Where is Flash PLayer located?

I have downloaded flash player 11.1,102.55 several times.  It does not show up in my "All Programs" search nor is it listed in the Program files\Adobe folder.  It does appear in the control panel uninstall listing.  My .flv files are opened by the Wiindows viewer which does not work.  I have used the search feature for "Flash player" and it finds nothing.  I am using Windows 7 64 bit OS and Internet Explorer 9.  I have only had this computera few months and Flash Player has never worked.  Here is the last entry in the flashInstall.log

Thank you for your quick reply.  I may be mistaken about the .flv file
type.  I am trying to view Youtube files and was told the file type is
.flv

My .flv files are opened by the Wiindows viewer which does not work.
To play .flv files requires the Flash projector not the web Flash Play.

Does the web Flash Player work on web videos?

  • Where are Flash Player system prefs kept (OS X)?

Does anyone know where the Flash Player System Preferences are kept? I'm refering to where it stores the preferences for the options in System Preferences in OS X? I'm trying to remote-deploy 11.3.x on 30+ machines and would like to have the "allow Adobe to install updates" option set in preferences via a script so I don't have to manually set this on each machine. If I can find out where these preferences are stored, then I'm good, but trying to find this in the zillion folders and sub-folders installed on a machine is proving a task in itself...

  • Where Is Flash Player Used?

    1. Where is Flash Player used?
I am wondering when I am using Flash Player.
    2. How can I know when I'm using Flash Player?
    3. Am I using Flash Player when I:
    a. Play a Facebook game?
    b. Watch a You Tube video?
    c. Watch a Vimeo video?
    d. Watch a video on any news website like CNN or ABC?
    e. Watch a video on any other website?
    f. Other

The easiest way to check for a video is to right click on the video's screen.  You'll see some reference to Flash Player, as noted:
I'm not sure if this works for games, since I don't play any, but you can try.

  • Can't find Flash Player location

I have a flash video file (.FLV) on my desktop.  When I double-click to launch, Windows pops up to ask for a program association, naturally.  But when I browse for Flash Player, it isn't listed.  I could navigate thru Windows Explorer to the file - but I can't find it! (At least, it's not in Windows\System32\Adobe or Macromed - neither of those folders exist).  Control Panel>Uninstall Programs shows both Adobe Flash Player - ActiveX and AFP - Firefox Plugin as being installed - but no location is given.  And Control>Change File Associations does not even list a .FLV file type.
Where is AFP 10 installed to?  And how can I associate the file type?

Add ons: (after my last update, some info has changed...This is the current one)
    Shockwave Flash Object: Enabled
    Shockwave ActiveX Control: Enabled
    Adobe PDF Link Helper: Enabled
    Adobe PDF Reader: Enabled
DLM Control: Enabled:: Publisher: Control name not available
    Then some Microsoft Add ons
In between all this I came across Flash player 8 (not adobe) in my Backup files. And I removed it. I tried searching for it and it does not show, so I am assuming, it has been removed.
There was a Adobe download manager, which i uninstalled...Therez no other DLM as of now, but as u see in the add ons, it shows ( so am pretty confused here)
Yeah...also, i have to keep deleting my downloaded files in windows folder, everytime i download.
And no, therz no message while installing. it says successfully installed. I  tried from the site directly and still nothing.
And thanks so much, for all the patience.

  • Where are flash player parameters stored?

    Hello,
when we modifiy our parameters for flash player here: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager05.htm l
where are these parameters stored in the computer? because i want to delpoy my parameters on all the computers in my enterprise.
    Thanks
PS: Sorry for my bad English, i speak french

It depends on the settings. Some you can control, some you cannot.
What you need is the FLash Player Admin guide:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide.html
That will help you figure out how to reach your goal of adjusting settings network-wide..

  • Debug Flash Player Location

I have looked everywhere but I cannot find the error log file for the debug version of the flash player.  I am running windows 7 in parallels
    Areas I have checked
C:\Users\curtisshmigelsky\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player    (supposed to be a log file location here)
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
Any ideas on this would be awesome.

