Where is itunes device backup stored on Mountain Lion?

Device backups used to be stored in the Library/Application Support/Mobilesync folder. In Mountain Lion, I do not have a Mobilesync folder. Anyone know? Thanks!

  • Where are web-clip widgets stored in Mountain Lion?  Want to use my webpage in iBooks.

I made a webpage that has a custom map that I want to put into an iBook.  The map works great as a Dashboard Widget and I'd like to find that Widget and put it into my iBook.  For the life of me I cannot find where it is Stored in Mountain Lion.  Anyone know this?
    Thanks!

I'm not sure, but don't you just need to export the widget from Dashboard? It's just a project file otherwise and can't be used elsewhere unless exported.

  • Where is the ipad backup file in Mountain Lion?

In Snow Leopard, there was a library folder in the user folder, but in Mountain Lion, you have the system library, but no user library that I can see.  I would like to locate it so that I can have the option of deleting the iPad portion of the Mobile Backups (like I did with SL to free up more space).
    Please advise.
    Thank you!

And you are sure you are backing up to the computer and not to iCloud?

  • Where are custom icon's stored in Mountain Lion?

If I were to copy an image to my clipboard, and paste it over the icon in "get info", where is that image held? It doesn't seem to change the file in any way, it still gives the same CRC hash unless the metadata of the file doesn't matter in such an event. I checked all other hidden files in the same folder and non of them seem to be modified. The file in question is an .mkv type.
    Thanks.

I'm not sure on higher OSXes, but in 10.5.8, I duplicated a file, changed the icon on the copy in Get Info, the copy now has a Rsrc fork added, which contaims the new icon, even though in reality it was the same icon as before...

    The original is unchanged.
BTW, same Rsrc fork addition happens if you Get Info & choose just one file to open with other than the default app but don't click change All, which chages the Launch DB.
So I assume the MD5 only checks the Data Fork.

Where is iTunes Match content stored on apple TV? I recently joined itunes match and it is working on my ios devices, but I can't find my uploaded music on Apple TV

It isn't actually stored anywhere, it needs to be downloaded from the internet before any content can be played.
iTunes Match content is accessed through the 'Music' icon on the main screen though, it needs turning on though in settings first.

Anyone know how to fix this?

You can't connect directly to the external drive, but should be able to use iTunes Home Sharing via the laptop.

How do I add the original backup into itunes and restore from it?
    Thanks anyone.

    Hey Phantom42
Move them into folders that is listed below and iTunes should recognize it. Look in the Back up your backup sections to see the location.

  • Restoring files from time machine backup made using Mountain Lion

    Hi Guys
I have trawled through the Internet and found many sources of help for some of my headaches but still can't help the problem. So here I am.....
I have an early MacBook Pro 13" that came with snow leopard. I immediately updated to lion which was a disaster being so slow etc. Then I upgraded to mountain lion which was pretty good. I always upgraded and never clean installed.
I have been running time machine on a Qnap nas (model 212) which I must add has been a headache to get going in itself.
Anyways I recently upgraded to mavericks which made my MacBook grind to a halt. I mean even the beachball was struggling. To the point after 2 weeks I couldn't get anything done on it!
So I decided to do a clean install.  Did that and then tried to do restore files using migration assistant at first log in. Turns out my back is corrupted!
Now I know I have a good complete backup of my mountain lion system just 2 weeks old on my nas. Only problem is that mavericks won't let me get to that when I try to upgrade from that drive as it just says no OSX backup available.
Now I am trying to install snow leopard cleanly and the try and upgrade to mountain lion hoping that it would recognise the mountain lion backup on my nas.
Can you please let me know if I am going in the right direction?
    Any help appreciated guys.
    Thanks

Everything since the fresh install, has to be done manually from my Backup drive. Wasn't, or isn't TM supposed to do that automatically (for example restoring iTunes, is it supposed to restore just the application or all the folders with it as well?). Why, when I select a folder with many subfolders in it (and eventually the files I want within) does it say that the original whatever doesn't exist anymore at that location, then I have the option to choose a new location or to recreate the enclosing folders? I Click on recreate but when I do, just the top level shows (the first folder, for example, garageband). No more folders are shown inside, despite there being plenty of files in my backup version. Am I misunderstanding TM's powers/capabilities here? Is it supposed to be this frustrating and difficult?
Everything that I want has to be done manually it seems. I don't understand it. The other thing is that it denies me access (I don't have the privileges or whatever it says) to move the files directly via the mounted disk on the desktop rather than entering TM. So, I can't go into TM and click restore, I can't manually open the mounted drive and drag files (denies me permission). The only way I've been able to do anything successfully is to archive the **** folder/s or files.
Any help or direction, or a manual on how to use or tutorial on Time machine would be great. Someone point me in the right direction please, this is highly annoying and I am debating switching back to Leopard (having issues with iChat in Snow Leopard).
    Thanks

