Where is i DVD on mountain lion OS

Where is i DVD on mountain lion OS

i DVD doesn't run on OS 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion) even if you can install it.
IDVD is tested for compatibility with Mountain lion.
I have OS 10.8.2, iDVD works perfectly.  (I use it with iMovie 06).

  • I have a mac pro 1,1. I would like to know if its possible for me to upgrade the parts to where i can install osx mountain lion, or osx mavericks?

I have a mac pro 1,1. I would like to know if its possible for me to upgrade the parts to where i can install osx mountain lion, or osx mavericks? I am currently adding more ram so it will have 32gb of ram, i have 2 250gb HDD but adding a 250gb SSD , and have a ATI Radeon HD 4870 512mb that i will most likely upgrade to an ATi Radeon HD 5570 1gb.

The SSD will boot fast, but the real change is launching 10 programs in 10 seconds and being able to use them. (20 seconds for a few big suites).
I would not add or upgrade to 32GB RAM. You can get 8 x 2GB for $100 on Amazon.
Those 250GB HDD are "old" and slow and overdue to be replaced, reformat and use t o backup the system.
Samsung 250GB SSD is down to $150 or so on Amazon also.
The 5770 is gone, hard to find, EOL and over charged for when you do find one.
you could look into how to use a PC 6870 or others.
Or, you could hold out and wait for a refresh of Mac-Mini which can be just as fast or faster and run Mavericks.

  • Where can I find my mountain lion installer included with 2012 mac mini

I just bought a 2012 mac mini and I want to install mountain lion on an SSD that I bought separately.  Where can I find the mountain lion installer file to create a bootable USB install drive?  When I go to the mac app store, mountain lion is not listed in my purchases and when I try to buy it, it says "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer."  It's already installed on the mac mini, I just need the installer file so I can install it on my SSD.

You might be able to simply boot into the ML Recovery HD, select Reinstall OS X and point to your SSD drive. You won't capture the InstallESD.dmg file to create a USB thumb drive installer.
OR.... to create a USB thumb drive of your pre installed ML, you would need to redownload Mountain Lion then grab the InstallESD.dmg file and create your USB thumb drive. Here is how I've done it using Internet Recovery to get my pre installed OS X.
Attach a USB external drive to your system. Formated as Mac OS Extended (Journal) and GUID partition table.
Restart using Command+R+Option to boot into Apple's Recovery HD. This will get you the original version. Or just Command+R to boot into your ML Recovery HD.
Select Reinstall OS X from the OS X Utilities menu.
You will  have to watch the download. After it completes and your system restarts, at the black screen disconnect the external USB drive.
After you are back to your current desktop, insert the external USB drive. There should be a single folder on the drive called 'Install Data' (I think). Find the InstallESD.dmg file and copy it to a folder on your current system (Downloads, for example).
Follow any of the internet instructions to create a ML USB thumb drive.
I tried this method, and while it did get me the installer image, when I restored it to an external and tried to use it to restore a Late 2012 Mac Mini, I got the same "No" symbol I did with other ML installers.
Here are some screenshots of what was loaded onto my external before I yanked it, when the screen turned black durring the restart. The highlighted file is what I restored to my external to use to restore the Mac Mini.

  • I live in a rural area where I need to get Mountain Lion on CD/DVD.  Will Apple do that?

I live in a rural area where Mobile Broadband is my only internet access.  Since I have to pay $10/GB, downloads can get really expensive.  Mountain Lion is 4GB and that's not even the largest thing I've had to download.  Why can't Apple make a DVD available for those of us who are loyal customers and live in disadvantaged areas?  I have an iMac 24 and don't feel like lugging it to the next town so I can download my operating system in a coffee bar.  I realize that this gives apple much more control against piracy, but not all of their loyal customers (and we're talking about over 30-years in my case) are going to do that.

Get an USB thumbdrive large enough for the installer, go to town, download the installer, and copy it to the thumbdrive.

