Where is ESR ,Service Registry in ECC or SAP-PI?

Hi Gurus,
i am trying to develop a custom web service in ECC 6.0 with the end point "Function module' . i went to SE80 and did all the required things.
I want to know where is my ESR and service registry in ECC? Does it only exists in SAP-PI or it also exists in R/3  ECC 6.0 ? I dont know about it and if it exists in ECC 6.0 how does SOAMANAGER helps and what role does it play in that?
so when ECC 6.0 act as a service provider , our WSDL will be generated in R/3 ECC 6.0 so in that case where we register our service and how?
Well I read that SAP Service Registry along with Enterprise Services Repository are shipped with SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 and SAP NetWeaver Composite Environment 7.1 but then when we create our custom enterprise services in R/3 ECC System how ESR and Enterprise registry comes in to play? how this whole thing works?
Regards,
Mayank

Hi Mayank,
Key message: ESR + SR is part of PI and/or CE and doesn't exist on ECC.
Now regarding your confusion over service created on ECC from FM:
ESR is modeling tool which just model the service, and you can't really execute this service until unless you implement it somewhere (may be ECC). ESR act as central repository of meta-data of all services, however no service execute on ESR and it is just some sort of storage place. Real benefits ESR gives is that you can connect different systems with ESR and extract meta-data (WSDL) to implement webservice in backend (ECC or Java).
On other hand Service Registy act as yellow page where information about actual services is available so if you are looking for some specific service you look into yellopages (Service Registry) and locate the endpoint (actual address) of webservice, again service execute on backend systems not in Service Registry.
When you create service out of FM in ECC then you are still creating service but you are not using ESR, you can also publish service into Yellowpages(Service Registry) so others can locate your service. This approach is called inside-out development, for inside out development you don't need ESR.
You can also design same service in ESR first and then create proxy in ECC and call FM inside proxy, this approach is known as outside-in approach of developing services.
On SCN you can find plenty of information on this subject, and remember outside-in/top down approach is recommended (design first then develop).

  • Regarding Service Registry classification - PI7.1 EHP1

    Hi,
We are trying to implement the Services Registry classification in PI.So far,we have published the wsdl in SR and have classifed it by going to the Manage tab in the SR and adding the Value Description,Value Code under a Classification system.
As a next step,we have added the UME roles in the Permissions tab.Our requirement is to restrict access to the wsdls based on user names. Is there any way where in we can implement this,i.e,the published wsdls should not be viewed by all users, rather it should be specific to users.
    Kindly advise.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • WSPUBLISH to Central Services Registry issue

    Hi Gurus,
I am trying to publish a web service in the ERP6 backend to our central Services Registry (PI 7.1)
when I do this in SOAMANAGER the page hangs (hangs on loading step)
so i try to execute the publish using WSPUBLISH transaction code, and it is successful
but checking on PI SR the service is not published,
so i checked the log of the WSPUBLISH execution, and on this step:
"Physical System was published successfully" i clicked on the display icon and it is showing
    300.SystemName.ERP.SystemNumber.0020600664.SystemHome.<ERP6_HOST>
shouldn't it be that this should show the PI SR server e.g.   100.SystemName.PIX.SystemNumber.0020600664.SystemHome.<PIX_HOST>
where PIX = my PI 7.1 server
I have configured my PI SR as a Central Services Registry from http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/45/c1ea61a1194432e10000000a155369/frameset.htm
I've already looked at Note 1319742
    Kindly advice

    Hi ZM
I had the same problem with my service registry. In Web Visual Composer, i didn't find any service in SR.
    I resolve in two ways.
Configure the service registry in NWDS, there works fine, but i have problem with DC in VC in NWDS.
I use destination WSIL, with this destination i have found all the services

  • Importence of Service Registry in PI 7.1

    Hi
Can anyone send me the link or Documention about the Service Registry in PI 7.1
    Thanks
    PR

    Hi PR,
The Services Registry (SR) is a registry for Web services. Located centrally within a SOA landscape, it contains information about services provided in that landscape, with references to the servicesu2019 relevant WSDL metadata and to the locations of the callable service endpoints. The registered services are classified using semantic-rich classification systems to enable browsing of services by classification.
The Services Registry is a central place for developers to find available Web services they can reuse. Administrators can find available service endpoints and manage connections between consumer and provider systems. The Services Registry provides support for SAP and non-SAP applications.
The Services Registry ensures visibility in an SOA landscape providing answers to questions such as:
Where are services located in the landscape?
Which services are modeled but not yet implemented?
Which services are already configured and can be invoked?
Who uses services I have published to the Services Registry?
How can I inform Web services consumers about changes of services?
Service Registry is a UDDI server,if you take any SOA archutecture it contain soap, wsdl and UDDI ,soap is used to comunicate and call the services and WSDL is used to represet /develop the services.UDDI used to store the services.
even SAP Also using the same ,Service Registry is compatibility with UDDI3.0,it stores the all services,we can publish and consume the services from SAP Landscape.

