
    Thanks again,
    Steve

  • Where-used for Storage location

    Dear all,
I have to delete a Storage location SL01 from system. Before I doing so, i need to perform below:
    1. I have to check SL01 is being used in what document. Can you advise what are tools that avaialble for me to perform where-used for SL01?
    2. If there are documents created and some of them are still open, do you advise to delete SL01?
    Please comment.

    Hi,
Storage location comes into picture when you post a goods movement either a GR or GI.
For this reason,When you create a Purchasing document a Po for example, it is not mandatory to define a storage location and the storage location defined at Po level canbe changed at GR level.
So, before deleting the storage location you need to check whether there is available stock in the location.
You can use the MB52 warehouse report to check the s.location stock .
    Hope it hepls.

  • Where Is Local Storage In Windows 8??

So i Have Revel App On My Windows 8 PC,
it stopped syncing because ive apparenly ran out of local storage space,
but i dont know where this folder is??? its not im my pictures
also is there a way via win 8 to stop it syncing to local and only sync to the cloud

Are you out of space on the computer or out of uploads in Revel? Revel does not save full sized copies of the photos on each device, but rather saves them in the cloud to avoid filling up your device. For this reason I am skeptical that Revel is the issue if your PC hard drive is full.  Is it possible you have many programs, music ,documents,  photos or videos that have filled up the disk?
Are you getting an error message from Revel? Are you a premium user? If not, you may have reached your upload limit of 50 uploads per month on a free account.

  • Where is Bookmark Menu

Just loaded IOS7 on ipad. I found the Bookmark Bar entries but how do I navigate to the bookmarked Bookmark Menu entries? Thanks.

never mind, I found it. Shouldn't do this so early in am. Bookmark menu is in among entries accessed by little book icon in upper right corner (duh), whereas bookmark bar entries are accessed by the "+" in the upper right corner (less intuitive icon?).

  • How can one find where a bookmark is located?

As briefly as I can: in Opera 12.16 there was a very useful way of managing bookmarks. When you issued a query in the "search" bar, you not only got the exact references to the bookmark you were looking for, but also WHERE in the "bookmarks" file it was located. For example: if you had a "DuckDuckGo" bookmark in a "Search Engines" folder, after querying for (e.g.) "DuckD" you received both a pointer to the DuckDuckGo bookmark, AND one to its actual location in its proper folder.
In Firefox, instead, if you issue a query in the "search" bar, you receive a chaotic and unordered list of "names", with no reference whatsoever to where every name points to: no folders, no subfolders, nothing.
Which is very disheartening for a user, like this writer, who has accumulated a HUGE number of bookmarks (some of which go back even to 1998, the year of the beginning of my "Internet" age).
Now I ask: is there any way to have Firefox's bookmark management work like the one of the old, "pre-Chromeization" Opera 12.16? If such a way doesn't exist yet, wouldn't it be the time to include it in a future release of the Fox?
    Thank you in advance :)
    Harken

    Thank you very much, the-edmeister.
Well: when you say «I doubt if it will be added by Mozilla at this late date», I must admit I more or less suspected it ;) (or, in other words, my previous question was all in all just a "''ballon d'essai''", to see if there was any possibility in that direction.)
Anyway, let me add that it's a pity we have, as usual, to resort to - ''hear ye, hear ye! '' - '''yet another add-on''' [1], for a function which is patently so fundamental (in the bookmarks management) that it would deserve to be included already in the original code.
I LOVE Firefox (which keeps on reminding me of my "first love", Netscape Navigator): to the point that, just recently, I've had a harsh exchange in a forum with a fellow who, as it has become more or less custom nowadays, was complaining that "Firefox has become SO HEAVY and SO BLOATED in its latest releases" (and the obvious subtext was: "while, on the contrary, Chrome... blah blah blah".) My objection has been
    * that, first of all, Chrome HASN'T GOT ANY BOOKMARK MANAGEMENT (at least, not one deserving any mention), as opposed to the Fox, which has one (my exact words) that is definitely SUBLIME (and it's true: second only to that of Opera 12.16, which is the ONLY reason why I still maintain the old-style Opera up and working, despite the fact that it clearly begins to show its age); and
    * moreover, that with Firefox, in that precise instant, I was being able to keep '''750 tabs contemporarily opened''' (due to the fact that Firefox lets you decide whether you want the tabs to load as soon as you open them after a link, or not: a possibility which Chrome and its derivatives don't have); where, on the contrary, at least in my experience, already with 100-150 tabs Chromium and its derivatives begin to show clear signs of "''insanity''" =D
Too bad, however, that the SUBLIME quality of our bookmark management system is slightly "spoiled" by this kind of - I dare to define them - "''coding superficialities''" (or, which is the same, "''design superficialities''").
Thank you for your kind answer (and for your suggestion: yes, I had already searched through the add-ons repositories... but I missed those two extensions)...
    Peace :)
P.S.: [1] an add-on which, incidentally, happens to work PERFECTLY!!