  • Backups/itunes/smallpox/reinstalling/hard drives/mountain lions

EDIT:  I REARRANGED THE ORDER OF MY PARAGRAPHS.  SO THE FIRST PART IS NOW THE 2ND PART...IT'LL MAKE SENSE ONCE YOU READ.
I also want to know if anyone has any explanation for how an update to a newer version of iTunes might cause so many seemingly random of my videos, apps and possibly other items (songs? not sure what else it is so hard to tell after having had it for so many years) to just go AWOL.  I can definitely tell some things are missing.  For instance, videos.  I know that I had several dozen to 100 compared to the TWO that I have had since updating.
People here on this forum keep telling me to find my time machine backup since I am unable & unwilling to live with this current version. I mean I cant.  Everything is gone and anything which is not gone is just wonkyfied.  Not knowing all that much on the topic, I assume that'd be somewhere on my hard drive. I hope.  TBH, I've had a major accessibility issue over my external hard drive and am working on getting it back. So whatever is on there would be over 4 months old....not sure if thats a good or a bad thing, quite honestly! As far as iTunes versions go.
So maybe there are some old iTunes files here on my hard drive wandering about?  As a matter of fact, I have some saved files from my old MacBook that I managed to hang onto - which actually contained saved files from my first MacBook from back in like..2001ish?  so if such a thing is possible to pull out of those transferred saved file thingies ( can you tell I totally know what I'm talking about?  I speak several languages but Computer happens to not be one of em)  I transferred it onto this before I dropped Recent MacBook on the floor.  I had no money lying around, needed a new computer, went to a rent to own place & the only macs they had were MBPs so I financed this MBP.  If I had known then that Apple was going to go all MSy on us I couldve saved myself an amazing amount of money (I was financing it, after all) and gone with a PC.   I am very much disappointed.  To say the least.
I am running version 10.8.2 which... argh!  I always forget what that is - Mountain Lion maybe??
Are we able to do anything about our problems with iTunes 11? Anything other than just post on message boards here and on hundreds of sites throughout the internet - at the bottom of every news story that has ever been written since iTunes 11's release, etc. etc. etc?
What power do we have, if any?   I also want to know how long has it been since this version of iTunes was unleashed?  I just saw a post that shocked me with a date of I think it said November or December, where I myself had only just had iiTunes forced upon me with an OSX update weeks ago (like, roughly late January-early Feb.)
A day that will live in infamy.  I trusted Apple enough to let them do an update.  I had not yet realized just how much Apple has changed so very, very, very rapidly just in the span of half of a year.  See the above-mentioned thousands of unaddressed complaints.

Yo - when I say "here on my hard drive",  what I mean is here on my MacBook Pro's hard drive.
Not on the external hard drive that I am totally unable to access and will....who knows when I'll ever see again.
    Thanks much.

  • Where in Finder is ipad backup file in mountain lion?

    Please help.
I usually take a second backup of the ios device backups.  Now missing, and can't find them in Finder.  Please don't say in iTunes...unless, I am a total idiot and it somewhere shows the path.

  • Where can I find calendar library in mountain lion time machine backup

    Hi together,
I just had a series of new hardware and problems with the software. In december I had to buy a new MBP as the motherboard of my old one was damaged. So now, with mountain lion, I only have made one backup with time machine so far.
A few days ago I bought an iPad for the first time. Thats why I was reading the instruction for icloud and tried a few things. And there I made a mistake and all calender entries were deleted.
Thought: no big problem, as I have a backup. BUT I cant find the calendar files in the backup. I know, that the library is only shown in "Go to + alt-key", but I dont find it in the backup. (I tried also an terminal command written in a community thread, but nothing happend)
    Please, can anybody help me?
    Thanks a lot in advance!!!!

If you synchronize any of your calendars with a server such as iCloud, disable that synchronization. Quit Calendar.
Triple-click the line below to select it: ~/Library/Calendars Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Enter Time Machine and restore that folder from the snapshot you want.
Relaunch Calendar and test. Your calendars should be as they were when the snapshot was taken. If you don't sync with a server, stop here. If you do sync some of the calendars with a server, select each one in turn and then select
    File ▹ Export ▹ Export…
from the menu bar. You'll get ICS files with the filename extension ".ics". Re-enable sync. Usually, all the calendars you just restored will be deleted. That's not a problem. Create a new calendar on the server for each one you exported and want to sync:
    File ▹ New Calendar
Then import the calendar from the corresponding ICS file:
    File ▹ Import ▹ Import…
Follow the prompts to import the new events to the calendar you just created. For calendars that you don't want to sync, just import them again. They'll appear in the calendar list under On My Mac.