I would like to raise a discussion again because new version of Vizzy Flash Traces has been released recently. Among the new cool features and improvements I would like to point out couple of them.
The first one is possiblity to double click stack trace exceptions which will lead you to the source file being opened (and a proper line highlighted in case your AS editor supports that. FlashDevelop users already have).Don't want to double click? Move the mouse over the stack trace and you will get a popup with a piece of source code in that place.
Also, all http and file:/// links are clickable. No code modifications is required or some sort of other tweaks.
Another cool feature requires some tiny code modifications, but this is worth of it. Replace all 'trace' statements with 'trc' in your code and you will be able to open corresponding source file that contains that trace statement with double click! Of course, you will have to link a swc to your project.
P.S. and yes, mac users finally got a native executable
    Vizzy Flash Tracer

  • Where's Flash Player 9 for my x86_64 linux?

I'm waiting for that plugin for so long. I can't view
anything it's made in Flash 8 or 9. Last days, you finally release
player for x86 linux, but what about 64 bit?? Why are you release
player's for Windows so quickly and make Linux users wait. Are they
    better or what??

You still need a 32-bit browser to use Flash Player because
the library is compiled for the 32-bit ABI. This shouldn't be a
problem if you use a standards compliant distro. The x86_64
architecture is a multilib architecture. Ergo, if you are using a
standards compliant distro, it will support both the 32-bit and
64-bit ABI side-by-side. There's really no reason to provide a
64-bit version when the 32-bit version works just fine.
Here are two ways to get Flash Player 9 installed on the
x86_64 architecture. You can apply this
    patch
to the installer before executing. Or you can edit the installer
script and comment out the line that causes it to exit. Look for
this section in the installer (around line 250) and comment out the
    exit_cpu $TEMPARCH line.
    i[3456]86)
    ARCH=i386
    exit_cpu $TEMPARCH
    esac
The installer is being too stringent in excluding the x86_64
architecture. It really should look for the 32-bit program
interpreter if it detects an x86_64 architecture and only exit if
THAT isn't found. Of course, that would be no guarantee that a
32-bit browser existed on the target machine.

  • Adobe Flash Player 10.1 issues, errors with Quickbooks Pro 2010 installation

I recently - uh today - had an agonizing experience installing Quickbooks Pro 2010 because I kept receiving error messages during the Quickbooks installation. It was a new cd that I had purchased a few months ago from Costco, and had been putting off using it, or even installing it.
So today, I tried to install it, and failed repeatedly. I kept getting the same message, Adobe Flash player file is unavailable - with a drop down screen showing the location of the flash player file that the installation software was trying to find so it could continue the installation. I think I recall seeing an error message originally with Adobe Flash Player 10.1, but it's been a long day, so maybe the error was always referring to Flash Player 8.0.  I tried to browse for a new location that the Flash Player file might be located, looking through the Program Files\Adobe and coming up with nothing.
I spent a long time looking through the discussion forums on both Quickbooks and Adobe trying to find the answer, also turning off and on my computer,  ha. And I installed the latest Flash version, Flash Player 10.1, then uninstalled it and then reinstalled it, and then uninstalled it and looked for the obsolete Flash Player 8.0 which I couldn’t find on Adobe’s website, but found links to in two other forums…So basically, I tried to solve this on my own, and it didn't work.
So...I was whining to a friend who suggested I just call Quickbooks technical support. Duh, why didn't I think of that? I guess because the packaging on the new software says that fees may apply if you call customer service.  Well, it doesn't apply to the first call, and also it's crazy to charge someone who can't even install the program. So I called them, and was on hold forever.
    But the problem was solved.
The tech support person, Manish, was able to install Quickbooks by completely bypassing the usual installation procedure.  He checked for compatibility, which was fine, I have Windows XP, etc. and then I believe went to control panel, add or remove programs, and clicked on add programs, and followed the icons with the Wizard to install the latest version of Quickbooks.  The interesting thing here is that QB has some special download to allow remote access during a trouble shooting call. It initially freaked me out, but it worked just fine, since I could see what was happening on my computer screen even though I wasn't the one operating the computer.
I asked Manish why this installation method seemed to work. He said some of the Quickbooks cds have a bad Flash Player program file, and doing it this way seems to bypass it. He also said that Quickbooks should not compatibility issues with Flash 8.0 or Flash 10.1, but there were some problems noted with Flash Player 9.0.  I asked if I would have problems if I uninstalled Flash Player 8.0 and then reinstalled 10.1. He said there shouldn’t be problems, so that’s what I just finished doing.
Hopefully this is helpful for someone else out there in cyberland.
Also, it was kind of helpful, someone else posted on another forum that you could check what flash files you have by going to C:\Windows\System 32\Macromed\Flash, because I couldn’t even find where the Flash Player was installed.  They are not in the Program files under Adobe.

