Dear All,
I purchased a Lenovo G570 (Model Name: 20079).
Where can I find linux drivers for my laptop?
Does lenovo support provides that to download?
Sincerely,

Hello snayak
Do not worry about Linux drivers for your laptop. All needed drivers for most of the machines are on the Linux kernel. Most hardware are recognized by latest kernel. So all you have to do is install your distro and enjoy Linux.
The best way to check if all hardware are recognized is booting up a distro in live mode and test the hardware.
You can make a test with Linux Mint, and install their new and amazing DE called Cinnamon. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

• Lenovo support site, warranty lookup and warranty service unavailable for 72 hours?

Hello, I've got a newly purchased Lenovo Yoga 2 13 with a confirmed hardware issue. I'd like to take advantage of the on-site support I purchased and it appears that's currently impossible. Here are the issues I've encountered.
I began at the Lenovo Support site: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/
I tried the Check Warranty Status tool ( http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/warrantylookup ) just to verify my new laptop and warranty are accurately listed in Lenovo's systems. No luck, the form has been returning a "Service Busy" error for the past hour.
I then tried to submit an Online Service Request ( http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/submitrequestonline ) to schedule the repair. Again, no luck. The page is broken and has no form or links on it (see below). Same result in multiple browsers over the past hour.
I finally called Lenovo technical support. Doing that was difficult because the support phone number is not listed anywhere visible on the Lenovo Support site - I had to find it through the FAQ here in the forum. The phone rep asked me some questions and then suggested I work with the vendor where I purchased the laptop. But it was purchased from Lenovo.com, so this is Lenovo's problem. The rep then informed me that the Lenovo technical support system is "being upgraded" and will be unavailable for the next 72 hours until Tuesday 8/12. I was unable to get a case number and will need to call back or submit a new request online (when and if the online form is repaired).
A next-day, on-site warranty is kind of pointless of it takes 2 business days before you can even request service. Not a good first impression, Lenovo. How about acknowledging the "system upgrade" on the support site or forum so customers know what's going on?

Does anyone know of any other options, or do I need to send my phone back to a service centre in Australia?
For a warranty claim, there is no other option.

• Lenovo Support - Laptop problems

Good day,
I was hoping someone could help me I phoned Lenovo support centre and I was disconnected,
My laptop has an issue with Blue Screen ; while working my computer it just gives me a blue screen saying "Your PC has run into a problem and will restart.  My PC restarts and then  I carry on working.
I don’t know what the problem may be I have not changed anything on this laptop it is stock standard. I have Windows 8 which was installed on the computer, I have Microsoft office 2007 which was given to me by my IT if anyone can help me or guide me please.
Also I bought my laptop in about June of this year.  My warranty will be finishing off in November I spoke to a lady by the name of Mennatallah and she advised me she will be sending me an email with details where I must send my receipt to so that my warranty can be amended.  Could someone help me in full here or get someone to sort out my computer problem?  I am not phoning support again just so that I can get hung up on...
Thank you very much,

hi Shearidan,
From the screenshot, the main causes of the BSOD's are btsokrnl.exe, ndistapi.sys, and hal.dll, in which, are essential windows system files.
From this source, here's a background on the BSOD:
0x00000124 - "Windows passes on the hardware error report in the form of a "stop 0x124" because it can't do anything else once the hardware has signalled an uncorrectable fault condition. In technical terms, the vast majority of stop 0x124 crashes correspond to "Machine Check Exceptions" (MCEs) issued by the processor to alert the software to the existence of a hardware problem. It's possible for drivers to indirectly induce hardware to register MCEs by "driving" in ways that are confusing to the hardware"
This crash can be a hardware fault or a driver issue. To isolate, try to:
1. Run Windows Update to get the latest patch and bug fixes
2. Follow this guide on how to run Driver Verifier
3. Reboot the machine and observe the computer.
If the BSOD re-occurs, perform a clean boot and observe the computer again.
Let me know how it goes.

• Lenovo support question?

2 questions! First how do I contact a Lenovo support person here in the US? Second, is it possible to go back from 7 Home to the original 7 Starter?  S10-3, upgraded to 2 G/Ram  thanks, Bill

