Where is Epson Printing Preferences ?

Hi,
I recently switched from PC to iMac, and I'm very happy I did. But, my Epson 1290 (1270 for USA) printer does not act the way I know from PC. I always had the possibility to change the printer's settings (resolution, kind of paper, paper size and so on) when I was in the Print dialog box. Where can I find that on my iMac. The Epson site doesn't give me any clue on how to get at this, so maybe someone on this forum might.
On the PC I used to have a little utility called Epson Status Monitor, and this I can't find either on my iMac.
Any help would be appreciated.

Oops,
I told I just recently switched from PC to Mac. Well, that's what all the print confusion came from.
Printing on the Mac is a little different then on a PC .
There is this little arrow besides the dropdown where you choose your printer. That little arrow shows the printing preferences/settings I was looking for.
They where there all along.
I know, I should be more patience and try, try, look, look, and try and look again.
Problem solved, and thanks to Dennis who was really trying to help me.

  • Where is the Printer Preferences Dialog?

I'm running PSE 6 for Mac on an iMac using Leopard.  Printer is Canon iP6600D.  After calibrating the monitor (using Apple's program under System Preferences), I opened a jpg on my desktop and made a print, and it matches the monitor fairly closely.  Then I decided to open the same jpg inside PSE and print from there.  Then it asked me under color management/color handling whether PSE or the printer manages the colors (or no color management).  Depending on the answer, it says I need to disable or enable color management in the Printer Preferences Dialog.  I have two questions:
    1)  Where can I find the Printer Preferences Dialog?
    2)  Is it better to let PSE or the Printer handle the color management?
I actually have a third question (sorry).  When I make prints from our local Walgreens or WalMart, the prints seem way too dark and saturated (WalMart) or has a bluish/purple-ish cast (Walgreens).  Maybe their printers are not calibrated like they're supposed to be??

Thanks.  I used PSE to produce two jpgs of the same image, one with the 'standard' monitor calibration (gamma = 1.8), and the other using a calibration with gamma = 2.2.  Images are sRGB, and I used the 'no color management' setting in PSE.  I made prints on my Canon ip6600D, and they matched the monitor pretty closely for the respective profiles.  The print made with the gamma 2.2 calibration came out lighter than the gamma 1.8 calibration, which was expected.  So at this point it looks like my monitor and printer are working okay.
However, I just got back from Walmart, and these same two prints are way too dark, and they are the same exposure (one should be lighter).  Does their machine (Fuji Frontier I believe) automatically optimize the images?  If so, that is not good.  What do I do now?  Do I have to use a printer profile that matches their machine?  My prints looks good (according to my monitor and printer), but I would like to make prints from Walmart or Walgreens if I need to print out a large quantity (saves time, money, ink and paper cost).  Also, I want to send a cd to friends so they can make prints, but at this rate, it is not going to work.

  • Where are my printer preferences in ipad2?

I'm trying to print from my iPad and it has become mission impossible. I do not have an airprinter but I have a wireless lermax.  I can fallow any suggestions because I can find printer setting anywhere of my iPad

There are no printer preferences on the iPad. If you don't have an AirPrint printer, you need a third party app in order to print - whether you have a wireless printer or not doesn't matter - you need an app to print.
Look in the App Store - Print Central, Print and Share, there are others. Search for more.

  • Color management help needed for adobe CS5 and Epson printer 1400-Prints coming out too dark with re

