Where is file?

1. Using iPhoto 5, I import my photos from my Nikon in RAW mode.
2. I create a new album.
3. I double click the image and modify it in Photoshop.
4. I save the image as a JPG.
The problem?
I cannot locate the JPG image either in my new album or in my photo library.
I do a search using Spotlight, and the image is located at:
paul>pictures>iPhoto library>2006>02>18
but I cannot seem to access the library above using iPhoto.
Please help. In previous versions of iPhoto, the saved image would save next to the original image in my album.

Hi Paul,
I don't do RAW, but I do have some links for you to check out that might help you. Some give info for iPhoto 5 and some for iPhoto 6.

  • Where are files for my applications kept? I'm trying to do a clean install.

    I have an intel imac OS 10.6.8. I have to do a clean install and need to transfer my files to a USB flashdrive because time machine hasn't backed up in 3 months. Where are files for my applications kept?

    Since you mentioned Time Machine, I'm assuming you have an external hard drive? So why not make a complete backup - either with Time Machine or a bootable clone with CarbonCopyCloner or SuperSuper? Applications sometimes transfer well, but not always - it depends how many files/parts they have on the hard drive in different locations. There is no simple answer to your question because of that - it depends on the individual application. I'd back up all of it, do the install, and then use Setup Assistant to port things back.

  • Why does Apple not want me to know where my files are?

    There is one aspect that I find absolutely ridiculous and frustrating on Mac-OS. When I'm in Apple applications, it is impossible to find out where the file I'm working on is. For example, I have multiple files in my system, in different directories, lets say direcotories AA and BB and the file is called FooBar.txt. I open one of them in TextEdit. Great. Now I want to know which file I'm editing, AA/FooBar.txt or BB/FooBar.txt.
    Traditionally, I would go to File and do a "Save As" and devine where the file is by where TextEdit thinks I need to save a new version of the file. Unfortunately, this is no longer available in Lion.
    Okay, I understand that Mac is now doing verisions and the "Save As" was a user hack ... but it worked. I have tried to go to the Files->Properties, no luck this is just metadata about the contents of the file entered by the user, not system metadata about where the file is located, its size, owner, etc. I do not want to have to make a Dupicate of the file just to find out where when I do the save its going to put the file. I don't want a duplicate, all I want to know is where is the file I'm currently looking at.
    I know this is all part of the mis-guided Apple idea that I shouldn't care about where my files are stored ala iPad and Apple iCloud and that I can find my files using Finder, but the reality of the situation is ... I do care where my files are stored. The files afterall belong to me not to Apple and Apple does allow me to have a directory tree structure which I choose to use to organize myself.
    Yes, I know that Finder is wonderful and to unsophisticated users, this is all they need. But for those of us who are more sophisticated, we want-to and need-to know where our files are. And, yes, we will have many files with duplicate names.
    As for Finder, I would like to be able to have a column dispolayed that lets me see where the files it found actual are. Then I want to sort on this. As far as I know, the only way to do this is to go to finder, type in the name of the file, then choose the Show all in Finder and then click on each file which then shows me a directory breadcrumbs on the botom of the screen. Again, this might be acceptable to the unsophisticated user, this is very awkward to the sophisticated user. Example, I find a file called xml.config. Great. I now want to not only edit the file but to open up a Terminal in the directoy where I found the file xml.config. Again, I know that a Terminal is not a thing an unsophisticated user wants-to or needs-to do. However, this is a feater of Mac-OS and I want to use it. yes, I can co through the Unix CD command and ultimately get there, but what a pain!!
    So, hopefully, all you very sophisticated users will just point me to the right settings, swtiches and commands to make my life easier or that your designers will try to look at the sophisticated use cases and provide us with new tools, commands and options to make our lives easier. At the present, these frustrations remind me of the Microsoft ... we know beter .. attitude. So please, proove me wrong ;-)

    While most likely not of interest to you, Spotlight can also tell you where the files it finds are located
    Hover the mouse pointer over the name, and press Command-Option and the path to the file will be displayed.
    As for opening a terminal session in the directory where a file is located, there is Applescripts that do just that as well as specific features in Lion/Mountain Lion terminal:

  • Where upload file is store through FileUpload UI at server ?

