What version of Office/Word are you describing?
What version and service pack of Windows are you describing?
What are the repro steps that you’re doing when using Microsoft voice recognition with Word that involves pronouncing so many spaces between words?
Can you give an example of the sentence/paragraph you're speaking?
What is the behavior you want to see when using Microsoft voice recognition with Word?

Speech recognition freezing

I downloaded the "Serena" voice (from the UK) for my speech recognition system and when I use the voice my speech recognition freezes. When I use the default voices I don't have a problem. How can I make Serena's voice work?

I think you mean "Text to speech"? Alex is the new text to speech voice.
If you go into system preferences > Speech > Text to speech and select "Alex" and then press the "Play" button on the right of the next line down does it announce itself correctly? If it doesn't speak at all then you might have an installation problem and need to re-install.
You could also try quitting from System Preferences and opening Finder, then go into your home directory then Library then Preferences and deleting the file "com.apple.speech.voice.prefs.plist". Then open up System Preferences and select the "Alex" voice again and see if that helps.

Where is the forum for the Microsoft Store?

I placed an order for Microsoft hardware which has a 30 day evaluation period. Unfortunately, one of the items is back ordered. I used the online chat to request an extension of the 30 day period for the hardware that was shipped to start when
the last of the hardware shipped. The representative was either not authorized to do that or did not understand my request.
If I don't get an extension of the evaluation period for the hardware that did ship to allow me to evaluate the entire package (with the hardware that is back ordered) I will have to return what I have received and then immediately order the exact same equipment.
This is not only not logical it is stupid.
So where is the forum that I can raise this issue in?

Windows Speech Recognition Macros - Wait for Second Command

Hello all. 'm terribly sorry if this was posted in the wrong forum. Let me know where to put it and I'll move it accordingly.
I'm working with Windows Speech Recognition Macros, and I've got a question. Is there ANY way to write a macro that is triggered when the user says something (<listenFor></listenFor>), has the computer say something back to the user (<speak></speak>)
and then waits a number of seconds for a specific command from the user? An example of what I'm saying would be something like....
(I named my computer Aurora)
ME: Aurora, close all windows.
AURORA: Command received. Confirming close all windows.
*WAIT*
ME: Confirm.
AURORA: Command confirmed. Closing all windows.
or something along those lines to create some sort of dialogue between the computer and I. Is this acheiveable through the use of Speech Recognition Macros, or would I need to design a program that integrates Windows Speech Recognition to do this (if so,
point me in the right direction)? Or worse, am I asking too much from a simple Speech Recognition program?

If you are asking if you can add wait commands to WSRMacros I do not see why you need a separate program. The Toolkit developed for WSR allows easy creation of WSRMacros and nesting of multiple macros using the Pause Execution command which inserts
your choice of the length of the Wait state.
For writing your own Wait state command, see the MSDN article on the Wait state command. I tried inserting the link but it won't activate because my account has not yet been approved.

Recommendations for Medical/Scientific Speech Recognition

I was not sure which forum would be most appropriate for this, but does anyone have experience with Mac Speech recognition in the biomedical area? I have been using Dragon Dictate on a PC to dictate clinic notes. This was a godsend, since the vocabulary is complex and hard to type, especially when really tired. The medical vocabulary actually did better on obscure terminology (it got "pinguecula" but has trouble with "cane"). It seems that Dragon on Mac is defunct and I see mixed reviews of ViaVoice and iListen. Everyone would be happier if they didn't have to read my terrible handwriting, so any help here would be appreciated. thanks, -robin colgrove

I too am looking for speech recognition software. I searched the Apple Forums and of course found references to:

But I didn't find any posts from any, actual
b users
of the above software. And ViaVoice, developed by IBM, but now distributed by Scansoft, of Dragon NaturallySpeaking fame, doesn't appear to have been updated since at least 2003, and doesn't appear to be Tiger-compatible, or at least that's what I made from the website and the date of the last downloadable mac update.
Also I watched a recent vidcast interview with David Pogue, author of Tiger the Missing Manual et al, where he said he uses NaturallySpeaking (available only for PCs) to dictate the text in his (mac and pc) books. Ouch! You'd think that if the Mac speech recognition products were equally good, he'd be using one of them instead?
Finally, Rebecca Freed, PCWorld's 'Mac Skeptic' columnist, posted this review in Dec 2004: Talk Back to Your Mac, which ends:
"I would need a compelling reason--such as a hand injury or a professional need to dictate while doing something else--to spend more than $100 to purchase either one."

Best speech recognition software for Mac?

What is the best speech recognition software available for a Mac? I want to be able to control my computer by voice while I lecture. I am aware of Dictate but hoping there is something better on the market.

The problem is a matter of market. Good speech recognition software is expensive to develop, and it's a small market. Even smaller for Macs. MacSpeech has been providing speech recognition products for several years, now, and Dictate is their newest product having been licensed from Dragon. This is the best speech recognition software available on either platform.

Yes here is the 2013 version.

I believe both are for 32 bit LabVIEW, which works in both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows. Honestly until all toolkits support 64 bit Windows, I still don't see much of a reason to go with 64 bit LabVIEW. The support is just better with 32 bit.

Speech Recognition Software for OS X 10.4.8?

Does anyone know if there is any software available for the Intel Mac (running OS X 10.4.8) that has speech recognition-perhaps the equivilent to 'Dragon Naturally Speaking' by Nuance Communications? I am specifically looking for an application that converts speech into text.
I know that the version of Microsoft Word I use can convert text to speech, I just need to be able to convert speech into a text document.

BPC for Microsoft platform vis-a-vis BPC for Netweaver

What are the key differences (apart from platform) between BPC for SAP Netweaver & BPC for Microsoft platform? BPC 7.0 is integrated with Outlooksoft whereas BPC (based on Netweaver 7.5) needs Business Object. Is this understanding correct?
Which is a more a stable version? Appreciate if related URLs/ OSS Notes are shared.

From functionalities point of view are justfew slight sifferences between M and NW version of SAP BPC.
Just into background is the difference that M version is using just Microsoft technologies:
.NET Application Server developed into .NET technologies
OLAP database using SSAS from Microsoft
Relational Database using SQL Server database
and NW version is using standard SAP technologies:
ABAP application server
OLAP datbase - part of BW
Relational Database - any database supported by NW
Regarding the performances between the two versions I will say it is depending by number of users and volume of data but in general are not big differences. If the design of application is done correct following the Best Practices documentantion I think the performances are more anlless the same.
In any case I don't see any reason to have both version of SAP BPC M and NW version.
You have to decide the right version function by IT requirements and future developments using NW or Microsoft technologies.
But it doesn't make sense to have BPC M and BPC NW for the same customer.
