Where is my beloved LiveCycle?

I just updated my Enterprise Cafe and opened it to find not my beloved little blue LC icon for LiveCycle but this new imposter icon that looks like a doily my grandmother used to have on her cocktail table.
Promise me that you are not phasing out LiveCycle. I truly love this program. I love that we are able to make magic happen on our forms.  I work for the state and we only use LiveCycle as a forms designer program (at least in my department) and I started with version 7 being given the program and told to "figure it out". LiveCycle and I have had many emotional days. Some giddily embracing and some locked in a death struggle. But we persevered and grew together into this wonderful bond of loyalty I've never experienced with my human counterparts.
But I felt stabbed in the heart this morning by this mask my LiveCycle is wearing.  Assure me that I will still have a place in LiveCycle's life as it grows into something greater than it's ever been. I'll be there for you, LiveCycle....don't forget me.

We currently have a certification exam for Designer ES2.  You can get the details and a study guide on the certification website:  http://www.adobe.com/support/certification/exams/.
We are in the process of updating all our enterprise exams for the ADEP launch.  The updated Designer exam should be available in September.  If you have any specific questions on the LC related exams, feel free to email me directly at bobailey @ adobe.com.

  • Where do I purchase livecycle? It is disabled? Is it being discontinued?

I have a bunch of adobe forms that was done by a developer who used LiveCycle and i now need to modify them.
I downloaded a trial version to modify them and want to purchase LiveCycle but the option is not there?
Can someone tell me how I can purchase it and utilize it.
I downloaded a trial version but we will be creating more forms that we want our clients to complete and send back and also create HTML5 webform options coming up as well.
    Thank you for answering-in advance.
PS: This new adobe website format is driving me crazy - I can't seem to find anything anymore..

  • Where is my beloved stamp tool from PS CS 3 in PS CS 5?

I want a simple Soft Round Brush with the Pressure of my Wacom stylus adjusting the Opacity (and not the size of the brush), where when I hold down 'control' (Mac OsX 10.6.6) I get the dialogue box where I can adjust Size and Hardness … that's all I need (for the record: I have no use for all the shapes and patterns that are available.)
The problem is, with the brush I choose: Soft Round Pressure Opacity the pressure alters the size of the brush, not the opacity … I can't for the life of me find the setting where I get what I want. Can you help?

Well, on second thought, my problem seems to be not that I need to find my brush - I think I have found it, it is called "Soft Round Pressure Opacity", but the icon for it displays a different brush, namely the "Soft Round Pressure Size"- and when I select "Soft Round Pressure Opacity", it behaves like "Soft Round Pressure Size". So either it's the wrong brush and the right name, or the wrong name and the right brush, but it appears there is no match.

  • Need a suggestion - Can I use Livecycle Output ES as below

My company needs to generate documents on the fly and we are looking to find a solution where we can associate the data elements with the PDF template fields and at runtime we fill in application data to generate the documents.
We don't need anything fancier that this but have following requirements :
1> Our customers need to create PDF templates and the data bindings based on the XSD we provide to them -  What can we do here?
         A. Do they need to have LiveCycle Designer installed on their desktops?
         B. Or, Can we provide a website where we embed the LiveCycle Designer so that the customers can design their PDFs and Data Mappings there?
2> Provided that we get PDF templates with the data bindings can these be transferred across the servers? Meaning can the customers provide us their PDF Templates and we fill the PDFs on the fly on our end using Livecycle Output Server? Does it work this way or the server and the designer both need to be part of one integrated system?
3>Do we need the Enterprise suit for this? Or Output Server and Output designer can be independently purchased and used?
4>The PDFs designed via output designer, can these be used by some third party PDF interpreter software such as iText? Will it retain and expose the data bindings anywhere except the Output Server?
5> What are the pricing for each of these : Output Designer, Output Server and Enterprise Suit?
I am sorry if these are irrelevant questions, but I am not able to find the answers myself anywhere over the Internet.
    Any responses will help!
    Thanks in advance

There is a bit of naming confusion going on here; products are being mixed up.
As well there is a newer version to the ES 2.5 version Hodmi references.
LiveCycle Designer works with LiveCycle Output; both available as part of the Adobe Digital Enterprise Suite; you can download an evaluation here - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/enterprise-platform.html
    Under ADEP trial downloads
We have another, older range of products
Adobe Output Designer and Adobe Central Pro Output Server. (the link you were looking at)
These products are older, released before LiveCycle / ADEP; they work well for simple document use cases; but they are old technology and have an end of support date of  June 2016.
There is no trial download page available; you would need to talk to a adobe rep to get access.
For new customers we recommend the modern LiveCycle/ADEP product lines.
You can request that an Adobe rep contact you via - https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=solutions