Hi, well that sounds like quite an ordeal. Your Flash files are located in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash with a right click and post back all files listed there. It may be a good idea to just confirm that they are correct.
Then Using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Manage addons and Toolbars & Extensions and look for a box Show all add ons.
You should find Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control..Flash10h.ocx and make sure it is enabled.
The Flash files and that ActiveX Control is Flash Player.
Now if you use another browser, you may want to post that version info as well. Also, what service pack do you have with XP?
    Thanks,

  • How is one to safely deal with the "Update Adobe Flash Player" Pop-Up?

Good computer security practice would be to *not* click on anything in the unexpected pop-up, but instead close that window and then either:
Go to the Adobe site and download the "Update" from there -- but the site never offers "updates", it just offers downloads of the product.
Open the cited application on one's computer and use its "update" process -- but I can never find the most recent Adobe Flash Player application on my Mac.  I've used Adobe's Update process multiple times in the past and the result is multiple old versions of Adobe Flash Player scattered around, but the latest version which the Adobe Flash Player test site at URL:  http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/   says that I have is nowhere to be found.  Right now, running that test on my Mac results in the feedback:  "You have version 11,0,1,152 installed"
If one does click on the "INSTALL" button in the pop-up, is the Adobe "update" process which is to run supposed to just add another "new" version of Adobe Flash Player (in some non-intuitive place), or is it also to remove the older versions, or at least the most recent older version, of Adobe Flash Player?
Is there some predictable default location where Adobe Flash Player should be installed on Mac OS X?

The download does EXACTLY what the "update" does... it downloads the full new version (about 3.6mb) and OVERWRITES the older version.
In your Library/Application Support/Adobe folder (I forget just exactly where) the plug-in installs for your installed browsers.  The updater overwrites the files there.

  • Installed Flash player on my Mac osx 10.5.8 but doesn't work

The installation went fine. I've actually installed it over and over again. But programs that require it (show up as a browse button for photos) don;t work. I can't see where the flash player is installed on my computer either. Please help. Thanks, Hilary

Call Apple and file a formal complaint, it's Apple that is not supplying security or patches to 10.5 users and expects everyone to be computer guru's.
16.5% of Mac users are on 10.5 and Apple just denies security and stability updates to force you to upgrade your OS or your hardware prematurely.
There is a massive botnet of over 600,000 Mac's and the prime location is on 10.5 Intel Mac's which they refuse to fix.
Appe's "solution" is for you to upgrade your operating system to 10.6 or even 10.7 (this will make your machine slow and won't run a lot of your software, another "problem")
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
IMO 10.6  would be best for you, the least trouble, but you bought a Mac for it to "just work" as your not "into" computers, your just a regular user like most Apple's customers.
So call Apple and complain, then buy the 10.6.3 retail disk and stick it into your machine and upgrade and cross your fingers and update to 10.6.8.
Backup your persona data off the machine first to a storage drive and disconnect.
 Most commonly used backup methods explained
Once your on 10.6.3 use software update to get to 10.6.8, then you can install Flash.
