Where is Discoverer Desktop installation disks?

I already have Oracle Application Server 10g installed on Windows and have been using Oracle Portal. Now I want to explore Oracle Discoverer. I see no Windows Start menu item for Discoverer Desktop nor Admin. My Start Menu folder named Discoverer only has 2 shortcuts: [Edit Preferences] and [Apply Preferences].
I have searched oracle.com, but cannot find a download for Oracle Discoverer Desktop nor Admin.
Where do I find these tools?

Hi,
It should be the following:
http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/ias/101202/as_windows_x86_bi_tools_101202.zip
The Oracle Discoverer Desktop and Oracle Discoverer Administrator are included in a product known as:
Oracle BI Tools
and they are available only to Windows platform...., at least till 10g version....
Greetings...

You can install Discoverer using XP SP2 compatibility mode. Right click the install.exe file and go to the compatibility tab. You should be able to get it from there.
    Setup should proceed as normal. You may, however, get an error when trying to login to Discoverer. I am still confounded with this error;
Failed to connect to database - ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION.
Since Discoverer is not certified with Windows 7, good luck trying to find a solution. I have been working on the problem for days now without any luck.

  • Discoverer Desktop installation

    Hi all,
I have to install Discoverer Desktop and Administrator on windows machine and 9i AS is on linux server.
To install these do i need to have Discoverer as part of 9i DS or can i directly install them if so should I install Administrator first or Desktop ?
Do i need to make any changes to the Registry ?
Should i stop all Oracle services before installing them ?
    ThankYou

Please post to the Discoverer forum:

  • Discoverer desktop installation on Windows 7 64 OS XP Mode TNS error

I have installed discoverer administrator and desktop in XP Mode on a Windows 7 64 OS. I downloaded the install from Oracle Discoverer 11g Fusion Middleware. I am using XP mode because I believe there is no download for the 64 bit OS in the Windows environment. I have had no trouble with the installation. The trouble comes when trying to connect to a database. I get a TNS error.
I have edited the environmental variable to include tns names. I am able to connect to a database on the network via sql developer but not with discoverer.
One needs to run the xp application within the Windows 7 environment. I have included the environmental variable in both environments (xp virtual and Windows 7) and am 0% successful with discoverer and 100% successful with sql in seeing the database.
    Any technical advice?

I am indebted to Praveen Deshpande for this :
You need to create a Windows environment variable TNS_ADMIN that points to the directory where the correct Tnsnames.ora file is held.
On my system, I went to 'Computer - System Properties - Advanced - Environment Variables", created an environment variable TNS_ADMIN and set its value to C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\network\ADMIN
Check where your server or other tnsnames file is stored and set the corresponding value.
    Then it all worked perfectly.

    Are you kidding me?
If you want to install an own Windows XP then you have to buy it.
You can use an original Microsoft Windows XP CD for such installation.
On the Toshiba European driver page you can find some Windows XO drivers for some U400 notebook models.

I want to run Apple Hardware Text but can't find it on any CD's.  I bought my iMac in 2009.  It came with 10.4.  Apple Hardware Test is not on the installation disk.  Should I have it?  Where can I find it?  I"m now running 10.7.4.

    The disc plainly state:
To  use the AHT, hold down the D key as the computer starts up.
Works here. However, there was an issue with installing Lion that screwed this process up.
Mount disc 2, run this command in the Terminal app, OPTION-click & hold Finder's Dock icon, and select RELAUNCH:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1
    That unhides all hidden files/folders.
Now, drill down to /"Applications Install\ Disc"/System/Library/CoreServices/ and drag the .diagnostics folder into your Lion boot volume's /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder. That might require you to authenticate to copy the folder into the CoreServices subfolder.
Run this command to hide the normally hidden files/folders and RELAUNCH the Finder again.
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 0
This should allow the machine to boot into AHT when restarting and holding down the D key.
If that doesn't do the trick, run this command in the Terminal app:
    sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/CoreServices/.diagnostics
At the Password: prompt, carefully type in your admin password, since nothing shows up on the screen, and hit the return key. Then, try another restart, holding down the D key.

I have lost my installation disk for my mac book pro running Snow Leopard 10.6." Where can I replace it?"

You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.

i need to use an hp 6215 printer with my mac book pro.  the driver installation disk doesn't work.  where can i get a driver that will work?

With the Lion it is essentially unnecessary to resort to external driver disks. What's more, most of those disks are incompatible with the OS and should not be used. The system already carries a wide variety of printer description files (aka PPDs, which is what modern printing systems use as "drivers") for a lot of brands. And there was an HP printer update just two days ago.
Just checked in mine and did indeed find that the HP OfficeJet 6200 Series, with or without Fax, is covered with the latest update.
So just go thru the motions of creating a proper printer instance:
Make sure the Mac "sees" the printer on the network.
System Preferences / Print & Scan
Click on the + button on the left column
Select the appropriate type of printer, will use IP for the rest of this
Select HP Jetdirect - Socket, default for HP network printers
Type the IP address or look it up
Name the printer for easy identification on the print dialog
Let the Mac identify the printer model or manually choose the driver
    Click Add.
Once the instance pops up in the list, can click on Options & Supplies for further config.

