Where is "md5" command sol10x86 thanks

this should be an eay one for sol admins...
i'm new to solaris and having trouble finding md5 command
please advise
kind regards
phil

Solaris doesn't have the md5 command, so if you're looking to setup checksums for files and such then you could look into "sum(1)" and "cksum(1)" commands, or simply use 'bart(1)' to generate a full batch of file checksums.
However, I think you're looking for the "digest(1)" command. First see if it supports md5 by using "digest -l" and then you can use it. Another option is to grab the md5 tool from an older Solaris version or even Sun Freeware.

  • Host command, change directory where it opens command prompt

    I'm using the HOST command to host out to the command prompt. What I want to know is how to change the directory that the command prompt opens up at. I want it to open up at the c:\ but instead it's opening up at in the forms60 path where forms is installed.

    Hi Viktor,
         What i could understand from your question is that in the FTP server you'll be writing a file in folder A and once the writing is done you need to get it moved to Folder B using a 'CD' OS command. But this OS command is not allowed in the FTP server.
        If that is the case then it will be better to write the file directly into the Folder B. But in the file adapter use the option 'Use Temporary File'. In that case until and unless the file is written fully the file will be having the name .tmp or so.
        The advantage will be the third party server could be polling the folder B for a file *.txt in that case it won't pick this .tmp file.
    Cheers
    JK

  • Is there an md5 command in Solaris 11

    Hi All,
    We have a customer looking for the executable 'md5' command in Solaris11.  Cust has several scripts that has the md5 command hardcoded in their scripts, and would like to use the exact 'md5' command.  I inform them about the built-in /usr/bin/md5sum and /usr/bin/digest checksum utility in Solaris, but they're still looking for the md5 command cause it will be difficult for them to rewrite multple scripts, and also they mentioned that the output of digest is different from the md5 command output.
    Is there an md5 command available for Solaris 11?  is there an optional package that contains the md5 executable? Pls help. thanks.

    Hello
    the md5 of a file can be done using the command digest (man digest)
    example
    /usr/bin/digest -a md5 /usr/bin/ls
    821a17eb71fc5c409ec289ae90539484
    -bash-4.1$ uname -a
    SunOS xxxxx.11 11.2 sun4v sparc sun4v
    the disgest command is installed in the core-os pkg
    basename   file   usr/bin/digest
    pkg:/system/[email protected]

  • Md5 command inside of .mpkg directories?

    Hello.
    I found out that .mpkg is actually directory and not a file. Is that correct? I was using Mac OS X 10.7.4's Terminal's md5 command to compare files until it said .mpkg was a directory. I also cannot seem to find a way to make it MD5 recursively. Is there a way to do this? I am basically comparing a burned CD files and my local copies.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Where are the commands?

    I am just starting with my new Flash CS4 and I'm confused about the Commands menu. I want to create a slide show, and all the instruction that I've read say to start by clicking on Commands->Create Slideshow. But when I look in the commands menu, I don't see "Create Slideshow" or much of anything else, either. Where is Create Slideshow? This is the very first time I've used Flash CS4, so there may be some setup necessary to make the command(s) available, but I don't see anything like that in the instructions that I've found so far. Where is "Create Slideshow"?
    Thanks for your help,

    I still can't figure this out. This is probably a simple newby issue, but what is the Flash CS4 Commands menu supposed to contain on installation? Might I need to install something else to populate it with the "Make Slideshow". All the information that I've seen online seems to imply that it's part of the initial installation.
    Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give me on this.

    Be aware that a default encoding of UTF-16 as shows in your screenshot may lead to problems.<br />
    The default is Western (ISO-8859-1) and you should change the default encoding to that setting unless you have changed that deliberately to UTF-16 for specific web pages, but even in that case it is better to make the change via View > Character Encoding or set Auto-Detect to Universal or UTF-16.

    The YouTube app is not included in iOS 6. You will either need to try one of the YouTube apps from the store (there is an iPhone optimised app from google), or try accessing it via Safari : http://m.youtube.com (you can create a home screen shortcut for the site)

  • Disable clearing of /tmp on boot - where is the command in rc.sysinit

    Hi there, I want to disable the clearing of the /tmp folder on boot, but I can't seem to find the appropriate line in etc/rc.sysinit.
    Apparently this should be the line
    /bin/mountpoint -q /tmp || /bin/rm -rf /tmp/* /tmp/.* &>/dev/null
    but my rc.sysinit does not contain that at all:
    mountpoint -q /proc || mount -n -t proc proc /proc -o nosuid,noexec,nodev
    mountpoint -q /sys || mount -n -t sysfs sys /sys -o nosuid,noexec,nodev

    || mount -n -t tmpfs udev /dev -o mode=0755,size=10M,nosuid
    mkdir -p -m 1777 /run/lock
    mkdir -p /dev/{pts,shm}
    mountpoint -q /dev/pts || mount -n /dev/pts &>/dev/null \
    || mount -n -t devpts devpts /dev/pts -o mode=0620,gid=5,nosuid,noexec
    mountpoint -q /dev/shm || mount -n /dev/shm &>/dev/null \
    || mount -n -t tmpfs shm /dev/shm -o mode=1777,nosuid,nodev
    Also the "remove_leftover" function doesn't seem to be about cleaning /tmp... ?
    Where is the command that clears /tmp located in this file?

    From man at:
    NAME
           at, batch, atq, atrm - queue, examine or delete jobs for later execution
    SYNOPSIS
           at [-V] [-q queue] [-f file] [-mldbv] TIME
           at -c job [job...]
           atq [-V] [-q queue]
           atrm [-V] job [job...]
           batch
    DESCRIPTION
           at  and  batch read commands from standard input or a specified file which are
           to be executed at a later time, using /bin/sh.
           at      executes commands at a specified time.
           atq     lists the user's pending jobs, unless the user is  the  superuser;  in
                   that  case,  everybody's  jobs  are  listed.  The format of the output
                   lines (one for each job) is: Job number, date, hour, queue, and  user‐
                   name.
           atrm    deletes jobs, identified by their job number.
           batch   executes commands when system load levels permit; in other words, when
                   the load average drops below 0.8, or the value specified in the  invo‐
                   cation of atd.
    Very useful. I need it everyday.