  • How do I get MS Office 2011 to install from DVD on Mountain Lion?

I just did a clean install of OS X Mountain Lion from a prepared bootable SD-Card on a new partition of my harddrive and wanted to install Microsoft Office 2011 using the original disc. But after double clicking the installer icon nothing happened besides the rainbow colored spinner showing up and disappearing shortly after and my optical drive making some noise. Activity Monitor indicated that the process of the Installer application doesn't react so I had to force quit it. I tried it multiple times to install MS Office this way using the disc but the problem persisted, also after a reboot.
So far my system is still in a pretty fresh state since I installed hardly any separate apps yet and the most intrusive one of them is probably merely Sophos. OS X's Installer app worked the way it should when I was installing iLife the day before using the Applications Install DVD that came with my Mac.
When I installed Office 2011 the first time, presumably one year ago on another partition on the same Mac which was running OS 10.6, everything worked fine and the same is true for the time when I upgraded to OS 10.7 (although I didn't install Office again, I just kept everything on the same partition).
So is there anyone out there who experienced similiar problems and can please help solve this problem?

Well, that depends on what you mean when you say "verified". But as I wrote in the first post I was able to install iLife from disc on Mountain Lion without much ado. And just now I tested a DVD with some pictures on it and the disc drive would read and display all photos in Preview.
And given the facts that I rarely use my optical drive at all and that my machine is only little more than a year old, a drive failure seems quite unlikely. But thanks for your response anyway!

  • Where is Logic folder in mountain lion

Where do I put my Sampler Instruments, Plug-In Settings, etc..... in Mountain Lion?

    User/Library>Music>Audio Music Apps>Sampler instruments.
Give it a try, I'm not clear about what you're trying to achieve.  I personally don't have hardly more than a few "samples" that I have edited in EXS24.  So then I just import them from those projects when I want to use them in new projects.
There are much more knowledgable peeps than me, and I imagine your problem can be solved!

  • Where can I get a mountain lion download or disk. Mavericks I need to downgrade

I upgraded to Maverick when it came out. Unfortunately, I did not have a backup of the disk with Mountain lion on it. The laptop came with mountain lion preloaded. How can I get another copy?
    <Subject Edited by Host>

If your Mac came new with Mt Lion Pre-Installed it will always be available to you.
You have to boot the computer to the Online Internet recovery system by holding down the Command + Option/Alt + r key at startup and hold them down until you see a globe on the screen. That willl boot the computer from the Apple servers from across the internet. Once that fully loads you can use Disk Utility to repartition the drive as one partition to remove all traces of Mavericks and then use the other option, once you exit disk utility, to Reinstall Mac OS X and Mt Lion will be downloaed from the internet.
You can also use that same system, once Mt Lion is reinstalled on your hard drive, to save a copy of the download and make your own Mt Lion reinstall DVD or Thumb drive. Google search for make your own Lion, Mt Lion reiinstall thumb drive for directions.

Hoe can I get the mosaic screen saver in New mountain lion? It was the only one I liked and the new ones now are just plain crap. Is there anyway to get it back or can I purchase it? And if so where?

I have not figured it out either. I share your pain. I used mosaics as my only screensaver in Lion and before, and more than any other feature it cause envy by any Windows users who saw it in action.  PLEASE, PLEASE BRING IT BACK!

  • Where is my OS X Mountain Lion? Where is my iphoto?