Bill,
To answer your very first question - you can contact customer services by phone - the details are on the Lenovo website.
Now, regarding restoring back to Win7 Starter using OneKey:
I've got an S12-ION, which comes with Win 7 Home Premium, not Starter, but I understand the situation is essentially the same.
That is, if you select the 'Restore from Initial Back-up' option, it will overwrite the C: drive with whatever was there to begin with (when it came out of the factory).
In your case, if your machine ships with Windows 7 Starter, then Windows 7 Starter it will be.
Now, if you still have the OneKey Application installed in Home, then you can use that to make both 'User Back-ups' (of whatever is currently on your C: drive), or you may use it to create a 'Factory Defaults Recovery Disk set'.
This, the Factory Defaults Recovery Disk set, does something similar to 'Restore from Initial Back-up', except you'll need to boot 'into' the first disk of the set - it will then overwrite the entire contents of the HDD.
It's main use is for if you want to replace the HDD or if your current HDD gets corrupted, and, again, it will restore the drive to the state it was in when the machine left the factory.
To make (or use) a Factory Defaults Recovery Disk set, you will need an external CD/DVD burner (or just a reader when performing a restore).
You can also use the OneKey application to make a 'custom recovery disk set' using a previously created user back-up file.
So, if say you want to buy an SSD to replace the HDD with, if you first make a user backup of your current HDD, then make a recovery disk set from that user backup, you can then replace the HDD with the SSD (or a different HDD) and then use the custom recovery disk set to get back to where you were.
NOTE: there are two parts to OneKey - a windows Application (that you may or may not still have installed (it should run if you press the OneKey button whilst in Windows, if it is installed)) and the Boot-time program (that's what runs when you press the OneKey button when you machine is off).
Oh, and I think the version number you're seeing in OneKey is not your Windows 7 version number - it's the OneKey software version number - it just happens to be 7 point something.

• Lenovo System Update and Lenovo Support RSS Feed (X60)

Okay. I got Lenovo System Update (version 5, for Windows 7) and it did not offer me any Critical updates. Only Recommended and Optional ones. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, so I don't want to install Recommended and Optional updates, only the Critical ones if there is any.
On the other hand I also have the Lenovo Support RSS Feed. But they bring me to dead links. For my X60 the two drivers in my RSS Feed are
ThinkVantage Access Connections patch for Access Connections Version 5.95 for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-...
Patch module for Power Manager for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad -
Both are totally dead links.
The tricky part is that there is absolutely no correlation between the two: totally different drivers in the System Update and the RSS Feed.

Hello both,
SU has been discontinued because old SU version wouldn´t work with SP2.
Refer to this thread in at the ThinkVantage board regarding this situation and possible solutions

• Trying to understand Lenovo support - I just need a basic question answered

I have a few Thinkstation S20 desktops that are now out of warranty and I am trying to re-purpose them for lab machines.  These desktops do not have any Windows 7 product key stickers on them and I would like to put Windows 7 Pro on them.  I assume they probably were shipped with Windows 7, but these came from another office in our company and they might have been ordered as CAD workstations.  However, if they are allowed legally to have Windows 7, I would like to install it.  With our older Dell's systems, we can go into Dell's website, put in a service tag and see the original configuration.  There doesn't appear to be this simple way of doing this on Lenovo's website...is there?
What is the deal with Lenovo support?  I've had some awful experiences and this one is no exception.  Read on if you are interested in the absurd support details...
So I call the main Lenovo 800 support number.  After I give the lady all my information, she says "oh, this is a thinkstation, and you are in the wrong department...let me transfer you".  So, after a long hold, I get another person on the phone...I go through all the information on the system in question, explain that I am trying to find out if this machine came with an OEM Windows 7 license.  After a few more minutes, she now tells me "Oh, this is a Thinkstation...I cannot support those...you have to call a different phone number".  She give me the phone number (which is the ORIGINAL phone number I called!!!) and tells me to push option 2, then option 1, and put in a machine type of 4155, even though the machine type is really 4157.  I confirm with her that she is giving me the wrong machine type, but she insists I use that one.  So, I call back the other 800 number, go through ALL the information a third time, and she tells me these machines are out of warranty.  I know they are out of warranty, I just want find out if they came with Windows 7 Professional!  She says she needs to transfer me to the software department.  I get put on hold again, and then have to give ALL my information to the NEW person for the 4th time!  After a long hold, she finally gets back to me and tells me this is a CTO model and customizable by the customer.  She then says her records show it came with Vista.  This machine was built well after the release of Windows 7...I have no idea how it came with Vista, and she says I need to call the vendor and find out why there is no sticker on it.

Hi jbobst,
if you go to the support site, http://support.lenovo.com/us/en, or click on support at the top of the forum you will be able to search on the model type of your system after selecting Search by Machine Type Model.
If your system is a CTO, Configured To Order, this wont unfortunately tell you which OS was preinstalled in which case you can use Parts Lookup; this will usually state which OS was installed. For Parts Lookup only the first 4 characters of the MTM are required.