  • How many Licenses of Acrobat Professional do I need for Adobe LC PDF Generator

    Hi,
At our customer site we have purchased 6 licenses of Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator and have recieved a license file with the keys for Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator and Adobe Acrobat Professional. We bought the license from a reseller of the product. We understand that the Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator is a server based software and needs 1 license per CPU. Each of our server (Dev, Val & Prod) have 2 CPU's so we have sufficient licenses (6). We are under the impression that this would suffice. How ever we are not sure on how many licenses we need for Acrobat Professional.
Here is a brief description of the way we would use Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator. We are deploying a PLM system and one of the requirement is to render Word documents to PDF so we are using PDF Generator for this capability. On our Adobe servers we will install Microsoft Word, Acrobat Professional V9 Extended and the Adobe Livecycle PDF Generator. We will have around 150 users for the PLM system being deployed. The PLM system is a Web based system which means the PLM application server will be running on a Solaris server in our case. As part of the workflows in the PLM system, at the end of the workflow process, the PLM server would trigger a request to the Adobe server to convert the word document to PDF. The Adobe server processess the request and returns the PDF file that gets generated.
Based on the above usage of the system how many licenses of Acrobat Professional do we need? We will be installing Acrobat only on the server where we install the Livecycle PDF Generator. We had a call with our purchasing person today and she cautioned us that for Adobe Acrobat Professional we might need 1 license per user of the PLM system. She has asked us to check this with the Vendor of the product. Somehow I don't think it makes sense to purchase so many Acrobat Professional licenses even though we install only once.
So can someone tell me How does the licensing for Adobe Livecycle PDF Generator work? How many Acrobat Professional licenses we actually need? Is it based on the number of users in the system that is triggering the request? Appreciate your response on this.
    Regards,
    Ragha

You really should talk to your Adobe Sales Rep about this.  There are all kinds of special deals, licenses and such for customers using LiveCycle.  (For instance the license for PDFG may include Acrobat licenses for certain uses).

  • Forms no longer render in IE after turning on SSL.

We are using LiveCycle Designer 7 to create dynamic forms. The form is filled out on-line and then submitted back to the site. We have had no problems with this until recently. We did some security testing and found that when we turned on SSL, the form doesn't render in the browser.
Using Fiddler, I can intercept the request and open the content in adobe reader without issue. However, when the request gets to the browser, everything is rendered but the form.
We do have PDF's that where not generated through LiveCycle that display fine. But forms generated through livecycle do not. It doesn't appear to matter whether they are static, adobe 6 static or dynamic.
This appears to happen on different machines from XP to Vista. I believe we are all using IE 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell you if this is the problem you are having or not, but Microsoft did release a windows update which tightened some of the processing of SSL. This affected some certificates which had worked prior to that update. If your application worked but then stopped, see if you can correlate the date it stopped with installation of a windows update. Of course, if you made a change to your application around that date, that would be suspect also.
I didn't follow one comment you made "everything is rendered but the form". What is it that was rendered and what wasn't?

  • Get or Save Unbound Data in Form

    Greetings,
We're working on a project where we have a LiveCycle form that is bound to a schema.  We also have access to LiveCycle ES Forms and ES Output services.
When a LiveCycle form is accessed, we send our current applications XML and the Form Template to the ES Forms service, to get our partially filled-out LiveCycle form for end-user display.
The user then fills-in any remaining information and "Saves" the form, at which point we extract the XML using XFA locally (with SaveXML()) to write any changes to the database.
Here is the issue we're having -
We need to be able to take a copy of the filled-out PDF file to save it (all user-entered data included) to a file share, so we have a complete record of the form information that was filled out.  Some of the fields on these forms are not bound to our schema, because they might be fields that don't exist in our database, but still need to be filled-out on the form and saved to PDF.
The SaveXML() only returns schema-bound fields, so if we call the Output service with the original template and our XML result, we don't have any of the unbound fields.  Additionally, our users are using Acrobat Reader, so they're not able to "Save forms with data".
Given the services we have available, and LiveCycle's capabilities - what can we do to "Save PDF"... just so we can capture that entire PDF file that was filled-out by a user??
Thanks in advance for any guidance,
    GS

I put this in the wrong area of the forums - feel free to delete.  I'll move it to the appropriate discussion.
    Thanks!

  • Label texts disapear after activation

    Hello everyone,
I'm having a problem in transaction SFP, after creating the interface and form, i go to the layout option to build my layout.
After design, i save my work, close the layout window, and then activate the form. My problem is that when i go back to the layout all text captions of labels are gone !!
But in XML i can see they are still there, only code was altered. For example:
Is there something i'm missing, or something wrong with the configurations ?
Edited by: Nuno Santos on Jun 16, 2008 4:34 PM

Solved it on my own. It appears that the problem only succeeded in a pc where i add a LiveCycle plug-in from Netweaver Developer Studio, older than the latest version. In other pc's i don't have this problem.

