Where is Media Manager?

I was able to use my computer to stream music onto my PC, however, after I went over to WIndows 8, this stopped because of compatibility issues. Now I went back to see if maybe there was an update to the software so I could try again, and Media Manager is no longer around? I have went to the My Apps section, and all they have available is apps for smartphones, which I don't have.
I know the option is still available on my STB. So where's Media Manager?

Previous contributor is correct. I just went looking for it and all I could find is this message.
http://www22.verizon.com/support/residential/Tv/FiosTv/Guide/Enhanced+TV/QuestionsOne/124941.htm
So apparently if you have it, you can keep it. If you don't, you're out of luck. Wonder how this will affect those who have purchased movies, left Verizon, and still want to access them?

  • Media Manager - Can I alphabetize the Artists?

When I browse by artist through my STB they appear to be in random order.  This makes it real difficult to find anything.  How does media manager choose the order to display the Artists.  Maybe I'm missing something.  I have over 500 artists on my PC and even though i'm only sharing about 100 of them with my STB I'm always going nuts trying to find what i'm looking for.
Just an aside, I love the idea of the Media Manager but the interface and lack of preferences leave A LOT to be desired.  I feel like i'm always fighting with the thing to do what I want.  I hope they do better on the new version, if it ever gets released.

Until Verizon sorts this out, does anybody know where the Media Manager stores the music list on the PC. I could at least perform a manual sorting until the software gets smarter.

  • Audio/Video Out of Sync While Using Media Manager

While viewing most video files through Media Manager, the audio is a fraction behind the video. It is not significant but it is noticeable. I have looked at the Media Manager sticky but the posts are on all different areas where the Media Manager is flawed.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to correct this issue? I may just go back to using my original set-up. It's very surprising how bad this application is. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi mhiggins8450, I just read your post about the trouble you're having with the Media Manager.  Have you had this problem since installing the software or has this issue just started recently?  If it's been a problem since the beginning, you may want to look at removing the software and reinstalling a fresh copy.  The newest version can be found at:
    http://www.verizon.com/mediamanager
If it's a problem that just started happening, you may want to try and reset the units.  The best way to do this would be to power down your PC, unplug the router and unplug your STB.  Leave everything unplugged for five minutes.  From this point, plug the router back in and wait for it to boot up (the Internet light will go GREEN when it's complete).  Now plug the STB back in and wait for the time to display on the front of the box.  Now turn your PC back on.  Test the Media Manager and see what happens.
If you're still having troubles, please don't hesitate to re-post or send me a direct message.
    Thanks!

  • Where is the Media Manager in Desktop 6.0.0.40 ??????

Last night the BlackBerry Desktop Manager wanted to do an update.  I've done these updates in the past so I thought it would be safe.
This new version - 6.0.0.40 (Released August 3, 2010 Bundle 42) does not have the Roxio Media manager.  I have to be able to copy files between the BlackBerry file system and my PC.  Not just from the music, pictures and video directories.  I have files in other locations of the file system for my application.
      Paul

I too had the same problem not being able to access any of my files in device memory after upgrading to DM6. Mass storage device is turned on.  I posted this issue on Aug 12 with no reply from RIM/BB with a fix.  I therefore was forced to reinstall DM5 with Roxio Media Manager and can once again access all my files on my device and move them around.  Now I have two DM'S running on my desktop.  As I stated in my post, I'm not impressed with DM6 at all!  Why release something that doesn't work? In my opinion it's a downgrade!

  • Vcast Media Manager -- where is support for 64-bit windows computers??

I purchased a Droid 2 in October, when I plug it into my computer it brings up Verizon Vcast Media Manager page to download that program (which is good because I want to get my music onto my phone from my desktop computer).  But only after download attempt does it tell me that said program will only support a 32-bit operating system.  Well, I, my wife, and a lot of other people have a 64-bit operating system.  Is Verizon really that far behind the times?  Seriously has no one noticed this, a 32-bit machine is outdated these days.  Why can i not hook my Droid up to my puter, I thought this was smartphone technology...  Maybe the phone is smarter than Verizons Programmers??   To VZW, please correct me if I am wrong, or fix the problem if I am correct.