• Fixed - bent connector - S12 ION poor wireless performance - Lenovo support no help

Hi forum,
I received my Thanksgiving deal S12 ION last week.  The size and format are perfect, the overall performance just what it needs to be, but the wireless performance is unacceptable.  I work for IBM, and have a T60P work laptop and two Y430 laptops, all of which have perfect full bars of wireless signal throughout my house.  But this S12 ION has only three bars in my office next to the wireless G router, and only one to two bars in the next room.  From any other room in the house I cannot connect.
I verified that I have the most recent wireless drivers installed.  The ones it shipped with are the most recent on the Lenovo support site.
I called Lenovo technical support.  After waiting on hold, I was connected, then dropped after another 30 minute on hold.  The second time I called in, I was told I needed to turn on the wireless using the switch.  I informed the tech that I was already connected and that the issue was poor signal.  He then suggested removing Lenovo readycomm, but that is not installed on this S12.  Finally he told me that this is just a netbook, not a laptop and that if I do not like it I should return it.
I am so angry with this poor support I would return it immediately, if it were not for the 15% return fee.
Does anyone else have wireless issues?  Am I mistaken about this being a nice wireless connectivity tool?
At the price I paid, $399, I can dump this on eBay, but I am seriously disappointed.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Hi Forum,
I opened the wireless card slot after reading in other netbook forums that some have had loose antenna connectors. At first I thought that was what I had as one of the leads, the black one, was not seated. It turns out that the connector on the wireless card was bent open.
See pics:

I bent the ring connector closed, reattached the antenna lead, and now I have great signal. Thought you would be interested in the pics.
I am going to call Lenovo and ask them to replace the wireless card, as there is no guarantee the connector is not damaged, but it is working fine for now.

• Lenovo support - options for recovering Windows 8 on new X230

Hello, I recently purchased x230 with Windows 8.
I installed Ubuntu 12.0 (attempting to dual boot).  Unfortuantely, Windows 8 is no longer accessible(UEFI error comes up on boot), the restore partition is also corrup ("required partition cannot be found").
I attempted to install win 8 PRO that I purchased from scratch.  It failes because the Windows 8 key embedded into the EFI doesn't match the new Windows 8 PRO that I have on DVD.
I chatted with Lenovo support, asking to purchase restore DVDs for my laptop - I was told that it's not possible (after going thorugh a couple of people and wasting 1.5 hours on chat_
Please provide some support as it is unacceptable that I cannot install clean version of WIndows 8 and the restore disks are not available from Lenovo.
Thank You.

Unfortunately, win 8 doesn't support dual boot in native or not tweaked mode.

• System Update 4 won't install on W500/Win 7. (Lenovo Support unhelpful and have stopped responding).

Hello Forum,
I am trying to solve a problem I have trying to install System Update 4.0 onto a Thinkpad W500 running Windows 7.
I did have System Update 3.14 running a while ago and was told to update to 4.0 but to date I have not been able to install this. Version 3.14 was uninstalled successfully and a reboot was done before the install attempt. Version 4.0 starts to install and then comes up with an error message.
Lenovo Support were contacted via email and the only suggestion that was given was to completely format the laptop and re-install Windows Vista from the Lenovo disks, (they did at least supply these). This I find an unacceptable solution to the problem as version 4.0 is for Windows 7 only and therefore negate this, but the major issue is I want to fix this issue, not downgrade the whole OS.
The error message reads; "Windows cannot find 'C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\Temp\pftD377.tmp\setup\psainst.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
They have not contacted me since the 13th July, even though I replied to their message on the 13th, and again on the 22nd July.
If anyone knows how I can escalate this within Lenovo I would appreciate the information.
Apologies if this is the forum or thread for this, but as Lenovo are so unresponsive, they left me no option (and I haven't resorted to bad language and abuse hurling).
Many thanks all.

If you can take the pain, you could try kenningar's solution at the bottom of this page.  Might help.

• Serial Number not accepted by Lenovo Support/Warranty Lookup

Trying to e-mail support about my G505s but it will not accept my SN as valid despite the fact I bought it from a reputable retailer. Lenovo Solutions can't access my warranty information, either. Help?

hi Wonk,
Got your PM. It's odd that there's no info on your machines' serial number but the message Multiple devices found - Please enter Machine Type Information on the warranty lookup page may indicate that the serial number hasn't been registered on the system yet. This usually happens if the unit is brand new or refurbished (indicated by the letters RF on the machine type (eg. 59RF0637)).
If you purchased the system in the UK, I recommend you fill up the form below to register the system and contact the lenovo support center and report the issue.

I am trying to move Adobe Acrobat IX, Photoshop CS6, Photoshop CC and Bridge to a new computer (Mac Pro (late2013), Mavericks 10.9.3) from an older Mac Pro using the same OSX.
I keep getting the error 16 message whether I try to open Acrobat or Photoshop (I have a paid for DVD of CS6). I have uninstalled and re-installed. I have reset permissions on 2 folders ion the system Library. I have either deactivated or signed out of ALL the Adobe products on my old computer.