    Hi,
    Where upload file is store through FileUpload UI ? And How i access that server location ?

    Gurprit Bhatia
    Edited by: GURPRIT BHATIA on Jun 5, 2008 2:49 PM

    Hello Gurprit,
    the files are actually loaded into the server's memory. Please refer to the following document:
    [Uploading and Downloading Files in Web Dynpro Java|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b0e10426-77ca-2910-7eb5-d7d8982cb83f]
    If you want to store the contents to a file you would have to write custom java code for that. For a clustered environment I would suggest to store the data in a database instead.
    Kind regards

    Just adding more info - MacBookPro running 10.5.8 and using Safari as the browser.  The problem comes and goes - sometimes the linked Word files will open OK, n others its just a strring of crazy characters...

  • Where is file sharing in iTunes 12?

    Where is file sharing in iTunes 12? I used to click on the iPhone or iPad device, then select the 'apps' tab and then file sharing apps like VLC would show at the bottom. Now clicking on the device doesn't do anything.

    OK, I found it. In the upper left under the menu bar are some icons. Click on the iPhone icon, then select your device, iPad, iPhone, whatever. In the far left column that appears under your device, select apps. Then you'll see apps to the right of that column. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll find the file sharing apps.

  • Where REP files should be placed ?

    Hi All,
    I'm a newbie in Forms & Reports. Now I'm facing a situation. I have a form with the following procedure on button:
    RP2RRO.RP2RRO_RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS,'MYREPORT',SYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM,TO_CHAR(NULL),NULL);
    Whenever this button is pressed , a exception raises (Frm-40735: when-button=pressed trigger raise unhandled exception ora-06508). I think that exception is raised due to the location of MYREPORT.rep file. I don't know where it should be placed.
    That's is my question: Where *.rep files must be placed?
    I'm running Oracle Forms & Reports 11g R2 on Windows 7 64 bit.
    Thanks a lot.

    That would depend on the source directory of your reports server:

  • ORA-27054: NFS file system where the file is created or resides is not moun

    Linux Red Hat 4
    10.2.0.4
    Had this issue since someone unplugged the san on Monday, and the servers were rebooted. Trying to do a duplpicate to Reporting Server from Production. The error returned, once the backupsets are being copied, is
    ORA-27054: NFS file system where the file is created or resides is not mounted with correct options
    I have edited fstab in the way that the Doc 781349.1 suggests. I have unmounted the mount point and remounted. Themount is set up this way:
    /backup/PROD on /backup/PROD type nfs (rw,bg,hard,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,nfsvers=3,nointr,timeo=600,proto=tcp,addr=172.16.2.92)
    I have checked fstab and it has write permissions for the oracle user with which I run the duplicate command.
    I am able to browse, and create files on the /backup/PROD area.

    It is my understanding that the NFS mouting options necessary to support Oracle vary based on the hardware/OS in use.
    I have the following recored for a NetApp appliance
    hard,bg,rw,vers=3,proto=tcp,intr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,forcedirectio
    and this for a Linux Client
    rw,bg,hard,nointr,tcp,vers=3,timeo=300,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,actimeo=0
    I suggest your review your platform specific documentationa and any record you have from the origonal set up.
    You might just want to open a SR where you provide the specific hardware info and see if support can help after making another search for documents of interest.

  • RandomAccessFile on Server..Where is File Created?

