Where is lirc hardware.conf?
I'm running MythTV on Archlinux and as part of my installation I have lirc running so that I can use a remote control. I recently downloaded Hulu Desktop and in order to get a remote working I'm supposed to change an option in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf. Well, on the lirc installation for arch there is no /etc/lirc/ directory and I cannot find a hardware.conf... Any suggestions?
The item I'm supposed to change is to set LIRCD_ARGS="-r"
Mine is found at /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
I need it to configure my remote that's connected through my Hauppauge TV Card and I think I created the file when I set it up.
If your remote doesn't need any specific configuration, I don't think the file gets created.
Just create the file if it's not there and add your line to it, then restart lircd.

Where is my xorg.conf or XF86Config?
I am not really new to linux but this is my first time with both archlinux and fluxbox. I am trying to screw around with my touchpad to get it working and I can't find my xorg.conf file. I've looked all through the documentation trying to find something telling why they might not be there but I've come up with nothing.
The closest I can find is in my /root folder and it is xorg.conf.new
That file looks right so I tried copying it into /etc/X11 and my laptop wouldn't boot into X and I had to knoppix into my filesystem and delete it before I could get back here. Any help would be appreciated.Dusty wrote:You don't have to boot into knoppix to delete it, just press ctrl-alt-F1 to get a root console, the cd /etc/X11 then rm xorg.conf to remove it. Or mv xorg.conf xorg.bak to change the name.
Yeah I should have been more clear, it would just keep resetting when it tried to go to the login screen no matter which console I was on.
Dusty wrote:Look in /var/log/ for a file that has some error messages. For some reason, I can't remember the name of the file, somethnig like XOrg.0.log or XFree86.0.log or something. That will help you diagnose the configuration error.
This is my Xorg.0.log file:

Where are Scheduled Hardware Check results saved?
In Toolbox - Settings, Enable Scheduled Hardware Check is selected. It is set to run monthly. Where can I find the results of the check?
How is it scheduled? Does it check at boot up if today is the day to run the check?
I'm using Win Vista x64 Ultimate. ThanksPlease allow me to clarify a couple of points made on this thread. Before I do, I want to say I really appreciate your assistance Herik! You're the best.
1. LTT uses 2 scheduled tasks to help maintain your system:
"SystemToolsDailyTest" a daily scan of system health & security status
"PCDoctorBackGroundMonitorTask" - a monthly scan of your main hardware components
These are controlled by Windows Task Scheduler. We are not running any background services.
2. The logs folder mentioned (..\Application Data\PCDr\logs\) contains information that is primarily geared toward our developers if they need to troubleshoot the behavior of our application--not your hardware. Where you really want to look for test results and other information is in the application itself:
a. Go to the Lenovo Support section
b. Select Performance and Configuration History
c. Click on a colored icon to see the results for that category on that day
d. For the monthly check, look for results in the "Hardware Scan" row
3. You can also see the overall result (not the details) of the last scan:
a. Go to the System Health section
b. Select Scheduled Hardware Check
If you need more details, let me know.