  • Unable to consume Enterprise Service from SAP Service Registry

    Hi,
I am trying to make use of a Enterprise Service available at the SAP's Service Registry (http://sr.esworkplace.sap.com/) in a Composite Application. I am using NWDS 7.1 for this purpose.
The steps that I follow are as follows.
    1) I try importing the Web Service by right clicking the external node under the Composite Application and give the necessary login credentials for the SAP Service Registry.
    2) I click on the "Show Advanced" link under which I make following selection:
    BrowseByApplication->ERP Foundation->Business Partner Data Management->Employee
Now my problem is after I select the Employee node, the 'Next' button is not enabled on the Service Registry wizard.
Can anyone give an indication of why this might be the case. You may also want to know that at this stage I have still not installed NW AS CE 7.1.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shailesh

    Hi David,
Yes I was able to consume the ESOA enterprise services from SAP's ES Workplace, although I am not inside the SAP network.
As mentioned by me in my earlier post, the problem that I was facing was faced because I used to access internet through an internal proxy server which required me to pass my NT domain credentials.
In order to access ES workplace from NWDS would mean that NWDS will have to access the internet, but this used to fail despite my specifying the proxy server settings in the Preferences menu of NWDS.
I was able to overcome this problem by installing an ISA Firewall client on my m/c and in the proxy settings of the NWDS specifying a direct connection to the internet. This helped me to access the SAP's ES workplace inside NWDS, once you are able to select the available ES from the SAP workplace you will be able to utilize them in your application.
Also, once you deploy the application, the runtime, i.e. WAS will also have to be configured to access the internet, this can be done by specifying proxy settings under Global System settings options.
    Hope this helps,
    Shailesh

  • Services Registry in PI 7.1 - What is this and where is it used?

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is Services Registry in PI 7.1 ? What featuers are available in it and where is it used or how its helpful?
I dont have access to it in my system, so am curious to know the contents of it!!
Do we define global data types by any chance in the Services Registry ?
    Cheers,
    S

    Hi,
    What is Service Registry?
Definition: Service Registry is a registry for Webservices that is located centrally within an SOA landscape.  In simple words u201Cwhere are our services implemented?u201D can be identified by using Service Registry.
PI 7.1 contains a UDDI v.3 compliant Service Registry contains information about services provided in that landscape with references to the WSDL metadata relevant for those services and to the locations of the callable service endpoints.
How the Service Registry used in PI?
    1.     As a Webservice provider we can publish Webservice.
    2.     As a Webservice consumer we can search for and find Webservices for consumption.
    3.     We can test our Webservices.
    4.     Manage third party Webservices and classify them to provide them for consumption in our system landscape.
    5.     Providing Deployment information (i.e End point information).
    Enterprise Services Repository (ESR):
To support strategic service oriented approach SAP provides a new Enterprise Service Repository. ESR is a central repository of information that contains all the services. ESR is a container, stores all the underlying Meta data of application objects like service interfaces and descriptions. The global data types, interfaces and business processes maintained in Enterprise service repository which can be reuse where needed. The first implementation of ESR and its associated editors come in SAP Netweaver04u2019s, which has been evolved from NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure Integration Repository. Enterprise service repository is a design time repository of service objects for ESA. You can model all service design objects for a process and can reuse the data types and service objects which are already maintained. All enterprise services are published in a central Enterprise service repository so they can be used by anybody who really needs that service includes customers and partners.
The Enterprise Service Repository is the evolution of what it was known as the Integration Repository in XI.  Now the Integration Repository is called the ESR and XI is called PI.  Using the Integration Repository as foundation for the ESR made a lot of sense since many of the capabilities were already there: metadata storage, defining message types, data types, operations, etc.
     ESR is just like Integration Repository for XI.  Here you can design/define your Service Interfaces and Enterprise Services.
     ESR is the central repository in which Service Interfaces and Enterprise Services are modeled centrally and their metadata is stored.
     In simple words u201CWhat does the service do and what does it need?u201D can be answered from ESR.
     ESR is used for: -
    1.     Definition of Processes and Services
    2.     Store Service Metadata
    3.     Central Modeling and Design Environment.
    Global Data Types
     Definition: Global Data Types are company-wide, defined data types based on international standards.  They are based on the SAP methodology and are defined in a standards-based way in the ESR.
     They are based on the ISO 15000-5 and UN/CEFACT CCTS standards and act as the semantic building blocks for service interfaces.
     Global Data Types help you in standardizing service definitions across your organization and provide the key building blocks that can be reused across all your service definitions.
     Global Data Types have been approved SAP-wide by the Governance Process for Business Content.
     Global Data Types have been defined in the ESR and are described by XML schema.
    Thanks,
    Satya Kumar

