Where is Insert File Name?

In pages 09, you can insert file name (Insert menu), e.g. into a header so that if you have hard copy, you know what file is called.

Gone, with well over 100 other features.
You should still have Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder, use that and rate/review Pages 5.5.2 in the App Store.

  • Pages 5: Insert File Name

    How do I insert the File Name? How do I update an old File Name that was previously inserted?
    It's common practice to insert the document name in the footer of document, so people reading the document know what version the file was printed from. This was easily handled in the past version of Pages by going to the "Insert" menu and selecting "File Name". If you later modified a document, you could righ click on the inserted document name and the contextual menu would offer you the option to "Update File Name".
    Pages 5 seems to be missing this functionality. The software help instructions offer zero mention of Insert File Name.
    Has this been removed? If so, that's crazytown. If not, I'd sure appreciate being explained how to use this important feature.
    Thank you!

    Tell Apple and Apple's users by rating/reviewing Pages 5 in the App Store.
    Apple tries to clear out the bad reviews but with every new version they keep sinking lower and lower.
    In the Australian M.A.S. it is getting almost 3/4 saying they don't like it, with almost 3/5ths saying they hate it. Worse than the previous v5.0.
    I assume there were some who just quickly looked at it and didn't know what Apple had done. A few bad files and intractable problems later, and they are starting to wake up.
    The problem with the reviews is that mostly people do it on first impressions and they can't go back and correct their review in the light of experience, until the next version comes out.

  • Script to insert file name into keywords field of same file

    Hello,
    search a solution, a Script or another, which writes the file name into keywords field of same file (Metadata: Description/Keywords) in "photoshop", "bridge" or better in "Lightroom" .
    I found this topic from Mike Hale http://www.ps-scripts.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1330
    It's possible this script to change this in such a way that it does this:
    "script to insert file name into keywords field of same file"
    Thanks and best greetings

    This works in CS2:-
    #target bridge

    nameDescription .onSelect = function () {

    Any idea how to solve this issue?
    Thank you in advance for you help

    for waiting state of message means either receiving system is not ready or there are some messages which are into system error state under RWB message monitoring. Please calcel all System Error messags from RWB.
    Secondly in MONI you can check if your target file was mapped with file name or not.
    Also check the queus by SMQ1 & SMQ2, if something got stuck there then you need to clear it. Check in both in PI & in R3.

  • Where is Search File Names option in Mavericks finder?

    Prior versions of the finder had an option to allow searching of file names only.  This seems to be gone in Mavericks.  Is there any way to get it back?

    While the default is to search for both name matches and content matches when you start typing into the search box you will be presented with the option to limit the search to the name

  • Where are my file names?

    Complete and total newbie to Mac. I have been using Jasc Paint Shop for years, just got my Mini today. I am an Ebay seller, and had a large amount of photos sorted into folders and subfolders, all with numerical file names. The pictures were on my Free Agent hard drive, so I used Finder to move them into iPhoto. Worked nicely, though not so organized. At least I have events with the names of all the previous folders. But I cannot find a way to see a file name. I need to keep using a system for this, since I upload a lot of pictures to the internet via Filezilla. Which isn't loaded yet.
    I haven't gotten far because it quickly became apparent that the Malware that was the final straw on my PC has followed me to Mac. I downloaded Protectmac and it's scanning right now. I'm not on the Mac, obviously.
    Any help with the organization problem is appreciated. How I wish I could still have PSP, but no Mac version.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
    In iPhoto go to View > Titles. This will show the file names.
    You can also click on the small "i" inside the circle at the base of each picture to flip it and see the photo information.
    You can also click on the the small "i" inside the circle at the bottom left of the iPhoto window. When you click on a picture that information window will show you it's information.
    You can also go to Photos > Show Extended Photo Info to see even more information about your pictures.
    Hope that helps.

  • Premiere CS4 Version 4.2.1  – Where is the file "Name"?