Color management help needed for adobe CS5 and Epson printer 1400-Prints coming out too dark with reddish cast and loss of detail
    System: Windows 7
    Adobe CS5
    Printer: Epson Stylus Photo 1400
Paper: Inkjet matte presentation paper with slight luster
Installed latest patch for Adobe CS5
    Epson driver up to date
After reading solutions online and trying them for my settings for 2 days I am still unable to print what I am seeing on my screen in Adobe CS5. I calibrated my monitor, but am not sure once calibration is saved if I somehow use this setting in Photoshop’s color management.
The files I am printing are photographs of dogs with lots of detail  I digitally painted with my Wacom tablet in Photoshop CS5 and then printed with Epson Stylus 1400 on inkjet paper 20lb with slight luster.
My Printed images lose a lot of the detail & come out way to dark with a reddish cast and loss of detail when I used these settings in the printing window:
Color Handling: Photoshop manages color, Color management -ICM, OFF no color adjustment.
When I change to these settings in printer window: Color Handling:  Printer manages color.  Color management- Color Controls, 1.8 Gamma and choose Epson Standard it prints lighter, but with reddish cast and very little detail and this is the best setting I have used so far.
Based on what I have read on line, I think the issue is mainly to do with what controls are set in the Photoshop Color Settings window and the Epson Printer preferences. I have screen images attached of these windows and would appreciate knowing what you recommend I enter for each choice.
Also I am confused as to what ICM color management system to use with this printer and CS5:
What is the best ICM to use with PS CS5 & the Epson 1400 printer? Should I use the same ICM for both?
Do I embed the ICM I choose into the new files I create?
Do I view all files in the CS5 workspace in this default ICM?
Do I set my monitor setting to the same ICM?
If new file opens in CS5 workspace and it has a different embedded profile than my workspace, do I convert it?
Do I set my printer, Monitor and PS CS5 color settings to the same ICM?
Is using the same ICM for all devices what is called a consistent workflow?
I appreciate any and all advice that can be sent my way on this complicated issue. Thank you in advance for your time and kind help.

It may be possible to figure out by watching a Dr.Brown video on the subject of color printing. Adobe tv
    I hope this may help...............

  • Printer preferences in 10.6?

My paper size as set in system preferences doesn't display correctly in the print window. I need to delete the printer preferences file and start again. Where is the printer preferences file in 10.6?

Although, deleting the plist fixed the OP's issue, I don't see paper size as one of those entries:
    defaults read com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs
        UseLastPrinterAsCurrentPrinter = 0;
        "com.apple.print.lastCSProfilePath" = "/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/sRGB Profile.icc";
        kLocationHistoryArrayKeyTMP =     (

  • NO PRINTER PREFERENCES DIALOGUE BOX IN CS3 FOR EPSON R2880

I am running CS3 on a mac OS X and have just bought an Epson printer R2880. I cannot get any dialogue box up that will give me any printer options other than the basic print size, orientation and position on the paper. My only solution so far is to Copy & Paste into Pages where I can access a few more options & get reasonable prints. Has anyone found a way round this ?

    Sorry, Ill expand.
Its Mac OS/X Leopard. Running Adobe CS3. When I try and print a photo from Adobe CS3, I go to file print which displays a dialogue box (Titled Print). This dialogue box displays many print options e.g. size and orientation , position on the page etc but not a facility i.e dialogue box to select the paper type as an example e.g photo glossy , photo matt etc. These options are available from many of the other programs such as Pages and Easy Print and various other applications. Indeed I can take a photo from CS3 , convert to tiff as an example and print using these options from Easy Print. I would however like to access the full printer settings from CS3. I think this issue has been seen before in the professional range of printers.
I have spoken to Epson who say their printer and driver is fine as all the facilities work from other apps.
Adobe support said CS3 didnt support the preferences but to try a forum to see how people get round it. Hence here I am!
It is very strange that a photo application as advanced as CS3 wont let me choose a paper type for a semi professional printer like the Epson R2880.

  • Where can I get an EPSON printer for the original iMac?

Where can I get an EPSON printer for the original iMac?

You should look for an Epson Stylus Color 740 or the higher-end 900 or 980, which are about 12 years old now.  All have USB connectivity, and while the 900/980 is a better/faster printer, it's harder to find the ink tanks for it at the usual office supply stores.  Ink tanks for the 740 series seem to be more readily available, without a special order.  There were Mac versions of these printers (the 740i and 900i), with blue/ice housings that were color-keyed to match the fruit-colored "blueberry" iMac and Blue & White G3 mini-tower.  There was no Epson printer that was color-keyed to the original Bondi Blue iMacs.