  • Unable to see ECC proxies in PI Service Registry

I am trying to consume ECC proxies in PI service registry but I cannot see any ECC backend proxies in PI. I have gone through several blogs, configuration guides and sdn forums to get this to work but could not. In ECC, if I use SOAMANAGER, I can see my proxy and web service in web service administration but I cannot see it in PI. I have done the following:
    - System Global Settings
In Service Registry, I have defined proxy class as CO_SERVICES_REGISTRY_FLAT_SI, set to primary, logical port defined as default_port.
    - On ECC WS administration, setup end points and binding.
    - setup ID configuration objects for this scenario (WS to Proxy -> Proxy to WS Synchronous)
    - Proxy creation in ECC also completed.
    - Also checked in WSPARAM settings, same as WS Admin Service Registry.
    - WSPUBLISH - getting error in ECC: RCVR_DETERMINATION.NO_RECEIVER_CASE_BE No receiver could be determined, Error retrieving Services Registry (SR) version information, Error retreiving physical system from Services Registry, Exception raised during physical system publication. Code.
and in PI getting error:  INTERNAL.PROXY_NOT_ALLOWED_ON_IS Proxy calls are not permitted on sender or receiver side on the IS (client), Error retrieving Services Registry (SR) version information, No Publication possible from Integration Server(IS).
    - Created type H RFC destinations in both ECC and PI.
Since WSADMIN, WSCONFIG and LPCONFIG have been combined into SOAMANAGER, are there any other settings I have to do as far as ECC communicating with PI Web Service and PI consuming ECC proxies? Did I miss anything here?
Most of the PI documenation, blogs and guides are outdated for previous versions. We are using SAP EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.1.
    Thank you!

  • Not able to consume any service out of ESR or Service Registry

    Hello Guys,
I have installed trial version of SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 EHP 1^with ESR. I have also install Visual Composer. I want to make some exercises to make my concept clear but I am not able to find any service from the Find option in the VC. I have also tried to consume any service in Webdynpro project and trying to create model from ESR or Service Registry but It does not connect to ESR.
    Your recommendations are welcome.
    Regards,
    Naeem Khan

    Hi Manohar,
Can you please explain something in more detail????
Because I have already configured ESR and SR accoding to installation manual and I have also seen the webminar of installation of SAP NW CE 7.1 with ESR line is here
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/elearn?rid=/library/uuid/704fe668-2cf4-2a10-a38c-8604e4989d49&overridelayout=true
One thing I am not sure about is, when I go to configure initial setup by using configuration wizard. There is one error (file missing on importing XI content) when I am going to execture "Configuration of ESR in CE" task from the task list in the configuration wizard. I think becasue of that I am not able to consume services in VC and webdynpro projects!!!
    What do you say???
If also think the same then can I install some how missing xi content to ESR??? I have seen on service market place when I go to ESR - component list.
Or you recommend me to install PI/XI on my server then this missing component should be installed automatically???
    Regards,

  • Importing the ES Bundle webservices into the Service Registry of PI

    Experts,
We have an ECC 6.0 Enhancement Pack 3, PI 7.1, and CE 7.1 landscape and are having some trouble getting the Enterprise Web Services that come with EP3 to show up in the Service Registry that came with PI.
We are following the guide "CE, ESR, AND DISCOVERY SYSTEM BUILDING AN END-TO-END ENTERPRISE SOA SCENARIO", https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/108ef7ba-8abd-2a10-f787-d5f29c5f1b88
All of the references to CE we have been replacing with PI since we want to use the SR that came with PI instead of CE.
We can get all the way up to step 6 in section 3.3 where it tells us to use LPCONFIG to create a logical port pointing to the Service Registry. We we run this tcode we get a message telling us to go to SOAMANAGER.  I found the following URL
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/44/cc8fd368c873dfe10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
That describes how to do this however when we go into the NWA we do not see a 'Call Parameters' tab.
Basically it looks like the process is as follows:
    1) On ECC 6.0, use Sm59 to create a RFC connection.
    2) On ECC 6.0, use WSPARAM to create a Enterprise Registry parameter
    3) From PI, launch SOAMANAGER to create a logical port
    4) ON ECC 6.0, use WSPUBLISH to select the webservices we want to show up in the Service Registry.
Does this sound like the correct method?