    I have my video files on a hard disk which I connect to my laptop. My project files are on the laptop. I have been able to work with the files for a long time without any problems. Today I get the question “Where is the file?” and I don’t want to spend many hours finding all the files, when I don’t know why this happen so it could happen again. First I thought Premiere got confused with the drive letters because I had a UPS Flycard network connector, but I restarted the computer without it and got the same problem. How can I let Premier find the files again and why did this happen?

    Well, this most often happens when the OS assigns a new/different hard drive letter. One can set the external to a set drive letter in the OS. Do not know your "flyback card," so do not know how it might affect things. What is the current drive letter, and what was the one assigned originally?
    With PrPro, one only has to locate the first "missing" file, when asked, and the program will then link to all other Assets in that folder. If you have the Assets in several folders, you will need to do this for each folder, containing Assets for that Project. The Find function of that dialog screen will prove very helpful.
    I'd first exit from PrPro (do not choose Offline, Ignore, etc., and then Save the Project file), check out the drive letters, and then set the external to what was originally assigned.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Where (drive, folder, file name) are the database files that store catalog information such as tags and changed dates in Elements 13?

    I want to backup just the datebae file that holds catalog data.  I can't find it in Elements 13 but could in Elements 10.  Is it hidden in a secret file with a secret name?  Why?

    The catalog is a folder containing the main database (catalog.pse13db), the thumbnails cache (thumb.5.cache) and other files and subfolders. To save a catalog, you save the whole catalog with its subfolders. Note that if you don't save the thumbnail cache (which is the biggest item in the catalog), it will be rebuilt automatically.
    In all versions of Elements, Win or Mac, you find its location from the menu: Help/System information.
    By default it's in a hidden folder in Windows.
    Why? I don't know, but you can tell the Windows Explorer to show hidden files. That's up to you; I always do that.
    Should the catalog always be in the default location? Not at all. You can move it elsewhere. For instance you can hold your image library and your catalog to an external drive. Then, the catalog manager shows it as beeing in 'custom location'.
    The following is not in your question, but I assume you are asking that for backup purposes. If you have an external backup system, you should include the catalog folder. That is not enough if you want to restore to another computer or drive because the original is dead. The catalog stores the picture files location with reference to the path, but also to the internal serial number of the drive. Changing drive means that all files will be shown 'missing' or 'disconnected', and you'll have to run a 'reconnect' procedure. You don't need the reconnection if you use the internal backup/restore process in the Organizer.
    Use Backup, Restore to move catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later
    If you are not in the situation of a crash, but you simply want to update (includinge updating PSE version), the integrated system is ideal.
    Other backup systems have their advantages. I do use Windows SyncToy after each significant editing session, and the Organizer backup at regular intervals.

  • Where are photo file names?

    I've "titled" many, many photos in iPhoto by changing the filename (e.g. "DSC_2254" --> "On vacation in Hawaii"), but there appears to be no option in Photos to show the filename. So none of my "titles" appear. Am I missing something?

    Léonie,
    As a further clarification, because this has huge implications for those of us that have "titled" thousands of photos in iPhoto, which are not carried over to the new Photos app:
    Here is an example of a photo to which I edited the filename (D7K_2242) in iPhoto:
    Note that the full title (which is actually the edited filename) appears in iPhoto.
    Here is the same photo as it appears in Photos in the Moments view:
    Here are my Metadata settings in Photos:
    So..
    --- Even when "titles" are turned on under Metadata
    --- and when in the Moments view in Photos
    The filename edited in iPhoto (="title") does not appear in Photos.
    I have discovered one way to remedy this, but it is NOT a practical remedy when you have thousands of "titled" photos in iPhoto with lots of albums, etc.
    --- In iPhoto: Select a photo, then: File -> Edit -> Export, with these settings:
    Any other settings for Kind (e.g., Original) will result in the title not carried over to Photos. Here's how the above export looks in Photos:
    As I said above, this is not a reasonable solution because among other things you can only export a file as a "jpeg" and not as an "Original", which was a "raw" file. So I guess off I go to report this as a "bug" to Apple.

  • Where has the File Name sort gone in PSE11 ?

