Where is my backup??

Hi there,
Im really hoping someone can solve this for me....
Before getting rid of my old blackberry I backed up using the Desktop Software. I also downloaded all of my photos onto my PC. At the time this all seemed to work fine. However I have now just gone back to the backup folder and it appears to be empty?! As does the folder I created to keep the downloaded photos!
Are the files there and encryped or something? I did delete the desktop software recently to make room on my PC, but assumed the backup folder and folder with downloaded photos would not be touched!? (Especially since I moved the photo folder onto my external harddrive) If the files would have been deleted with the software is there any way of restoring them?
Any help greatly appreciated as I had hundreds of photos stored that I really don't want to lose

Open a Finder Window.
Start by clicking on the icon under "Places" that is a little house and the name of it is your name. It's probably right below the Desktop icon.
In the "house" folder named after you, there should be a folder called "Library"
In the Library folder, there should be a folder called "Application Support"
In the Application Support folder, there should be a folder called "MobileSync"
And in the MobileSync folder, there should be a folder called "Backup"
The backup folder will have a long, funny name that's a combination of letters and numbers.

  • Where does iphone backup when hooked to mac

When I plug my iphone into my Mac.  It automatically backups up when iTunes launches.  Where does it backup to and can I turn this off?

Just to 'Help' and not to 'Bash', my personal experiences are that having backups enabled (both in iCloud and on my Mac) is a VERY secure and safe set of options, even if I have to select each option independently in order to benefit from both!
Having had a Mac failure and a 'connected device' failure in succession, I've been able to recover both from backups (including a Time Capsule in the mix) without ANY data-loss, solely because of having adequate backups in the 'Apple' world linked to my AppleID.
I have friends who think that Apple has some 'other' motive for backups: something to do with spying on individuals (or other mistaken reasoning).
Someone said "Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean that they're not out to get you!", but who is SO important that Apple would waste their time using their SERVICES to HARM any individual by spying on them?  If an individual is worried about 'others' having access to Apple, then perhaps that individual needs to think more about their possibly 'questionable' activities which might make that individual a target for the 'others' about whom they are so concerned?
To me, if a company offers a service and breaks its own rules surrounding that service then SUE THEM FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL!!  Otherwise, use the service, wisely, for your own benefit!

  • Where is the backup created when istalling ios5?

I did like many of you the installation of operating system 5. I believe iTunes created a backup during this process. Where is that backup? I cannot restore from iTunes using such backup. iTunes does not have a backup on that day.
    Thanks.

If you are referring to an update from iOS 4 to iOS5, your itunes would have made a back up of your iOS devices content - music, apps, etc.  But, once you update to a new OS like iOS5 you can't go back to the old OS. (At least not easily)  You might do a search on the forums to see if other users were able to do that on past OS...if that is what you are asking. ???

  • Stickies, where is the backup file?

Stickies, where is the backup file?
I saved some u/n and p/w data in stickies on my older bronze (which I now need) and reformatted the disk when attempting to install OSX (which failed time and time again), but I'm hoping that I saved the Stickies data somewhere on a cd backup? I can only hope, but ran out of places to look ... any suggestions? Where is stickies data stored? ..... and where and how does everyone else store passwords and usernames and such?

    Hi, Dennis -
One way to handle spam is to use an email service provider which allows the generation of alias email addresses. One such is Apple's .Mac service - the email service provided as part of a .Mac account includes the option of creating as many aliases to the real account address as one wishes.
An aliased email address can be given or posted where needed, and any mail sent to it ends up in the 'real' account. Once the alias address starts drawing excessive spam, the alias can be discarded.

  • Where are textedit backups

Textedit preferences indicate that the application makes periodic automatic backups while work is underway — and gives the user the option of having those backups deleted when the file is saved. I recently experienced a power failure with a sizable document unsaved in textedit. But I'm not sure where the textedit backup files are saved.
Can anyone tell me where textedit backup files are stored?
Does textedit make a backup of a new document that has been worked on but has not yet been saved at all?
Thanks for any help. Please let me know if this question should be posted in some other forum; I took a guess on this one.

    Hi Greg,
this Q was posted a while ago.
Did you solve your problem ?- Eeven IF you didn't find textedit backup file(s) there are ways n means of finding the text that yr looking for-
BUT, CAVEAT (=watch out for caves.. :)) usually as I tell my (exclusive) clientele it's only probable if they 'follow the rules'
    and, RULE ONE is:
STOP :- Do Nothing further with that disk/computer before you call me
    - and I do mean *Nothing - use a different Computer if you have to.*
    Rule 2:
    There is NO Rule 2.
but - depending on circumstance, there may still be a way to find some/most/all .
*+Please post back.+* Even if you are now ok/have recreated or retyped the text, our dialogue will help Those Who Come Later.

  • Where has my backup gone (from iPad to a Mac)?

I recently synced my adressbook from my MacMini to my iPad, but when the process starts it says that it will take a security copy. My internal harddrive memory started to decrease but nothing happened with the iTunes Library the iPad was synced to! This library was located on an external harddrive.
Another time recently I made a full synchronization. Since last time I synced I had downloaded some apps directly to my iPad though AppStore, but these new apps did not appear in the library I synced to. I have no idea where the copies of these apps in the iTunesMedia-folder are. Only apps from an older sync are there. So where is my backup of the latest apps? Why was my internal harddrive memory space decreasing during the security backup process? (The "new" backuped files are definitely not on my internal hard drive even if he memory space decreased.) Do anybody have any idea what happened? Or is this a serious bug in iTunes 10.1.1 which I recently downloaded. My impression is that the problem starts after installing this iTunes-version.

    - The backup file is stored in a different location than your media library and there is no way to change the location of the backup file. You can find the location of the backup file here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
    - Although apps usually transfer to your computer, you should try to do it manually. see:

where is the backup assistant or how do I get my contacts?  just switched to the S5 from a blackberry curve...

Congrats on your new S 5! It's a great device. Did you previously use Backup Assistant on your Blackberry Curve? To retrieve your contacts through backup assistant on the S 5 the backup must have first been completed on the Blackberry Curve.

i used to connect the ipad or iphone to computer to make the backup . I need to know where is the backup path on computer?

The following quotation is from iTunes: About iOS backups
Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on your computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in these places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows XP:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

    WHERE ARE BACKUPS LOCATED
ITunes stores one active backup and each time a backup is created the old backup is overwritten.  Icloud saves the last three backups.  You cannot view the backups unless you have special software to read it.  If you want to know where the backups are located on your computer then read this article

  • Where does RMAN backup go?

Hello, this is probably a very stupid question :), but..
We are on Oracle 10.2.0.3 and we have RMAN catalog set up on a different from the target database server. When I configure channel device type in a specific format, where would the actual backup set go - on the server where RMAN is located or on the server where the target database is located?
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '/oradata/backups/coldbackup/ora_df%t_s%s_s%p';
I have set this to the directory of the target database...
Also, if I didnt specify a channel, where would the backup be created by default?
ok, nevermind, it went to the target database server..