  • Where does Acrobat Reader store its print preferences?

I'm trying to print a file directly with no human interaction using Acrobat Reader. To do such, I'm using the command line arguments "acrord32.exe /t filename \\printerlocation\printer".
Printing works just fine except for one detail: some of my pdf files need printing with "Auto Rotate and Center" checked and "Page Scaling" to "None", while others need "Auto Rotate and Center" unchecked and "Page Scaling" to "Fit to Printable Area"...
I've realised that Acrobat Reader stores its last selected preferences (if you close Acrobat and re-open it, these two settings are still set as they were the last time you closed Acrobat) but the question is... where?!
I've noticed the bprintAutoRotate and the bprintExpandToFit keys in the registry under (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral) and they even change their values whenever I change the options in Reader and close the application, but changing them through my application seems to have no effect - I see the values changing in the registry but Acrobat still prints (and displays if I open the print preferences dialog) the last settings it had memorized before I changed them in my application...
Is there any other location where Acrobat stores these printing preferences? Is there a way to change these settings through the windows registry or any other configuration file(s)?!
By the way, I'm using Acrobat Reader 8.1.3.
    Thanks in advance

Epsnm should provide recommended settings (I.e. Which Canon paper type to select). They may also have profiles on their site.

  • Help!  Where Did My Printing Options Go With My Epson R800?

For some reason, I've lost the Format Settings from my Epson R800 printer (USB) when I open Page Setup. Typically you should get options for "Manual", "Roll Paper-Borderless Banner" and several others in Page Setup. This all started when I did a "Reset Printing System" in Printer Setup Utility. This deleted all the options from my Library>Printers folder. I have copied the folder contents back from a backup with no success. I've also trashed the contents of the Epson folder in the root Library>Printers>Epson folder and the EpsonPrinterDriver.pkg in the Receipts folder, and reinstalled the Epson Printer Software from my Tiger Installation Disk. Repaired permissions, ran a repair on both Disk Utility and DiskWarrior. The right contents appear to be in the appropriate folders, but when I used Printer Setup the only driver that comes up is the generic "Epson SP R800." Clicking More Printers just says that it is unable to turn Apple Talk on - I'm not using it. This has to be a software problem, because I everything works as it should when I start up using an older backup disk. This is driving me nuts! My primary use for the printer is with roll paper, and now I can't access that feature. Does anyone have a fix or suggestion for this problem? Thanks.

Greg, I'm an idiot! Turns out the Print Browser had somehow reset itself to Apple Talk. Clicking More Printers was then giving me the can't turn on Apple Talk message. When I clicked on Print Browser popup there was the Epson USB just as you said it should be. Selecting this put me in business. So simple, and I feel so stupid. Sorry for the bother. Anyway, thanks for the help - much appreciated.

  • Where do I download the Epson Printer Utility?

I recently purchased a 24" iMac. Previous to that I had a PowerPC PowerBook. I used Migration Mgr. to port all of my files from my external HD back to my new iMac. Somehow, in all of that, my Epson Printer Utility vanished. It is not to be found anywhere on the external HD. I have no idea.
Yesterday, I downloaded the new Intel Epson printer drivers form Apple. My Epson R2400 now prints as it should. However, my colors are off which tells me that my ink levels are low. But without the printer utility, I have no idea cartridges need replacing.
I have searched without any success for Epson's Printer Utility. If anyone knows of a source for this I would be very grateful for the link.
    Thanks,
    Phillip Anthony

    John,
After reading your post I didn't know whether to scream or cry. I think you just solved this mystery. Not in a good way mind you, but at least I now understand these issues a lot better.
To back up a bit: I did find a link for Epson drivers for my printer a few days back which I downloaded. And it is indeed the Gutenprint driver. This then explains how and why I spent all of today ******* in the wind trying to figure out why I could not -
    1. Get my existing Epson Printer Utility to launch to check my low ink cartridge levels and;
    2. Get my Epson Printer Utility 4 to launch.
All of these issues were due to the fact that I was using the Gutenprint Epson driver. Just great. Guess I will have to use my old PowerBook to print out my business cards. I am sure there will be other obstacles ahead with this issue. IMO, all of this is beyond stupid. There must be some other way to check my ink levels.
Anyway, because of your post, I now understand how all of this came about. Thank you for your very informative post.
    Phillip Anthony

  • Where do print preferences live?