    I have recently migrated to PSE 11 from PS 9 and am annoyed that the filename sort seems to have disappeared in PSE 11 Organizer (it was Display-Folder Location in PS 9).  Does anyone know how to sort images by filename in Organzier 11?
    Now the only sort is chronological which is a pain for building a story-board for eventual migration of images to non-Adobe apps such as Pinnacle Studio.  While the labelling features of Organizer are wonderful for those that like to spend days micro-managing their images, the reality of the native (ie Windows) file structure remains and is the only compatible file structure understood by other apps.  There is no reason for Adobe to drop the filename sort option in Organizer - please bring it back !!

    My iPad is a first generation so it on IOS 5 and I am running iTunes 11. Shows up for me as I said above. Maybe somebody else knows whay it doesn't work for you.
    Probably try all the usual suspects Power on and Off for ipad 9 Not Standby, hold down Power button until a red slider appears. The when off keep it pressed for 2-3 secs and iPad will reboot.
    Also switch of iTunes and Computer and the switch back on.
    Never know it might help certainly wouldn't hurt

  • Insert Page Name in Master page

    Hello.
    I was wondering if there was an easy way to insert the page name inside a master page, something like indesign's variable ?
    If i want this exactly like the widgets (drag and drop a box, it places with editable attribute of pageitem::menu), i'm ok to type and paste some html.
    (I also wonder how to use the widgets.muse file to build my own, but that's another question i guess)

    Thanks, this sounds like just what I'm after. However…
    I feel pretty silly asking this, but I can't understand the Adobe Help files on overriding a master item.
    It lists a two step process:
    Make sure the master item can be overridden -this seems to be fine. After selecting the inserted File Name in the master I can see a tick next to Allow Master Item Overrides On Selection in the Pages panel menu.
    Override specific master items on a document page - this is where I get lost.
    Firstly I can't select the items on a regular (non-master) page. Am I meant to select them on the master page?
    Secondly the help file simply says "Change the selected master items as desired." How do I change them. There's no explicit instruction, and I can't for the life of me work it out.
    More generally (if this does happen on a master), do I need to make this change on every document in the book, or can I simply make the change on the Style Source and then synchronise the remaining files?

  • Is there an easy way to run an Ajax function from input type=file to test the file name in DB?

    I've had the <input type="file">  ... <cffile ...> thing going for a few years now.
    There is a database where the uploaded file names are stored once the files are uploaded to the server.  It sees things in terms of problems and stores uploaded file name accordingly with the ProbID prepended onto the file name; e.g., MyPicture.jpg would end up in the designated directory and databawe as P416_MyPicture.jpg.  This allows user to store pictures with the same name in different problems without a conflict.  There has been an issue with certain characters (e.g., spaces, +, #, etc.) causing problems when they are in file names so we have come up with a way using the <cffile ... rename> to replace these chars with _.  This means that MyPic+.jpg would end up being P416_MyPic_.jpg.
         This is where the problem appears.  If someone were to upload MyPic+.jpg after someone else uploaded MyPic_.jpg in the same problem, then the + file would overwrite the _ file before the system knew they had a problem.  And there is now way to restore the original file without going to the system backup and doing so – which is a whole other story … especially, if the person doesn’t tell anyone.
         The logical solution would be to be able to test the new final file name (the name after making the substitutions mentioned above) against the existing files in the database before you went from the page where the <input type=file> control to the associated _action.cfm page where the <cffile> object is located.  Given that this seems to be the province of Ajax, this would seem like a natural use of the really interesting technology.  I have can determine the file name from the onChange action on the <input type=File> so that this would be the place for Ajax to come to the rescue by looking up the final file name and then letting the user know whether the resultant name is a unique within the database or not.  If so, I'll just enable the Add button which sets right next to the <input > control and let them upload it.  If not, I'll put up an error message telling them that this file already exists in the system.
         This would be the perfect solution.  It would let me do some Ajax stuff like I've wanted to do for the past year, but never have had the time to do because this is the project that won't go away.  This is, in fact, the last thing of any consequence that remains to do on this 2-1/2 year nightmare – be careful what you wish for.  If I can get this done this week, then maybe I can finally take a weekend off … maybe it will finally come to an end.
         Which finally leads to my question:  I'm looking for some tips on how to get this thing going since I can barely spell Ajax.  I've got a book and looked at some stuff online about CF and Ajax, but a good example or two or three would be worth a day's worth of poking around on the web and in my books.
         Thanks in advance for any suggestions, ideas, help, whatever.
    Len

