Where is "measure tool" - it is to weep . . .

So, I'm humiliating myself . . . what the hell, it's not like I'm using my real name.
Windows XP Home SP3
Photoshop v7.0
I was looking for a quick way to rotate an image arbitrarily.  I looked through the forum here and found a reference to the "measure tool".  I went all through Photoshop and couldn't find it.  I checked the documentation and it says how to use it but not where to find it.
I made a half-hearted search here in the forum, but I doubted anybody would offhandedly mention it while dealing with something else.
I can't find it.  Toolbox - can't find it.  Menu - can't find it.  Help - can't find it.  Palette - guess.
Please tell me where it is.  For the love of God.

Hi,
It's in your toolbox. It's housed in the same slot as the eye dropper and color sampler tool. If you click on the little black triangle at that location you'll get a fly out menu and can select that tool. Alternately, you can use the shortcut I. (Click i until it rotates into to the topmost slot and becomes the active tool...unless you have the box for use shift key for tool switch checked in the preferences which would make the shortcut shift + i.
Below is a link to an old tutorial for Photoshop 7 on using the measure tool. It also discusses using the tool to straighten an image.

  • Where can I find information about using the measurement tool and log?

Am try to use the measurement tool to measure perspective plain; any ideas?

No one can remotely have "any ideas" to help you when you don't even mention what your problem is nor what your system and workflow are like.
Of course, when you post here, one assumes you have done your due diligence, read the documentation, the user guide, the Help files in the Photoshop Help menu, as well as done Google and forum searches, etc, and we would expect some sensible, detailed information from you.
Teaching someone Photoshop from scratch, step by step, exceeds the scope of this forum—or any other forum.

  • Measure tool in Photoshop CS6

why is the unit of measurement displayed when using the measure tool wrong? I have changed it in the units and rulers in preferences but it is still wrong.

    Hello Emma,
It works ok for me here. Where are you reading the measurement? (Info Panel? Ruler Tool Option Bar?)
Is your Photoshop up to date?

  • Changing decimal places in measuring tool

    Hi everyone,
I often use the measuring tool to measure old scanned drawings, it is very useful but it supplies two decimal places for mm dimensions, this is really too much.  I am not able to find any place where this setting can be changed.
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Claudio

thank you for your inputs, Jeevan.  we've tried up to 100,000 since any more will make the PO exceed the original contract amount.
the contract involved will be delivered in a span of many months, and billing and payments will depend on percentage of completion.
i hope someone can enlighten me as to how other companies do it, best practice or not.  i'm pretty sure those in construction or property development will find this case familiar. or maybe point me to an article or anything.
thank you for taking the time.

  • Tools/Menu Items in Photoshop 6 ("Where is the * Tool now?")

So, you've been working with Photoshop 5.0 or 5.5 and you are used to seeing the tools laid out before you in a certain way. Now you install Photoshop 6.0 and your entire interface is messed up. Where IS everything??
Once you get into using Photoshop 6.0, you'll find that it's not really messed up. The most frequently used items are laid out for easier and quicker access.
Below is a list of some of the most frequently (and not so frequently) asked questions concerning the location of your favorite tools.

    >
    TOOLBOX TOOLS
    Crop Tool
It's graduated from the Rectangular Marquee pop out menu to it's own button-third one down on the left. Whoohoo!
    Gradient tool
It's no longer hiding behind the Eyedropper Tool. It has its own button, which hides the Paint Bucket tool.
    Line Tool
It's now listed behind the Custom Shape Tool. You can access this by holding down on the Custom Shape Tool Button until the Line Tool pops out.
    Liquify
    Under the Image Menu.
    Measure Tool
It's in the Eyedropper Tool flyout. You can access this by clicking and holding down on the Eyedropper Tool until the Measure Tool appears.
    Paint Bucket
It's in the Gradient Tool flyout. You can access this by clicking and holding down on the Gradient Tool until the Paint Bucket Tool appears.
    Pencil Tool
It's in the Brush Tool flyout. You can access this by clicking and holding down on the Brush Tool until the Pencil Tool appears.
    Rubber Stamp
It's there. It's been renamed the "Clone Stamp".
    Type Masks
They are now a part of the Options Bar.

  • Measuring Tool hangs with Not Responding on a Windows 7

Is anyone else experiencing a problem with the Area Measuring Tool in 11.0.09 where there are consistent and multiple instances where the file will lock up with Not Responding for a full minute or two?  Yes, the file is large.  It is 100 mb in size; however, I can recreate the same problem on a much smaller pdf; but of course the recovery time is about a second or less and, therefore, less noticeable.
The specs of the workstation is as follows:
    * Fully Patched Windows 7
    * Ram 8 GB
    * Processor:  Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3340M CPU @ 2.70GHz
    * Drive:  320.5 GB free out of 444.3 GB
To correct the issue, I downgraded to 11.0.06 without issues.