Currently there is no 64bit version available at this time, and no ETA to when one will be available. I would recommend as an alternative using the Droid 2 as a mass storage drive to transfer music. I have included the instruction in an article below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=34780
If it still does not recognize it as a device, try putting it in USB debugging mode. Instruction article given below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=31366
***As long as a memory card is present in the device, it will show up as a drive on your personal computer. Once it shows up as a drive, you can drag and drop music and media files on the Droid 2.

  • Media Manager does not appear on my second stb

I downloaded Verizon Media Manager and installed it without problems.  When I checked my HD stb the program is listed and I could use it.  I do not have any kind of recorder on the network.  When I check my non HD stb the VMM does not appear.  This is the unit I want to use as it will allow me to play music through the home theater sound system.
So, am I limited because I do not have a recorder or does the feature not work on non HD stb?  If this is the case, I might as well delete the program from my PC.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi. I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately at this time, the standard def STBs do not work with Media Manager. It doesn't have to be a DVR, but the stb has to be an HD box. If you do not wish to upgrade the STD box at this time and depending on your setup, you can always swap the STBs and move the media manager functionality to where you want it.

  • Creating a new project with media manager

This one should be obvious but I can't quite figure it out: I used media manager to recompress my project into a smaller one. Media manager did a nice job with that and placed all the files into a new folder BUT - where is the actual project file?? If I use the actual fcp project file from the original- the settings are all different and it told me that some media files are missing or too short. Doesn't media manager create a new project file that works with the new recompressed files that it just created??

BUT - where is the actual project file??
When you have decided on the settings in Media Manager and then tell it to do the job, the first thing you see is a dialog asking where to save the project file. Use Spotlight to search for it.
If that doesn't turn anything up, start MM again, it might have remembered the last Save location.

  • BB 8330 Media Manager, Media Sync hanging - not connecting...

(I just know this is treated in depth somewhere but after a couple of hours of searching, I can't find it so appologies in advance...)
I have a BB 8330 from Verizon running v4.5.0.77 - no media card.
    Using Device Manager, the:
    Driver version is: 4.1.0.4
Driver Node Strong Name is: oem25.inf:RIM:RimUsb.Device.NT:4.1.0.4:usb\vid_0fca&pid_8004&mi_00
Windows thinks the driver is up to date.
    I am running  Desktop Manager v4.7.0.32[Nov 4 2008]
When I launch DM, I can successfully Back up my BB.
On my Vista PC - When I attempt to launch  Media Manager 9, it has found the files in the Library but it goes into a wierd loop where it keeps seeing the F: drive and then removes it and then resets and then sees it again - forever (or at least for the day that I left it in that loop)
I loaded the DM on another PC running XP and observe a similar behavior - it's not quite as zippy so it just looks more like a hang
To try something different, I downloaded Media Sync v2.0.0.22 and, when the BB is connected, I get the error: "BlackBerry Media Sync failed to connect to your BlackBerry device. Click Retry to try again or Cancel to disconnect." - I get the same error with and without the DM running.
Something seems sort of hinky in that, while my BB is plugged in on my Vista system, occassionall I get the lights flashing on my keyboard like someting is resetting the USB every few minutes (unrelated Vista crap?).
    Please help...

You are going to want to get a media card if planning to add music-ringtones-pictures-videos.  Don't want to use up device memory.  It'll go fast.