I should add, this is the error message that we are getting:
SoapFaultCode:1  Cannot create implementation instance. Nested message:
An exception occurred while obtaining UDDI Logical Ports. Please, check
your c onfiguration settings (UDDI Endpoint or UDDI wsdl

  • Error publishing WSDL to service registry

    Hello,
We have just installed PI 7.1.
I have created a service in ESR.
When I click on the WSDL tab and click on Publish, I get the errors listed below.
    My questions are:
    1. Do I need to do any specific service registry configuration and what are those?
    2. If you look at the errors, it says connection refused to localhost:50100. Where does it get that settings from? We have our instance installed on port 50000 not 50100.
    Please help.

  • Service Registry in PI 7.1 .. cannot connect from VC 7.1 on CE

    Hello
I am trying to access PI 7.1 Service Registry which maintains Services published on ECC centrally. VC is used as access tool which is installed on CE7.1. I have changed the Destination Templates  UDDI_DESTINATION, CLASSIFICATION_DESTINATION to point to PI7.1 server
also I have created another destination SID with type Services Registry to PI 7.1.
Also changed the ServicesRegistrySIPort to point to PI 7.1 server instead of localhost and adjusted the port aswell.
But I cannot get any Services in VC, does not find any where are there are many published and could be viewed in the WSnavigator on CE7.1.
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    regards
    Mustafa

    Hi,
Please verify in the SR configuration that the port types that were published have a physical system defined, and that system has an SLD ID.
VC can only work with physical systems containing an SLD ID

  • Services Registry Search Returns 0 Results

I'm following the 3 part walkthrough on CE 7.2 and one step is using VC to connect the CreatePurchaseRequest to a backend web service.
I've exposed the service in ECC, setup the endpoint/service on the Java side for that server, and then published it to the NW CE server. The publish steps return
"Successfully published service definition with key : "uddi:05c3d3ee-f4e4-11df-cab0-0000001b0b3e" " indicating the server sees and has configured it.
However, when searching for the service in VC on my dev system, it keeps returning 0 results in the search. I've looked at documentation for hours and can't find the fix - this seems to span many areas of NW. Can anyone advise of where to look or something else to test on the system/client?
NW WS Navigator can see the endpoint, and I can see the published WS in the NW CE Server. It does have an issue withe a FQDN but other than that tests OK from both systems' WS Nav. Only the NWDS 7.2 SP3 seems to not see it in the Service Repository.
I have confirmed the same results on a XP SP2 client system, and that I can get the default WS's from the CE server but nothing else.  The search also shows my ECC server as a search option through the CE server.
Can anyone shed light on this one?
    Thanks

    hi
check your configuration settings, whether you are connecting to service registry from visual composer or not.
as you are saying you have published the web service so service registry will show the service when you are connected to it
    Hope it may help
You can check this link for step by step tutorial.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/e0f78144-fb79-2d10-f986-97347155ec23
check all 4 parts for complete reference and process driven visual composer application.

  • Knowledge on ES workspace and Service Registry

    Hi All,
I am a webdynpro for java developer.
Recently I installed CE 7 1 EHP1. where I got ESR as well.
Kindly, provide me some information on ESR, and what is Service repository, how I can use them in NWDS CE 7 1 EHP1.
    Regards,
    Devender  V

    Hi,
When using services, we distinguish between the service provider and the service consumer. In the simplest case, we can assume that the service provideru2014the person who provides the servicesu2014knows the service requestor and informs the latter where services can be found. However, this contradicts the idea of a global service platform. What makes the use of Web Services attractive is the idea that applications can be built from services that are available in a central registry. This service can be provided with the Services Registry.
The Services Registry is a registry for Web services. Located centrally within an SOA landscape, it contains entries for all services and service definitions in that landscape, with references to the servicesu2019 relevant WSDL metadata and to the locations of the callable service endpoints. The registered services are classified using semantic-rich classification systems to enable browsing of services by classification.
The ES Workplace in the SAP Developer Network (SDN) provides a central source of information for getting to know Enterprise Services. It has a publicly available Services Registry.
Browse the enterprise services that are offered in the ES Workplace of the SAP Developer Network (at sdn.sap.com --> Enterprise SOA --> Explore Enterprise Services). By reading the detailed documentation of the enterprise services you can decide which services are useful in your applications.
You can use business objects from a SAP backend system, or from Visual Composer, for your Java Web Dynpro application. From the Enterprise Services Repository (ESR) in an SAP system, you retrieve the business object nodes and compound service interfaces. You import the Enterprise Services Model. (similar to the way you use Adaptive RFC or webservices models).
The detailed explaination is available in CE Library on help.sap.com.
Here are links on services registry & ESR ...related to CE 7.1.1 (ehp1):

    Hi Rajesh,
Many thanks for your prompt reply, however this note 1267817 was already applied before posting message.
B/W I have observed that in spite of the error the service published multiple times in the registry (perhaps each try to publish resulted a entry in SR).
Really crazy error, any other suggestion??