  • Dreamweaver CC transition from CS4

I was really adept at using CS4 and have upgraded to Dreamweaver CC. I live in a remote location with below 1mb of speed (yes that's right) and cannot get anything downloaded to help me. Is there a book I can buy or a Forum I can join to help my transition from CS4 to CC? I am fine with CSS but where are my beloved AP Divs?

APDiv functionality was removed from the program with good reason (actually for many good reasons). You can still create absolutely positioned elements, but you need to do it through the CSS directly...
    1. Go to Insert > Div
    2. Give the div an ID in the dialogue box that comes up
    3. Hit the New CSS Rule button
    4. Choose where you want the rule to appear (usually in an external style sheet) and hit OK
    5. Click Positioning and set position to absolute
    6. Hit OK twice
From there on out, the element you inserted will act like the defunct APDiv in Design View and allow you to drag and resize like the old days.
A word of caution though, APDivs are gone for a reason, they cause more problems than they solve, especially in responsive designs meant to go from desktops to tablets to phones. Except in the rare cases where absolute positioning is necessary, you can always use infinitely more flexible css floats, margins and padding to position your elements.

  • Two new features?

I have downloaded the trial version of AA 3.0 after reading of two key features in which I am interested. So far, I can't locate either.
#1 - Did I misunderstand that audio tracks are auto-saved as they are recorded, as is the case with Cubase? The sole advantage I have in recording multi-track with Cubase is that each track is auto-saved, labeled with the channel name, whereas with my beloved AA 1.5, I must manually save each track, naming them as I save them. Is there a switch in 3.0 to activate this, or was it just a dream when I read about it?
#2 - I also had the idea that I could monitor the recording input through the PCs headphone jack. Is this the case? If so, it is interesting that Adobe should do this in version 3.0, since Cool Edit Pro had it when Adobe wrote them a check.
I love Audition 1.5, but I may actually consider 3.0 IF these features are in there.
Thank you for your time, assistance, and opinions.

The above answers only actually apply to recording in the Multitrack view.
#1 Yes, as soon as arm a track for record in the Multitrack view Audition 2/3 asks you for a Session name and makes a recording folder to put all your recordings in. In Edit view recordings are still made to a temporary file and have to be manually named and saved.
#2 Monitoring of your recording input should be available with all versions of CEP/Audition but is dependant on your soundcard to provide the direct monitoring of the source. AA 3 adds the option in Multitrack view of being able to monitor the input via Audition and can include added effects like simple reverb. But in order to work properly you need a soundcard/PC with ASIO drivers capable of low latency. Recording in Edit view still needs your soundcard to be able to route input to playback output for monitoring.

  • Where is Adobe LiveCycle?

This morning I turned on my computer to discover that AdobeLiveCycle has been replaced with FromsCentral.
When I try to import froms I have created with AdobeLive Cycle I get an error message that say I cant import the form because it is an XFA file, but they are PDFs.
    Where did LiveCYCLE go?
How can I work with the forms I created in LiveCycle, so I do not have to recreate 8 years worth of forms?

LiveCycle Designer doesn't come with Acrobat XI.

  • Random crashes with Adobe LiveCycle form - where is temp file?

I'm using Adobe Acrobat v8 to enter data in a form I created on LiveCycle (the version that comes with Acrobat v8).  I'm running Windows XP with all of the current patches (as far as I know - our tech support is pretty good at updates).
The file randomly, and repeatedly crashes on me.  It also does this on my Vista Laptop, but since Vista randomly crashes for all sorts of reasons, who knows.  The file does not randomly crash for a co-worker, so I suspect some sort of problem with my computer that I'm having tech support look into.
My question is where are the temp files?  I have Acrobat set up to save to a temp file every minute, but this isn't helping me recover any lost data. I could type for 15 minutes in one field, and not recover any piece of it.  Any advice?

Is there any where that I can voice why I returned my beloved new Ipad? I was told I could move my Keynote presentations to it and then use it for my
business presentations. Unfortunately that turned out to not be true. I need the IPad to work with a remote.
The Ipad is on a short cable to my projector. I am usually on a podium 30 feet away. No infra red receiver on the IPad and
the Iphone remote needs wi fi which is not always available in all the locations I do my teaching and lecturing in.
If you can build a remote into the Ipad in the future I would really like to use an Ipad to replace my heavier lap top for business travel. Thank You Kathy McNeil.
