Where is elements saving my photos?

This is driving me crazy. I open a photograph from iPhoto and it automatically opens in Elements 10. I edit it but cannot see how to save it back into the same event folder in iPhoto. There is an exact copy of the original but not the edited version. The default folder that photoshop saves it to I cannot find the path for. It is given some seriously weird name like cTa9s1234 etc. I'm a long time Windows user who's made the switch to Mac OSX. Please help and save my sanity.

Thank you all for your help. I have been onto Adobe this morning but we still couldn't get the photos saved in iPhoto. We had to use Organizer but this is not what I want. My version of iPhoto (I am assuming that it is the latest one as it came with my brand new OSX Lion iMac) does not have the editing preferences in the General tab but in the Advanced tab. I am given the option of selecting Elements 10 as my default editng software from Support Files/ Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app but nothing about opening in application. So that's done and the photo opens in Elements. Edit it and the saved files goes off somewhere, seemingly Organizer, not to iPhoto.
All I want to do is open a photo, edit it and then Save As to iPhoto. How difficult can that be? But the only way I can do this is to save the edited file to desktop then drag into iPhoto. Then I have to delete the desktop photo. This cannot be right. In Windows it was dead simple but with the Mac it seems impossibly difficult.
Any other thoughts?

  • Where is Belle saving my photos?

    This is odd.
Trying to get some photos off my phone via my work machine (no ovi suite here) and if I browse to my usual folder I have all my photos up until I upgraded to Belle. The photos I've taken since then are still on my phone - I can see them in my gallery - but can't seem to work out where the actual files are in the folder structure.
    Can anyone help?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

go to cam settings and you can choose where to save them and as stated above in that folder

  • When I tried to back up my computer, Time Machine says 'an error occurred while creating the backup folder.' When I check the side of the partition where I manually saved old files, the folders are there, but NONE of the files are.

I haven't backed up my computer in over a year. When I tried to back it up today, Time Machine says 'an error occurred while creating the backup folder.' When I check the side of the partition where I manually saved old photos and documents (including all the pictures from the year I studied abroad/traveled a bunch), the folders are there, but NONE of the files are.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be, or how I could fix it? I really don't want to lose all those photos

So you were doing a time machine backup to another partition on the same hard drive? Just trying to gather some information so i can provide a helpful response.

  • Where can you compare 2 photos side by side in Full Screen in Elements 11?

Where can you compare 2 photos side by side in Full Screen in Elements 11? Version 9 has this feature under Display View.

In the Organizer select two thumbnails and hit the F12 key to compare them. But I guess you mean in the Editor application. In Expert Mode it‘s possible to work with floating windows rather than fixed tabs but you first need to set your preferences. Go to:
Edit >> Preferences >> General (Windows)
Photoshop Elements Editor >> Preferences >> General (Mac)
Then put a checkmark in the box against “Allow Floating Documents in Expert Mode”
    Click OK
You can now open your two images and use the layout button at the bottom to choose various configurations or to cascade.

  • Where can i find my photos that are on my phone, are they saved to i tunes?

where can i find the photos on my phone, should they not be saved on i tunes?

Photos are not saved in your iTunes library.  You can use iTunes to sync photos from your computer to your phone, but they are stored on your hard drive.  Camera roll photos are contained in your iPhone backup, but not in as way that allows you to view them; they are only backed up so your phone can be restored later, if necessary.  You should import your photos to your computer as you would with any digital camera, as outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

  • Kodak easy share and Elements 11 and photo retouching questions

I have kodak easyshare on my pc. That's where i store all my photos. Can I  use Elements 11 without interfereing with my kodak software ? I like to transfere my photos from my digital camera right to my kodak softwear. Can I still keep doing that and only transfere the ones I want to correct onto elements 11 ?. Will elements 11 take away oily skin from photos and make them look fresh and non oily ?  I like the glamour shot look without everyone having an oily face. Thanks.

    Hi quasarstar,
When you copy photos from your camera through any software (Kodak, Elements, Lightroom, Windows OS import, etc.) a physical copy is created on your storage media (wherever you configured the software to copy photos to).
When you install Photoshop Elements, you also get Photoshop Elements Organizer. Organizer serves as a virtual library of all the pictures and videos that are available to your computer. You can choose which photos are included in Organizer, by choosing only those pictures you would like to import. From the Organizer application, you can view your assets, and then modify, enhance, or alter them accordingly in Photoshop Element Editor (photos) or Premiere Elements (for videos, requires separate purchase).
    To answer your questions:
Can I  use Elements 11 without interfereing with my kodak software ? [Ivan David] Yes!
Can I still keep doing that and only transfere the ones I want to correct onto elements 11 ? [Ivan David] Yes, absolutely. Choose and import only the photos you want in Photoshop Elements Organizer.
Will elements 11 take away oily skin from photos and make them look fresh and non oily ? [Ivan David] This. I believe, might be possible, but might require some skills. There is no straightforward way of doing this in Photoshop Elements 11 yet.
    Hope this helped!
    Regards,
    David

  • Saving edited photos in jpeg

I use Element 9. I am not alowed the option on the drop down list to select jpeg when saving edited photos. Please help!

Make sure the image is not 16 bits/channel and not bitmap or indexed color.
    Image>Mode
Usually RGB Color and 8 bits/channel is the norm for saving as a jpeg.
Also if your document has layers (jpeg doesn't support layers) you would need to flatten the photo before being able to save as a jpeg.
If you want to keep the layers use a format such as psd or tif.

  • Where does PSE10 save edited photos?

Where does PSE10 save edited photos?  When I use PSE File / Open Recently Edited file,  it displays 10 files.  How do I access are all the other ones I have saved?  I have tried using iMAC Finder with no luck.

edited photos are saved in the modified folder in the iPhoto library
However - that is not the place to access the modified photo - you never need to go directly into the iPhoto library is it is advisable not to - there are no user serviceable parts in it
click here for a discussion of safely and correctly accessing your iPhoto library.

It is a hard one.. laptops with small drives are a pain.
What you need is a home media server.
Some people use a PC running itunes for cost.. but that is nothing like as good as using a Mac mini.. they make great little HTPC device.. you can plug in large hard disks and store all your files and media. And share it with the network.. Read up apple's instructions on home sharing.
    https://www.apple.com/au/support/homesharing/
For cost you can buy a mini from 2011 or 2012.. I would not recommend earlier ones.. the advantage of 2012 is they have USB3 ports. But you will pay more for them.. new mini is not as useful.. they have soldered in memory and you cannot upgrade.. the old mini was the most easily modified mac in the whole range. Uses little power and can be bought for a $300US for a good one second hand.. maybe less.

The way that Dropbox works is that it keeps a copy of all your files in your local Dropbox folder on your hard drive (which is, by default, directly under your home folder). Adding files to that folder will sync them to the Dropbox server.
You do of course have to download the Dropbox application to enable this (download link at the top right of http://dropbox.com ).
