Where is Fringe Color Selector Tool in CS6/Camera Raw 7.3?

I have been reading "The Digital Negative" and on page 100 it references the Finge Color Selector tool when talking about the Lens Correction menu's color tab and how to remove color fringing. They talk about an eye dropper tool that you select but I don't see it on my color tab. Where should I be looking for it? The book indicates it should be on this color tab (I tried the dropper tool found across the top of the image but that was not the right one). Using PS CS6 with all updates on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I will try to insert a screen capture of that tab below. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the reply and help. What had me confused and thinking I was missing some functionality/a tool was the text on page 99, "You pick up the tool by clicking it." When I saw your graphic (red "A") showing the graphic of the dropper tool and then next graphic where the tool graphic has disappeared (red "B") I thought it was indicating I needed to find an actual place/graphic in the panel to click to activate the tool as opposed to the "preview" via the Alt key you later reference on page 100.
Could you please tell me when the panel like on page 99 (noted as red "C") is supposed to appear? I also see a similar panel appear on page 101 but have yet to have it display during defringing even after using your guidance to use the Alt button.

You should update your camera raw plugin to version 8.3
Help>Updates from within photoshop and apply any other updates offered as well.

I have looked at all of my settings both in Bridge and CS6 Photoshop regarding Camera Raw. I am at a loss how to set the crop tool in cm or inches as I once did - now the only option is to crop using ratios of 1:1 etc etc - This is infuriating as lots of my square crops I could set at 10" x 10'' specifically to print one to one to fit frame and mount size -
Now if cropping using bloody aspect ratio of 1:1 (square) the actual dims of the crop are roughly 4.25 inches x 4.25 inches. this means I then have to open the whole image in photoshop in order to crop at the dims I have set! It was so much quicker in terms of batch cropping in camera raw being able to set dims in centimetres and inches but they have gone and mucked around with it, with the new bloody update! Unless you are an absolute genius and know how I can go back to having an option of CM, Inches and aspect ratio within the custom crop settings? (Please say you do)

Updated ps cs6 camera raw to 8.4 on mac os 10.5.8 now cannot revert to 8.2 to view and open cr2 files. I would rather not uninstall any programs, would rather remove manually and install 8.2. I Have several adobe programs and no clue where serial numbers are to even think about uninstalling all to reinstall, just to fix a plug in. Please help

It's a bit of a work around, but you can uninstall PS CS6 [and perform a clean install / don't update the software afterwards for camera raw] and manually install the CR 8.2 update:

kglad is right the update 8.4 should not result in issues. Please check the Photoshop Family Customer Community for issues.

I seem to remember seeing an article that stated i would have to uninstall and re-install CS6 Photoshop completely and re-install again. However I cannot find this article now.
If the above is true, having PS version CS4 with update CS5 & 6 installed, would i have to remove all PS versions.
Photoshop error message just states download latetest software version, which i have done with ACR 7.4. I have also tried ACR 8 which did open file either.
Also when ACR8 is hosted by Photoshop CS6, it does not offer any of the new features described in Photoshop CC marketing materials for ACR8 (Re: DPReview mag) so i returned to 7.4
Adobe DNG runs OK but i would rather deal with the original file in ACR rather than adding an additional step with more files to keep track of.
Is there a way of uninstalling all versions of ACR, cleaning system and re-installing ACR, assuming the fault lies with ACR?
Anyone have any answers?

Half an hour after posting this query (in the wrong forum) I resolved the issue. The fault lies with Nikon Transfer.
Nikon Transfer corrupts the D800 NEF files. Apparently Nikon Transfer is well known for causing errors.
Drag & dropping the files direct from the memory card onto your hard drive and everything works fine.

When you try to open in PS what happens?
In Bridge do you see icons or thumbnails?
Will it open in ACR in Bridge?

When I try to open CS6 camera raw I get an error abou the parent application not bein active.

Actually there are two problems. 1) When I try to open a picture in CS6 camera raw I get this error "Bridge's parent application is not active. Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature. My second problem is that I'm unable to open Ps without getting a window to get the creative cloud. If I close the window it closed Ps.
How do I fix these two problems?

Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try to disable Protected Mode [Edit | Preferenes | Security (Enhanced)].

See for yourself which version of ACR is needed for that camera’s RAW files

then check your version (Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw).
Your version of Photoshop does not support that version of ACR.
You could use the free DNG Converter.

Opening Adobe CS6 Camera Raw images from Nikon D800

My computer is not connected to the internet and I am unable to download the Nikon D800 Camera Raw 7.1 Update plug-in to allow me to open Adobe CS6 Camera Raw files. Can I get a CD with the required 7.1 update?

As the Canon G15 is a very new model, support is not yet available through Camera Raw. In the meantime, try out the software that came with you camera, to see if it can export a TIF or JPEG, which should open up in Photoshop just fine.
Hopefully support for the G15 will be available in the next Camera Raw update. You can find a list of supported cameras here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.html

Need help with color replacement tool ps CS6

I am trying to use the color replacement tool to change the color of a shirt on a picture. I have choosen white as the foreground color, but when I go to paint it comes out grey.... I tried using colors from the swatch and the same thing is happening. When I choose a different color say red for example... the color that gets painted is some version of red but not the red that I have chosen.
What am I missing?

Funny never had to use that tool before. Anyway, what I found play with that tool was the color applied is totally dependent on the luminosity of the color below it. It other words it protects highlights and shadows for example. Which would block it from creating pure white.
To see how this works, the color adjustment layer has an option to preserve luminosity.
But in the end, you will use hue/saturation as it provides greater control. Plus you can clip to a layer or use a mask on it. Can't beat all that non-destructive process going on.