  • Bootcamp: installer disk could not be found - but MAC desktop can see it

    Hi,
I have an iMac intel - 17" 1.83 GHz that I put together from a box of junk. Mechanic friend took it all apart, don't ask. Installed a new hard drive of 1 terrabyte. The internal optical drive does not work so we got a new Iomega optical drive that works just great.
We want to run Windows XP Pro on this iMac - and after updating all of the software in Mac (OS 10.5.8), and running Bootcamp set up assistant, partitioned the drive to 500 GB MAC; 500 GB PC, got this error message saying that the Windows XP installer disk could not be found.
The disk appears on the desktop. I can click on it and see all of the pc files in it. I clicked on a couple of the files and got a simple text document of gibberish. But the set up assistant in Bootcamp still doesn't recognize the disk. So I have been unable to install Windows.
The disk itself is a burned copy from my university that gave me a full license for Windows XP Pro, SP 3. It's 32 bit. And it shows up as an install disk when I pop it into a PC.
I've run Disk Warrior and Disk Utilities to repair permissions and to check that the new hard drive is ok...and it's all set.
I wonder if this is because of the external dvd drive that I'm using. I can use my Macbook Pro and get the imac into target mode. But don't know if this will have me continue to bark up this tree.
Has anyone had success with the same kind of problem that I'm not facing? Thanks much in advance.
    Sheila

I too got a version of Windows 7 64 Professional from the the Microsoft Software Distribution Network through Uni. I burnt the iso file on a PC to a DVD with power ISO and then tried to use it as the install disk. After some umming and arrhhing Mac OS X recognised it, the installer started, allowed to select language etc, then suddenly a box appears announcing that a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing.
I have rang up apple support and they are pretty much saying it is a disc quality issue, but I have checked all the disc drive regimes and permissions and they all seem to be fine. I have also done it with multiple brands and a number of times, everytime the same message returned. All the latest firmware has been downloaded. One thing that was briefly mentioned by the guy at Apple support was that there was the possibility that it may be the "logic board". So the previous poster may be right. They said this was unlikely, but everything is possible. The drive works for everything in the OS X side though, so has pretty much stumped me and the Apple support people. I think the only option is to take it to an Apple shop and let them see it for themselves, not really an option for me as I need the Mac Book to write my dissertation, due in about three weeks so can't afford to lose it.
Sorry if I have slightly "jacked" the thread, but the issue sounded pretty close to mine. Any resolution or insight into what might be the issue would be amazing.
    Regards,
    Duncan

  • Where do I go to buy new Mac OS X Installation disks?

Our beautiful little Labrador Retriever helped herself to my Mac OS X Installation disks (and my credit card, driver's license, and wallet). I've been on Ebay and Amazon. There is one selling on ebay for the 10.5.2 but our iMac is 10.5.8. What will work, what won't work, and where do I go to buy?

Do not get the discs from eBay. Apple only. From eBay you do not know what you are getting. Amazon sells retail discs, not Apple installation discs.

  • Anyone know where to get Discoverer Desktop 11.1.1.6?

I just recently upgraded from discoverer 10.1.2.3 to 11.1.1.6 server wise and got it integrated to our R12 environment,I cannot seem to locate the Windows 11.1.1.6 Discoverer Desktop Administrator install anywhere though. I can find 11.1.1.3, but I'm not sure if it's 100% compatable and would rather use the same version accross the board.
I've searched edelivery, otn, and on support but all I can find is the latest version 11.1.1.7. (which isn't certified on R12) or an older version 11.1.1.3. I put in a request to oracle to get the 11.1.1.6 version but they just ended up sending me the download links to the server install and BI media pack, which does not appear to contain what I'm looking for. I was hoping someone here might have a tip on where I can find the install.

    Hello
11.1.1.3 is fine. The EUL is the same and there are no changes in the Admin tool.
    Best wishes

  • From where can I download Discoverer Desktop?

    Hi,
I am considering installing Discoverer Desktop on the PC's of some of our power users. However, I could not find the download. Does anyone know where it is? I imagine it is packaged with some other download - I just don't know what or where. Any ideas wher I can find Discoverer Desktop (10.1.2.2)?
    Thanks so much,
    Tim

    Hi Tim
So just to clarify all of the information that you have, here is a round up:
    1. From OTN: download and install the base Discoverer Desktop from the location mentioned by Rod
    2. From MetaLink: download and apply patch 4960210 for Windows 32-bit
    3. Also from MetaLink: if you are using E-Business Suite you should also download and apply patch 5985072
    Best wishes