  • Media Manager - Images tranferred - Displays a red X

Have 8703e BB. Have Internet Services turned off directly by Sprint - don't need it and do not want to be charged for the non-communication Casual Data Usage (a slick illegal method cell phone companies charge when internet services are turned off - had to file federal charges before they took it off my bill). Can't download ringtones or pictures.
Tried to transfer ringtones and images a while ago and Media Manager would not recognize my device. Finally found out that without an external card, the Media Manager would not recognize my device.
However, just installed the new OS and Desktop Manager 4.2.2.14 with Media Manager and it recognizes my device!
I transferred a ringtone from my PC to my device and...YES...Viva La Vida plays!!!!
BUT, two images I transferred show up with a generic image thumbnail and the picture displayed is just a small red X in the upper left hand corner. Yet, when I highlight the folder in the device in Media Manager, the pictures display very clearly.
To also clarify, the pictures reside in MEDIA>PICTURES>DEVICE MEMORY
Under properties for the folder, the file path is - /Device Memory/home/user/pictures
The sizes of the pictures are 37KB and 65KB, hardly any different than the images in the Preloaded Pictures folder, which path is /Device Memory/samples/pictures
Is this a BB issue or Media Manager issue? As I said, the ringtone transferred and works, the images transferred and are listed, but don't display. Anyone have a solution to this problem?
I've reset the device by taking the battery out, etc. Nothing. Pictures still give me the red x.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Ok, so this has been driving me nuts for such a long time. I did everything that anyone suggested and nothing worked. This included creating a new temp internet files folder, checking and unchecking all the appropriate boxes, creating a new profile, and
most other things suggested. Then I cam across something on a forum (sorry I don't know the link) that made me think. I looked through the reg to the key HKCU>Software>Microsoft>Office>15.0
(I use outlook 2013 but previous versions of office were there as well.)>Outlook>Security>OutlookSecureTempFolder. My setting was C:\Users\"USER"\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\TIF\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\B5U77NH4\.
NOTE: TIF is where I chose to create the new Temporary Internet Files folder. Ur most likely will be different or not there at all!!!
What I realized was that the last folder in this setting was different that the actual folder on my harddrive. So I edited just the last folder B5U77NH4 to be the same as the folder on my HDD. WALA this worked and works great currently. All the other fixes
sometimes worked for a short while but always reverted back.  I do have to say though that prior to doing this I went into Internet Options and deleted all the browsing history. EVERYTHING it sucked for freq visited websites but I wanted to start fresh.
Then I physically selected every item that was still in my Temp Internet files folder, even B5U77NH4 and manually deleted every item. That way any folder that was created dynamically would be gone. What was left and would not delete was B5U77NH4 so that is
the folder I chose to copy into the registry.
]This has been so frustrating but now it seems to work. I hope this helps.

  • Deleting unused media in Media Manager not working

This is one of those cases where I get really frustrated with Apple...
I've captured some footage from VHS using 'capture now', and the media that was created has a bunch of blank frames at the beginning and end. I'd like to remove the excess media from the clip to save space.
I'm following the directions EXACTLY as shown in the section "Creating Independent Media Files From Subclips After Capturing" from the Final Cut Pro User Manual on page 377 selecting subclips I want to keep and using Media Manager to delete unused media, but my media hasn't gotten any smaller, and the blank frames in the original media are still there if I reconnect it.
Furthermore, I've tried using media manager to copy the referenced media (from a subclip) to a new clip, and it just copies the whole file.
How can I get rid of this excess waste of space!!?

Well, does this footage have timecode? A REEL number? If you captured as NON-CONTROLLED device the footage might not have timecode, and without timecode the Media Manager cannot track exactly what you want to remove...what footage you want set aside and copied as the rest is deleted. This is also the case if you don't have a reel number. You might have 5 clips all with the same starting timecode but no reel number.

  • Media Manager: What features do work?  What doesn't?

