Where Is The Edge Code Compiler?

I was just wondering where the Java Compiler is supposed to be accessed in the Edge Code application? I have a fairly long Java source code program which pretty badly needs compilation as soon as possible.

There is no Java compiler component for Edge Code. Edge Code is designed for JavaScript (not Java) developers.

Just downloaded the 7.0.2.0 version of weblogic portal, went through
their "Your first portal" pdf, and was wondering where the actual
code goes.
I'm coming from an IBM WebSphere background where I'm used to writing
the doView(), doEdit() etc. methods in a class implementing
PortletAdapter. The developer's guide (which I haven't read totally,
yet), doesn't even seem to have any real java code in it.
How do you write code for a portlet to, say, connect to a
backend/datasource/etc. and Do Interesting Things (tm)?
What I'm looking for more or less is some coding documentation. I did
look at bea's e-docs site, but the pdf's there don't seem to be the
ticket (or I missed one; entirely likely).
Any direction welcome. A courtesy cc: to [email protected]
would be most welcome too.

BEA portal works totally different from WebSphere and Jetspeed.
The rough equivalence of PortletAdapter in the BEA framework would
be the "InputProcessor". Check out the BEA e-docs site for the
Javadoc.
However, to answer your more general question of "Do Interesting
Things", you really need to look at both the code and the EBCC
project of the sample portal that BEA provides you with. AFAIK
there is not a "how-to" documentation or coding tutorial. Javadoc
is available, but it's like trying to learn how to code Servlets
by reading the Servlet Javadoc.
If you are familiar with the struts framework, EBCC sort of
defines the "forwards" from page-to-page/page-to-InputProcessor,
and the InputProcessors are like the Action classes. The
InputProcessor classes talk to your back-end, puts beans into
the request/session, and the JSPs then use those beans to display
in the portlet.
Side point: I hope bea will have a way to migrate portals done
in their proprietary API to the Portlet API once that gets approved
... though it's hard to see how it could be done.

Hello. Not sure this will help you much, but figured I would give you my thoughts. I have never seen official documentation on SAP FMs. For me, it's been a matter of figuring what is there and how they work, as needed.
Mainly, I would just look at the source code to get an idea of what the FM is doing. Then also find where the FM is being called from other programs/FMs. That would give you an idea of how other processes are utilizing the FM as well as what they are passing and how they are handling the returned data.
Maybe others know if actual documentation, but I have never seen it and usually just figure them out as mentioned above.

Changed the domain of the server where BO Edge is installed

We changed the domain of the server where BO Edge resided and the domain of our database server. We are not getting the error message "Failed to register with name server. Reason: a server of this name already exists". This occurs whenever we try to start any of the servers from the CCM. What are or did we do wrong?

My understanding is that Edge is the same base code as XI 3.0 and it shouldn't have any errors when changing domain name or hostname. I don't have this version installed but in the CCM is there a CMS (+other services) or a SIA?
I'm not sure what changing the domain on the DB server would do, What type of DB are you using?

Table of contents in the pdf documentation

Hi folks,
It is me again, hehe.
I tried to do a pdf printed documentation for an already
existing RoboHelp project, and the points in the TOC are totally
weird. Weird in what sense? I have the major points of the content
mentioned briefly, or not at all, though they are in the normal
TOC, however the topic "Licence agreement" is detailed point by
point, and I do not need that.
My question is, does anybody know where the content of the
TOC in the pdf printed documentation could be configured?
Everything now is working nice and dandy besides that small
thing, and I would like to have it straightened out.

This is what I also thought, however whenever I was trying to
do the documentation in pdf, I was getting a short TOC with an
overemphasis on the licence agreement, which I do not remember
asking for.
I tried to find where I could control that, and I did not
find anything, so I posted this issue in the forum waiting for
someone to give me some hints.
As I was experimenting further more, I thought about the .doc
where I can modify the TOC easily as I have the Office installed on
my system.
As I was trying that, I forgot to remove the checkmark from
the "create pdf" and I got both the doc as well as the pdf
documentations. To my surprise I found out that both documents,
being identical in content, were showing more in the TOC as my
previous pdf was, though I did not change anything in the settings,
because I did not find anything to change.
So, I opted for creating the doc, modify the TOC (it still
has an overemphasis on the licence agreement, however I have enough
emphasis on the other topics now), and export the doc to pdf.
That would be the whole story.

Well, not sure what you mean by "cost codes". Normally when I see that wording I think of work breakdowns within a project. I don't think of cost codes as being general ledger numbers. But maybe you are meaning to say general ledger number? I see "Project Number" though, which makes me think you are talking about project accounting. You set up your projects in project accounting and create what Oracle calls Tasks (I like to them of them as cost codes) that you can assign to your projects. So this would all be in Project Accounting. You may want to download the various user guides for Oracle Projects to start learning about this application. You must be running project accounting, correct? So maybe you need to find the person in your company who knows this application and start to get educated on it. There is a separate forum for Projects where this may be a better place to ask this question. You may need to provide more detail on what you are trying to do if you are not involved with project accounting.