Had same issue with Firefox 8.0 in Windows 7 Home Premium-64 bit.
I disabled the VLC Multimedia Plug-in & problem was solved.
Click Tools (in Firefox)>>Add ons>>Plugins. Then find "VLC Multimedia Plug-in version...." and click "Disable".
In earlier versions of Firefox the culprit proved to be the "Realplayer Browser Record Plugin".

  • Adobe Elements 7 have a Measuring Tool?

Just installed adobe elements 7 and am looking for the measuring tool that in previous versions was located with eyedropper.   We use it for making angular measurements between two intersecting lines.   While Elements has a straightening tool, this will automatically reposition my image depending on what line I draw, but will not allow me to make my measurements.   Does anyone know where measuring tool is now located?
    Thanks for your help.

A workaround in Elements is to use the line tool with the info palette open. As you draw the line, the info palette will display the line's length and angle. (Make a note of the angle/line length before releasing the mouse button as this info disappears once you release the mouse button.) Edit: Alternately, you could drag out your line at the desired angle and use it as a guide.
If you only need the length and height, drag out a rectangular marquee around the object to be measured. The info palette will display the marquee's width and height.

  • 3D document, measure tool disabled

I have been searching this topic and I can't find anything conclusive on this situation.   I have Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.10.  I would like to take measurements of parts on a 3D PDF.  These folks are outsourcing work to us to build and I can't get measurements that I need from the notations they have made.  I know the measure tool will solve my issues, I have seen it in use, but I don't have access.  I have the following tools available above my 3D image:
I know the ruler / measure tool belongs up in the left section of tools but mine isn't there.  I have the Extended toolbar and I can see the Measuring Tool is disabled here.  Object Data Tool & Geospatial Location Tool aren't helping me.
I have looked at the document security settings and nothing stands out to me that says I have limited access this way.  How do I activate my ruler? or if this functionality has been deactivated by the document author, where can I find that out conclusively?

The tool needs to be enabled using Acrobat. For example, in Acrobat 9 you'd open the document and select: Comments > Enable for Commenting and Analysis in Adobe Reader
    or
Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader

And there is no measure tool in PSE, only in PS.

  • Change Default Preferences - Measurment Tool - Acrobat Pro

When the measurement tool in Acrobat Pro a default setting somehow was made so that when you measure an area the same default polygon appears.
Does anyone know how to fix this so that the polygon that you measure is the one that shows up? Possibly by deleting the some preference file> If so where is this preference file?
    Thank you very much

    SOLVED!
To get rid of your "Use these settings as default": Simply delete the equivalent keys under "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1778856060-1634827353-635260049-13282\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\7.0\Annots\cAnnots"
    That worked for me.

I am using Adobe reader ver 11.0.09 and my computer freezes for about 30 seconds when I use the measure tool after I select the first point, and this is only the first time using after I use it once it works fine.

  • Where is the tool to select a portion of an image to crop?

I am new to PS cc 2014.  Where is the tool to select a potion of an image to crop?

You'll find the Crop Tool on the Toolbar.  It might be behind the Slice or Perspective Crop tool.

A small triangle on the tool icons denotes that other tools are located below.

  • How do I activate the measure tool?

I am receiving some of these 3D PDFs from customers and I need to extract measurements from them.  I have seen other users demonstrate a measurement tool.  I don't have this tool, I believe it should exist in this toolbar.
I am using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10).  Here is a shot at my plugin window.  Can anyone help me determine what I am missing?

I can not get mine to highlight at all. How do I get it to do so. Also how do I find out if it is a image or a document?

Also how do i convert my pdf to a word document?

  • Can't open PDF enabled for Measuring Tool

Help please!! I need the measuring tool via Reader X. So per this forum, I had the creator of the PDF do the following in Acrobat...
    File>Save As>Reader Extended PDF>Enable Commenting and Measuring
Then I tried opening the PDF, but I get this error...
Adobe Reader could not open "XXXXXX.pdf" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
The file IS a .pdf file type and I am accessing it via a shared drive (not email) and I don't know how you'd tell whether it was damaged. Do I need to change some other setting on Reader X? Is there a technical solution that is not obvious? Or do I need to go back to the drawing board and work with the creator?!
    Thank you!

    Hi SGckc,
This document is almost certainly a dynamic XFA form. Unfortunately, our mobile Reader does not support displaying or filling such forms. The application that produces this form embeds this message into the document so that non-supportive viewers (like ours) will display this "error" page when the document opens. I do realize that this is confusing and I would like to add some additional detection to our Reader for this case. However, we've avoided doing this for fear of confusing users even further. Your feedback helps though. Hopefully we'll find a way to detect this case and present a better message to the user like: This form is not supported by the mobile version of the Adobe Reader. Please open and fill it on the non-mobile version of the Adobe Reader for Windows, Linux or Mac OSX.
    Thank you for contacting us!