    Hello Professionals:
    I have created an oracle trigger on a table during insert that passes the column contents to a java procedure that is intended to write this data to a RandomAccessFile. I am not sure where the file will be created on the Server. I created my java classes on an Oracle 8.1.6 database. My java class (and procedure) that writes the data to the file is indicated below. Your guidance is needed. Thanks.

    package mypackage1;
    import java.io.*;
    public class AddData
    public static void TriggerData(int v_id, String v_name)

    blank = new Record(v_id,v_name);
    try {
    RandomAccessFile file = new RandomAccessFile(fileName, "rw");
    file.seek(file.length());
    System.out.println("Just getting ready to write to file");
    blank.write(file);
    System.out.println("Just written data to file");
    System.exit(0);
    catch (IOException e){
    System.out.println("This is not a valid file");
    System.exit(1);
    public static void main(String[] args)

    // A class that represents one record of information.

    //import AccountRecord class from package!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    public class Record extends AccountRecord
    //String file = "TriggerData5.dat";
    public Record()
    this(25,"farting");
    public Record(int acct, String first)
    super(acct,first);
    //Read a record from the specified RandomAccessFile
    setAccount(file.readInt() );
    setFirstName(padName(file) );
    private String padName(RandomAccessFile f) throws IOExeption
    char name[] = new char [15], temp;
    for (int i = 0; i < name.length; i++) {
    temp = f.readChar();
    name[i] = temp;
    return new String(name).replace('\0',' ' );
    //Write a record to the specified RandomAccessFile
    public void write(RandomAccessFile file) throws IOException
    //file.seek(size());
    file.writeInt(getAccount() );
    writeName(file, getFirstName() );
    private void writeName(RandomAccessFile f, String name) throws IOException
    StringBuffer buf = null;
    if (name != null )
    buf = new StringBuffer(name);
    else
    buf = new StringBuffer(15);
    buf.setLength(15);
    f.writeChars(buf.toString() );
    /*//Not too sure if I need to have the main method here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    public static void main(String[] args)
    Record record = new Record();
    }

    per OracleJVM development: the file will be created with a root of $ORACLE_HOME if the filename is not an absolute
    path. The writer must have the proper permissions to write the file. All subdirectories, if any in the path name, must exist or an
    exception will be thrown.
    My guess is that they would get written into the user_dump_dest directory.
    Probably a question that will be answered most quickly by the RDBMS forum,
    or by a quick test on your database with a file with a well-known name.

  • ? Where is "file - export" when running iPhoto

    I have tried to read other comments regarding changing the size of photos.
    Most of my photos are 2 to 3 MB. I want to reduce a few to 480,000 bytes.
    (aka 800 x 600) (aka 4:3). I have read several similar questions, and all of
    them come down to "file -> export". Where is "file"?
    Thank you,
    Charles

    The File menu is on top of the screen like in every Mac app.
    Note: 800 x 600 pixels is not 480,000 bytes. There is no direct link between the number of pixels in an image and the amount of storage space it uses.

    If you are running Lion or Mountain Lion you may need to do the following to access the same utility:
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. • How do you know where your files are if you save them in the wrong place?

    I have tons of video files for example.
    I want to watch the video I downloaded off the net about airplanes.
    I type in airplanes in spotlight, and many come up.
    they are quicktime files.
    but when I go to quicktime and try to delete by clicking on files, it does not
    show me comprehensively where these files are stored.
    Similarly, If i type in Geese, in spotlight, the same thing happens.
    But geese, and airplanes are not near each other. Which brings me to wonder.
    How many videos do I have stored in here anyway??
    How do I find ALL my videos? And erase what I need to and store what I need to away in thier proper place?
    I hope that makes sense.

    Use the custom Find window, AKA "Smart Folder". See in the Finder menubar under the "File" menu the selection "New Smart Folder".
    Typically files have an "extension", or a filename suffix that identifies what kind of file it is. Quicktime movies might have a ",mov" suffix, so type the suffix in the Smart Window search field or tell it to search "Kind" as "Movies".
    When you get the window full of found files, select the ones you want to move and drag them to the "Movies" folder.