How can I get typekit fonts to display in edge code live preview?

I'm wondering how I can get typekit fonts to display when using adobe code cc live preview? I'm aware that it's an issue with my local base url, but I'm confused as to how to fix the issue.
Right now my site is stored locally in a folder on my desktop. I'm not sure what to put in the typekit settings under "domain" and what URL to put in the project settings in edge code.

I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this. In order for the Typekit fonts to load, you need to add the IP address that you are using for Live Preview to the domain listing on the kit.
By default, Edge Code uses the IP address "http://127.0.0.1/"; you should see that listed in the web browser when previewing your site. If you've changed the preview URL in Edge Code, it might be something like butterville.local instead.
In either case, copy the URL where you are previewing the site, and add it to your domains: go to http://typekit.com and launch your Kit Editor. Click Kit Settings in the upper right corner and add your domain to the domains field, then save your settings.
Make sure you republish your kit after saving the changes.

Simple support Apple makes hard - where's the 10.4 documentation?

Anyone have a clue how/where to access the latest 10.4 PDF documentation? If you go to Support -> Servers -> Tiger, the only documentation resource link there goes to the latest version (10.5). Searching Apple's site is pointless - Apple seems to think server software is like an iPod: new one comes out you can forget last weeks model.

Issue getting Edge Code Preview 3 to enable Remote Debugging

Hi all,
I am using the latest version of Chrome as my default browser. I opened up ECP3 and pointed to the project I wanted to use it for (WordPress site on WAMP server). I then clicked live preview and it opened the URL up properly in Chrome. Moments later, a notification in Edge Code Preview 3 pooped up saying I needed to re-launch Google Chrome with remote debugging enabled. So I clicked Relaunch. Minutes passed, and nothing happened. So I relaunched Chrome myself, clicked live preview again, and the same message comes up.
I have tried launched Chrome via Live Preview, I have restarted my computer, and closed all Pinned Tabs in Chrome. What is going on here?

Can you try forcing Chrome to run with remote debugging enabled? http://www.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/run-chromium-with-flags - and see if Live Preview works? That's not a solution but will help in figuring out where the break is.
I'm also going to log an issue on this so we can start tracking it.

Download Edge Code, Inspect, and Phonegap OSX 10.6.8

How can I download all three free apps: Adobe Edge Code CC, Adobe Edge Inspect CC, and PhoneGap all for Mac OSX 10.6.8?
I have seen numerous places where it shows that 10.6.8 is supported for these apps, however, through Creative Cloud (CC), it says that my operating system is no longer supported. There must be a way to download them without going through the Creative Cloud website (like a separate download link).

However, aren't Edge Code and Edge inspect NOT trial-based? Meaning that they wont expire/stop working after 30 days or so.
Also, I did not find PhoneGap in that link. I know the build version is part of Adobe too but the regular version from Phonegap.com downloads as a zip that I can't open. I am not sure if Phonegap is for Mac or not or if I am doing something wrong.
Is there any way to make the webpages we build on Edge Code mobile friendly? In other words, make it so their is a mobile version (not desktop version view) of the site when one visits that webpage on a mobile browser.

Downloaded Edge Code (Preview)

I downloaded Edge Code (Preview) and I still have the old application icon in my applications folder. What am I doing wrong? Or where do I find the updated version?

Do you mean you're now seeing two icons in Applications? If you're only seeing one icon, it is probably the icon for the newest version (it should replace the previous version in place). Is there something that makes you think it's still the old version?
Btw, I assume you're using the Creative Cloud desktop application to download Edge Code -- is that correct? What OS are you on?

Edge Code preview 3 : bug report

Sorry, it took me ages to be able to post something of that website (basically, if there's a forum where I can make bug reports for www.adobe.com website, let me know !)
So... this morning i downloaded and installed Edge Code preview 3, and : webfont pannel has gone ! Completely. I tried to run Edge Code preview 2 : webfont panel works perfectly.
I'm pretty happy not be eligible for the upgrade of Dreamweaver CS6 (12.2) made available this morning too : if it's as bugged as is ECP3...

In preview 3, the web font hints don't pop up nearly as agressively as they used to. If you type the first char of any font name, they should appear. Or you can invoke the hints popup explicitly by pressing Ctrl+Space.
We may change the behavior back to how preview 2 worked in the future. Our main concern is to make the hints for CSS property names not overly agressive, since it's harder to predict where you're going to start typing one. But typing CSS property values is a little more predictable, so we might be willing to pop those hints up more often (as in preview 2).