Where to get Hardware (Java Card & Readers)
Hello
I am new to Java Card Technology. well i have Downloaded the Java Card 2.1.2 Devlp Kit. Thats fine , But from where should i get Hardware like Java Cards & Readers. I am working in Research Institute.
& wat are the steps to start with it.
Please guide me soon.Sun doesn't provide cards or readers. Their kit is serves two purposes. One is for the integrators that are shipping cards and readers. The other purpose is for developers to learn how to develop applet without a card. For example, no one is shipping 2.1.2 cards yet,( I don't think) but you can still develop a 2.1.2 applet with Sun's kit. You just won't have a card to deploy you applet to.
If you develop a 2.1.1 applet you can use Gemplus cards and deploy your applet there.
If you want to start developing go to www.javasoft.com/products/javacard. Download a sdk, and read tutorials. -
Where is the ojsp.conf file located
The tutorial is kind of misleading. The jsp file is ready and the tutorial tell me to do the following steps
Before you can run the application you need to make sure that your HTTP server is configured appropriately. Perform the following steps:
1. Edit the ojsp.conf in notepad. This file is typically found in the <ORACLE_HOME>\Apache\jsp\conf directory. Add the following alias:
BUT I DO NOT FIND ANY ojsp.conf file at all. I searched for it too. How to go forward on this.
Secondly my apache server is up and running when I hit http://hostname:7777
now under which directory should i place the folder containing the jps on the server to run the application
Thanks in advanceHi Mthompson,
Look at this on how to create the log file.
http://winrichman.blogspot.com/search/label/xdodebug
am sure, you did not create the email/smtp configuration, thats why you see this error. -
Where is /etc/modules.conf file
I installed the Fedora core 2 and hoped to run with oracle 9i RAC. Many documents indicate that I need to modify the /etc/modules.conf file. But I can't find this file.
Has this file no longer used in Fedora core 2? Has this file been moved to other location?
Please help.It is called /etc/modules on some distributions, but I cannot tell if this is the case in Fedora2

Where is niwebserver.conf?
I followed the steps recommended in LabVIEW help files but I can't get the file niwebserver.conf in my built application, just got an ini file.
I enabled the web server and create a html file. Built an application including it.
I have no idea of how configure the runtime web server without this configuration file.

Does xorg cache the parsed xorg.conf somewhere? It's strange that xorg still works without the file...
It isn't strange
After fresh instalation X works without xorg.conf in /etc/X11
Chek it
Yes, it loads with the "vesa" driver and the highest resolution your monitor will handle. -
Where is the hardware connection for TTL 0 on the NI Camera Link Extension board?
In the example project for the PCIe-1473, there is a TTL 0 I/O :
Yet, the user manual only shows TTL 1-8 :
Does this I/O pin exist?
Solved!
Go to Solution.I believe TTL 0 is the small SMB connector at the bottom of the card, below the two Camera Link connectors.

Lirc Remote + USB Soundcard
Hello,
I want use my old medion remote control to control my mpd server. The audio output is a philips stereo with "usb-pc-link", so it's a stereo with build in usb soundcard.
I got it all worked but just until I shutdown my stereo. After I shutdown my stereo the remote control doesn't work anymore. Then I have to restart the system, or restart the lirc deamoen two times (yes two times) until it works again.
I don't really know how to approach this problem.
A hint is, that I can control the media player on Windows with the remote of the stereo, so the phillips "usb-pc-link" is not just a soundcard, it's also an input device. I think this cause the trouble.
The remote control is connected with Lirc.

[SOLVED] lirc: command not found
Hello everyone,
I have an old MCE remote that i'd like to make use of. I've been trying to follow the archwiki, everything is good I installed LIRC and LIRC-utils, loaded lirc_mceusb, except for the part where I'm supposed to execute lirc for some reason I get an invalid command error even thought its installed. Am I missing something here?
archuser@archws ~ % lirc <12:32>
zsh: correct 'lirc' to 'lircd' [nyae]? n
zsh: command not found: lirc
Last edited by aluser (2011-02-26 04:22:25)The mceusb module ships with the kernel now, so the lirc package is no longer necessary. Simple initial setup:
Install lirc-utils
Copy /usr/share/lirc/remotes/mceusb/lircd.conf.mceusb to /etc/lirc/lircd.conf
Edit /etc/rc.conf and add mceusb to the MODULES array and lircd to the DAEMONS array
Edit /etc/rc.local and add
/usr/bin/ir-keytable -p lirc
Create ~/.lircrc and edit as required
Reboot
If double keystrokes are the problem now and you have a dib0700-based dvb card installed then create /etc/modprobe.d/dvb-usb.conf containing
options dvb_usb disable_rc_polling=1
I've got a model 1039 with the colour buttons and it works fine:
$ irw

Looks like my /etc/lirc/lircd.conf was wrong.
The irrecord is generating a wrong config with my hp rc-6 remote.
I was able to fix it with this post