I believe I need to delete some print preferences. But the problem I hope to resolve involves printing through a print server. (I have a Mac Mini acting as a server for two other Macs.)
Do the preferences in this case reside on the server? Or are all of them always just on the local computer? If they're on the server, in which folder?

Do a File>Find and look for com.apple.print (print prefs files). Same location(s) on server and client.

  • FIX for EPSON Print CD V2.02 - EPSON Stylus Photo R200 - MAC OS 10.5.9

I thought I'd post this ridiculously long info sheet on what finally got my R200 to work with EPSON Print CD and 10.5.8 just in case it might help someone else BEFORE they spend days searching for a solution.
Check the printer driver information in System Preferences, Print & Fax. If it says anything other than EPSON SP R200 Series, you’ve likely located the problem. My system showed the Gutenprint v5.1.3 and /or CUPS/+GIMP... I originally replaced the Gutenprint driver file with the CUPS... file thinking this would solve the Gutenprint driver problem. But, as I continued to look into what was going on, I think I found out that both driver files are actually considered Gutenprint driver files.
    1. Select the hard drive where the operating system is located.
    2. Select Library/Printers.
    3. Select the Epson folder and delete it and then Empty Trash to make sure it’s gone.
    4. Select Library/Preferences.
    5. Select the Epson folder and delete any files that are there.
(Steps 4 & 5 might not be necessary, but I’m listing everything that I did.)
    6. In System Preferences, select Printers and Fax. Control click in listing area and select Reset Printers.
    7. Load the Leopard Installation CD and select Optional Installation.
    8. Select Printers and select Epson. This will reload the printer drivers for all the EPSON printers that are included on the install CD.
    9. Go back to the System Preferences, Printers and Fax window. Click on the + sign to add a printer.
    10. There will likely be a listing with Printer Name as EPSON Stylus Photo R200, Kind as USB.
    11. Click on an arrow in the Print Using: box and select EPSON SP R200 Series. The printer icon changed dramatically at this point, with a rainbow of colors on the document shown coming out of the printer.
Note: **Working within the Print & Fax app seems to be key to getting the settings corrected.** Someone else pointed out that they also found this necessary. However, I couldn’t get the proper “Print Using:” option to appear until I cleaned out the Library/Printers/Epson folder, “Reset Printers”, and reloaded the EPSON printer drivers from the Leopard installation CD.
I had previously done the “Reset Printers” and reloaded the printer files, but as was advised against in the post I mentioned, I selected the “More Printers” option. That’s where I found the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 listed with the CUPS+Gimp ... and the Gutenprint driver listing options. Selecting what appeared to be the Gutenprint alternate printer driver didn’t help at all. I’m not sure if the EPSON SP R200 driver file was missing from the original listing of printer drivers or if I just missed it. I certainly would have looked for it if I had known it was the one that’s needed.
    12. Open the EPSON Print CD V2.02 app. Although I had already installed the Easy Print update, I got a message saying that the application needed the update to work. So, I reinstalled the Easy Print update.
    13. After reinstalling the Easy Print update, I reselected Update Printer Information. Much to my amazement, I got a message and a progress indicator showing the Printer Information was being updated to reflect the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 printer.
    14. When the Update Printer Information process had completed, I clicked on Print and suddenly found that I was able to choose Select Printer and pick the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 and CD/DVD wondrously appeared in the Media Type.
After this point, all the other instructions that are provided from EPSON seemed to work just fine.
Hopefully, there’s enough information in here somewhere that people with other operating systems and printers might at least be able to get a clue . . .

I dug around on the Epson site and found this which seemed to address the exact problem so they obviously know about it. Unfortunately even these rather drastic steps failed to solve the issue for me.