    Hi,
For those people for whom the media manager works, what works? What doesn't? What version of FCP and MacOS are you using?
I've just spent the last several hours trying to reconnect clips by hand after FCP 5.0.4 crashed while using the Media Manager to consolidate Media Files into one folder (from the manual volume 4 pg 104-105) for archiving. I am beginning to despair. Luckily I've done this after writing out what should be the final version of my project to DVD, so if I can't succeed, as long as I don't need to edit anything I should be ok.
I can tell you what's not working for me: the workflow of capture-now an entire miniDV tape to disk. I've tried many different approaches, and everything seems broken. I am using Mac OS X 10.3.9 and FCP 5.0.4.
Specifically the aspects of Media Manager which are broken for me:
    1) (page 103) Removing Portions of Media Files after creating subclips. "A common logging and capturing workflow involves capturing each tape to a single media file, breaking the master clip into subclips, and then using the Media Manager to create individual media files for each subclip."
That is just plain broken. Even when I delete the master file as recommended, it does not break up the media file into individual files for the subclips. I've seen that problem referenced here before. Creating subclips from the subclips and removing subclip limits gives me the entire 1 hr tape again, when all I want is the smaller portion which does not cross DV start/stop boundaries.
Talking with a creative helper at the Palo Alto Apple store I learned that if you don't delete any media between clips, it doesn't make a file break. I have not tested that, instead I used the alternate workflow he proposed of selecting my subclips (created from the markers made with DV start/stop detect) ctrl-click -> batch export, item settings: make movie self contained. Unfortunately, I discovered the hard way that that workflow introduces errors in the time code, making recapturing the project to reconstruct it impossible.
    2) Consolidating Media Files into one folder (pg 104-105) - This is also broken and caused FCP to quit unexpectedly. Both the source and destination disk had enough disk space to hold two or more copies of the entire project. What's worse, although I've been able to reconnect most of the clips created using the batch export process menioned above, some of them complain that they need the complete 1-hr clip to play properly. Those clips were deleted weeks ago, and I was able to edit and work on the project successfully without them. Why are they needed now? The small clips do appear on disk, I can see them but they won't play without the long file.
Nothing I've tried with the media manager has worked. Has anything worked for you? I'm especially interested if you use the "capture now" feature to capture 1-hr tapes and log later.
    Thanks,

I use MM all the time, but only for certain things. I can share some observations:
If you are using MM to "Create Offline - Remove Unused", the original media all needs to be present in order for the unused media to be removed from the offline clips MM creates. This is they way I use MM all the time - capturing long clips at RT or DV quality, and then removing unused media with MM, recapturing at high quality.
I might try to use MM to copy media used in a certain sequence, but I would never try to move the media in a way that would automatically remove or alter any of my already captured media. If FCP crashed in the middle of the operation (perhaps it hits a file with incorrect permissions) your media will be half-moved, and some of the media might get corrupted. I have reassembled a few projects like this for friends and it was not easy.
Speed adjusted clips - I still see TC issues every now and then when using MM on speed-adjusted clips - here is my workaround: I go through my edited sequence and pick out as many of the speed-adjusted clips as I can find, copying and pasting them into a new sequence, where I remove the speed adjustments. I include this new sequence in my selection when I initiate MM, this creates new master clips for the speed-adjusted material that are guaranteed to come up with the correct in and out points. If during my re-assembly I find that and of these clips have a problem, I know there will be enough media in the master clip to replace the speed-adjusted media without having to log and capture a new clip.
One major bug in MM I have found with FCP5 is that when using MM to convert a DV sequence to an Uncompressed offline sequence, any graphics or animation movie files (animation codec) can no longer be rendered at full quality without replacing them one by one. My last project had 70 of these files in a 1-hour program.

  • Verizon Media Manager and Aperture

I just upgraded from iPhoto to Aperture.  Verizon Media Manager (VMM) sort of recognizes Aperture, but not completely.  It finds the Faces and Locations, but not the Projects.  I am using version 9.1.42 of VMM.  I saw in the pinned section that someone was using version 9.2.  Where can I get this version?

    mustbjones wrote:
Yes there is but it says that the update service is temporarily disabled.
Here is the link for the Mac download from Verizon: http://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/web/UnProtected/MediaManager.aspx?os=Mac.  It is likely the current version.

  • Media manager and EXIF rotation data

My parents have FiOS and I recently helped them setup the Media Manager software so that they can view their pictures on the TV.  It works great, except for images that have been taken with the camera rotated.  Most other applications (Picasa, Canon ZoomBrowser, etc) are able to read the EXIF and rotate the image accordingly.  What is Verizon's timeframe for implementing this fairly basic feature into Media Manager?  If it is there, I apologize, and please let me know where it is - I was unable to find it.

When you say rotate the photos using media manager, I assume you mean the PC component?  I suppose I could do that,  but that's really annoying (like you said).  Also, the problem is that then I believe that wouldn't they show up rotated wrongly in all of the other software (zoombrowser, picasa, etc) that does support the exif data for 'this side up' ?
When you say you don't use it anymore, have you found another solution that can export photos to the Home Media DVR?  That's what my parents really want - the actual PC software, they'd prefer to use Picasa etc as that's what they're already used to.