    Adam,
         Thank you for your suggestion, but, after spending the night working with Ben Forta's CF8, vol 2, Chap 34, working with <cfajaxproxy>, I was able to do exactly what I wanted and it appears, after some testing, to work exactly as I had envisoned it should.
         I am now calling a JavaScript function (testFileName) from the onChage event on the <input type="file"> or Browse button, which calls my proxy.cfc that contains the server side of the equation.  This funciton testFileName (I've run out of cleaver function/file names).  The query contained therein hits the database to see if the passed in parameters can pull up an existing file.  If they do, the particulars (file name, data attahced, etc.) are returned to the JavaScipt procedure that puts up the error notice.  The user can then chose to either overwrite the file or quit.  Quiting leaves the your on the Attachment PopUp where he/she started with nothing being uploaded.
         Thanks again for your suggestion.  I appreciate your taking the time to do so.

  • Mail to File - how to read the attachment file name from the subject.

    I need to use the SHeaderSUBJECT's value in the receiver file adapter's variable substitution.
    This is a Mail to File scenario without design part where the attachment file name comes in the subject of the mail.
    I see the below in the dynamicconfiguration section. How can i retrive the value from dynamicconfiguration section to the filename.
    <SAP:DynamicConfiguration xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
    <SAP:Record namespace="http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail" name="SHeaderSUBJECT">PlainAttachment.txt</SAP:Record>
    </SAP:DynamicConfiguration>
    Points will be rewarded.

    Try to use sthg like this in a UDF :
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().getStreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(“http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail”,“SHeaderSUBJECT”);
    String value = conf.get(key);
    or in a JAVA mapping :
    DynamicConfiguration dynConf = (DynamicConfiguration) param.get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey dynKey = DynamicConfigurationKey.create((“http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail”,“SHeaderSUBJECT”);
    String keyValue = dynConf.get(dynKey);
    param is the map object from the execute() method of your mapping ...
    Hope this helps

  • Sender File adpater to Pick Two files at a time based on the file name

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a scenario where I need to pick two files at a time using file adapter where the two files names have a common string in between their names.For example , the file names can be sets like
    H123.txt and L123.txt
    H345.txt and L345.txt.
    Now how do we handle this in the File Adapter ?

    Anu,
    Two approaches.
    1.     Use BPM: use a collect pattern to pick those files: L and H files , use multi mapping to merge those files and map to IDoc. Constraint is that there must be a mandatory correlation field in both the files. Say a same po id  in L and H file.
    2.     Use an Adapter module with additional files option in file Adapter. Operate on the Main payload and attachment inside your module code to get a combined contents of both files and proceed.
    Module is preferable in terms of performance, but maintenance is difficult. Deployment after each changes, transport issues, etc.
    BPM is resource intensive, but easy to maintain, transport.
    Choose based on your requirement.

  • Show file name as the title for a photo in Photos app

    If my memory is correct in iPhoto when you hovered the cursor over a photo it displayed the title assigned to the photo, but if you had not assigned a title it showed the file name. In Photos app the only way I have found to see the file name is in the info panel. Other wise it only shows untitled when you hover over the photo. You can copy/paste in the info pane but thats a pain if you have hundreds of pics with no title. I only named a few in iPhoto as I preferred to see the file name assigned by the camera. Any one know if it's possible to see file name and not untitled?

    See this discussion:  Re: Where are photo file names?
    Photos does show the filenames only in the Info panel, and if you wrote the filename into the title field as a title, Photos will suppress it. in some cases