I purchased my computer 4 months ago and have had nothing but troubles since. When I bought it I think I downloaded OS X Mountain Lion for free, either that or my computer came with it. After several attempts from Geek Squad at Best Buy to fix my computer, they finally reset the computer back to factory settings. Now I do not have OS X Mountain Lion and cannot figure out how to download it for free (Because if I had to download it in the first place, I downloaded it for free), and I do not have iphoto. This is my second Macbook, and the first one I remember having to purchase ilife to get iphoto. And I know with my second one (the macbook pro) I never had to purchase it. I'm soooo lost......any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can download it from the App Store - located under the Apple menu item or in your Applications folder. Just log on using the same ID that you used to access this forum. Your username and password are the same. Do a search for "osx lion" and you'll see it in the upper left hand corner. Mine just says "download" because I've already downloaded it. Your's may say "Buy" but try holding down the option key when you click on Buy and see if it changes to Download. When you have a fresh copy of Lion, I suggest that you use Lion DiskMaker to make a bootable USB flash drive and/or a bootable DVD.
You might want to try to download iPhoto the same way. It might be a download or it might ask you to pay. DON'T pay for it - you're entitled to it with your 4-month-old computer.
If you're unable to travel the 2 hours to an Apple Store, take your computer back to BB and tell them that you want your iLife '11 applications.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Problem sharing DVD from Mountain Lion

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my MACBookPro to OS X Mountain Lion and now I can't seem to see the shared DVD from my MAC Mini running OS 10.7.4 (Lion).
I can share the HDD contents of either machines and the MACBook Pro can see the MAC Mini's DVD drive so it works one way round. It worked fine the evening before the upgrade to Mountain Lion.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

After much web browsing etc I have found a solution:
the page at http://www.mac-guides-and-solutions.com/dvd-sharing.html tells you how to do the basic setup using the sharing preferences in the MAC settings menu. Then at the end it tells you what to do if it does not work:
Basically you enter 2 shell commands to set other application defeaults the commands are:
defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser EnableODiskBrowsing -bool true
defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser ODSSupported -bool true
can't say that it will work for anyone else so use it at your own risk, but it has cured my problem. Seems it's  the users prefernces and so needs to be entered for each user.
If anyone can tell me how to do this for all users on a machine that would help.

  • MBP won't read burned DVDs after Mountain Lion upgrade

Well, I think this is the last Macintosh I'll be owning. I've really had it. And now with the decision to cancel the 17" laptop, what's my inscentive to stick around?
OK, rant over. I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion. All went fine, however, I did not notice until today that the machine will no longer read my previously-burned DVDs. The machine thinks they are blank DVDs! Interesting that I can insert a movie DVD and it reads/plays fine.
Has anyine else had this problem? Is there a solution?
    Thanks-

What version is Pages? If you have at least Pages 4.0.5, try deleting the preference file. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences, delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist file & then restart Pages. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your user Library will appear about halfway down the list.
If you're version of Pages is older, try updating.

  • Brand New 2013 mac mini - where is my copy of mountain lion?

    Hi,
I have a brand new Mac Mini.
Were do I find my copy of Mountain Lion for me to make a USB installer for emergencies?
If I have to download a copy from the Appstore I will be very unimpresed!!!
    thanks,
    Matt

The newer version of os x are download only. There is a recovery hd partition on the internal drive that allows you to connect to the apple servers to download and install os x. Or you can use the internet recovery system to boot the system from across the internet to do the same thing. For the built in recovery hd you hold down the command+r keys at startup and for the internet recovery system you hold down the command+option+r keys until a globe comes on the screen. From either system you can then use disk utility to erase or repartition a drive and then reinstall mac os x on that drive or any drive connect to the system.
You can also download the os and make your own usb install thumb drive. There are many websites with instuctions on how to do that.

  • Where can I download OSX Mountain Lion.  I'd purchased it in the past and now my purchases list only shows Maverick.

I'd purchased Mountain Lion on release date and Maverick on release date as well.  I realized my old Macbook Pro (late 2007) is supported by Mountain Lion, so I want to upgrade it from 10.6.8.  However, in the App Store purchases I only see Maverick and search the App Store doesn't bring up Mountain Lion.

I tried that on both the old machine (10.6.8) and new one (10.9.2) and see just Maverick.  I'm logged in the same Apple account for both.  I see that I made the purchase in my receipts on July 26, 2012.
