Where is lighting effects in CS5?

Hi,
Recently I upgraded to Photoshop CS5 on my iMac. When I went tonight to select "lighting effects" under "filter" and "render", I noticed it is not there. Where is it?
thanks,
DavinS06

somethings were left behind in CS5
here's a link that describes where they are and how you need to restart in 32bit to run lighting effects and other plugins

  • Where's lighting effects gone?

I wanted to apply a particular filter to a file and I wanted to use lighting effects, but I can't find it in CS5.
Has it been dropped? If not, where is it? If it has been dropped, what can I use to apply a directional light effect?
    Thanks.

  • Missing "render lighting effects" in cs5.1

I've googled this to death and can only find the answers referenced here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/642137
I don't have that option though...mine only says "share folders" where this one has the option of running in 32 bit mode...
    Any ideas?

You should be able to go /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5, expand the folder, right click on the Adobe Photoshop CS5.app, choose Get Info and in
the top area under General, there should be an Open in 32 - bit mode checkbox.

  • Lighting effects photoshop CS5

Have they gone... or have hte been moved?
    I can't find them anywhere.

For those of us who do not know (I didn't) how to tun on 32 bit addressing for the application...
•Quit Photoshop if you have it open...
•Find the Photoshop CS5 application icon
    • Right click on it and select "GET INFO".
When the Information window opens you need to tick the box that says "Open in 32-bit mode"
    •Close the information window.
    •Re launch photoshop
•As you probably already know, this filter only works in RGB mode
    You're ready...

  • Why don't I find in Filters Render "lighting Effects"? - CS5 Extended.

I am looking at making displacement maps for textures, Etc

So before starting Photoshop select it in the Finder and raise File > Get Info and look for the check-box next to »Open in 32-bit mode«.

  • Lighting effects won't fully render

When I try to render lighting effects there is a horizontal gap in the middle of the image where the lighting effects do not render. Never had trouble rendering 3d or other things. Is this a defect in the software? Windows 7 64bit, Photoshop CC 2014, processor Intel i7 3.4 GHz, RAM 16 GB, and Video card GeForce GTX 560 Ti VRAM 1GB.

Sure do. I keep my drivers are up-to-date. I'ts a good card and not too old. It renders lighting effects vdery fast but not completely - a narrow rectangular gap in middle. Some gaps are larger than this.

Doesn't a Mac have a definitive way to check to see whether an application is running in 64 bit mode or 32?  Some kind of process manager or something?  22 posts have gone by and the original poster doesn't yet seem convinced that it is actually running in 64 bit mode.
I don't know why there has been doubt since post #12 where I explained that Ps must be running in 64-bit mode when more than 2100 MB RAM is reported in Preferences.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of Activity Monitor showing CS6 in 64-bit mode and CS5.1 in 32-bit mode.

  • Lighting effects not showing up in CS5

This plug-in is not showing up on both CS5 and CS 5.1 running on a MAC OSX 10.6.7 Italian system. I have tried both from the Italian versions of PS and even from one new version in English of PS5.1 and it isn't to be found under the menu "rendering" or enywhere else. I see that it is in the plug.in folder and the folder of lighting effects is there as well, but it just doesn't show up. Any ideas about this bug? I've tried it on 3 different computers!

As far as i know, the lighting effects filter only works in the 32 bit version of
photoshop cs5/5.1 on a mac system.

Added: If you have the extended version of cs5, you might experiment using 3d lights
for lighting effects, which works in the 64 bit version of cs5. Turn your layer into a
3d postcard and use the 3d lights for various lighting effects.

  • Where is the Hue, Saturation, Lightness effect that has colorize option in CS3 Premiere?

    Hi,
Please could you say where is the Hue, Saturation, Lightness effect that has colorize option in CS3 Premiere? I look under Color Correction in Effects and there is a "Color Balance (HLS)" but there is no colorize option. Thanks for your help.

Sometimes you ned to apply more than one effect.
    Look at Fast Color Corrector.

  • Where is the Lighting Effects Options Bar located in Photoshop CC

When I click Filter>Render>Lighting Effects, there is supposed to be an options bar that comes up. It is not showing up in Photoshop CC. Where is it located or is there an alternative for it?

  • CS5 and Lighting Effects filter

I'm very used to using the Lighting Effects Filter which I can't seem to use with files that have gone through Nik software plug-ins.  Can anyone point to any video tutorial or other educational material which I can use to find a way to emulate the lighting effects filter?  I'm using CS5 V12.1 x64.  I'm not a professional so upgrading to CS6 is not feasible.
    Thanks.

Your reply prompted me to check bit depths of my files.  It appears the lighting effects filter only works (CS5 64-bit on a PC) on 8-bit files.  I generally manage my files through LR3.6 and when they are brought into CS5 they are 16-bit.  The older files I used the lighting effects filter on must have been brought directly into CS5 as those files seem to come in as 8-bit. So, not at all a Nik issue.  It doesn't solve the problem of not having access to that filter on the files I just finished editiing since they're all 16-bit but at least now I know what to look out and plan for.
    Thanks.

  • No Lighting Effects under Render in CS5?

I just went to look for my lighting effects under their usual location, under the Filters->>Render menu, and they're not there! I've tried re-installing, to no avail.
    What am I doing wrong?

    nm, found it:
Run Photoshop CS5 on Mac OS as a 32-bit application:
Select the Adobe Photoshop CS5 application file, installed by default in the Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5 folder.
Choose File > Get Info, and select Open in 32 Bit Mode.
Deselect this option to run Photoshop CS5 in 64-bit mode.
    Thanks, Tai

  • Photoshop CS6 lighting effects filter--where are the handles?

I have read all the previous posts about this, and taken all steps. Running WIn7, 64 bit, my video card is 512Mb, drivers are up to date, PS is up to date, I restarted and stil no handles appear in the Lighting Effects filter.

Does "all steps" include ensuring 'View > Show > 3D Lights' is enabled and 'View > Extras' is enabled when the Lighting Effects filter is active?

  • Help! My copy of CS5 won't show lighting effects, and changing it to 32 bit mode does nothing

    Hi guys,
I have a copy of CS 5.1 and my system is a Macbook Pro on Mac OS 10.6.8
I want to use lighting effects, so I changed it to 32 bit mode. So I go in to Photoshop and it's not there. I reset PS's settings, restart the computer as well. Still nothing.
Wah. It worked before in the past, so why not now? Also I checked the plugin folder to make sure the lighting effect plugin was actually there and, yes it was. So what gives?
Anyway, any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated, thankyou

Ok this is the render menu in 32 bit mode. Annndddd...
I noticed there is still the 'x64' beneath CS' title... is that supposed to be there when you boot in 32 bit mode? Or could it be that my CS just isn't loading in 32 bit?
    Anyway thanks for replying!

  • Falloff Blur - Lighting Effects in 64-bit PS CS5

    Hello
I miss Lighting Effects. I know I can get it back by running in 32-bit mode, but it's just not the same...
Is there a way to get that awesome falloff blur that Lighting Effects has (had)? Like if I draw an oval, then apply some sort of blur or process of blurs to it to get that great look? It would also be really hande for making shadows.
    Like this:
    http://www.photoshopatoms.com/photoshop-basics/introduction-4-layer-styles/images/img06.jp g
      Just curious...

I think one aspect of the effect is fairly easily mimicked by a Radial Blur Layer, converted to SO and then perspectively transformed; the shadows are a different matter though.
